33676, the fun stopped and the felar AP experiment ends!
Posted by Abernyte on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Hratikit was an experiment for me in terms of a mage class, finding wands and ofcourse being a felar AP.

Problems with felar APs: Only really 1

Vault is a very cool skill and I love it but an unholy spear makes for an unhappy AP because of the whole remove unholy (could get jacked;slept;stolen) wield wands, zap self, wield unholy before the tick so that your hps and mana are not affected. APs could use an evoke time command where they can use a 'protection' wand from their inventory out of combat only so it is not like the old invoke or the current.

Problems playing a felar AP Scion: Ranking with groups.

NO friends!
Ragers hates you, your a mage.
Imperials hate you, your a scion.
Outlanders hate you, your type of magic is bad.
Fortress hate you, your evil.
Tribunals hate you, your chaotic and your cabal often wars with theirs.
This leaves for very few groupmates and at my playing times thats quartered even further. This leads me to my reasons for deleting. Two words 'New Management', Akscereh was alright, never had a problem per say but Restraal and your notes about me having to report on what I do with my time when 'awake' and how my ranking is going was just the fun-stick breaker! I tried to group when I could, I solo killed 90% of the time and I defended, retrieved religiously so to see Slyphur kicked out for so called lack of being about and then having a note with a similar feel from you just plain annoyed me. I wanted to get a good few hours to myself to start ranking to hero as I really wanted to get there but GF and DIY in the new house as well as Christmas obligations made this tough and so as predicted I got stranded at 43 and had to suffer the pain that is goodie conjurers. Nothing worse to a young AP than a bored hero conjurer but thats by the by. No bones about it you killed off the character Restraal with your stupid ass notes and expectations.
Due to the fun leakage from the party balloon I started taking silly risks as mentioned below by one of the conjurers, the last one to kill me and I also could have run from a gaylord storm warrior who I twatted earlier that day but who came after me seeing I was writhing and reclothing from having died recently, not to mention slept/spelled up an Imperial bard to help my reclothing but that was when I decided enough was enough. Hope this explains it all to those who might be interested.

As for kills, well I think I had about 40 and deaths, not including the last silly two were about 11-12 so not bad really for such an experiment. Sealing the kill was always the problem, 10 successful bashes when enlarged on the storm paladin and the when he is convulsing the RNG screws you and you miss. Anyway, much fun to a point!

33682, I knew it was you.

from your Dio's post. I understand that we play at different times. However, look at things from my point of view:

I'm under pressure to clear out dead weight. This includes anyone less-than-spectacular, not just people who straight suck. I never see you, and although I play during prime system time, occassionally over the past couple months I've been able to log in much earlier. I also receive various reports from several different people who are pretty reliable in my opinion that you are level sitting and not actively doing anything to further Scion's goals. Considering all these variables, I had a tough call to make IC with you.

I of course have the right to be a straight hardass and remove you for lack of 'visible' performance, but I as a player wanted to give you the benefit of the doubt. Yes, I did ask you to report your doings to me, but if you'll notice, I also invited you to seek a meeting with me to explain things IC. Even though our playing times are not similar, I can be flexible on weekends and the odd holiday and was hoping that you would set something up.

In any case, I'm sorry that I asked you to write me notes on your progress rather than just removing you without a chance given the 'evidence' in hand and other characters actively competing for Scion spots. I suppose a public bitch-out is no less than what I deserve, and it's motivating me to just straight remove people who I don't see actively playing.
33683, Also, I had nothing to do with Slyphur.

I don't even know who that person is.
33749, not slyphur, wrong necro I though of, sorry, meant synnarllo n/t

Or you consider note writing to be a total bunch of wank.

He's said he's retrieved and defended. What actually are you contributing to the scion "goals" over and above this. I'd hedge not much other than any imm-controlled quests you could possibly be part of.

(unless the gank logs that you posted were something special)
33739, There's a lot more to being a Scion than that.
Posted by Muuloc on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
You would hedge wrong. There is a lot more to being a Scion than retrieving, defending, hunting, ranking, and waiting for imm-controlled quests. If Restraal didn't understand that and do his part, he would not be Advisor. If he did not compel others to do their part, he would not be Advisor for long.

33746, I guess....

that researching a certain magical quest IC was not enough either then. I was not going to give all the details over in a one but made out I was searching my old scrolls etc before I aided the chancellor with our new magical findings but again, secrets between characters are seldom shared and so seldom known.

P.S. Really liked Muuloc, keep up the good work!
33725, well...

I am not holding grudges and did not want to come across as a mega bitching ooc note but the note thing I found condecending. My total hours shows that I ranked up quickly then I was away when you and others sped to hero in days and I was left waiting for the next wave that never came. I was always actively hunting, raiding, retrieving like I said. It is the reason that the scepter was in the chasm when most of you logged on. I was going to wait till I got my fire control before advancing to hero but decided just before your first note to push for hero when I met Meronir and a couple of others who did not want me dead. I loved APs in general and felar aps are very cool, maybe another time....good luck with the leadership role they are unforgiving.

Did we even meet? ;-) My playing times are rather wack for normal people I believe, and no offense, but I don't recall seeing you.

I saw you on often both when I was in scion and when I was not. However like Restraal stated and as Dreaa proved if you dont play prime time where you get seen doing things then you dont exist.

Scion is a cabal of bias, like it or not. You can move mountains and get 0 reward. As it has been for 90% of my characters (esp considering my playing time)

I had 3 days off work and decided I would have some fun, first day I got inducted into scion through huge imm interaction and pc interaction. 2nd day I got given a last name, 3rd day I got bonus immortal xp. All this just because I played during my early mornings 9am to 12pm. All this a good 200 hours after I started playing.

Since i work, i normally dont get to log on and play such times. I normally log on around 7pm my time, which is early morning 2am to 8 am for most players. Occasionally I would see Muuloc on, Or Hylo. But I got ####ed over by Dreaa because I wasnt playing prime time.

I find it Ironic how a comment was made, other things are supposed to be done besides raid retrieve pk and xp. Id love to know how such can be done if your told the following:

YOU MUST AT ALL TIMES ENSURE THE SCEPTRE IS IN ITS RIGHT PLACE!
Do you dare ignore what someone who has the power to uninduct says. Perhaps I should have because I followed their rule of thumb and got kicked for it.

- That alone ensured that all those late nights I was on I spent regearing, raising a army and trying to retrieve only to be obliterated in new and creative weird and wonderfull ways. By the 15 + enmies that I normally faced.

- Being on late night for me ment that I faced a group of outlanders, a small army of Imperials, the regular fortress mob squad and the blood lustly maran. Seriously... 1 vs 15 isnt easy... esp if your trying to retrieve during all this time as well as animate a army so you can actually kill ####. Old to have it summoned away, or destroyed when you word/tele from a group of 5 running through where you are and being unable to target summon them, or even summon them due to their high level.

Last words:

This is a game, I play it to have fun. Scion RP pulled my character into its folds then after wearing a ####load out of him tossed him aside. There are no rewards for not playing prime time.

I guess cf might as well shutdown when its not primetime. For it isnt scion which this applies for. The whole game is bias towards primetime. No title/leader position or rewards are granted unless your a local (by that I mean a prime time player).

33788, You have no idea

How much this whole discussion is annoying me.

I need to let it go I guess.

33791, I love you in game and irl, your the best thing scion c...
Posted by Synnarlo on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Your like the saving grace of the cabal in my view. You RP cuts through alot of the red tape #### that I have faced with this character and dozens before(not all scion orientated).

I can not even fathom how much pressure is put on you by the immortals. Personaly I think that if your put in a position of power, you the player should then be able to dictate what is done and what is not.

If the immortals want the cabal to walk a certain path. Automate it. Dont place the burden on the players shoulders to #### over other players who probaly dont understand or even see the big picture. When a player says do xyz but really means to do ABC how is the player supposed to know which to do. This is a all to common problem. If a leader of a cabal says to do xyz and you do xyz nonstop you should'nt be punished for it(one would assume you would be rewarded for it).

Restraal What you said to me in game in character has brought me back from the brink of deleting more times than you would imagine. Dont think that your the focal point of this, you are not. Your the messenger of a broken system that those pulling the string fail to see at times. I hope that I can inspire you as you have inspired me to keep on trucking!

GO THE DROW POWA! (except me, im a meat popsickle)
33797, It shouldnt bother you...
Posted by Lightmaged on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
but you shouldnt be denying that it happens.

Abernyte is a skilled player. I mean, just accept what he is saying. Hell of a lot of other people are saying the same thing about being passed over when playing during non-peak times or times no one is watching.

Hell its been going on for years with Scion.
33806, I think there's a solution.
Posted by Muuloc on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Hratikit wasn't removed. From what I understand, he was asked to send notes explaining what's he does when he's around.

That seems like a simple solution. If I was Chancellor or Advisor or a Scion Imm and I got regular letters from a Scion who obviously was around when I wasn't letting me know that he spent his time battling huge armies defending the Scepter, or he was researching magic area X and his last discovery was Y, or he slew this guy and that guy. Just short simple notes in whatever tone is appropriate to the character...then I would be glad to keep him around. But if I have no knowledge of what they are doing and they delete as soon as I ask, well, that's that. It doesn't matter if the player is skilled or not at that point.

I would prefer Scion had a round the clock presence, but that's gonna take work. Its silly to expect to be able to be a Scion but not give your leaders any indication of your worth.

So yes, playing at off times will require a bit more work(writing a quick note before you log off) and offers less chance of immteraction(because maybe they are around less when you are), but its does not mean you cannot play an effective Scion and take part in imm run quests.

33812, I agree and add to it. txt
Posted by Synnarlo on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
The door should swing both ways here.

The leaders could mention in notes to the cabal, look for XYZ. Explore these areas. Send reports back when you have done so. We accomplished this quest, discovered this that and also some of these things.

Its the bias that is annoying. Why should we have to do the extra work ? That is my point. We are being punished for the times we play. By people who have no concept and dont really care either. That was the point being made.

Restraal made a good snap asking for notes, the bad snap however would be to have it be one sided. Having the whole cabal report in is what I would have expected.

Synnarlo even had a whole report of usefull items, locations and such that was going to be delivered to the cabal. It was something I was working on and didnt want to trickle in, but rather lump it together. I guess I was to late for such things.

Anyway. There is a problem, It has been identified, It isnt scion specific.
33815, I see what you're saying
Posted by Restraal on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
The thing is, I'm not omnipresent. I understand there are others outside of my timeframe that play. With them, the only way I can track their movements is via note. Unfortunately I'm the Advisor, and appraising characters for worth is what I do, so for those I don't see, I'm going to have to ask for notes.

For those I *do* see, as everyone in Scion right now can testify, I regularly pull them into the Meeting Chambers and give them the 'why should I keep you around/what are your current activities?' talk. Personally, I think the two somewhat cancel each other out. For those in my timeframe, they get my personal attention whether they want it or not. For those who aren't they don't get grilled as hard, but will have to pen notes every once in a while letting me know what's up.

If you think about it, it could actually work in your favor. Instead of having me in your face probing for lies/misinformation, all you have to do is make up plausible lies that can't be verified and send them to me }(
33840, Have to agree with Synnarlo
Posted by Hratikit on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Your very cool in the game and I loved your character and I guess I took it too personally when I was questioned about my current rank etc. My character was only 130ish hours total so the tone of the note being, we think your level sitting and want you to rank irk'd me but its done now and in hindsight the note thing was not completly bad but the tone of the one I got was what set me off. Maybe I should try RP'ing a pacifist as its so far removed from the real me. Occassionally the lines get blurred. Keep your pecker up Restraal!

33897, No one is doing anything to you...
Posted by Muuloc on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
There's something about this post that twists things. No one is punishing you. Nobody has no concept and doesn't care, unless you are talking about people roleplaying evil leaders, which you should expect if your trying to join Scion.

You don't have to do extra work, you have to do different work. Write notes instead of have conversations(Cabal leaders have to do both and lots, so if that's extra work to you, I don't recommend leadership). If you prefer conversations, I can certainly understand that, but no one is trying to give you the shaft. And its not that no one cares, its just I can't think of a better solution. I'll always be open to suggestions though.

As far as expecting the leaders to send notes to the cabal detailing quests and such...induction alone doesn't earn the full confidence of evil leaders. Proving yourself an indispensable ally can.
33790, There may be some truth in that
Posted by Daurwyn on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
But there is definitely some falsehood.

For example, part of the reason Daurwyn was made a leader of warlock (apparently) was in order to give the cabal leadership outside of prime time (me being European), whilst the imms gave it leadership in prime-time. So sometimes these things not only go to people outside of prime time, but intentionally so.

That said, I have had a lot more happen with my chars when for some reason I am playing at 4 a.m., considering how rarely I do it. But what's the alternative, barring European/Asian/Aussie imms? You can't expect the Yanks to get up at 4am just to give you some immteraction.
33796, Totally agree. (Text)

There are and have been many fine solo-scions who pu up one hell of a fight during non-peak Scion hours. Anyone who is playing a Scion during those hours is limited in all aspects.

"Timmy logs on every morning at 4:30 and does the best damn 30 minutes of roleplaying ever"

I have played alot of Scions and have seen this trend first hand, including when I was Chancellor. You will miss out on cool Valg quests and inner workings if you play when they are sleeping in real life..... Log on a a rediculous time of the day (in your eyes) and you will see people you never knew were Scions. (Past tense).

WHo the hell are you, says the Chancellor? I havent seen you, and you are taking up space...goodbye.

THere isnt even an arguement to what you are saying. You need to get noticed....

WOuld have been tough to get another charged weapon during the playtimes you play in. Seems alot of Outlanders or Marans play during them. Not sure why you attacked maran without preparing better with me in sight. Tesseract is mean.

You certainly seemed competent enough to bring your felar anti-paladin to rank 51 without much problems, and in fact I was fully expecting you to. Mind if I ask what happened?
