75213, A Dying Flame

Elleryne had been a dying flame for a while.
I started this character to truly personify chaotic evil.
To kill mages and relish in their blood, satisfy her lust for death
and blood. I chose sphere lust because it was not just death that
made her happy. It was blood and pain that made her smile. I believe
myself that ganking is pretty gay. It would be against a characters
role to let a wounded opponent walk away though as being Chaotic
evil. Yet to invoke the spirit of honorable combat, it was not for
order that she liked it. It was because she did not like to share.
She did not want anyone else to share the pain, or blood, or death.
This was my concept for the character. I ran with it as far as I
could bear. When i started to die constantly to gangs and Air
shifters the game started to be no fun to me. It was really hard to
play an evil character for me. But I hopefully pulled it off well
enough.

Thank you to all the Immortals for running this game!!!

More thanks to those who keep adding to this world/game.

Keep it up. I love the new changes and hope you continue to
evolve this game world.

There were many players whom I liked.
Most that I interacted with I liked.
If you wish to post a goodbye then do so.

The following is my own personal opinion about game balance as an assassin.

This is no offense to Zulg, I love your changes.
The balance between shifters and assassins at higher levels starts to
get very one sided, especially air shifters. Shifters in general
screw over assassin's maledictions. With how much they
dodge, and the flyto command, and having no way to maeldict it is
really sad to fight them inform. Its not that the forms are
over-powered. Its just that there is no way to lower their dext
enough to kill them for an assassin. Since their intent is not an
attack form I would think that most classes would have some defense/combo against this.

The only way to weaken an opponent as an assassin are completely dependant on a few things.
1) They have arms/hands. (Only one family of forms have this)
2)They have feet (quite a few land based have this)
3)They do not have some form of control translucence (for throw/ground control).
4) Poisondarts...which it is rare to see an air shifter if you are hidden.
5) Partial assassinate (good luck on an air shifter).
6) Poison. (-str)
7) Proc items.
8) Lucky axe kick (which I believe is only str damage)

Perhaps this doesn't need to be a tweek to shifters but to assassins.
I just feel that a battle between these two are just ungodly awful in
one direction. Could just be me or perhaps they just have too much
Dodge potential or no vulnerability to assassin maldicts.
If there were some way to maldict them away from "uberdodge" then I
would be happy. As is they rarely get hit by skills at all. (Humming
bird comes to mind). But never hitting them + ABS is no fun at all.

Other problems I felt that assassins were lacking in... against
invokers. There is nothing you can do at all to a fireshield invoker
as an assassin, it is sad. Again maybe assassins need a damage move
other than kicks and throws in order to survive. Or the solution
could be to wait for it to drop...which doesnt work very well. This
one is not really much of a concern to me as you can wait for it to
fall. But still being helpless and unable to do anything but hope
your normal hits kill an invoker is boring game play...

While I do believe that some classes should have strengths over
others I believe that being unable to do anything against a
shifter/invoker form other than normal hits is not very fun for
either side. Other mages in this respect are very good about atleast
being hit by these moves.

I'm sure this game will continue on and evolve.
I'm going to take a brake for a while though.

Again I thank the Immortals for running this game/putting up with us.
75214, Rest in Peace

Never really had any interactions other than fighting. ABS on anything when you are caught offguard is never a good thing. Assassins have more tools in their belt than most classes. Air forms can be blinded with dust, and maladicted in a variety of ways. They also have limitations of where they can flyto. Assassins can also hide and unless the air form is an owl, have the upper hand in most situations. If you give an air form enemy chance to 1)see you, 2)prepare to fight you (air shield for example), and then finally catch you when you are badly hurt, it is not going to go well for any type of character.

Anyhow, hope you had some fun. GLWYN

75217, Yeah, Regearing for the loss. :P

I had fun until the end. I was just getting tired of regearing constantly. It really just makes the game not fun. I had been thinking about deleting for a while now. So I hope you dont think its your fault by any stretch. ^_^ I'm going to take a break until I think of a good new role. A good time to put a final rest to this character anyway.

Re: High level air shifters. True, it's hard for you to kill them, but it also should be reasonably hard for them to kill you.

Re: Invokers; I'm not sure why they're so hard for you to deal with. Shield of winds can be rough on an assassin, and shield of flames can be rough on an assassin, but no matter which one is up, the other isn't and it leaves you room to do something useful. Further: you're an assassin. Why can't you wait for it to not be up?
75218, Hm.

I just didnt expect to only hit an air shifter in twice in 14 rounds of combat. I know they are supposed to be hard to kill but they do have ABS by that level usually. Then again I was wounded already to half ways so I was screwed against a prepped air shifter. I guess thats all part of being a villager. :P I really wasnt expecting an air shield on a shifter. That was the worst situation ever.

Invokers shield of flames blocks kicks, kans, kote, tigerclaw, trip and throw.
Air lowers kick damage and blocks trip and throw.
With shield of flames I dont really see anything useful to do other than blindness dust or caltraps. But I guess your point about waiting for the shields to drop is valid. I guess I should have went scout! But I loved trying berserker for once. ^_^ Still have to try out scout. Maybe next time I feel like playing village.

What you fail to realize is that at the hero level the game favors those who use magic, and as a villager you are there to gleefully con die as compensation for dominating them midranks.

And you should be thankful that during the moment that trash-talking invoker's shield which neutralizes all your special attacks drops, your tiger claw will keep him silent for one whole round.

Use it wisely, padawan, for it should never happen during a raid.
75231, All magi must die. :P

I loved the lowbie trash-talking invokers.
They were funnier than heck.

Without giving the whole thing away, shield of flames doesn't do quite as much as you think it does.
75228, Okay. Good to know.

It was really frustrating but this really wasnt the main problem I had with this character. I could atleast make an invoker run or escape one. It was the air shifters that gave me the most trouble. But its just a game and I've never liked assassin's at hero. Having played 3 of them near or atleast in hero range I'm getting sick of them. I guess it is time for something new.
75220, Oh, and I forgot to mention.

Thank you for defending me on the forums against that ass hat. :P
It took me by surprise and made me laugh. Thanks.
I'm currently working two jobs so it is really hard to keep on playing some weeks.

Oddly, I found that I like pre 40 pk quite a bit.
I probably would like hero PK more if I explored and learned more of the world.
Anyway, thanks for all the fun

I enjoyed watching you fight, and liked your no nonsense, get to business sorta attitude. You reminded me of the last mageslayer some as well. Loss for the Village that you're gone. Come back with your scout after your break!

We had quite a few battles in our time. I always enjoyed fighting you and hated it at the same time. I was always ready for you to step out of the shadows and attack me. Thus it had to be frustrating for you that I was never found un-preped. I did see you kill lots of other people, thankfully just not me :)

I thought you did a nice job overall. It was fun.

75229, I did get close a few times though. :P

Is it okay if I post that fight with your ranking group on officials?
That was so fun. :P
75230, Er...on the unofficials I mean.

That you did. Sure thing on posting, I change up my tactics all the time ;). I am bad at saving stuff so I don't have any logs. I am too busy going from one fight to the next to remember to log anything. We fought so much I don't remember the exact one you are referring too :)
