One of my main motivations for playing this character was to try directional knock-out traps from the trapper path and gag from binders. Never got gag, not even precision strike, after practicing knock-out. I thought about sticking it out try either try to either A) get a position in Scion, or B) hope the Imms give me gag (since it was a part of the role), but decided against it because A) it became more like a chore when I was playing for a position rather than just logging in a few hours here and there, and B) it isn't wise to only play for Imm handouts.

I have to admit, I'm still a little surprised I wasn't able to get gag. Oh well. My first thief since they could miss jack, flee, and try jack again. Was getting the hang of it toward the end by resorting to being a prep whore.

Zwick, taking a CF break.

Even though interaction between us was limited to me attempting to pincer you, or you attempting to knock me out, I can always respect a person who tries to do something very hard with their role. Being a mute is perhaps one of the hardest I can think of, especially when in a cabal that is under constant attack by nearly every cabal in the game. I gave you respect OOC, but of course IC my character hated you and wished your head on the throne.

Chill for a bit and return, you don't know what you'll miss!

I must admit, he wasn't entirely mute. He spoke to a select group of like 4 people, even then in moderation. It was still much more difficult than I originally envisioned. It is hard to find groups close to hero. Resting visible outside people's guilds didn't really work. It is also quite annoying to be grouped with people and unable to easily communicate with them, i.e. about to fight some paladins with a conjurer and I don't have resist positive, or trying to explain how thief waylay works, and so on.

I've never realized how much I boss people around. *wry*

I liked Zwick. Sort of mysterious.

>I liked Zwick. Sort of mysterious.

Quite the complement, thanks. I've been playing since the time of the Shadow cabal, but never had one in it although I did try with a thief way back when. Zwick was my second Scion but my first real attempt in Scions at recapturing some of that Shadow intrigue and mystique. I didn't spell it out in my written role, but I had a very clear picture in my head of what kind of character I was trying to present. Sorta why I always wore a murderer's hood and a black veil.

Anyway, good luck Xoch, and thanks for the few things you gave me.

I care too, too bad you had to go, sorry for being a #### sort of to you sometimes. I hope your break isnt too long, last time I took a break and came back, Entropy/Warlock/Nexus was gone and Empire was back, boy was I upset...

No hard feelings here. IC Zwich was fuming over that time we grouped, after having promised to help me level yet never doing it, you run off to hang out with your girl. OOC I was chuckling.

I've been trying to quit for six months. The lack of fun with Zwick may make it easier.

Never told anyone your secret. I am curious if you were that lev 30 thief who was asking me for gear or whether you were not, my memory is hazy but you were both duergars. Mind posting your role?

Cheers,
Etarekoth.

Definitely wasn't me.

Like I said up above, I didn't put everything I did with the character into the role. Even so, here it is, edited some for content. Good luck with Scions, not many left.

Subject: The Broad Strokes: Silent Entrapment
Added Thu Oct 9 03:03:25 2003 at level 11:
It isn't that Zwick cannot talk. No, he simply prefers to keep
to keep his mouth shut and eyes open. Let them think whatever
they want. If something must be communicated, Zwick will speak
more physically, through his hands for peace or pain. This
approach stemmed from an encounter with a stranger who took
Zwick's unusually quiet disposition and hesitation to talk
as an indication that Zwick was mute; unable to talk. Zwick
let him assume what he wanted and discovered that people were
more bearable if they shut up. So Zwick prefers to keep his
mouth shut, to encourage others to keep theirs shut in return.

Dishonesty through entrapment? Not so, as Zwick views traps
as honest (and insanely fun) work. It is the fault of the
masses if they don't learn to see the traps.

There are those rare few that Zwick trusts enough to speak
directly and openly to. Zwick hopes to one day find one
competent enough to be his public voice to the world. In
the mean-time, Zwick is trying to dream up a worthy scheme
to bring before the immortal Valguarnera.

Subject: It Continues
Added Mon Oct 27 01:09:58 2003 at level 32:
Adventuring alone in a land of strangers without speaking
is much more challenging than being around those with whom
you are familiar. Nonetheless, Zwick continues, enjoying
those moments of quiet and those moments of bliss when he
completely ignores others. He has determined to continue
to walk without speaking to those unknown, and to still
look for those that can be trusted. Zwick has decide to
learn a few ways of the Hamsah thieves, and in doing so
submerge others into silence, to rob them of the speech
they take for granted.

Zwick wanted to join one of the groups of the land, and it
was not difficult to determine which was best. Those of
Battle were simple-minded barbarians, Tribunial required
too much exposure, and the Empire does not expect their
slaves to keep all from their money pouches. That left
Scion; a curious group that may have a place for silence.

-Edit Scion induction stuff-

As Zwick becomes familiar with the land, he keeps his eyes
open for a worth-while plan to possibly gain the blessings
of the Hydra.

Subject: -Edited- Notices Spoken Magic
Added Sat Nov 1 06:23:38 2003 at level 36:
There is one area where Zwick is unafraid to speak: Magic.
He recites scrolls without concern, he speaks the words
to invoke magical transportations, although he will not
vocally greet strangers. It was through the first of
these, the intoning of scrolls, that another began to
question. Rather than ignore the questions and let them
spread like rusting metal untended, Zwick brought the
-Edited- into his trust. They have travelled
together numerous times, and he agreed to keep this new
knowledge of Zwick's ability to speak confidential.

In a twist of fate only Pico could enjoy, it turns out
that -Edited- is an applicant to the BattleRagers. He
came to fight the Nightwalker, and left after a "tsk tsk"
upon learning at that moment that Zwick was of Scion,
although he did ask Zwick to cut him once to make it look
authentic for himself. Too much is at risk if -Edited-
joins Battle. Zwick will try to straighten this out.

Subject: Talking To Two, Galadon Guild, Planar Traps
Added Thu Nov 20 02:31:32 2003 at level 43:
Zwick has brought two more into his confidence, sharing
his words. It is the Chancellor Foslin, and the Advisor
Mekantos. He only spoke a few words to Foslin before the
Chancellor fought, and departed. Zwick did not have an
opportunity to explain things to him, but hopes to soon,
should Foslin be found again. Zwick began his time in
the Chasm sticking to the shadows, and letting as few as
possible know for certain what he was. In general he
would only strike to retrieve the Ebony Scepter with others
and only struck at those raiding the Chasm if they were
enemies for certain previous. However, it would seem that
word travelled quickly throughout the land, to the point
that the common orc seems to know of Zwick's affliations.
So Zwick is being less cautious with his use of the powers
and in raiding.

Zwick was threatened by the fool Arkaniea to join the
Galadon guild, something Zwick had little intention of
ever doing up till this point. Zwick discussed it with
the Advisor, and they decided it may be worthwhile for
Zwick to gain control of the thieves' guild. Zwick plans
to blackball the foolish thief at first opportunity.

In addition to the above goal, Zwick hopes to become as
proficient with his knock-out traps as possible. Once he
has accomplished this, he plans to see about learning of
the greatest sleeping traps of this plane, and then he
will pursue traps of other planes, such as Hell, or what
he can find from his time among the Scions. And perhaps
one day he can teach those of these planes how to use
traps themselves.

Etarekoth has shown his competence to keep secret.
Zwick has shared his voice with him.
Zwick has not seen Foslin since the first time he spoke
to her. Zwick has also informed the Gods of his desire
to take on greater responsibility within the Scions.

I really liked the character, and it's too bad that I didn't get to interact with you more before you deleted. It always both amused and impressed Vex that you could talk but chose not to. There's a lot more that could be said, but I've noticed out of game comments have a way of affecting the way people interact with my characters, so I'll just cut it short with a 'good job and good luck with the next'. Maybe by the time I'm done with all of this surgery you'll be back killing Vex again.

Yeah, I liked Vexoffesz a lot too. Too bad you joined that cabal. I probably would have talked with Vex, but Zwick was looking for others to be his voice.

I don't think I killed you, did I? I only have one fight between us and I think we both almost died, but we both lived. Anyway, I'm trying to quit CF. Have fun.
