At 5 o'clock PM, Day of the Great Gods, 19th of the Month of the Winter Wolf
on the Theran calendar Dremkal perished, never to return.
Race:svirfnebli

Ethos:Neutral

32686, Little bit about how I felt about the combo for those who like that stuff.
Posted by Bajula on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Svirf pole/hand chilling embrace and landslide.

Stoneskin, major handy for when the blunt stuff comes. :)
I didn't use this until I got a VERY clear okay from
someone in battle. and then used it only when fighting
more than one fella (once I got old though I used it all
the time - went with my new philosophy: no matter what I
see they are NEVER alone :) ) oh and the mages and ranger
ranking, I skipped it for 'fairness' figured I'd die and
take one or two of ya with me. then I turned retarded and
bashed alot. first time I did that after say 20th lvl or so.

polearm, chargeset offsets alot of the problems with a crappy
connect (I almost have the gf talked into broadband. but she
sat down last night and before my eyes verbaly spent all my
paychecks well into february. as I goggled at her with slack-jawed
amazement at her audacity she says 'What is it? would you rather...'
and proceeded to respend it all a different way) *scream*

cutoff was nice, but failed at the last moment. I never could learn parting blow well. I'm guessing whimpy kicking in gives much better
odds of getting away from cutoff than just flee. (just a guess mind you) I think it worked all the way once on a thief or assassin who
was just as shocked as I.

The rest was as you'd expect.

Hand, likely much as many a villager I took it just to be able to
fight a little after not having a weapon or too weak to hold one.
I rarely tried to stun, for those who claimed it was over powered
It worked twice in pk I think. in my whole life twice.
good for mobs though when you need a lunch break, or breaking up piles.
rest of it is as you'd expect.

Chilling: took this to offset being more of a defensive guy
than anything else and to help boost that hand thing some.
worked out well I think.

Landslide: Since I drove alot when younger when the time came
I thought what the hell, let's try it out.
Very very cool when you can use it, and when unlike me you remember
to drive. heh, after several deaths I noticed I wasn't driving like
I used to. Somewhere in the middle I had stopped driving and gotten
out of the habit. So I set about doing it again.
Loved it.

Battle: anyone who thinks it is overpowered, roll one up.
Beyond proving yourself to get in.
dying because you can't quaff a teleport, or in many-a-case
flight, can't accept healing from most folk, etc.. etc..
ad infinitum... ad nauseum...

Well worth it, for once I never got that 'i'm getting sick of this
guy' feeling. And There were only a couple of VERY short moments
of 'I ought to delete'.
First was during the induction interview. (Thanks Jinroh, BTW- you
were why this guy was created if you still read these, after Glilanthis I just had to see.) I knew when he told me he expected me
to kill more than any other villager that there was no way in hell.
so I almost deleted right there in the middle of the conversation.
Thought it would be rude though, and decided to just do my best.
(If you are still about what prompted you to induct me anyway, I had already given up, long past)

Then was after the sale of business, ended up with a new isp and
dementedly crappy connect (not gonna roll another until that is
fixed/replaced) A really pathetic run of deaths and a moment of
depression set it.

and then the new job, no play time. I thought
I'd delete to not take up a spot. The quiet lady helped talk me
out of that. :) and of course I figured there aren't many villagers anyway.... Okay, okay I just have trouble 'giving up'.

as for class on class:
Thieves and assassins: someone tells you 'uberscary sneaky guy is
about.' *dismiss out of hand and go stand on eastern daring them to
strike*
I think I got assassinated once. Go Kuriach! Dammit I really
liked you why'd ya have ta go and be scion! :)

pretty much any wizard:Where is he/she??? *begin salivating.*
shifters seemed to do the best. few exceptions.. Taidyn *groan*
'there goes a third con' :) Good job btw.

Druids and rangers: never really fought. couple of minor scrapes.

Healers: a pointless exercise on both sides. other than maybe a healer
gating to see where to send his cronies.

Shamans : *groan* my true bane. muuloc has the best way to kill a
fella like me. :) well done ya sick basta... er.. :)

warriors: C'mon let's see what ya got. Alot of that depended on
how well we knew each other's 'style'

Can't think of anything else off the top of my head and time for work.
Cya,
Baj.
32712, I'm the cut-off victim
Posted by Haamrl on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I think you cut me off six times when I fought you at the village. Unlike you, I've always been under the impression that wimpy is more likely to trigger cut-off than flee. Dying to you then didn't leave a bad taste in my mouth. Dying to some of the questionable alliances involving other villagers that I came up against did.
32650, Well that was fun.
Posted by Bajula on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Though my character sheet in game said 403 hours.

First rager, just had to see.
Much fun. Best part: not being hassled by cabal-mates
about how I should go gather preps! :)

worst part: Other people tring to force thier ideas
of what 'honor' is onto drem.

Battle: You guys rock, even the few who came off as asses
were still fun to be around most of the time.
I really had no clue what a rager faced in thier life.
I'll be back less ya think I sucked so bad ya don't want
me back :)

Wow there is just way too much, I'll have to try to remember
all the folks and give a yell. holler if ya have anything to
say. Most of it was fun.

See ya another time. Gotta take a break for a bit.
During this char's life I sold my business, then had long
play hours for a while, then got me an IT supervisor job
and spare time evaporated.
The grandkids moved away. Got a new car, which my step daughter
borrowed and promptly wrecked.
At the new job, the boss knows me and said I can't mud at work
hehe. any game I can pause I can play. *grumble*
oh well I'm tired, I logged on intending to go til he died, and I need
a nap or maybe a beer and a nap.

Holler and I'll holler back.

Dremkal, Glilanthis, Vanadulin, Xargnorek, Dimion, etc..
Bajula.
32651, Arrgh!
Posted by Elsworth on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
So it was *you*, the nasty Bajula! We *need* jolly fun people like you in the game. Can't wait to see your next character, so don't disappoint! =)

Elsworth/Calcifer/Lene/Arilyn/Benvale
32721, 'Preciate it.
Posted by Bajula on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Not sure the game needs me or anything, but I'll
take the compliment :)
32652, RE: Well that was fun.
Posted by Liurnya on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I had such a strong feleling this was you right away somehow. Must be a sixth sense. You were Lerrik right? Remember running around on eastern road fighting empirials together with Silmareen? That was a blast, and all my time spent with you with Liurnya I enjoyed also. And then there was Scharnz and Glilanthis. Geez that's some weird coincidences. Anyway as i've said before people like you keep this game lighthearted and above all fun. Sounds like you have a busy life so good luck with that. Although it would be all too freaky, I really hope our characters cross paths in the future.
Take care,
Dindon
32720, I thought I replied to this but apparently it didn't take.
Posted by Bajula on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Yep was Lerrik, Sil was cool, Scharnz was cool.
Liu was just a perfect cat to have around.
:) I really try for making things fun for others
and not just me. So I appreciate the compliment.
Certain players are just drawn to the major
load of characters I play. It's that whole joking
in the face of death, quirky humor thing I guess.

(I have had a handful of mean characters though.
but no one remembers them :) )
Anyway Yes you will likely run into me again.
About 5-10 people I seem to run into all the time.
I only catch it after they are dead at least.

as for Liu, thanks for everything, even the spar in
the ar'touldain when we first met. :)
The first reply I posted was days ago. not sure why
it didn't go, but there was a lot of this and that
were cool/awesome/etc... but suffice that I felt
Liu was a great character, and a better villager than
I could have been. As always massive fun :)

(Had I had a clue who ya were I'd have tried the
hold the eastern road thing again. hehe)

32673, Well, that was interesting
Posted by incognito on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I thought Dremkal had more honor than most villagers I saw firsthand (i.e. not including Acaga in this, for example), and I remember you saying to me that you were going to stand up to the village about it even though you knew it was going to get you killed in the circle.
32680, A few odd things.
Posted by Bajula on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I never ended up in the circle, things just stopped
shy of it, a few orders via notes from the commander
I took issue with, but I intended to take it up with
him (and I knew he'd prolly whoop me in the circle)
but we just never played at the same time. saw him
twice i think. once before being in the village heh.

and another odd thing I noticed at the very end of my life.
I never struck a fortress mage inside the fort.
part was I would not hit the guardians out of respect
to my lord, but when it was open, and I went after
A scion or imperial, I just happened to miss a wizard
and they got to the altar room. Where I wouldn't go.

I fully intended to face the troubles (and deaths)
related to these things, but they just never came up.
got lucky there. I was trying to stay in balance there
but I know I probably leaned towards goodie.

The few times I failed following my code of honor
I either sent notes or made apologies or both.
sometimes even if I was unaware that another was
hunting the same prey I was. Personally I think
I did pretty good with following it.
Couple of slips. but Single combat went out the window
when it was 'war' (I.e. cabal vs cabal) Which I could
have stretched to other situtations, empire at war with
village in general, or scion etc.. but I just decided
early on not to.
I don't know how many times I "say Mine!" 'd
when someone else jumped on my prey. so I probably
don't have near the 1.00 on the gank thing I was looking for.
:) oh well. It was still a total blast.
I was just trying not to suck too bad as a villager.
hehe. I'd like to think I pulled off not sucking.
I wasn't great, but compared to my normal abilities
in pk'ing, this was probably my best.
32682, RE: Well that was fun.
Posted by Antonija on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I enjoyed playing around with you. I never thought this was your first rager - good to know people are still trying them out and we are not stuck with the same batch of people continually. Good luck with your next.

Antonija
32685, :) Was nice interacting with you as well.
Posted by Bajula on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Every moment around you was great. I don't even regret the distressing 'reading while on the run bit' Sorry about the shifter in
organia though. To be honest, I had to get up to go to the restroom.
Sorry there, it happens though. Might not have changed much, but had I called truesight BEFORE I went, I would have been on him the instant you fell. Had we not been so 'you have this one I have that one' we'd have been a really really scary team. couple of trips thrown
in towards the end where cutoff always failed me..... Well I wouldn't have had it any other way, but every time the thought hit me I thought
'Oh! that would be just sick.'
Probably at work today I'll be working on a real goodbye note at lunch
or when nothing is happening. (Heh, things have been busy so maybe not)
Loved that character by the way.

32688, RE: Well that was fun.
Posted by wakeup_deadman on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I remember fighting you with my last character of any serious effort...Lorgacin. Didn't know you were a pole spec, and imagine my surprise the first charge set I took. Thought you were well played, and I knew there would always be a good fight to ensue. We joked back and forth about people taking my arial gear that they could not use and I have to say it was nice to die to someone and know that my stuff would be there when I got back. Well done from what I saw, though it was the mid and upper thirties back then.
32701, I remember ya very well and here's a tip.
Posted by Bajula on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
When fighting a svirf with a spear spec
pick up a staff and pugil the ####e outta them
:) You woulda had a couple of those won that
way even through stoneskin. I remember saying
I would tell ya that after I died or something.

I thought the conversations about boots and
things were great btw.

32726, RE: I remember ya very well and here's a tip.
Posted by wakeup_deadman on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Wow, you know I always used a staff on gnomes...but for some reason (brain fart I assume) I never used it against you. Man I'm feeling sheepish now. heh.
32728, :) Hehehe
Posted by Bajula on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I always wondered, figured you were new to playing
spear/staff specs or something.

I learned many of the mistakes you can make with
spears as lerrik, maybe one day I'll make one
and learn the right things to do in given situations.
:)
Hope to see you again though, perhaps on the same side
this time :)
32696, Bleh
Posted by Iborenn on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I wasn't sure what to think of you
You kinda did ok in some situations but othertimes.. heh you got hammmmmmered. Heh, I didn't get to see much of you, but I can say I did enjoy enteracting with Dimion, hopefully Dremkal was as entertaining.
See you in fields.
32702, Hehe No kidding.
Posted by Bajula on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Part of it I am thinkin' was pre-40's I had a different
connection and apparently did way way better.
after the new connect, Sometimes I'd hit flee when things
were bad, and on top of any lag from the pile-up was lag
from my pos connect.
So If I needed to flee, it was already over.
Sometimes It was just bad timing. I'd go in ready for
some particular fella who was just there, then they are gone
I wander off to do something else, and there they are up
my little svrif's bum, with friends.
:)
Or when I use stoneskin fought a couple of people then
they come back with a couple more and I was 10 hrs from stone
skin again and they had maces/staves etc.. just.. ouch.
:)
And there is the always standing - I suck in pk.*
:)

I was working out different things, trying this and
that and just learning.
Well okay part of that again was my personal views on
running from fights. If your character prattles about
death before blah blah blah. best be ready to back it up.
I'f I feel my character would die before letting scion
into the village, there could be 20 of them at the door
and I'd be right in the mix, knowing I would die and
feeling it was well worth it. I was surprised at some
of the statements in battle about staying alive.
I have to say VERY HAPPILY there were about a tenth
of the statements as other cabals I have tried.

While I disagreed with a couple of the policies from you.
The notes showed you as a real leader. even if some claim
you are absent much, You are about often enough to direct
general policy by note. (I would have taken up the two
things I was against IC the next time I saw you and
spoke of it, and possibly fought over it depending
on you reaction to what I had to say. )
I did my best to follow orders and keep my honor.
Long ago was the short time of loot the imperials.
Drem was very against that. One fella was already deleting. So
I guess it was cool, I explained to foes that I was folowing
orders etc.. Then I hit on a bad/sneaky idea. follow the letter
of your command to take everything I could from the corpses.
So the next guy I took it, and dropped it right there.
That was shanta I think, he never came back for it.
Probably shouldn't have done that. It was they closest I
came to disobeying you. The imperial truce though, While
Dremkal wanted peace with them and all, (hoping for the impossible
but desired removal of the wizards :) ) The way they took it
pissed me off to no end.

*Disclaimer -I had way more 'miracle plays' this time around maybe I
am getting better. Long before battle powers I was doing
things that were equal to Dimion vs Mirdulad, Straklaw and
the orcish horde. Interestingly, I was dissapointed with
easy kills, and only wowed when I knew I was facing bad odds
thought out what to do, did it, corrected for changes in my
enemies tactics and pulled it off.
