That's unfortunate. At first, I thought that we had just developed conflicting playing times or that your absence perhaps was only a temporary thing. After a while though it became quite clear that you had lost your interest in him. And so here we are.
I want to take this oppurtunity to tell you that the interactions Arthakar had with Kabarha were among the most interesting of the character's life. The demise of Kabarha is something I'd describe as the end of Arthakar's cosmic mirror image really. The two were almost complete opposites to each other in every way I could think of. Where your character was a spiritualist and a mystic, mine was an enigmatic type of atheist. Where Kabarha was benign and kind, Arthakar was treacherous and malevolent. Where Kabarha had accepted the light, Arthakar had embraced the dark. I suppose it really was only a matter of time before they ended up colliding with one another, and thus giving us the many interactions and discussions that we had. Especially with the two of them almost looking like arguing brothers at times, who had gone their seperate ways a long time ago and who had now run into each other again. Indeed, good times Kabarha. Good times.
I will miss them.
Arthakar

Kabarha was around when Vahl was a youngster. By the way Kabarha, I didn't really know you that well but I always liked your hello. "The spirits greet, yesssssssss"

Well you wernt too observant then cause I was on at the same time as you at least three or four times. :p All in all I wasnt around at all after about the start of March due to crap going on IRL. *shrugs* I couldnt bring myself to delete him so figured I'd just let him fade away.
Few good byes:
Vynmylak: I love you man. You are awesome to interact with and your religion fit so beautifully into my role it was silly. Hopefully time will allow me to make another follow someday in the future.
Shokai: Thanks for the talk in the Hall of Light, was having issues balancing out the rage/honor and you helping me move to Acolyte was wonderful.
Ancient Knight: Sorry if I came across as an ass to you, but I still feel you were wrong :p
Vor(cardinal): Thanks for all the talks and the time spent with me, you were hella cool in mine and Kabby's eyes.
Nhiala: Raiding the palace and chasm with you was perhaps the most fun thing I did in the whole time I had Kabarha. Thanks and good luck up top :)
Grenmosh: $%^&ing gnomes, I hated them too ;-)
That's about all I can remember, it's been a long time since I really played. If you remember me just hollar :P

28335, Intentional Auto-Deletion of Important Characters...

"I couldnt bring myself to delete him so figured I'd just let him fade away."
This is not a knock at you, but often, a character has more of an impact than you might think. Kabarha had a high position in the Fortress as one of the elder Acolytes. Whether he liked it or not, he made an impact on others.
For one, I had been looking to ask you a few questions and involve you in Fortress matters. There are few Acolytes to manage the applicants and scribes, so every Acolyte makes a difference. We have a handful of applications, but seats are limited. There are longstanding scribes who wish to be promoted, but have been held back for numeric reasons. More specifically, Audriel was railed for something Kabarha did in Barovia, after which he promptly logged off.
So if you can help it, don't fade away intentionally.
This is more of a constructive thought and is not really directed at you. Auto-deletion happens. My point is that although CF is a game, let others play if you KNOW you don't want to. Everyone has some sort of an impact in this game - especially high ranking/senior characters.

I dont mean to slam you here, but if you believe this, you are a moron. There is not a limited number of acolyte spots, the only thing that limits the number of acolytes there are is the ability of the players.
As for the instance in barovia, I was boggled that you asked me at least 8 times over the CB if I was alright when you knew a shifter was slept by an inrange necro. As an acolyte you should have been instantly headed to barovia to help the ram regardless of who it was.

The number of current Acolytes and Marans affects promotions because it raises the bar in many respects. Again, I wouldn't know - I'm just a moron. Maybe the more knowledgeable IMMs could verify.

I did not ask you eight times - try twice. Cardinal Thalric was right there as well, speaking with me about it. The reason I asked is that you might have been in a better location to help whoever was injured - as we were quite far. And yes, we headed there as soon as we found out someone was injured - thanks to another person who actually cared about you and notified us. You fell just as we arrived, but the necro was then dealt with. Once you logged off, I had to answer for why that happened in the first place. We don't normally have Acolytes attacking necros in their guild.
I'm not criticizing you. I just want you to know that there were other characters, including mine, who were wondering what happened to you. Heaven forbid -- some people might actually care about how you're doing and wonder where the hell you went.

You obviously know #### all about this. We're not allowed to induct right now. Want to know why? We're too full. Too many members when the imms check the total number of people in the cabal. This number doesn't take things into account, like for example, some dumbass who wants to let their character autodelete. This character sits there, taking up a slot that could be better filled by someone who wactually wants to play. But nope. Instead we have someone who is just too ####ing lazy to log in and type delete twice.
The fortress is not a large cabal. We have far fewer members than say, the Imperials, who happen to be those we come into conflict with the most. The spot you took up for the month it took you to auto, could even as we speak have been filled by someone who actually wants to be in the Fort and play a char, but can't because we have to turn them away.
Next time, just spend the ten seconds it takes to log in and delete. Or better yet, just don't join the cabal in the first place.

28350, One spot doesn't make a huge difference
Posted by You are cool on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
The guy had RL problems. All you two are doing is attacking the player. How many countless other people auto delete? Perhaps people hold on to their characters that are important because they don't have the heart to delete with the hope of gaining the time again? Perhaps it is time you uninduct those squires that show no potential. A leader comes with two ends. If their are more valiant and worthy people seeking to join you, it is your responsibility I believe to look into it. Drop the bad, hire the good.
Audriel... as far as the necromancer thing.. who says an acolyte cannot strike a necromancer in his guild?

28355, Audriel is not attacking the player
Posted by incognito on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Audriel is pointing out that those in leadership positions have responsibilities to the other players.
If, as a leader, you know you won't be playing, which he did (I paraphrase/quote "I decided to let him fade away"), you should let imms know.
Audriel was pointing this out constructively, not critically.

28354, the empire is more numerous?
Posted by incognito on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Not denying that this is the case, but are you sure it is accurate over recent weeks? I know it definitely used to be the case, but I was under the distinct impression that is isn't by a long way now, and hasn't been for, say, around a month? I know Baendra was always hugely outnumbered during the latter 100 hours of her life. Empire was the massive power for probably the first 200 hours.
I also would have thought that restrictions on inductions would be based on the observed effect of numbers (e.g. if one cabal is seen dominating with large groups on for most of the time), rather than just purely the numbers of characters that are caballed.

My post may have come off harsher than intended, but this is a sore spot for me right now.

I was the only Fortress memeber on yesterday for about 8 hours, with anywhere from 7-12 Imperials on at the same time. Trust me, every no-show member matters.
As for his not being able to log in, thats not what he said. He said he couldn't bring himself to delete, so he let the character fade away. Come on, if you know the char is going to be gone, just f'ing delete. Get it done and over with, and make room for other people who want to, and can play. Thats all I'm saying.

28364, I know what you meant about fading
Posted by incognito on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I actually supported that argument in my post re Audriel. I totally agree that it is wrong for a leader char to decide to auto-delete. If a leader auto-deletes, it should be because they can't help it.

Could be wrong, I suspect Vyn and Shok are capable of basing induction policy on hours played rather than just the number of people in the cabal. If so, then Kabarha may not have been preventing any applicants from being inducted.
The auto-deletion period is short enough that, to me, it seems like a non-issue. Certainly not something worth flipping out about.
