I wanted to try out a tribunal to get a more informed view of their
strengths and weaknesses. Tribunal seems reasonably balanced. Both
outlanders and tribunals are very strong on their own ground.
I would like to have experienced sequester at hero, but I never got
there, so that is a moot point. I loved having vigilance. It was so nice
to see what is out there.

I wanted an evil, to maximize strife and because it is just much easier
being evil and I didn't feel like playing a hardship character.

I considered a mage, but I wanted another warrior, so I decided on a
dagger spec dark elf. The latter because of faerie fire which I deemed
might prove useful against outlanders. Funny thing is I made almost the
same character as Thonthoz a bit earlier. Llarizza a dark-elf warrior,
daggers, sphere pride. I apply to tribunal, I don't get a response. I
get to 33 and I have this terrible relationship with a mage. I can't
handle IC or OOC. Then I notice Marmaanth has a religion and I decide to
start clean over. But that is just too stupid, so I make an good
outlander wannabe. She is an elf, rather arrogant, but well-meaning. I
wanted her to be a bit hippie inspired, but I can't get it to work
really. So delete that. Then I made Thonthoz. Super easy to get
inducted. Everything is cool. I make him a pearl lich follower. But
Maarmanth goes dormant. Too bad.

I was very happy with Thonthoz as far as game mechanics go. He was
rather frail though, especially pre 40. Druids and axe warriors were
close to certain death. I didn't mind, since I more or less sped to
hero. Except for hitting a brick wall at 42. I entered hero range. I had
almost no allies during my playing times and I had some nasty enemies. I
gave it 30 hours desperately trying to get levels. I only got to 43 and
I lost 5 con. Like I stated, this was no meant to be a hardship
character or martyr, so I didn't have much fun there. All of the preps I
know more or less requires one to be hero to acquire them. The same goes
for useful gear. I don't mind losing, but I mind losing all the time,
so I deleted.

Some farewells:

Gordath: Damn you for getting Thonthoz to swear he would be a good
tribunal. All those retrievals...

Laithan. Super cool roleplayer. I would have liked to run around some
more with you, I really enjoyed the brief time we had together. A real
character.

Grogogh. Super cool scheming orc. The most cunning orc gets
chief. Should be a breeze for you, if you can find someone to level with
;-)

Qing. We never talked, but I knew you a little from Ilimya, my outlander
applicant I dropped when I rolled Thonthoz. Seems like a nice char. I
don't have a problem with shamans, actually they are one of my favourite
classes to fight as a warrior, but not when I am 8-9 levels below them
;-)

Baltherias. Nice attitude. Keep trucking man. The encounter in Ysigrath
was interesting. I was a bit like - alright man, get it over with, what
the hell am I doing here, anyway. Your wilderness curse was just
frightening. I ran to underdark with some mid levels to do something
afterwards and I almost died there due to the curse, but managed to get
to Blindingstone in time with 30 hp. Would have been a stylish way to
finish me instead of a few thorns. Sorry for venting my frustration on
you, when I talked about the guildmasters. I just had to get it out, but
at least I tried to do it IC.

Verthyl, you abused me mid ranks.

Dwobkin, you were certain death until I got to 44, super annoying.

Acordia, nice char. A shame you decided to explore other chars. It was
fun agreeing on the incompetence of others the few times we grouped back
around level twentysomething.

Zandreya. Cool druid. Nice to actually talk with one for a change.

Tzaaslacx. Of course I would never say such IC, but it was nice to have
you around and we grouped a lot. I got the impression that you were
still looking at the game with fresh eyes and I hope I could offer you
some fun as well as insights. Good luck.

Lacutir. You gave me the impression of a pro. Did you get bored, I saw
you just deleted.

Idren. I would have loved to group some more with you. I actually think
I grouped with you with Ilimya or was it Llarizza as well. Can't really
remember.

If you got any incidents or comments to share, please do so.

Its too bad you deleted but I can understand why. In the short time I saw you, you were getting seriously pounded by hero this and that. You were surviving, but it didn't look like very much fun.

This isn't the first time I've interacted with one of your characters, and I will say that even though I never seem to be around you much, the times that I am are fun.
39125, Good run

I really liked how you stuck to your role so well even if you could have had some eq and some ranks out of just swaying a little bit from it; you also knew what you were doing when I wanted to fight you this last time but if you had stood by a gate you would have killed mem, locked me in a cell, or made me leave and at least had the oppurtunity to quickly walk away from the one who summoned you. While I would have loved to see how much different our second fight would be with concealed attack/legacies and a lot of time to learn your char but you took that as cautious as a tribunal should but I hope in character you appreciated that I wouldn't break the law to do it the way you dealt the situation to me. Thanks for the plug and know that I will play the character to an age/con death before I give up the throne.

Good luck with your next character and dont' feel bad for not being able to handle Qing or the druids.. well practiced, Stacked head to toe and well prepared they take me down.

Baltherias. Nice attitude. Keep trucking man. The encounter in Ysigrath

I agree with the Ysigrath encounter. I had been flying around, and spotted you, and was trying to decide what to do. Having just killed you with the hunt, it seemed a bit cheap to catch you likely w/o teleports, and trapped lost in Ysigrath. Yet RP-wise, how am I suppose to just look the other way? So I decided to make use of some of the lesser-used druidic powers, and maledict you up, and then give you the chance to survive on your own. Had to beat Jisjis away from you with a stick though, he wanted blood :)

As for the venting, not a problem. We're supposed to be enemies, and Baltherias isn't exactly...a lovy-dovy druid anyways, so he's willing to handle a few barbs. All in all though, I respected your attitude, and liked seeing you around more than most Tribunals. Though, honestly...it *WAS* a little crazy for Thonthoz to try those retrievals on the full moon. Hope you're around again soon.

Lacutir was just not feeling right. He must have had the worst luck stat and that combined with my rashness meant I lost a fair few fights more than I won. I was experimenting with APs some more and so far I like felar, hate fire and mildly dislike arials. I could just never get a group that would stay around for long enough. I was left languishing sub 40 and felt the character was going nowhere. Never got much out of Runaktla and was always hunted by everyone rather than grouped with. I will be taking what I learnt and improving on it.

-----Abernyte

P.S. Like Thonthoz even though his duty to the spire made him a frustrating groupmate. One minute we are chuggin along and then your gone.
39172, Has anyone ever asked if we could have the luck stat posted on the premiums? n/t

..
39173, Or what it allegedly does?
Posted by Valguarnera on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I mean, I'm a coder and I have no clue. Help me out.

39175, Is this serious or am I catching sarcasm for no reason
Posted by Aks on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Anyway, I just thought it would be kinda neat to see how lucky some people Were after they are dead and gone, not what it does or what you think it does, just a number or a nice little phrase to represent such.
39176, I am serious.

I have no clue what luck (*) does, or what you think luck does. I know there's some ancient code somewhere that mentions it (as Zulgh confirmed here a while ago), but I really don't know what it is, which implies to me it doesn't come up often.

(*): In the sense of it being a permanent part of your character, not in the sense of getting more favorable results than expected from the random number generator. Every character has streaks of the latter kind- our RNG is lightning-fast (which is essential for our code), but occasionally more streaky than we'd like, and we don't track that sort of thing.

39215, I dont use the term 'luck stat' as a tangible quantity, just bad run n/t

Thonthoz was a well-RP:ed character. I liked it how you picked yourself up after Muug one-rounded you with that flurry in Dragon Sea. It is just a game and you sure know it. It was nice to know Thonthoz IC. See you in the fields.

Heh that was classic, it was probably the third time after my induction and you slammed Thonthoz, and Im thinking #### I guess Im obligated to hit you now, but freaking cos of that one-rounder!
39216, Had respect for you.
Posted by Nightwiggler on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
You really tried to retrieve, in the midranks when I was still around. Glad I didn't have to retrieve against you too much. Dagger spec could have been a pain out of wilderness.

You got it man I was pretty fresh that was my first time in a Cabal. Thanks for spreading the knowledge on Cabal tactics, and the great assassin gear in Velkyn. Had plenty of fun grouping with you, it was a damn shame you hated orcs cos you and Grogogh were always on with me. Good times.
