It was always a pleasure to travel with Trelant, I seldom trusted Xzarg and a few others but having gone through some rough times with Trelant I never felt you would turn on me. I wish I had gone Skrugga and kept with my gut feeling about orc adaptations, instead of being swayed at the last minute by the not-so-mighty Mamlauk. Orcs are supposed to be the gangers of Thera but more often than not they were the ganged and I blew out on the enthusiasm for them but was pleased when I saw you had made chieftan. If you ever fancy doing another I might even join you and try and see if things go better.

I think the WORST thing about being an Orc player with all those peons/followers is that it makes you impotent. I noticed you missed a savage feeding and that many other skills seemed to fail when used by the mobs following you. Anti-gang code is your worst enemy ever it seems to me.

Would Orcs be better if they were less effected by anti-gang code? They are supposed to be a mobbing force after all. Maybe that is what Orcs need at higher levels a skill: dirty fighting-when attacking in a force greater than 3 Orcs come into their own and suffer almost no penalties in combat.

What happens if you faced people one on one? Any better results? I ask because I recently saw an Orc lose to someone skill working against a bunch of mobs. The Orc could not get at the spammer with all the mobs fighting him and was easily defeated. It was just wrong on so many levels.

I saw no difference when I was one on one or against a lot of people. I actually saw myself get tooled a lot quicker than normal when more people seemed to jump onto the pile. Obvious yes, but with the advent of the anti-gang code you would think your chances would be better.

Savage Feeding was at 100% but it still missed on mobs when I was ranking...with no Horde. So I believe it's just one of those things with orcs. Because the skills are pretty devestating, theres most likely a little bit better saving throw for the recipient that he could possibly get out of the way.

As far as anti-ganging code goes..I guess with the one big gank I have logged up there I probably dodged a lot of blows I normally wouldnt have but I think that was one of the few times I noticed it.

Also with the Horde it seemed to redirect the opponents away from me a lot which I didnt anticipate so when I was spamming away to fight sometimes I wasnt even in the fight..only to be engaged by one of the foes I DIDNT want to engage at the moment...usually leading to my death. Like with the big gang at the top, I would have loved to remained on Lorem and taken him out..after being rescued I was on Tahlshor. I had a human banner in my posession and if I could have kept my cool in that giant fight I might have worn the banner and gone after one of the human shifters but...alas...the chaos of battle is quite a rush.

I will say it like this. Orcs are severely handicapped as melee fighters. You have to just absolutely go in balls out and hope you get the jump on them. Two pieces of advice when PK'ing with an orc. Go hard when your hurting them....and run hard when they are hurting you. And i Mean...AS SOON AS THEY HURT YOU...just turn and run. You can get away and heal a lot faster then they can so Hit and Run and Hit again is the way to go.

East Sumner's Road
The area is quite dry and musty, dust kicking up along the road as
travelers move in a general procession to the east. Most travelers along
the road are peasants and farmers, and even those are few. The grass grows
short along the road, a pale shade of brown. Far-scattered thickets of trees
litter the countryside, providing shade for a moment's rest. Shadows dance
across the road, the passing clouds moving off to the northwest. The old
East Sumner's Road extends in both directions, to the east and to the west.

walls of Galadon to the west, sloping gently as it descends into the
broad river valley of Voralia's Tears to the east. The rows and furrows of
cultivated fields are visible from this modest height, stretching out to
the limit of the horizon in all directions save west, where the towering
battlement walls of Galadon stand quiet watch. The breadbasket of Thera,
this region provides the majority of the grain and livestock that feeds
the citizens of Galadon, Voralian City and even distant Hamsah Mu'tazz.

The path runs between a deep gorge and an overhanging cliff here. Boulders
and smaller rocks litter the path. The air chills you to your bones as some
snowflakes drift down, collecting into small drifts along the edge of the
gorge. The steep path seems to climb up forever to the east but starts
leveling out to the west.

In the Foothills
The path forks here as it winds through the foothills. To the east it
continues to follow the dried streambed while to the north it leads to a
trail winding toward a notch between two peaks. The barren plains stretch
out far below to the west.

The streambed of the dried river twists through the hills as it winds its way
out of the snowy mountains. To the south and west stretches the barren plain.
The hills seem to have a little more life to them, notably in the bracken
growing over the path. The peaks of the mountains cut jagged edges in the
sky as they tower above you. The peaks are topped with never-melting snow.
The path seems to be heading eastwards. To the south, the path exits the foothills.

That was probably not a pleasant experience. Tried to leave your things and not demoralize you, as you are playing the hardest class agaisnt unbelievable odds. Also tried to fight you solo when you were alone or with groups. Few exceptions, but I realized how bad things were going for the orcs. They just lack any kind of threat in a Pk situation. Unless completely unprepped, Ive not fought a single orc that can do anything worthwhile in battle. This is no knock agaisnt you, but they seem harmless. A single hyena should not be able to walk over you and two other near hero orcs, with decent gear. Maybe more defensive orientation would help things.

I thought you had heart and as a player I feel bad. Truly bad, almost guilty for the constant deaths you ate. Hope you learnt something from this, and come back in some form or another to kick my butt.

I took a LOT on the chin as this character and got a little bonus from the imm's because of it. I absolutely could not do a thing against most shifters. Especially one as quick as you. I know you must have had plenty of potions and staves and wands up your sleeves because even when Xzarg caught you out of form he hit you for scratches. If an Orc catches a shifter out of form there shouldnt be anything the shifter can do. I caught Mozarabic out of form in Voralion and thats the only time I got him. The only time. To be honest what I learned from this is you have to do one of two things. Prep Prep Prep....or take advantage of battle chaos and kick them when they are down essentially. You took me down a lot Solo...but you also were in the dogpile whenever Alriac was involved too so it wasnt the easiest to get away with Mr. Bash on my butt.

No hard feelings..and I did learn a lot from this char. Just never did learn how to kill you shifters thats all.

I will say that I made a LOT of enemies with this character. But an Orc is the kind of enemy you love to hate...and love to gank...and gank...and gank....and flyto/murder with your falcon/ram/osprey/hyena, summon and kill with a giant Empire gang.....or find and exterminate with a huge LightHorde as I like to call the Fortress. Being an Orc Chieftain with a Zurcon title put a giant target on my back and I accepted it wholeheartedly. It certainly made for every login being a sphincter tightening thrill ride from start to finish. But it also made for like probably 20some odd wins as opposed to countless losses so I was finally just ready to give it up. Xzarg is a good orc and much better at running and hiding than I ever was, and always seemed to have more preps so good for you..I hope you have fun with the Horde.

There are really no orcs at hero ever. That should remind you that you dealt with what most of the playerbase can't handle dealing with. The one thing I didn't want to come out of challenging you was your deletion but every orc has to see the throne and take it when they can.. I'm glad we fought the way we did because I had some sneaky dirty tricks up my sleeves that I could have utilized. You deserve mad props for sticking around as long as you did and you did damn well at times. You seemed pretty new to playing orc and adjusted well to the mechanics and the politics of playing an orc, I hope your not done playing orcs. It feels like hell sometimes when you have to spend an hour or two hiding, gearing and ranking by yourself and fighting large groups of enemies but if we can get and keep more orcs up there it can change.

I honestly wasnt logging Trelant in enough to justify hoarding Chief. So I had planned on getting a couple runs with the Horde..and then offering it to you.

I honestly never planned on being Chief. I wanted to try out one of the paths and see how they worked. And then I got a good run from like 43-48 and I was like..well what the hell. Noone else is really around. I'll go for it.

Botching the first Chief attempt I was like...wow. Am I ever an idiot. So I obviously knew you had a better idea of how to play an orc than I did. But to tell you the truth it was a blast, eventhe deaths. Especially when I lost my really sweet set and just started going after it with gear I bought from the village. Then at the very least there wasnt much to lose.

So have fun...I'll be keeping my eye on you. Hope to see you again in the Fields.

But woulden't you be more harsh on your own followers than on other folks? My first tatted char was from Thror, and I messed up big time trying to get it the first time around, and he killed me and told me I'd never have it. I was sphere umm dedication I think? Whatever his Anvil side sphere was and I stuck with it and eventually got the tat but I'd just think you'd have less sympathy for your own followers being gankliscious rather than the other way around. Especially since, though your religion doesnt have courage as a sphere, courage is integral to your religion (or at least I think so, after spending 300+ hours thinking about Aarn as Hrugald).

Sorry, I'm not really following what you're saying there... my post was talking about Fort-folk ganking Trelant, not necessarily Aarn followers. But even so... didn't I just make a comment in my post about them ganking? Did it come across like I was bitching at Trelant for ganking? If so I didn't mean it to. If not, then what was it that might have been construed by me as a flame?

Also, there's nothing in Aarn's religion or the Fort dogma that says you can't gank away. It's an OOC personal thing. That's why you'll always be far more likely to hear me comment on it on the forums or on PBFs, then you are to see me do anything about it in the game.

Anyway, if I missed what you were asking, shoot me a rephrased attempt!

Thats the line that was confusing me.

I would just think that Aarn as a character would expect orcs, or imperials, or scions or whatever the #### to gank. Would hope that forties don't, but maybe understand for the sake of the war, and would be downright pissed at his own followers that made it their modus operandi.

From the line above it seems to me that from Aarns eyes the opposite Heirarchy might be true, and that is what was confusing me.

As you can see from the logs the skills for Skrugga are uber fun!

The dirty fighting stuff that fires unexpectedly and harms them and not you is really the key to a Skrugga's coolness. The cower skill which everyone thought would make an Orc that can dodge like an assassin. Not so much. It makes you dodge a bit more and I think once I got the hang of it I had the feel for when I HAD to flee...and when I SHOULD HAVE fled. But it certainly didnt make me better at tanking as I NEVER was the tank for ranking, even when we had 3 Orcs.

I would love to get another one up to 35 and maybe try out Shig-Ru or Mundunugu..but I think all the adapts are just enough flair for the class. Everyone gets the mistaken impression that when the imm's add something to a class its supposed to 'fix' all thats wrong with it. Orcs are tuff to play because they are orcs..its one of those classes your not supposed to be able to play well unless you have experience. Like D-elf AP...or Elf warrior. These are classes that A) have a target painted on their backs and B) have vulnerabilities and handicaps which make them a little more difficult. The adapts are NOT supposed to fix all the handicaps..just make them more fun to play. Which I think they did on all counts.

We had some cool fights all around, and I liked you lots. I only remember super-ganking you once, but that was because I was pissed off that you got almost everything while a ghost from Alriac's corpse after Dulmisa assassinated him. You gotta keep about 10 kajillion potions of teleportation on you, man, and quaff more. Didn't really work on me cause I could steal 'em, but, what the hey.

I remember this one part, right before my last con-death, where I tracked you into Cragstone, found you were enlarged. It was the ONE time gathering an enlarge prep payed off in my entire life ^^. Of course, I ran away cause I was half-dead and Nivult kills me right after I miss a blackjack on her on North Road in the process =P

It's funny how people thought that Mamlauk and Mundunugu are teh über paths and that Skrugga path looked unappealing. Yet, the two skruggas were the people who stuck out and became the chieftains, playing an oldschool orcish coward.

The weapons practice with you helped Ghak quite a bit, even though I didn't stick in there and stand out like you two. Good luck with your next!
