55775, Done! Off to dance in far away lands.
Posted by Nanorab on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
There's going to be a lot of goodbyes to follow, so I'm going to do a general post then scroll down the specifics in another post (or two).

Nanorab was a character played from my heart, and I think thats why he lasted so long. A lot of him was me. Some of him clearly wasn't, but a lot was! And it just felt good, whether I was winning, losing or actually doing nothing but chatting - it always was fun to play him out.

The larger part of the reason for rolling him, was because I made a huge mistake deleting the last character that played from my heart like this. He was awesome and I was a fool to delete. And so, a year or two later, along comes my chance to try out a lot of new things - and damn was it good. Nexus was great fun (even through its teething problems, and its stuttering growth today) and I wouldn't have given up my place in that cabal for all the questy rewards in the world. The people I signed up with were just what I was looking for in chums and its a shame I lost touch with many of the newbs when my times slipped. There were still great characters at the end and by far my favorite is Tsyda for pure consistancy ;) People have to understand you don't -need- great roleplay, stunning uniqueness or some quirk that means you have to yell 'Pjamas' every five minutes or suicide. You just need to be consistant, forge forward in a believable way with your roleplays progression and most of all - be consistant! Stick to it whatever. I even had bitching contests in character when what I really wanted to do was yell 'Fagtron!' and it was infinetly more satisfying to find IC ways of ripping the piss out of people. Especially dwarves. They make it so easy.

I'll start with the immortals, since they likely put in the hardest efforts of us all and make this game possible.

Iunna: You rock. Always been a fan and had to roll an a-star follower for you when I heard you'd come back. I couldn't have made a better choice even if I'd thought about it. It was like 'Hey, Shazmeister's back... guess this characters going to be one of hers!'. Despite a different religion, different background, etc - it was still the same fun feeling of being an up-beat character with attitude. Thanks.

Rayihn: Thanks for the induct. I permanently stole your joke about the bar and blagged it off as mine to every single applicant. Assuming it wasn't late at night, I could tell if they were going to be fun or not by whether or no they laughed when I told it. The way I see it, it was my 'John Dorian' test. You tell a crappy joke, but do it with some style, and if someone laughs they must really like you. It works! To this day, I still tell the 'Why didn't the skeleton go to the party?' joke when I want to know if someones flirting. Keep smiling, just sometimes, it shows when you play.

Daevryn: You work hard. Really hard. I personally think you're insane but since I am reaping the benefits and having the ride of my life, I don't think I can really complain ;) Thank you for absolutely everything. And although no one can tell from this statement how much that is - I know it was a lot. From my little/big rewards, down to the occasional time you'd pop a hilarious comment over CB, it was all awesome. Cheers.

Twist: Always found it hard to judge you but I wasn't a follower. You still made me smile with a joke or two but I was bummed when you wouldn't show us around the vault :( We never did find Rayihn, to get her to do it for us. Thanks for what you did too, and keep at it. I might have to roll a follower of you just for the hilarity of your backstory - I read up on some stuff in the lyceum and I'm seriously curious about this dog now!

Ysal: You make me laugh so bad. Please don't hit on the next horny character I roll, I actually shuddered when you flashed those aweful teeth at me :D You put effort into your rp/style that would make Thror proud. It makes me damn proud, and I'm not even related to you in any way! Well, except hanging with you as a mort.

Farigno: Thanks for helping out with the interactions and things, they were fun in that you could really feel the character through your actions/words. You didn't have to say a lot, do a lot, and you could just feel the substance. I call these 'meaty characters', so that makes you the 'meaty god'.

Eshval: If you were a car, it'd be sleek, black and have a 'Give blood!' bumper sticker. Thanks for haunting me, I took the liberty of ensuring Taelina was always first on my stalk list just so I could say 'I drew more pints off yours than you did off mine!' but I get the feeling if I'd said that, I would have found myself on that table, paralysed and with some wicked tool with a tap jammed in my neck. You made the times fun for me, even if you made them hell for Nano! I even had to write a bald spot onto his neck into my description.

I think that'll do it for now, more to come in the next post!

Feel free to post questions, to keep the curious going I'll throw up some final character info:

*** I was about to delete, but for some reason try calling eye of equilibiriiriiurbirium (he he)
*** And found out the key was missing. I do a quick 'who pk' and see only Nharrpos.
*** One snare and a quick beating later, and I find out Groh is defending too.
*** Despite being naked, I'm never one to be put off by a challenge. An imperial had injured the
*** giant so I thought I'd just nip in and steal the kill :)

Mostly credited to Tsyda, who came to me while I was digging a hole in the sand to escape Eshval's bottomless fangs. Zesam had brought me a pile of things to defend against vampires and she started ventriloquating one of them. It was too funny to miss :P

Did you actually think what you did that one time with Tumarellon et. al. wasn't raiding, or was that just a matter of RP?

The rules were, we weren't to raid at the Watcher.

What we did do, was stop anyone from going into the Fortress to raid. There was like 4-5 of you on, and just Hunsobo.

What you did, was tried to define raiding as 'helping someone get the orb' - which technically could be 'damn, you killed me, now I can't defend, screw you for raiding'. We were using it like Tribunals use the law, and sitting exactly on the line we were told to sit on. You threw a hissy fit and tried to tell everyone 'we had raided you for the orb'. Which isn't true, we were just helping in a round-about way.

You got to learn that this is the way treaties work. They're not a 'hey, lets all get into the spirit of loving each other' things. They're set rules within which we're going to fight. And no, we didn't break those rules. You just weren't smart enough to work around them :)

If you hadn't summoned me inside, I wouldn't have been fighting you inside. If you'd fled past us, we wouldn't have helped hunsobo fight you. Instead, you seemed to think it'd be genius to sit in quicksand, at the maran, and fight three of us. In all seriousness, if you can't handle that, fair enough. But it was not us raiding for your orb, we were there to fight only you. And fought only you.

Tsyda, You, Tumarellon and Hunsobo kill the Tara'Bal, Hunsobo continues to the watcher. Tsyda leaves. You try and quicksand trap a Maran (brilliant by the way) in the room where the Tara'Bal spawns. I flee past, and summon you to the Hall of Fire since you are the weakest of the three people I am facing. I was the only Hero range Fortie on at the time.

>What you did, was tried to define raiding as 'helping someone
>get the orb' - which technically could be 'damn, you killed
>me, now I can't defend, screw you for raiding'.

In this case it meant helping my enemy kill my outer, and then hanging around afterwards, while he raids, trying to kill me, in my own cabal.

>We were using
>it like Tribunals use the law, and sitting exactly on the line

First, I responded ICly, exactly how my character would have. How is that throwing a hissy fit? Second of all, sitting around in my cabal trying to kill me while the person you just killed my outer with is killing my inner? Yes, thats raiding. You've played Maran, you've played Villagers. Would your Maran and Villagers interpret what you did as anything other than raiding?

>You got to learn that this is the way treaties work. They're

I wholeheartedly agree with you. I wanted to declare war on Nexus. It wasn't that I wasn't 'smart enough' to work around them. It is that it would have been abysmal RP on my part to 1) do so, and 2) interpret what was going in any other way. When I play Paladin's they don't go in much for compromise or tying to wiggle through loopholes. Maybe you play your Paladins differently. Would it have been better RP for me to say 'Wow that was clever! Good job!"?

>If you hadn't summoned me inside, I wouldn't have been

I come to my cabal. You hit me. I think to myself "Hunsobo, Tumarellon, Nanorab. Take out Nanorab first." You were the weakest of the three, so I wanted to eliminate you first. You helped him kill the outer. Tried to kill me with Tumarellon where the outer spawns while Huns is inside raiding. Are you really this dense? I don't mind it OOC at all. I think you were doing what you thought your character should have. What I *don't* understand, however, is why Enarn and I shouldn't have declared war on Nexus except for Immortal intervention.

I was rereading your goodbyes and to both Halistanis and Enarn you said something along the lines of "Why couldn't you just understand Nexus's place in CF?"

I think characters like those two (and mine to a lesser extent) *do* understand Nexus's place in CF. The reaction that understanding might engender seems to not be the one *you* think it should be.

We support the weak, and push down the strong. While you might be in a strong position today, there is no guarantee you won't be the weak one tomorrow.

The fact is, if you want to see Nexus as someone who simply is out to stop you winning - then you can. Its valid, its not wrong, but its only half of a two-sided story.

Our view is, that we aren't trying to stop you 'winning'. We're here to make sure you never -lose-. This is what I explained to Halistanis, and I did it in a way I hope got the message through. We made attempts to explain it to Enarn and he took the 'you're just out to kill us, whatever' attitude. We don't fight to kill. We fight so that people survive, and live on to fight for themselves. When there are five imperials about raiding your fortress when only Man-decirith or someone else brave enough to take the odds was on - I was there tiger clawing centurions and getting bashed down by Kharg. I was the one putting my life on the line, so someone had a shot at raiding back. And it largely worked. You can see our work as dirty, backstabbing and evil. But the truth is, it is the work of a Balanced philosophy. We are equally kind, self-sacrificing and noble.

It is human nature to see only what you want to see. If you are in power, have an advantage and intend to win out 'your way' then I can understand a war on Nexus. They become evil at that point. What is wrong, is wanting to war -all the time-. That is when you lose the point of your war and are simply fighting for fightings sake.

Yes, be suspicious. Yes, be mistrustful. But you are only endorsing half of the story, the reality is that I only see the negative side of a lot of players (like Enarn's actions) but I'm sure there's a positive one. Its a challenge to try to get both players and characters to understand that but I'm up for it ;)

Those who say 'I've played Nexus, it was a boring gank-fest' are not only be facitious but are using a very loose term of the word 'played'. When you've become leader, studied and actually supported their philosophy, looked at their history, tried believing in their purpose yourself (not just Balance, but Magic) and looked past the petty acts of fighting - to what YOU can do to change others perception of it. Then you've played Nexus.

Like I said, its a two-half story. Those who bitch, whine and complain that Nexus players are just backstabbing scum and should always be considered foes because they 'stop me winning' are speaking one half. I'm trying to speak the other - that if these are the actions you see, then the obvious challenge is to play a character who changes peoples perceptions. Mine did, for many, and I never expected to get all. But its been done and now its someone elses turn to take up the challenge and win. Have you really got what it takes?

>Our view is, that we aren't trying to stop you 'winning'.
>We're here to make sure you never -lose-.

My problem is with this line, this is a valid idea for you to have as a Nexun but everyone one else that you are helping or fighting is out to WIN. Fort, Empire, Outlander, etc they all have a goal to WIN, not just not lose, by assisting the other side you are working against someone's goal when they are closest to achieving it, i.e. the balance is in their sides favor.

This is easy to extend to the idea that if my side is ever to win, then nexus needs to be eliminated, that is we can never win just by defeating the spire and empire etc, if the nexus will just come and help take back their items.

It's valid for a Nexun to be satisfied with your view but if anyone else who really believed in what their side is fighting for believed it then I don't feel they are doing justice to the RP of their cabal.

That is my exact same experience in battle. Being a leader opens up so many nuances and understanding of the history of the cabal and you begin to see why deathblow is in place or why the nexus has this philosophy and so on. I have received inputs on an entirely new history of the village related to area explores other than the conventional lyceum version. Good piece.

I should be credited for shaping *your* character? Well, thanks. Nano had a huge impact on Myrakie, too. We'd met at a turning point in Myrakie's life where I was concidered deleting because I'd taken a lot of OOC gruff from my thiefly acts. However, when Nano started to become interested in what Myrakie was doing it was mixed reactions. At first, Myrakie absolutely adored Nano, and I probably lost a few con running around roughing people up that you'd complained about ICly. She was your mommy, and you didn't even know it. I'd also conned Outlanders, Scions and Ragers into leaving you be while we were together, and it almost always worked. *Shakes a fist a Krynna*

Once Nano joined Nexus, it was a little more difficult for Myrakie to trust that you weren't going to turn on her, being chaotic and all. However, the day that she was recruited by another Nexan (who said, Nano told me to come to you if I got stuck) to go kill a chaotic warrior, I giggled so hard that my boyfriend thought I was broken. From then on, Myrakie went back to being the older sister with a more quiet disgression and not so much fire in her heart. I was impressed with Nano's go out and get it additude, and it carried over into Myrakie very, very much.

OOCly, you juts gave me the courage I needed to say #### the OOC bs, this is too much fun to let go. And I have to thank you a lot for that, and for your comments to me when Myrakie died. Truely appreciated. I figured, the first time I knocked someone out four times in a row and Nano giggled, I was like... Awesome, someone to hang out with that doesn't go OOC when I do my thief thing! (And yes it happened enough that it was a concern.)

The pack concept was completely satifying rp, and the days of us sitting around and eatting catnap until our ears bled will not be soon forgotten.

The first time we were in the Inn together just sitting around, I was picking Tiatin's pockets (I think it was Tiatin, but I could totally be wrong here) and not failing and getting beated down by the bouncers, so I was pretty excited. And then.... Nano comes in and asks me if I want to hear him sing. Of course I say yes, but I have to say a needed "#### you" for not only making me laugh so much that I could barely breath, but for making me -completely- forget that my claws were still practicly hanging from this guy's pocket, and all I'm doing it staring at Nano wide-eyed.

I had a very good time with our interactions, and I hope we run into eachother again in the fields!

Taelina: Always good fun bitching about you, you're a scary bard to fight and I know I'm lucky to have escaped most of your fiends. I seemed to have some great luck when it came to you fiending me and I never seemed to catch a strong one. Even when I was injured, I just had to feral growl and the thing would melt away after a few blows :)
There was a period I got really angry at you for literally camping in the village - It seemed to be all you did when logged on. But thankfully that passed and you were out-and-about places I could never damn well find you. The only reason I got you so much, was because Eshval had it in for Nano and he was determined to stalk you above all others because of it.

Vhloughvang: Damn you're tough! The only villager I could never really beat (besides Nuekar, striking made it impossible to do melee combat - and having his wimpy at 50% with wings and bandages meant I had to super-gank everytime). I had no luck trying to assassinate you and even worse luck trying to trance against you with all that damage you'd just soak up. Thirst pretty much ended a lot of my fights, as my maledictions would just disappear and I'd have to wait for fatigue to set in. That usually meant you were in the village by then, or I was a very irritated corpse :p

Nharrpos: Nice fights all around. There were times I'd giggle as I tranced, walked into your fire maces and knew damn well you'd still try the boneshatter and see how it went. Other times, I'd lose resist heat and be distracted long enough my trance would fall. Bash is still a scary tool, and doubly so when you can't even pray for an evade because your stats are shot!

Brinkmun: I got pretty tired of you quitting when you knew you'd been stalked. I was fine with the 'I'll just run about on the river' routine but you need to learn that there is more to life than walking the ragers circle of death. It wasn't that I was a great stalker (I was terrible) it was that you were so transparent and predictable I could kill you any time I wanted. At least now I'm gone, you can relax a bit more and enjoy fights you can see coming ;)

Yean: Good luck upstairs! You were slightly more scary than Taelina because your songs were always damn painful. She had the surprisingly nasty melee damage but you had those one-shot annihilates (unspeaks if I had no fire resist) through my resist mental. Oh the pain. You also seemed really good at timing your fiends but again, I had some great luck avoiding a powerful one. Whew.

Eulinda: Urrrg, please just don't talk to me. You really made me cringe. I am surprised I managed to avoid sacrificing all your gear just because you annoyed the hell out of me. Some of us play this game to get away from the screaming of kids - not have to endure more of it :p Great fighting all around, deathblow wasn't as scary as when I'd have someone just bloodthirst away my maledicts but you seemed to have a lot more luck than any other berserker in landing one. Always when Vanguard wasn't working at its best too, damn it. Your legacy choices sort of intrigued me too, I guess it works but they struck me as odd when combined with your specs.

Ronauk: Always good fun fighting you, you started to come back towards the end but you took my blunt hits and crippling attacks really badly. You were the red headed step child of my villager pk list for a while there! Still fun interacting and you did kick my hide a few times, as well as got some really great kills solo that a lot of villagers would need help to do.

Hiel: Bleh. A Nuekar clone was not what I needed right about now. I had a plan to assassinate you and make sure it was painful but Taelina was always there next to you - and rp-wise a much riper target! Just hope there's some shine beneath that gnome exterior. For some reason, I'm yet to meet a gnome warrior that really convinces me anyone should be able to pick that race-guild combo. Sort of like svirfs and mages, but I have even more trouble picturing one. Also, that legacy stacks way too quickly. As shown, even hasted against a slowed opponent it would trumpy me, cut through my damage reduction and take me to town by stopping me from fleeing. Ridiculously powerful.

Asoa: Punk talking got you into big trouble. You were pwning at the levels thug thieves do - but hero is a whole different game. Once you hit hero, I repaid every bad comment you made in pain :D

Yuvralin: A toughie but thankfully all my skills are blunt attacks. Usually a well timed owaza meant death - I got the feeling you took a hit more in the pride than the con most of the time. Learn to relax, and just enjoy the lows as much as the highs!

Trurkrag: At first, I thought 'Entropy character signed up for Battle' - then I realised you did have a bit more depth than screaming Todgar! and lightened up. You were fun to interact with, and it was always amusing to hear you screaming after people on the eastern road. Thanks for the fun fights too.

Drakgrak: Always a good fight and sometimes you seemed a little too willing. Even as a tough-ass villager there's going to be situations that lone foe is still going to have your number. Stun and run before I've messed you up so badly you can't :p Still kicked my ass when I wasn't prepped though, and damn could entwine get me in trouble.

Aramonk: Some of my first stylish assassinating was done on you. I think if you'd stuck it out, you would have done better overall. You definetly picked up at some point and started fighting smarter. And you had nearly as bad a 'fire and ice' as Yean. Damn one song kills!

Thrak: I keep picturing you as an orc, damn it. We seemed to have it either go one way or the other in our fights, I don't think there were any close ones. Either you knew I was going to eat you alive, or I'd fail a skill/forget a prep and suddenly see my doom in those axes. Always a fun fight and hearty interaction.

- I'm sure I've missed villagers, sorry if I have. There's just too many damn names to remember! Either I'll remember eventually or just post a reply and my memory will jog into position.

Here's the rest of the world:

Kanaev: You're a scary as hell Scion. A larger part of the reason I never bothered stalking you, because I knew it'd come back in nightgaunt form and I'd regret it. Which I think it did, once or twice. Really painful to get bashed down by you and that giant when I was already painfully low on support (it was me and a lowbie or two) and the Balance was completely out of whack. Grrrr.

Edimus: You took the brunt of my wrath because the other Scion was scary/too good an ally. It really hurt you, but it made me laugh how off-hand Kanaev was about you dying. 'You know, thats really rather irritating.' but the undertone was 'At least you weren't trying that with me! I'd have full looted your fuzzy hide.' Evilicious!

Maethron: Great fun chatting, I loved the whole 'thiefy chat' thing I had going with all you guys in the shadows and you were my number two buddy. You also cemented the name Man-decirith forever with your tip-off! So many people were laughing their asses off at how Nano played that one out. I even got imm-exped for it!

Myrakie: You were a life long friend and deserve a lot of credit for helping shape my character. Pack-mates forever! I'm glad I shared so much of the fun times with you.

Halistanis: Not sure why you got kicked but I'm curious. At least you weren't as thick headed as Enarn about 'war' and stuff. I tried to get you to understand Nexus felarsophy as I'd picked it up. That yeah, we were going to fight you. But there are always going to be times when that either: 1. Keeps you afloat, there's no one else to fight otherwise or their all too easy for a camping druid and his gang. 2. You really need someone to help you raid against those three-four tribunal. Most of the time, I just weakened the captain with tiger claw and didn't bother to tell you (well, 'you' as in 'the outlanders').

Jrhurg: Can we say, 'murder druid'? Same idea, different class. The depth of your character seemed to be 'Jrhurg kill!' and it wasn't so much bad roleplay as really boring.

Man-decirith: I know you'll hate me for it, but I pretty much was making fun of you behind your back to the entire mud :D Sorry about that, but it really scared Nano that you might one day look like a willing date and the next be so unappetising that he was scraping his tongue and dry-heaving at the thought of what could have happened. Thanks for the awesome interaction over the war and stuff too. Some cool fights ontop of that, a well rounded character.

Enarn: Looked like a cool character but so hard to tell under all the 'You're not Fortress - I'm aggressive as hell toward you' mentality. I'm sure its a valid Maran role but to a lot of us it looked really bad *boggle* Especially when you just wouldn't understand Nexus' place in things. We can either make your life bad, or the way you did it, we can make it a lot worse.

Kharg: You're awesome. Even when you bashed me down when I thought I was being smart hiding in foresty areas, you're awesome. Sorta proud you got at least four charges out of my scrawny hide, my pk record must have been slipping bad toward the end. Going through 14-15 con as a leader is pretty impressive for me at least, as a non-rager!

Hunsobo: You make me giggle, and always seemed to be decked out. You have no idea how much I would have loved to finally land an assassinate so I could steal a human sunder :D I sorta knew it might have marred our relationship though, and being Iunnalady buddies I didn't want that as much as I wanted the sword anyhoo. I seriously had you close to being assassinated a good 5-6 times and you'd always slip away just as I thought 'Its time!'. Damn it!

Nip seller: Progglesnort was a relaxed, fun character to be around. You don't have to have amazing skills or somekind of super-power - all you need is heart. You are the eternal proof of that and are my hero because of it. Thanks! And I hope I run into you again in the fields. The day you actually gave me catnip, I was guffawing and like 'Awesome!!' behind the monitor.

Didn't you only kill me twice? Maybe I'm misremembering. There's a reason Kanaev is offhand about it, two deaths isn't "really hurting" for Edimus, it could be a bad hour or a good day. Though the first time it was rather inconvenient timing.

Anyway, I was expecting it the second time, and since we'd been enemies since that day on the volcano (at least in Edimus's eyes) and I always attacked you, I never had any problem with it. You didn't gang me or loot me, you just did your thing. We didn't really RP and Nanorab wasn't a high priority enemy (too many real enemies for that) but Nanorab made a positive impact on my mudding experience. :)

That was my second char with which I had some serious interactions with you. Honestly, man, I have mixed feelings about you. Sometimes I loved you, sometimes I hated you. But I guess it is a good sign for true neutral char. Well RPed.

OOC I am perfectly aware of Nexus philosophy and even approve it. IC I couldn't, sorry. That was the source of conflict.

My RP line is still ongoing (or at least I hope so :P though I am getting tired of lack of... doesn't matter) so I won't comment on the whole thing so far. But I certainly will after I hit delete button/ age die (former hopefully).

General comment, when I was telling you I never accepted or saw any help from Nexus, I wasn't lying. Re-raiding? Bleh. People had hard time killing Huntress when I was online. Raiding Spirit was as rare as rainbow in winter.

I will keep more comments for detele thread.

Well played, my dear.

You didn't mention me? After all we've been through, and your hitting on my wife constantly, even? I mean, come on, I made you my king and everything and massaged your paws. That's gotta count for something. There were times when Tiatan really wanted to kill you, Tiatan-style, but the fact that you were a powerful ally and that he was married to Tsyda kept him from going through with it, plus Myrakie would have hated him, so... As a player, I really loved this character. He was great fun, and you really seemed to know what you were doing. You were always so helpful, too, when the balance was right, and I really appreciated it. I'm glad you had a good run. See you in the fields.

I was thinking about you all the time I was doing Tsyda's goodbye (one of the first) and just got completely absent minded when it came to posting a second lot - You were a huge influence on my role and a kick-ass herald.

I think the way you died is historic, and I can't think of a more ironic way to go really :p Tsyda played out your death pretty well over all, and I was always stunningly impressed by you both.

Our relationship was always shakey but I agree with the idea that no two people have to like each other to have a good laugh! Thanks for all the inn-teractions and I think you should be seriously proud of the fact you stuck it to age death. Its a feat I'm yet to achieve, and after getting a leader position with Nano and reaching 500-something hours - I was still a good 100 hours from age death. Not going to happen :p See you in the fields!

I'm glad someone else is finding humor in Hunsobo's verbal slip-ups. Most of them are completely on the fly (some I re-use over and over, such as "testicle withdrawal"), but some of the ones that are spur of the moment actually make me grin as I'm typing them. They are one of the things that makes Hunsobo fun to play!

I was almost always assuming, if "darksway", that "Nanoguy" was stalking me, so I tried to stay on the move and keep my eyes peeled. I'm sure I was hugely lucky at times though!

I think you killing me and taking something would have been more upsetting after I gave you Bal'Talon for safekeeping :P.

As for Iunnalady - yeah...she and I drank some wine last night and toasted you. Good times.
55848, He he, Bal'talon actually killed me.
Posted by Nano on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I discovered what would upset it - and it also happens I was stunned for the entire fight it happened. Stupid sword killed me the day after I got it and I was so reluctant to pick it up again I passed it on to a sword spec. I wasn't looted but I was pretty irritated at myself as it was a 'vulnerable' time to die. Thanks anyway though, and as for the toasting - that's just cool ;) See you in the fields.

Man, First off, Nan was one hell of a dude. I knew and fought him with a few different chars and each time I was impressed by your willingness to fight....that being said There are reasons one would walk the 'rager circle of death' one being that we had your item, two being that I didn't want to die to a fricking assassinate, or three to avoid death by any means nessessary. I do not know if you've lived on both sides of the magic line but I assure you those reasons justify why I play the way I do. And in case you have not noticed, I have pretty set times when I can get away with cf, I do not log out to avoid assassination or death, and most times if its even close, I bite the bullet and overstep my times. I take offense to that comment, not that you or anyone would care, but its just not the type of player I see myself. I could be wrong, but I try to NOT be that guy. Sorry if you had any bad feelings, also not what I intended.

Two great heralds!

I loved hitting on Zaph, one of the characters I could be -sure- was female through and through ;) But how can a pink-gal ever compare to the fineness that the felar race has to offer? And WTF is with them marrying elves and crap?!?! There are perfectly fine felar's with titles and gold standing right in your shadow! (Yes, all the time)

I don't think anyone actually dated Nano in the end. But these two gals were some great rpers that I think would have stood the best chances of 'surviving' :P

No wonder I felt like I was being watched. Thought it was funny when you took me to Velkyn Olath to kill stuff and tried to bond with me. I got a kick out of that. I found out just why it didn't work when I had Balim too, which was moderately annoying. Oh, and you COULD have had Meora if you were a little older when you met her. You were barely half her age, even though she could have grouped with you. I can't remember if I've said it yet, but I really don't care, Good luck with your next. Playing with Nano with the two characters I had that knew you (sort of) was incredibly fun, and I finally figured out how to make a felar talk from you, so I thank you for that.

I wanted to try and tell you IC that I enjoyed our fights though you tore me a new one a lot of times. We got into some bad bitching but I was having a hard time IC with other political issues and a series of ganks and full loots from people I did not expect would loot me and so I lashed out. You for sure did not get the best rp facet of Drakgrak. I remember interacting with you as a kid and you put up some good answers about why magic ruled your life.
Hats off! One of my toughest warrior type fights. And there are not many of them! Good rp, absolute solid pking, we need more players like you. Try the village some time, you will like what you can do within.
55897, I've already been Commander...
Posted by Nano on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
So no worries there ;) I played Kaisse/Ritur, both old villagers.

And don't worry about losing your rag sometimes. As Taelina can attest to there were times I'd flip out. Even if I kept it in a very IC way, I still lost it enough to start calling her a bitch :P We all lose it and I have no problems forgiving people when they do it to me. I just hope I'm forgiven when I go into ass-mode.

You had a pretty tough combo for melee classes, but thanks to martial trance I found handling weapons foreign to my class a lot easier after some good stalking. The stun-and-run is mostly what screwed me, because it meant trance would eventually drop and I'd have to hope you were hurt enough to finish without the mad skills it mystically imbues! Sometimes, it wasn't *ouch*

Keep on kickin' ass, and don't mind the drillmaster comments. Those were mostly very IC, me just trying to get people into trouble etc. It makes sense that a pride-wounded nexus would at least try to dig at a villagers sense of self-respect. If the stones don't work, go for the insults!
55941, You were Kaisse? Damn

Wasn't going to reply but its been bugging me. I wasn't anti-whoever wasn't-a-maran. I was anti-whoever-wants-to-start-a-fight-with-the-maran. What I think it was was every single nexus player's inability to see it outside their own view as just what they're suppose to do. Yes, from a player point of view I see the nexus role in CF, although I still hate its existence. As a character, any character not a nexan really, at best I wouldn't trust you within a mile of me and at worst would try to kill you on sight. Why? Because simply put the nexus philosophy is anything anyone is trying to accomplish will be stopped one day, likely the day after you helped them with it. I like analogies. Let's say you just helped me kick the school bully's ass, and now he is bitch to the entire school. Do you think I will thank you for that when you're punching me in the face? Probably not. What I'm more likely to do is junk kick you and then pig stomp your skull. I'm a bit whacky though, maybe everyone else would just say please sir may I have another.

Oh, and I don't know how many of you people kept telling me I was taking it personally and I shouldn't. Uh hello? You're killing people as a character I considered as dear to me as family. If I was playing evilguy sure, better them than me, but otherwise #### yes I take it personally.
55898, That's pretty strange
Posted by Eulinda on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Because looking at my logs fighting you deathblow hardly ever went off, let alone hit you. Deathblow has really been nerfed (there, I said it!) and it goes off pretty rarely now. You dodged or parried most of them. When I'm gone I'll post and you'll see.

I'm sure you were a good Nexite, they all were much more likely to do something if you were around. Getting you the couple times I did was good after your assassinates, especially after you'd said you were all that and a bag of chips and I'd never get you. :P

Good luck in the next one too.

Hah. You were quite a bit of fun to talk with. Always very snappy and quick, razor-sharp. I got a real kick after we talked about magic and how you revealed to me that you were a great magician! It was lots of fun to be humoring you as an all-intelligent elf, and then be totally flabbergasted at how you and Tsyda would want to preserve the wicked. It was very fun, and sometimes very difficult as well, to figure out what to do with those white-hot tensions, and trying to be cordial and polite, and try to make myself understood, and still mediate between you all and Enarn. When my goddess is on your side, no less! I wish Baerinika had been there to poke you all with her spear. Would have made things much easier for me: just let her and Enarn take over. :P

Definitely some great fights. For some reason, my adrenaline really started pumping when we fought: I couldn't believe you missed that assassinate when I was sleeping, scourged in Arboria, and then we had our fight on Calandaryl. Lots of fun.

Good work, and I ran around with one of your great chars as a newbie, so I'm very indebted and a big fan. Hope we'll run around on the same side sometime soon.

I didn't log that, unfortunately I don't tend to log too much even though I should. If the dark lady would be so gracious as to strip that out despite the tremengous amount of woik I'd appreciate it. I have to say I find it very ironic that we had so much fun with ventriloquate and it gets ripped out that night. Admittedly that whole sequence was inspired by Tiatan's use of it in the Inn which he was a master of. A real shame its gone. Perhaps mages in the Inn could get it back.

I don't know if it was what made you pick up harassing Nano in the first place, but when you first started glancing at him more than others - I decided to brag about you stalking me because I was so damn fine. I was all about shouting over cb 'Eshval? She loves me so much, I think she's just trying to make me a Vampire. How many bites is it to convert me, 3? 4?' - About 12 bites later that one had backfired. Some Nexuns would shout 'Look out Nano, your girlfriend is visible!' *whimper* *run and hide* Now I know what REAL stalking victims go through :P

And damn it, after that thing with eatting garlic toast off a silver platter in broad daylight, I just couldn't figure out a way to get rid of you. That echo likely made me laugh more than any other though, and it was truly inspired hilarity. If I wasn't so crap at evils, I'd roll a follower of you tomorrow. I might give it a shot anyway - see if I can't find some way to make a necro that actually fits with my playing style. I can see it now - fear my leet dating skills! Be terrorised, into dating me! Geranim: Been a long time! Its a shame you aren't about more. You were my old skool buddy, we were inducted together and finally got a term as Rhyme/Meter. We had our own inside jokes and a seriously fun time whenever we were hanging out. I loved every moment of it, cheers.

Tsyda: I really like the way you play your character and I hope you make it to the end. Keep kicking ass. And by the way, wtf?!!? Giant Clam?! Someone upstairs really hates you :D I was expecting you to get a decent quest form, although I think giving you the albatross would have been even crueller. How you enjoyed the frisky side as a constant female target for Nano's main love - that fiery, passionate dance that is courting the ladies ;)

Eqithan: You were an amazingly solid giant, it pains me to see some of our current warriors when I compare them to you. Like a boulder, you would often just be clearing a path.

Dinkertot/Alts: You kicked ass, and were a real killer back in the day. Don't know why you felt the need to leave CF, but I'm sure you'll come back soon. There's plenty of people who are stealing your power-combo's thunder now you've deleted. Striking was my bane - it seriously made melee combat impossible after about 4-5 rounds. And there was no way to get rid of that advantage, except be an assassinate monkey. No amount of maledicts, slowing, hasting me, nothing worked. Its insanely powerful on a gnome hand spec.

Erasifh: My pack-mate! Show up more, its awesome having felarish conversations. I hope you keep my made-up words like Felarsophy. I loved that one, inspired by Tiatan after a conversation at the inn I liked to slip it in where I could for a chuckle. Keep kicking ass, felar assassins are overpowered! (Though definetly get the extra training edge for old age. If it wasn't for my role rewards, I'd have had 14 natural str *wince* As it was, it was 15)

Pilotra: We had a blast, and I loved showing you things. I hope you're still around because you're the kind of new player I really love. Happy, not nagging and eager to learn new things in a relaxed and casual way. You never forced anything and that made me want to help you all the more. In the end, you were really getting the hang of what was a VERY niche spec choice. Desert beastmaster in nexus? Very tight restrictions :P I hope that bedouin boost is on its way!

Chagos: Ah, one of the many water shifters that made me chuckle. You were deadly on water and good in raids.

Deedom: Same as Chagos, but much more. You were a good buddy and I was sorry to see you delete. Would have been interesting to see how your combo stood up to these new skills and all - the dolphin is a serious rager killer. I'm surprised we couldn't ambush more on water, especially those fleeing madly from raids. Water shifters are still pretty niche but necessary when there is water next to a cabal that so many can use to hide in from hydrophobic races and normal shifters.

Vettal: I really like you too, keep on kicking ass man. One of the few new guys I connected with..

Verakh: Damn it, will you just STOP DYING! Is it really that hard?! You're a freakin' owl! Not a Liger! Act like it. Even when you're a walrus, three ragers are not about to crumple beneath you're almighty power.

Jenno: Tone down the requests a little and roleplay a bit more openly, and you'll be absolutely awesome. You're doing a lot better than you think, and already have the ropes of pk asside from some little bits you still need to figure out.

I'm sure there's plenty I missed, post if and I'll remember!

I came up with everything from 'doodoo' to 'coockoo'. I am amazed how many ways you can twist the 'oo's into words people recognise! I'll miss you, Toodoo.

I really love your role. Its the kind of unique thing that really works- you make it not only interesting but your character almost screams questions you want to ask him. Especially with the changing thing, that always made me laugh. Everyone voted you as Rhyme because you're as solid as they come. Loved grouping with you, I could run my spells off non-stop when bonded to an invoker and I know you loved the trance/bindwounds part of the power. But damn was I clumsy when it came to your quicksand :P It got me into as much trouble as it did the ragers! You're a damn competent invoker and its going to be a shame we can't do the old fire malison+nova combo and take down everything in the blink of an eye. You seriously made killing the destructor a dream you pumped out so much damage. Thanks for all the fun times.

Forgot about you too!! Thank god I brought up bards and remembered.

You were definetly meant to be a herald. You have nooo idea how close you were to just getting kicked out right :D In fact, if an immortal hadn't scolded you just before I did, it might well have swung the other way. You did redeem yourself somewhat that day too, but you did some really pathetic stuff in raids that made me laugh.

On the roleplay side, awesomeness. You clearly had your heart set into it and it showed. Keep on trucking.

You forgot Meora too though.

Thanks for the compliment. The reason I hated raids is STILL because I'm a *****y PKer. I'm a four year noob in more ways than one. Glad you got a laugh out of it.

You were a blast to hang around. I always wondered if you thought I was trying to beat you out for leader. In truth I was just trying to get someone to replce Ebiwen. Hopefully we'll meet up again in another lifetime.

Hey man you were tons of fun to roll with. I know i'm not on too much, but great great stuff...you always made me laugh, and were competant to boot. One of these days i'll make a nexus warrior to murderize with!.

Figured I'd see this one day. Our times coincided real well when I started ranking up but as time went on we saw less and less of each other, pity!
Best ranking ever was when it was you, me and.. Wraol?, the felar ranger on Kiadana. Pack sense really is beautiful to watch then :D

I'd want to show more as I don't believe much in doing things half-assed (This includes dying in extremely horrible ways due to stupidity or just laziness), but sometimes you just can't.

And I do agree with your comments about playing from the heart, the characters I do that with has a tendency to end up with an (AGE) next to their death-thread ;)

Anyway, take care and all that, see you in the fields!

Erasifh the lonely pack mate.
55805, The only time I really used pack sense...
Posted by Nano on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Wraol still saw me now and again (Hi Wraol!) mostly to sell me dragon hides, and claw extensions. That packing was the best, we did like 3-4 triple hitting claw attacks per round. Both on our skills and normal melee hits. That stuff would spam so fast past my monitor I'd be in awe. What I think would be great, is if we just perma and roll up a 'felar cabal'. We could gank everything to hell and just let pack sense do all the work with uber +dam +hit, and tearing claws for bleeding+damage :P Looks like you're one of the last of Nano's pack left but you got a long while ahead. I know you'll love the assassin edges, my recommendations are go for the skills you use the most - not what sounds cool. I made some choices I sort of regret (like studying 'kicks' didn't seem to help as much as I'd hoped, studying ground attacks didn't increase damage that much either - and I wish I'd gone for the silent hits one for bards/raiding. Oh, and the 'distract the group when you assassinate' edge over killing hands. If I shoot for assassinate, its usually not to cripple and fight on. Its to kill in one hit. I'd trance if I thought a fight was possible because its hella more likely I'll kill a villager then. The two I can highly recommend, are smoke and mirrors (insanely useful/overpowered) and the master of uraken - my backfisting definetly went up a notch there. The strike swiftly during trance was pretty sweet and killers mark was not only handy but also gave me a reason to remember marking the ones I'm fighting. Too often, I'd forget and lose them in long ass chases where locating mark would have finished them.

I hope I see you in the fields!

You'll see me. Might be me that's keeping to do failed assassinations on you ;)

I got some edges and I can agree with what you said where it applies, I won't give any more than that away!

Toots.
55792, Hey, nice of going!

Eqithan: You were an amazingly solid giant, it pains me to see some of our current warriors when I compare them to you. Like a boulder, you would often just be clearing a path.

Cheers mate. You cracked me up so many times. Kind of shame I had to delete so prematurely, but what has to be done, has to be done.

We had some good fights against the rager posse, you doing your thing certainly helped against the rager bards, and to wrap a nice fight up there'd always be the ever so funny Nanorab says 'Hey, nice of going!'
55806, Rager bards really are a huge pain
Posted by Nano on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Better when the cabal had none, and were just walking berserker targets :P

Now you've got all this 'variety' nonsense going on and they're pulling all these 'tactics' I've heard of! Wtf! I can see how the bards were an immense pain to you and I'm glad you at least managed to bash some down before they could react. As for me, tiger claw was a nice start but after I got the 'anti-distort' edge I found they got too cocky once they landed it and you could do some nasty stuff when there was that bit more chance it'd go through while they prayed it didn't. Mmmmmm, owazalicious.

Actually the plan with Verakh is to learn PK and get over the "omg someone tried hitting me, c 'word" :p Kinda expecting him to con die :D Well...and to explore the waters a bit *shrugs*
55809, No, wording would be the right response!
Posted by Nano on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Its cool you're trying to pk but airforms are bad in combat for good reasons. They excell at scouting, escaping, and moving about. The owl especially is vulnerable in combat and does sod all in terms of damage. Pecking people down on the chase was awesome, but I have no idea why you were rushing up and pecking perfectly healthy berserkers. That's like inserting your con points into a coin slot, and being surprised when the machine takes it. I just hope it dispenses some common sense in the end ;)

You've got some heart though, hold onto it. It's what will really make you shine in then end, not 'mad pk skills'. I should know, I've been a bad pker for much of my CF career!

Well shifter beats the #### out of my PK attempts with Xoclibert, my voker :P I gotta try that character again some time...but eh :P

Cant believe you lasted this long. Every time I ran together with you, I knew my chances to die were way higher than going alone, but it was more fun. Most of that could have been my fault though for beeing a total noob with the whole invoker thing, and going alone made me extremely careful. But I couldnt be such a coward when I run with someone else.

Was fun though. Hope to see you around in the future.
55810, I think the invoker bond is awesome now.
Posted by Nano on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I remember before when it was okay, definetly better than a transmuter bond, but just okay.

Now, it positively kicks ass.

I thought it was great when we'd team up and just riot. Its nice having a regular mage sometimes, as when I'm powerless I'm pretty much down to stalking - which can get boring more because of the silence than the time it takes. Going Rambo style resulted in more deaths but also a higher kill rate - and infinetly more fun as we'd be running all over.

I'm yet to see if the Bard bond pays off though, or even the new transmuter bonding. Never figured out what either does, and I might have to roll an experiment to find out. A bard especially would be handy against the village. A transmuter could be cool, but only if there's numbers on your side to hasten.

Damn, damn damn damn. You were absolutely my favorite Nexun from day one. You inducted me, we had a blast during the induction and it only got better from there. We complimented each other perfectly and the interactions were always top notch. I think we fought pretty well together (mostly raids of course) too. You were also willing to relax at the Inn or our bar and interact and be a character in the literal sense. I can't count the amount of times I would be talking to an inductee or trying keep the backlash of your assassinations on light/dark ones to a minimum when *BAM* the veil would thin and another villager would be dead. Great character, great pker, all around just great. btw I never really minded you hitting on me all the time. After Tiatan's death you were her closest male friend.

I'd say GLWTN but you don't really need it.

Posted by Nano on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
And while I'm thinking of Eshval, I wish I'd found a way to get you to help me with that. But I guess Nano wasn't really in a position to be pulling favours from a fortress god - The reason I thought I'd try it, is becauset Iunna didn't seem to be too ready to de-tooth her and I thought it'd be a cool setting for a brief clash of the titans ;) Nano was scared pantless by her advances and the two or three times I got transed to her Shrine, I could just see him suffering a heart attack. I still feel sorry for whichever random minotaur I tried to pass off as an offering of beef, to escape being tortured. In the end, we both got bit :D

Thanks for suffering me anyhoo.

Was truly a pleasure and refreshing to be alongside you. I took a long break from CF. One come-back hero I had was negligible. Vettal is a second serious character. Interacting with you helped me defined Vettal in turn. This influence you radiated over others is the highest praise I can give you.

55954, You've got style - welcome back! nt
