"He is no longer here."
"Well where is he, I've strict instructions to deliver this, no matter what!"
"He is dead, return the missive to the sender and let him know."
"Well just keep it then, it's probably Spire business anyway."
"This is the Spire, courier, our rules are not so soft. It was for him, it must be returned to the sender."
"You don't understand, she will be-"

The guard closed the door before he could finish.

"...incensed."

The courier sighed. There was no way he was going back to that mean lady! Instead, he walked away a few paces and opened and read the missive:

"My dearest Aranir,

I cannot articulate what is swimming in my mind after my nightmare of you, why did you not reply to my warning? I can only assume the miserably sniveling courier I hired failed in his duty. Without your kind ear I am realizing... everything. I am so sorry. I hope this song below finds you, and you will find me before it is too late.

Can we escape to somewhere,
Somewhere that we've never been?
I've got no desire to stay here
If this is where we both will end.

Can you keep your arm around me?
You know just what I haven't said.

I've shown you I'm your friend.

And that word, seemed little more than a curse

The courier could read no more. "By the gods, how pathetic!" he said to himself. He laughed at the rude woman's misfortune, then crumpled the letter up and tossed it into a nearby alley.
