25991, argh. no revenge for me
Posted by Baendraa on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Dying to you was probably the worst death I've ever had. I couldn't work out what happened until reading my logs, but for some reason after you left, I was unable to leave the room I was in, and it appeared as if I was in combat with you. Since my plan was to cast the forget spell on you, this wasn't helpful. I might well have died anyway, but going down like that really hurt. Especially when I lost my wands and spirit-breaker in the process.

Fighting you in that place gave me the perfect chance for revenge. You must either have had good saves or were very lucky that I never managed to put you to sleep.

You know what's sad? I think I know the exact place you're talking about, since it seemed like all Izhmash did is sit in that one spot.

Let me guess: it involves an ice slick, possibly a vortex, and a mob that casts hold person?

It just got old. I'm not saying you didn't punk some Imperials who really deserved it, because you almost surely did, but I'm guessing you also got some who deserved better.

The repeated use of that one gimmick, while effective, sort of reminded me of the old Dale Cemetary thing. Not in a good way.
26043, no, it wasn't that
Posted by Baendraa on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
It was an out and out bug. I was not being held. Just that he left the area and I was still stuck in combat with him, unable to flee. That meant that when he healed up and came back, I was unable to get first attack.

It was in an area where you wouldn't wait for people to go. It only involved immolating me and then nova'ing me, with him running off in between but me still being stuck in battle with him until he came back afterwards.

Wow, even cheaper. Bummer.
26049, He probably didn't realise what was happening
Posted by Baendraa on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I didn't tell him at the time because I didn't know what had happened either. I was just spamming flee and wondering how I managed to fail to flee so many times. It was only afterwards that I realised he wasn't even in the room, despite me being in combat with him the whole time.
26050, You still have that log? Care to post it?

I sat in that one spot when I had active conflicts going with specific Imperials. The goal was to make them insecure about conflict near their borders. I believe I netted a grand total of 3 kills off of the tactic, plus one lowbie Imperial that I felt bad about OOC. Considering I was uncaballed and generally fighting alone (save for the my waning years where I assisted the Fortress quite a bit), I felt it evened things up for me. I'm sorry if the impression you got is that I camped there - I don't feel that way at all, as 3/4 of my con was lost exploring.

Again, I used that spot to even odds for me and increase Imperial caution.

You certainly did that. Though, I tried to inform as many as I could about your tactics. Then like a total idiot I forgot my own advice and fell into the trap anyway. Woe is me.

Sorry for the misunderstanding then. Maybe it was more frequent in the early part of your life? This was when I was playing Msthna. It seemed like you dropped off the map shortly after that, then the char shifted to "exploration mode".

I found the log. Looking over it , there is definitely an anamoly, specifically how I changed rooms after the ghoul died. It doesn't appear to be from a flee, as that goes through after the room changed. Odd, sorry I didn't notice it at the time.

The stairs above open up into a widened room, utterly overshadowed by the
massive gate occupying the south wall. The gate's surface is inscribed
with a series of complex ciphers, the characters meandering along an
intricate pattern which seems both intricate and beautiful, chaotic and
ordered. Tall enough to allow a giant to pass without stooping, they look
to each be a single, solid piece of iron. An understated glow of light
emanates from the gates themselves, providing only enough light to draw
your gaze, but not so much as to reach much beyond their threshold.

A staircase flagged with smooth granite blocks spirals from the trapdoor
above. The webbing that choked the shrine above is not present here, and
instead a thick layer of dust softly caresses anything horizontal. Your
passing kicks up a humble cloud of white, and every sound conjures forth
deep, hollow echoes. The walls are crossed with a silvery thread of runes,
glinting softly in your light, which pursues the descending stairs into the
darkness.
