Your blatant attack on the Fortress members for your short fallings with your own character is becomming childish. There was some things that you eventually revealed that showed you had more experience then what you led on with your role, but you have no idea how frustrated i was with your interview, and giving forth my recommendation. Your role seemed to consist of ganging, looting, and quite frankly mooching. I tried to remain optimistic and give you the opportunity to prove yourself, but i felt like when you were in the realms, i had to scrap all my plans and drop everything to bail you out at ever turn.

You want to talk about strategy, who the hell stands on eastern road, with numerous people wanting to kick your ass, and you dont get the #### out of there.

Quite frankly, the situation with the Empress and her gank squad is difficult to approach, you cant rush because of centurions and razed building, it almost guarantees sacrificing one of your players. They have summoning superiority, immune to most of our attacks. Sometimes i sacrifice is necessary, and in such cases i am usually more then willing to be the bait. But Sarien is very good at looking after the people in the fortress. I was threatened to be full looted for just gating as a scout to find a paticular person of the Empire. A full loot can be devestating, and quite frankly an uncalled for full loot i think is just as childish as the behavior you are showing.

SOMETIMES it can be fun to play the ruthless evil bastard, but if you really want to look back why so many muds are losing their playerbase, you can look that is is shear frustration. At full-loots, ganks, all that jazz. It truly takes away from the enjoyment of the game, and quite frankly that is why i have almost never looted anything, (i do take the occassional thing to identify) but you have to show appreciation towards all the work that is put into a character. The roles, the contribution to cabals, the endless hours of exploration, not to mention how long it takes to hero equip.

I do not always agree with all tactics, and i certainly take more of a fighter approach to my characters, but the contributions that each player makes within the cabal is vital to its success. As for you taking a shot at her, quite frankly i think her role is quite entertaining and has a unique take on it. Such can be seen just as how i and her play differently, but it is nonetheless valuable. She, like myself also commits several hours helping new players, young players ranking, and helping NUMEROUS others stay alive. She has taken an assisting role for the sole purpose of helping out others, to bolster your enjoyment of the game. As far as Sarien, I think he is a very commendable player, and i hold alot of respect for him, and quite frankly i would follow him anywhere and i hope he sticks around along time. It is people like him that make this game enjoyable.

Learn some respect, because as far as i can tell, the failure of this character was solely on you. If you need a bailout every two minutes, look at trying a new technique.
78197, Ummm...
Posted by Duqibaeth on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I hope you were not mad at having to bailout my party all the time! :D

As soon as Mrrowler got inducted it actually helped me delete Duqibaeth so I could focus on life stuff otherwise I would probably still be poking about even more than the four to five hours a day I was at the tim.

People like him are exactly why the small niggling issues with CF become glaring ones. Why rank at all if you end up running into some full looting trash talking bastard who just spoiled your re-entry into CF character? I think the issues with CF are actually quite minimal and the Imms are doing great things to alleviate them but with players like him, the Russian cartel, and permagangers in general it becomes hard to enjoy the game.

I have played a fair bit of Fort and all I can say is that the current group is amazingly fun to interact with.

Cheers,
Arzzra.

From 15 years ago up until about 10 mos. ago, the big cry fest was over these mysterious "IMM morts." Now it looks like the "Russian cartel" has taken over that dubious distinction, and the IMMs can freely post goodbyes for their morts on the Battlefield without getting the usual trolls :) I'm not sure anyone could have predicted this evolution.

That you and a friend was Ilix/Cyrn, Ravon/some muter. I was actually curious to see if it was true, and also somewhat curious to see how it would turn out. Grinning Devil Shield probably means some very difficult part of a very difficult area explore had been reached, and of course the thought of a certain pair of gauntlets crossed my mind... I won't lie and say it didn't.

Two obviously elite players in a cabal known for having many newbies... That said, I am not accusing Mrrowler and a friend of perma, nor am I condoning the act of cheating or perma-ing.

As for all the people who hate you... my chars have been killed by you, by Ravon, by various characters in my various characters and I don't blame you one bit, or call you a cheater. If I'm not good enough to avoid dying to two skilled players, then I'm not good enough. I try to get better. Even if they are on Ventrilo (Yes, I use Ventrilo, for other games that require intense amounts of split-second coordination and it is not illegal but standard practice in said games).

Also, just Ilix's player's character alone would own me upside down. I don't have the hubris to claim otherwise.

I gave you the benefit of the doubt, and against my better judgement as a player I inducted you hoping you might turn a new leaf. Unfortunately, you didn't really and I suppose what I will take away from this is that it was a learning lesson for myself. I could tell from your knowledge of preps that you weren't quite as new as you put on. I wish that you had taken some time to hammer out some better RP. But, alas we all have throw away chars.

Good luck with the next,

I followed all your stupid rules. but what the #### man? I had like a novel of what I could and not do to destroy evil. Not that felar pole/mace is actually very good at that. It lacks a lot. But seriously, WTF. WHY CAN I ONLY ATTACK EVIL IN THESE SELECT CERTAIN SITUATIONS!! This character became a throwaway character when incarnadine sucked for my personal tastes.

Also, you group v group combat planning is horrible. I think that is obvious when you face 2 and somehow like 4 of your 7 man group die. CO WRATH and CO SUMMON vs imperial council and black circle will rarely win.
CO WRATH also will not kill a lich that i'm driving. Especially when it is obviously immune to it. I was feareful if a situation ever did arise where we could kill someone of worth.. you would attack them. They would be immune to your weapons and you would spam wrath. Then cause the us to lose all our skills for your worthless #### cuz it'd be a gang.

I'm ####ing thankful we found dolce before we went to huntress. Because your idea of how to press that attack was going to leave felar corpses behind and likely your own. You can refrence back to that log how I landed no skills but cutoff which was very lucky for us that he even died. But I got in no commands, like I told you I wouldnt. Now picture that with other imperials standing right #### there. You think they going to let you gang Dolce's balls off like that and just watch? no they gonna rape your ####ing elf ass.

Which brings me to the FORTRESS HALL OF LIGHT MEETING OF TACTICS!!!
Seriously, why even let the elf healer speak? All he could say is we needed to hold dear to the hope of the dawn and to our the faith of our spirit. That that is how we will endure and defeat. I'm sorry, I didnt attend a meeting of battle tactics to listen to a church sermon that has no significant meaning in how we correlate our forces. All that you guys said was this. Carry teleport potions. Move in one force. Lay down the law that Maran will make the tactics and everyone will follow them. Okay, great. You got some groundwork. But you never went further than that. You never talked about tactics to defeat certain enemies. How to approach it other than in 1 big gang. 1 big gang doesnt win. Everyone needs to know their part in the big gang.
Thats what none of you have. None of you have a certain focus or certain task you must fulfill.

I disagree,

I would argue that this char became a throwaway character as soon as you rolled it and decided to half-ass your way to the top.

"CO WRATH also will not kill a lich that i'm driving."

Right, but it will curse it... even if she is immune to the damage are you able to curse her? no.

"Also, you group v group combat planning is horrible."

Did it ever occur to you that maybe I don't play the "powergamer" style that you seem to love? I'm not going to tell people to sit out..just so we can win by avoiding the anti gank code sorry, not gonna happen.

In honesty, your blatant attack on my leadership and skills might actually bother me if it came from someone who actually DID something for the fort. Quit trying to educate me, I know game mechanics quite well. However, I should thank you for one lesson. Never again will I induct someone who is obviously not there to RP/have a good time and play the game the way it is intended...Woe is me when I read my PBF comments.

You assume Ahtieli or Satebos will not have an orb of travel? How do you think she left that fight?

No, you want to kill the weakest person possible at the expense of your entire group. I advocated a method that would stop their retrieval possibly. Take the biggest threat at my risk. And alow you and whoever to kill mirto and dolce easily. You instead said we all were going to gang said char(originally it was mirto). My hope was to fight the bigger name. You never really wanted to focus on that.

>You assume Ahtieli or Satebos will not have an orb of travel?
>How do you think she left that fight?

Depending on what's going on, getting the curse out there still has value. There are a few excellent answers to an orb of travel that aren't also answers to c word.

If you can't achieve total command denial, removing that option still very possibly gets you something if you're sharp enough to capitalize on it.

Possibly. :) I didn't see their full gang plan.

It was clear that this had become a throwaway character given how often you died in situations that could have been avoided. Hence the remark during the meeting about stuff like teleport potions. How often did you even keep detect invis up?

It was also clear from your interview that you resented actually having to speak to someone to get the powers you wanted, and that you resented any Fort policy that might prevent you from doing exactly what you wanted to do in any given situation.

I'm sure you did fight solo, but it rarely seemed to be by choice. If you engaged someone when a maran was online, you'd almost always announce it on cb so the guy could cry in to the fight.

>CO WRATH and CO SUMMON vs imperial council and black circle will rarely win.

He only tried that once that I saw. It didn't work, and I got summoned and died. Afaik he learned from the experience and doesn't try it anymore.

>Seriously, why even let the elf healer speak? All he could say
>is we needed to hold dear to the hope of the dawn and to our
>the faith of our spirit.

She's an acolyte. That's their job. This comment just demonstrates you don't "get" Fortress.

Oh, and thanks for clueing me in to the fact that "trip is an important skill". Trip is important for a thief? Really?

>You got some groundwork. But you never went
>further than that. You never talked about tactics to defeat
>certain enemies. How to approach it other than in 1 big gang.

Because it had already been going on for too long at that point and I wanted to wrap it up. The plan was to have another one and get more detailed.
78153, Trip is so important you should have earthbind on hand as a thief
Posted by Mrrowler on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM

It's easy to burn through 5+ teleport potions avoiding air forms when the rest of your cabalmates are off circlejerking around the Watcher when you are out fighting all the time. I don't know why you wouldn't spend some of that time and gather an earthbind scroll or two.

I think you more enjoy typing "gt They are flying." than actually getting a kill. I guess my primary frustration with Fort comes that you have to be led around by a group of guys who couldn't pk themselves out of a wet paper bag and yet even pointing out the obvious fallacy in their plan relegates you to outside the "clique" of a certain few Fort members. So, the option is to grin and bear it, or suggest alternatives and then end up fighting alone.

Also have to echo Daevryn's comment that you can sometimes count on Fort members to do the worst possible thing at the time. Sometimes I wish that my groupmates would just drop link.

>don't know why you wouldn't spend some of that time and gather

Because, as I pointed out at the time, I can't kill the one mob I know carries one. And it's immune to steal. So I've been using a poor man's substitute until I can con someone into helping me kill said mob. If you can't be bothered to keep detect invis on hand, don't give me grief for not having earth bind on tap.

>who couldn't pk themselves out of a wet paper bag and yet even
>pointing out the obvious fallacy in their plan relegates you
>to outside the "clique" of a certain few Fort members.

This isn't accurate. Lortas points out stuff. I point out stuff. In fact, I pointed out to Sarien that it was a bad idea to have tried to out-summon Ahtieli right after I died because of it. I pointed out to Humbert that it was a bad idea to have spammed rescue on me when I was getting beaten down by Ahtieli, her zombies, Mirto, and Dolce. Know what? He was okay with my saying so.

It's possible to give constructive criticism in a way that not disrespectful and/or patronizing.

78196, RE: Fortress incompetence
Posted by Humbert on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I'm not the best, but I assure you there are competent non-idiots in the Fortress. Even if there are some idiots in the Fortress. And you can powergame to -some- extent if you are patient. Fortress does not automatically exclude powergamers.

Case in point, second highest pks on a goodie was Niheriva. Sure he caught some flak from players but for the most part most IMMs (who have far more resources than players do) think he's good. I could name Solasarath, Queliryon, Alriac, Lariya, Gruffil, Darascus. They all played within the RP restrictions but kicked plenty of evil arses.

Unfortunately if you do get a crappy leader (not referring to current leaders, just a hypothetical situation) who forces you to follow his group into a death trap, then compensate by bringing with you an orb of travel, or wearing certain items (one of them is not too hard to get). Then get the hell out when things (predictably) turn ugly!

Also, current leaders Kasir and Sarien are both very concerned about tactics. Can't say any more as these are all active players.

When I first saw this name I was like...Wow, what a dumb ####ing name.

Then I was like Oh...Sarien inducted that guy. Well.

In all honesty, you have it in you to make some really great characters. Grow up some and do it, I think you'd have more fun that way.

I expected you'd put that more diplomatically, despite years of evidence to the contrary.

All in all, I didn't really like the charac that much. Sure I do my share of ganking if the occasion arises, but it almost seems like this charac was made solely for ganking, or at the very least, testing out how buff felar groups can be. Reminds me of that nexus cloud warrior Rhyme from a while back. At least while you were together with others you acted like a tank rather than ganking effectively :)

But hey, I can't complain about having another guy, or guys, to fight. If I was in the mud for having tea parties, I'd play hello kitty land.

Yes, it's a little hypocritical of me to say but I don't go off and gang people for getting frustrated and giving some sportsmanlike banter back.

He pretty much did to anyone that remotely talked back to him.

He probably deleted from a combination of figuring out whatever it was he wanted to figure out with his legacies, and people just taking a complete dump on him after double XP weekend for his name. And possibly the edited log on Dio's but I'm pretty sure anyone sane who treated him badly was more for his name than even his leaked identity.

If Sarien didn't have the spot already he'd have done to Fortress what he did to Outlander and Nexus, that is to say set up a semi-perma with whoever was competent, or his IC clone butt-buddy and teach the entire cabal to gank everyone in the dirt 5v1 that remotely got frustrated with him or the game in general.

Frankly after what he's done to me and other people, I'm glad he got kicked around for being immature rather than being promoted/rolled to a position to be immature and get away with it for the fourth time in a row.

At first, when I saw your post I was like... Wow, now there's someone who really knows how to point out the ####ing obvious.

Then I was like Oh... I'm not the only one who noticed.

In all honesty, why bother? Grow up some and lay off the insults. I think you'd have more fun that way.
