134914, Farewell, from your noobtastic giant
Posted by Jonny on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
This was my first serious character and my first attempt at
creating a role - so thank you to everyone for your patience.

I completely butchered the whole speech thing as I thought a
giant was supposed to be dumb. I read the help file on storm
giant speech a bit too late so I just stuck with the ignorant style
of speech.

I spent a lot of time in the early stages of this character exploring
and trying to learn as much as I could. I'll admit that I was
ridiculously conservative through much of this character's life. I
felt that I was surrounded by strong players and I really wanted to
stick around and soak up as much information as I could. I apologize
if I often deprived some of you from a fight and/or a fair fight.
I'll try to be more aggressive with my next one.

As far as my role/roleplay, I had no idea what I was doing and it was
all over the place. It even took me awhile to handle a death/loot
properly. I was pretty mad in the beginning about dying and losing
gear but I slowly learned to deal with it in an IC way.

I took a shot at a religion but did not really know what I was doing
so it failed miserably.

I want to say a few goodbyes as that seems to be the thing to do!

Korsgaard:
First time really talking to an immortal one-on-one. I was a bit
intimidated but glad I gave it a shot. Although it was brief, I
really enjoyed the interaction. I think it is incredible that you
guys dedicate your time to CF, in this capacity, for free. Thank you!

Drissa:
I think I would have rage deleted and/or flat out deleted on so many
occasions if it were not for you. You got me through the bad deaths
and full loots. I learned a TON from you with respect to PK, Prep,
Exploration and Roleplay. You really helped kick this character into
another gear. I enjoyed our chats and I enjoyed watching a PRO tear
through enemies. Thank you for your patience and guidance!

Erhiadkeb:
You were another influential character. You were the first to point
out my many many mistakes/flaws. I also learned so very much from
you regarding preps. There were times you gave me a step by step
howto on handling elite players like Igos. I really appreciate the
time you gave me. Thank you!

Aehwic:
I really enjoyed our interactions and fighting together. I do not
know the first thing about an invoker but you seem to be pretty
darn awesome at it. You had some great knowledge when it came to
tough areas and had no problem sharing it. Thank you for being a
great Marshall!

Aurew:
Pushed me to think more seriously about roleplaying. You were a
selfless character (Which is what a Cardinal should be?). I had
a blast exploring quests with you. It seemed you were as thirsty
for knowledge as myself at times. It was a fun ride!

Merelith and Jeunne:
You both are great characters and I had an outstanding time
during the later years PK'ing with you!

Igos:
You were a beast and destroyed me even through preps. I cannot
believe you tracked me down through aboleths to get the PK on me.
I still do not know how to handle a player like you. Great job!

Jhelruk:
You probably frustrated me the most out of any enemy. It was bad
enough that you rocked me all the time, but you had such a mouth on
you. I loved it. Thank you for getting me fired up and provoking
me into fights. Great character!

Fugmada:
Had a blast fighting you. Learning to deal with that grappling was
a challenge. It is hard to see what is going on in our fights with
your massive horde lol. You caught me during the tail end of this
character so I was more willing to come at you anywhere and anytime.
You're an amazing orc, thanks for the fun!

Gillador:
Our fights started off evenly matched in the beginning but then you
became a total beast and I could not handle you. Had a great time
interacting with you. Thanks for the fights!

Dhuzir/Hork/Ragast/Kada/Zaric/Karin:
Great time fighting you all. All of you are tough and I had some
real good fights in there. Thank you for the fun!

I know I am missing people as I've playing this character for
quite some time. Thank you all for making my first experience with
a serious character a blast! If anyone has comments or criticism
I'd love to hear it. Otherwise, I'll see ya all on the fields!

Thanks for showing me how to prep as Rederic

Of course. I was happy to pass along the information! I hope our
paths cross again.

Yeah I did notice you'd sit on the watcher for a long time and would avoid fights but I knew early on that you were new and so I had no issues with it. What was good to see was you evolve into a character that DID take risks. You'll learn more and become a much better player by doing so. So well done on the progression.

Definitely a big fat chicken in the beginning. I had some of the
most fun in the later years when I cared less about dying/losing gear.
Thank you for the feedback!

Well done!

Despite my loud mouth attitude I liked you alot and I really liked that despite me mouthing off to bait you you would still come to try shut me up. Your evolution from start to finish was awesome! Well done.

And remember age dying with 4 con or con dying means you have had a hell of alot of fun on the way.

Tons of fun! After watching you relentlessly come at the fort against terrible odds and eat some bad deaths, I was inspired to get out there and do the same. After all, I needed to do something else other than drink tea and eat scones. :P

134921, Very well done!
Posted by Korsgaard on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I was happy to see you grow under the advice of the other Maran and then to make Maran yourself after a long time kicking butt. You did well with Drogun and I hope you had fun!

I had an absolute blast! For future reference, is it best to just
write you an IC note and sit back and wait for your interaction or
should I be making a series of attempts at praying? I always felt
bad praying as I did not want to annoy you haha. So I found myself
not attempting to call for an interaction. Not sure if this is a
proper question for the forums, but figured I'd give it a stab.

Thank you for the feedback and for making CF a great place to have
fun!
134956, Notes and Prays
Posted by Korsgaard on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
A note to Korsgaard works great, and a pray with my name is double great. Both will get my attention to start looking at you and see how you're interacting with other folks in and out of the shrine.

Some folks think prays will annoy and that's not the case. If you see me visible, that's usually a good sign that I'm open and around - ready to respond to prays then and there. I usually dont come unless called so in a way your prays control your interactions.

Perfect. Thank you for the explanation!

Props man, you has guts! You were a balls to the wall one from my point of view!

Well done, and GLWYN.

I had a ton of fun with you! Thank you for the good fights!
134925, My man!

Loved Drogun from the get go. I think we created around the same time? Definitely had some good times, from skill training in Organia all the way to the very end. Loved your attitude, and that you were consistently doing things, and that you were eager/willing to pass on things that you learned to others.

On that note, thanks for showing me the exploration stuff that you did, I have tons left to learn myself and you uncovered some things I have had on my list for a while!

That time we ganked Dien and repo'd your entire set after Panmorne's tournament was a highlight.
134948, RE: My man!
Posted by Jonny on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
And how apropos that we end around the same time. I could write
pages and pages on how you helped me develop my character - but I
will spare you haha. You had the patience of a saint. No matter
how many times I forgot that fly, pass door, reduce or enlarge pot,
despite you stressing their importance, you didn't lose your sh##
on me haha.

Thank you for being an elite Captain and always getting me out of
terrible situations. From those "Dien" type of times, to breaking
me out of that awful man-hating-club of a prison in Glymarach.

I know you're taking a break for now, but I hope to see ya in the
fields again soon!

Best of luck!
134957, good job
Posted by Gillador on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I got to see you grow as a previous char and got to fight you a decent amount as Gill and you carried yourself well.

You might not believe this but you were much much more dangerous to fight than Drissa. He may have been tougher but he couldn’t really stop my retreat whereas you bashed the ever loving snot out of me even when I took counter measures. I was hoping to get more one on ones with you but alas it wasn’t to be.

And sorry for chirping (hehe) you so much at the fort but it’s basically impossible for me to fight at the watcher given how much it dispells and the fact it progs EVERY SINGLE ROUND! A group can spread that out but solo it’s nuts. I just wish scarab would update the lich inner to be less of a pansy.
134967, RE: good job
Posted by Jonny on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I was hoping for the same! No worries about the chirping - I enjoyed
the banter haha.

One day, if you remember, you'll have to tell me if the bonecrushing
worked on slowing that dodge down. You were so darn hard to hit.

Thank you for the feedback and hope to run into you again soon!

Most of the time my gear is enough to cover a boneshatter alone.
134909, Dammit, If I had known!
Posted by Merelith on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I would've hung around and fought with you more! All I would've been doing was putting off dinner, my wife can wait!

I liked you, even if I only got to fight with you these last two days.
134949, RE: Dammit, If I had known!
Posted by Jonny on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Haha don't feel bad. I was down to nearly my last point of Con when
you left. I wanted to perma die on my own terms. So I grabbed a few
bottles of booze, sat with the watcher, and drank myself into
oblivion. So you didn't miss much other than a drunk giant becoming
even more incomprehensible.

Hope to cross paths with you again!
