Merry Holidays and Happy New Year everyone.

Big thanks to whoever picked it up.

Re: Umiron about me talking of conjies like an expert:

Kanlax was an expert in everything. Just because you're a warrior doesn't mean you can't have studied outside your guild. He studied magic theory in the Tower (anyone can join HToS after all), and anyone can read Khardrath's books on planar theory -- which he did way before he was level 49.

It's not as if I was acting like an expert at level 1.
132377, I didn't really interact with you

... but wow the dedication in finding a song specifically for each character that warranted a goodbye. Impressive!

Good luck with your next one!
132349, Good luck with your next character good friend.

Many many years ago when i was like our infamous comrade now and felt the need to prove something i didn't understand what was you doing in our beloved game at all.

Many years have passed and i no longer feel need to prove anything, so i can just chill and enjoy the game and play the life of my character. Now i understand you perfectly because that's what you do as well.

Overall great character, don't think you'll make good evil as you are very good person yourself. So keep the goodies coming! :)

This includes Entropy because reasons.

Delia -- Your aggressive playstyle didn't mesh well with mine (mostly because I refuse to do anything that gets me wanted), but I kept quietly cheering for you. The world's better with people who like to bring it on.
Theme song: The Honor in Her Efforts (Phil Lober)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nqT8jLrh9DQ

Kamal -- Obviously, becoming a wight is ever so bad for your sanity, and you were clearly very, very insane to begin with. Good impression.
Theme song: Livin' in Twilight (Epidemia)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-lAnsVvn1AQ

Kycue -- Yo! Good dynamic, I love seeing uncaballed characters with teeth, and with style. But as Sam points out, you made me sad by auto-ing a 85-year old human.
Theme song: Cove (Heroes 3: Horn of the Abyss)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1D5tVL5wj_I

Acra -- We had some fun times fighting dragons and whatnot.
Theme song: Passion for Exploring (VVVVVV OST)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0j6pe043L4

Cinuc -- Earliest helping hand I got, which was rather instrumental in getting to hero so quickly. I never really got to repay you, so just like you said you were doing, I went to repay it by helping more people.
Theme song: The Road Most Travelled (Elder Scrolls)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ATSRqT2tH8E

Zermon -- Also thanks for helping with cutoff and gear and all, and I was glad to be able to show you something you didn't know before. It's good to be a goodie. Heh. And I was probably the one goodie who wasn't gonna judge you about Fortress.
Theme song: Attention (Shadow Warrior OST)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NkJcZkHlSGI

Rafhlop -- Your playstyle, speech, etc. reminded me of early me (back in 2011 when I played a lot of felar). I felt compelled to show you around Thera, even though I'm not sure you were really that new.
Rafhlop tells you 'Ayes, is very gangerouses.'
Rafhlop tells you 'Dangerouses, rather'
You tell someone 'No, you said right. Gangerous.'
--About Keilheil
Theme song: Race around the world (Waterflame on Newgrounds)
http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/110798

Alishia -- Hoo boy all the moon-logic. You were difficult to talk to. Your offers of help always seemed fishy. Either you killed a good mob to get me gear, or you were trying to get me to owe you favors, which just made me wary of you. And for f' sake, I KNOW where the red dragon is! I AM strong enough to kill it! I just can't crawl to get to it! You refused to understand until you tried to walk me down there.
Theme song: Disconnected (Pegboard Nerds)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ayeg2vlnbUo

Aarusemilar -- I know how you really got those pendants :P I also suspected it was you who stole things from me here and there, but apparently I was wrong.
Theme song: Percy's Escape (Bastion OST)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1QaGGSiA3yI

Istraen -- Like I said, invokers were my bane and I probably shouldn't have bothered fighting you at all. Maybe I grew a little more suicidal towards the end. You were great at seizing opportunities and I admired that.
Theme song: Corruption (Terraria OST)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HkZ-Z0u5eGc
(You screwing over the terrain. Ugh. If you could've been a scion...)

Ikthye -- I got a vague impression you wanted to become evil and join Scarab. However you were super evasive about the reasons why you hunted certain goodies and why you were buddies with Undaraxyl; people complained about you, but I hadn't yet decided how to behave towards you, and you never attacked me. And then you just deleted.
Theme song: Disease (Pathologic OST)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wYqviIWwyZI

Aithiar -- You were fun, even though I probably thought a bit less of you for not engaging in PK. I think there wasn't a (non-felar) female PC who hasn't heard "Back off, Aithiar only take fela".
Theme song: The Rum Tum Tugger (CATS, the musical)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ywFbpDjpZno

Takaeshi -- You wrote that ode to Kanlax and people were thinking I had died or deleted. Haha. Thanks for all the travels.
Theme song: Cuggan's Cove (Simon Swerwer)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G4_aCMZsMfA

Grokko -- Of course we all knew what to expect from you, even if you were styled as messed up crazy neutral instead of evil.
Theme song: It's My Life
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9B1M3IPVcXs
(That obviously isn't the "It's My Life" everyone thought of.)

Tyiquazza -- Either you did your homework on my background, or you just guessed really really well (it's not hard actually, most adventurers are orphans). Regardless, the interactions were cool, though the horse jokes were nothing new. Like I said, def would stick a polearm up your ass 10/10.
Theme song: Nope (OMFG)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7JSWsMtQPVw

Eryari -- Hey. Such a heartwarming character you have there, loved that you didn't shy from a challenge, whether PK or otherwise.
Theme song: Roundtable Rival (Lindsey Stirling)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jvipPYFebWc

Squeegle -- Wannabe racial champion? Were you trying to bully me? I wasn't even hostile. Made me think of "Elephant and Pug".
Theme song: Boatmurdered (Noise)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f2orv_bjp6o

Odoe -- You demonstrated why I don't like ST. Love you too.
Theme song: Dropkick Murphys -- "Rose Tattoo"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9d8SzG4FPyM

Sekik -- Most entertaining character of the year. Swearing your "oath" to Tahren by "Buttlover's axe". I lol'd.
Theme song: Crazy Frog (Axel F)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k85mRPqvMbE
132351, (Kycue) Wow that seems like a long time ago!
Posted by Saagkri on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
First, thanks for all the detailed goodbyes. It's always nice when someone takes the time to give back in that way. Long lived well played characters like Kanlax make everyone want to kick their game up a notch or two. Kycue was a fun one to play and he didn't auto on purpose.

I couldn't tell if you appreciated any of the horse jokes or were just being polite, but you were a good sport either way.

Kycue's favorite tune would be from HOMM 3: The Rampart Theme, so you were very close.

Here's my theme for Kanlax: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EXbKfXpQIIQ
132365, Horse jokes
Posted by Murphy on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I didn't mind them, so long as they weren't too repetitive.

But it wasn't character-appropriate to burst out laughing. And a ROFL-ing centaur would be kind of dangerous to those around him, eh?
132352, Haha that made me laugh so hard

132355, I almost always like your chars.

But Kanlax was a MUCH better one. I didn't really expect it to be you.
Well done!

p.s. Sekik really wanted to swear the oath right, but ICly no one helped enough. And at a point I lost the time to play him and he autoed! :(

One of my best friends of which I only really had two. It's sad to see you go, but I knew it was going to happen. Kanlax was always a welcome sight, traveling companion and friend. I will miss running all over the place and more importantly, your company. You were an inspiration. Tough roads ahead for Eryari as she's lost both of her besties but hopefully I'll write something inspired either poetry or tale wise that can go in the lyceum or be an eyesore for those who dislike such out there.

You helped me more than I can easily explain and are sorely missed.

I don't know how it ended up like this, but all Orcs I fought were super classy. I'd even say chivalrous.

Worthag -- "Life itself is short, but lasts longer than misfortunes." Remember? So long, old buddy.
Theme song: The Vargr Moon (Slough Feg, Traveller Album)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kW3rwygUnnU

Grondarg -- Long rivalry. Thanks for bringing it on, continuously, and for taking effort not to be a jerk.
Theme song: Warcraft 2 Theme!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZAXwQ_Kyco

Garfuka -- I liked this character, though fighting was kinda annoying because I couldn't get a norem polearm (or at least a nodrop one). During the first story contest your contribution (I dubbed it Orcish Blues) was super hilarious.
Theme song: Last of the Mohicans (Vangelis)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BydBT6pEqz4

Zugnu -- Mostly I knew you through the story contests. You were funny.
Theme song: Shake it and Break it (Devil in a Woodpile)

(A very dirty song, something one might imagine an orc singing.)
132346, TRIBUNAL
Posted by Murphy on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Kanlax says "Unlike Tribunal, I don't break the law."

Tribunal is my favorite cabal. When I'm in it, that is. I hate being wanted, so I almost never willingly started a fight with a Trib. I felt one of them would probably find an excuse to flag me if I did. As for IC justification for my attitude, chaotic does not necessarily mean anarchist; in my case it was more like "very individualistic, but acknowledging the values and benefits of civilization / society". However, I did not like hard dogma and Tribunal's inflexibility was troubling me.

Asriel -- Kanlax wasn't a lawbreaker and you didn't antagonize him just for being a centaur or for being chaotic. In his eyes that was like +9000 cool points because I met SO MUCH prejudice against centaurs all over everywhere.
Theme song: Ravnica: Endless Skyline (MtG Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ARDMBsSlWjY
Too bad Destuvius turned you into a flower.

Gituku -- Didn't see anything bad; we actually never really interacted other than the occasional exchange of insults, which was appropriate in-character. I thought of you as someone who was gonna take excuses to flag me (even if you really weren't), so that made me want to be anywhere near you even less.
Theme song: Ace of Spades, Justin Johnson's rendition
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-tAEAyHgCec

Shaysanth -- You were basically an imperial in trib uniform. It looked like you wanted to fight, but only on your heavily skewed terms. Oh well. Can't blame that.
Theme song: Right Behind You (Team Fortress 2)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Va3-PF09pXw

Lochlan -- I never stepped on your toes. Like Qinsa, you were highly entertaining but, also like Qinsa, you were arbitrary with the law and I didn't want to be flagged for some stupid thing. Please don't play any more Tribunal.
Theme song: Tristram (Matt Uelmen, Diablo/Diablo 2 OST)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-Sy9zaLOG4

Kaidos -- Loved the stereotypical fat lazy slacker bard RP. You just needed some donuts to top off the image.
Theme song: Beat the Devil's Tattoo (BRMC)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mYkhNWIdra0

Sevina -- Agilus clone. I wonder if there was a way to get a better impression, but then again, nobody here plays for someone else's enjoyment, right?
Theme song: Thief/Map Theme (Remix, Golden Axe)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UnMK5ISszAw
Yes I know this wasn't Jalim.

Selena -- You seemed... bored. And then even more bored in Trib. I don't know if you noticed, but after you left Empire, I was willing to leave you alone. Right up until you and Nef attacked me in Dralkar.
Theme song: Leave Her Johnny (AC4 Black Flag OST)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0EpYEM6KfjI

Neferefre -- You seemed even more bored. And then eternally bored. Didn't give you the same courtesy as to Selena because, well, undead abomination and all that. It was sure awkward meeting you (the mob version) in Ishuli's shrine.
Here's one for you. It's not a song. But... it aligns well with the idea of a bored necromancer.
Dance Your Unlife Away (The Bard's Tale)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U7hI1STc1ps

Saxonjachs -- You were okay; our paths didn't cross much. Somehow you gave the kind of vibe I tend to get from thug thieves rather than assassins.
Theme song: Jesper Kyd -- The Brotherhood escapes (Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rENEYllHd88

Orsil -- Thanks for giving me backup those times I asked for your help. Haha, I figured Shaysanth wouldn't attack *you*.
Theme song: Gideon Jura (Magic Duels -- Origins)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3dd_H1tmEDQ

Oromziuj -- I ranked with outties too, but I preferred Tribs :) Big thanks for helping me work on cutoff.
Theme song: The Storm and the Bounty (Simon Swerwer)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n0JbW8Xfgvw

Ishuli -- You were friendly! I did not expect you to be friendly. Your helpfile says chaotics are meh, but apparently you don't hate them in a destuvian fashion. I wondered if I should have been changed to neutral good but I also incorporated a lot of chaotic aspect in my role and behavior, it just was unorthodox (e.g. I was against nonsensical dogmas, not specifically against law and definitely not against civility and scholarship).
Theme song: Pirates of the Caribbean Medley
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4psOBEB9GPw
(the video part matters because you reminded me of Tia Dalma; with obvious differences, but still)

Umiron -- Thanks for speedily fixing up my edgepoint issue. You think I forgot? No.
Theme song: Metal Crusher (Undertale)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jDatjUbYrxo

Vramun -- Like I said, I didn't hate you for wanting to kill me, but I hated you for making assumptions based on my race and alignment. FYI I was NOT buddy-buddy with Outlanders. At least not with a lot of Outlanders.
Theme song: Cells (Sin City theme)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8qlOH0jGeE

Aelekai -- You know, ESL or not, but your goodies are GOOD, and your evils are EVIL. See Koidel. Really there was so many of you I should probably exclude some from this goodbye wall of text.
Theme song: Conquest of Paradise (Vangelis -- 1492 OST)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DbPkKR0-q3c

Aynri -- We had some interesting talks re: collectivism vs individualism, agreed on some things, disagreed on others. Thanks for bearing with me asking you to fix a damnation here and there.
Theme song: From Wharf to Wilds (Bastion OST)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=di45CbaAHek

Guais -- I decided to remain continuously friendly as I rarely judged people by their red aura if they otherwise didn't seem "evil enough" to me.
Theme song: Urban Spy Theme (Evan Beigel, Pat Regan)

Well done on age death!

And for what its worth Vramun was at the core a blunt fire giant and I tried my best not be a "smarty pants" in fire giant suit
- Good V Evil
- Chaotic V Lawful
- Creature of the wilds

It was that simple ... FYI If you tried to argue "I was not buddy buddy with Outlanders ... at least not with a lot of Outlanders" IC it would not have mattered what you said the argument would have been over right at the start. :)
132362, I did what my character would do
Posted by Murphy on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
He figured a provost should listen to reason. Not to mention impartiality is required of all Magistrates, and especially their leader.

IC, I accepted that you were my enemy, but I wanted an enemy who respected me and didn't say crap like "you are just waiting to break the law". For what it's worth I probably broke fewer laws than you did.

I even made sure you weren't fighting a criminal before attacking you outside the city, even though I never agreed with that #### ruling.
132359, RE: TRIBUNAL
Posted by lochlan on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I had actually never marked on whim. Despite rantings / ravings / bitching alot of times I did not warrant, until after speaking with the provost or waiting on him, if it was sketchy.

However lochlan did have 3 warrants placed, and only 3 that should not have been, or were questionable (actually 2, because when conjurer familiar was attacked, conjurer was with it). As a tribbie player you would know the provost is the one to make interpretations, and it goes down the chain of command (or from an imm as needed).

Warrants placed from aiding a criminal outside city limits, as example, was a ruling by the provost, written in a note, and for all magistrates to warrant.

However most people dont see this, or when told, completely ignore it, and trying to clarify through ishuli or in the appropriate spot on the forums is something they refuse to do. Instead I get flames like what I got on my deletion thread as lochlan, and what you put on your post about me.

I would say I liked your char. I'm also not like I was back in the day when I was very aggressive and went after kills constantly. Older, more mellow and enjoy making people laugh is basically me now, though more than capable of dishing it out. You are much the same way. It is also due to your attitude that I chose to speak of you about krelroy and well, that stuff :P

but here on your deletion thread, dont pull that #### here you actually know better.
132360, Fair enough, I apologize
Posted by Murphy on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
It looked like you supported the idea and didn't just do it "because provost's orders". But still what I wrote was uncalled for.

Let us discuss it elsewhere.
132366, RE: TRIBUNAL
Posted by Orsil on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I really enjoyed my time with Kanlax. Orsil counted you as a friend and you were one of the few that he called friend. In the spire as the only gold aura, I had to reach out beyond its walls to find friendly interactions. Kanlax was always there to help out. I hope I wasn't one of the Tribunal that Kanlax saw as breaking the law more than he did.

Thanks for all the fun and GLWYN!
132379, HUGE fan!
Posted by Ishuli on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Iggy and I were pitching a legacy styled reward for you for a while. Originally I was aiming at renewal of spring, but after some group discussion we went an entirely different direction.

Chaotic is totally meh, but I'm with you on your self-interpretation - Kanlax wasn't 'chaotic' in the classic sense of it in the RP aspect. Your writing is legitimately amazing, and despite not being within the religion, you absolutely understood how to mix practical and theory (or as some folks call it, speculation) amazingly.

Otherwise I had a weird sort of thing with Kanlax when it came to watching. I knew you were always badass and on the ball, so I felt like I didn't HAVE to watch you? Sounds weird, but your level of consistent awesomeness in contests to regular interactions was top notch.

Thanks for the tunes, me matey. Arrrr.
132380, Renewal of spring
Posted by Murphy on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
While I would've vastly preferred it over Maelstrom, IIRC, it wouldn't work to increase my character's lifespan.

Normally Renewal increases con by 3 and maximum age by 10%. (The exact numbers don't matter at the moment.) From my educated guess about the mechanic, it triggers when you take the legacy, but does not when you just flip the bit using the "set" command. That's how it works in ROM unless someone in CF specifically changed it.

Evidence:
There was a guy (Nabor) who was set with Renewal but his con didn't go up, and the Imm had to manually add 3 con to him. Would it not be the same way with maximum age? And I wouldn't be able to tell whether my maximum age actually increased.

***

Thanks, and glad you had fun. I'm sorry that we disagree about Tribunal.
132962, Definitely triggered when I took the legacy in 2007.

Not a real cabal. Also, they fall too easily into the same 1-2-3 stereotypes, their #### stinks and I want Scions back.

Jeede -- Did a good job making me watch out. I used to hate your talk but that's before I talked to Glikhardiz.
Theme song: Fear of the Dark (Iron Maiden)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qEja72NSg5Q

Venara -- Don't like your OOC smug superiority and your use of the corrosion ring. Otherwise, you were okay-ish.
Theme song: Infernals (Vangers OST)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3ZWDUK__xs

Malchazzar -- Good Yokozuna! You definitely had to prep against me. Disarmed and stole my dragon slayer. Well suppose I didn't need a weapon that can be so easily lost.
Theme song: Town in Chaos (Darkest Dungeon OST)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ma-WJUidpRU

Ikoxus -- Also some good fighting, though word of recall eventually made me not bother. Though at least I managed to beat you into recalling. Invokers in general were a bad match for me.
Theme song: Inferno / Cinder's theme (Killer Instinct S2).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRmwFBK0cyk

Sephiteth -- I got an impression that fighting gangs made you sour. You didn't complain, though. And you were pretty beefy.
Theme song: One Winged Angel (FF7 OST)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7wJ8pE2qKU
...what other song could there be for you? You're a guy with that name, who turns into a big honking monster, well, and Ominous Latin Chanting is apparently a must for Scarabites.

Jinoquio -- I remember you well, though it was more from my previous character. I don't think I fought you as Kanlax. We pretty much only had this one exchange:
Jinoquio tells you 'Who are you?'
You tell Jinoquio 'Name's Kanlax. I'm a vagabond, wandering knight.'
You tell Jinoquio 'And you?'
Jinoquio tells you 'I'm Jinoquio, and I murder the impure.'
Jinoquio tells you 'And also make fun of them.'
You tell Jinoquio 'Impure?'
You tell Jinoquio 'You mean Empire?'
Jinoquio tells you 'Sure. They're impure.'
Jinoquio tells you 'So's the Fortress.'
You tell Jinoquio 'It is pronounced Empire.'
Jinoquio tells you 'Good joke! Yeah, they're basically the same.'
...
You tell Jinoquio 'Well, you'll probably want to murder me too, I have no interest in purity.'
Jinoquio tells you 'Okay!'
Theme song: You're a Foolish One (The Bard's Tale)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tJS9fGL5LfA

Undaraxyl -- Class. I kinda hate fighting necros, though.
There was one occasion where there was a power outage and I lost connection in the Araile while going after you. I connected from my tablet, just in time to see Fuuksube pounding on me. I managed to teleport but not do much else from Blowtorch that could've saved me from a malice death. You then told me where my corpse was (although I already figured it out), and I said I can't walk all the way there, so you dropped that line "perhaps the kobold glue pots are your fate then".

I was incredibly tired of power outages that happened at the most inopportune moments, and I decided to delete. But then I came outside and saw a notice warning about a planned power-out that morning that I SHOULD have seen. So it made me feel like an idiot and I reactivated... I'd like to think that line about kobold pots had hurt my pride a little and it contributed to the decision to come back. Well done.

Thank you and good night.
132344, OUTLANDER
Posted by Murphy on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Kanlax was supposed to distrust Outlanders, because of his background, and a lot of time it was just Reavers, so I was hostile to many Outlanders, especially early on. Later it more or less died down, but I never picked up too many friends in the Refuge.

Ahmoud -- Yeah, I'm not much for trying it pre-hero with unmastered skills, low HP pool and prep scarcity. I just wanted to do my questwork, so I would've liked it if you left me alone. I would've gladly fought you at hero.
Theme song: Night Adventures (Daggerfall OST)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3uEeR8fXTI

Zoenad -- You were craftier than Shaysanth and more willing to be aggressive, although I didn't like the match-up and you were quite difficult to do anything to. Word of recall made me sad. But I'm sure I didn't look that cool to you either.
Theme song: Whispering Winds (Wolf OST)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BHg2jxu3oxE
(It's also called "a full run" because that's when it plays in the game. I ran from you a lot.)

Ryh -- This was a long friendship. It looked like you were wary, not of me attacking you, but of cooperating with me unless you absolutely had to. Or maybe you were just busy with your cabal.
Theme song: Fungus Delvings (Lode Runner: the Legend Returns)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UxkYSwHZy6E

Rokhwar -- You were alright. Very aggressive. I prefer low-hanging fruit (haha, guilty), but I didn't mind fighting you too. Word of recall made me sad.
Theme song: Destructive Minds / Evasive Action (Dune 2 OST)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nsWLWz8sx4I

Gwildaththea -- You have no idea how many people were trying ever so badly to recruit me into their cabals. Fortress, Battle, Herald, Empire (lol), eventually even Tribunal and Scarab... and you. Sorry, but Kanlax didn't have an overly high opinion of (most) wardens, and you always seemed kinda deadbeat even for a warden. Not hating (at least, not anymore) but that's just how it went.
Theme song: State of Massachusetts (Dropkick Murphys)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HzF0hHb7xMc

Amaya -- Shade of your former self. We had some fun fighting together, but nowhere near wrecking. Also, you called me a "veteran". Haha. If I'm considered a vet, I weep for Carrion Fields.
Theme song: Loki Awakening (Praetorians OST)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-tkrKOGXJTI#t=14m55s

Kaer -- Fiery.
Theme song: Change of Luck (Ministry; MtG: Duels of the Planeswalkers)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1y6Mpx1S6k

Kirwin -- I read your logs and I was so much anticipating meeting you, and then you just never did it. Come on, you had such power! It would've been very tough to fight you.
Theme song: Anticipating (Frank Klepacki)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IfY9GJLP34g

Panitorop -- You had a good sense of the fight, and we had many many many scraps and no deaths. Which I'm totally fine with.
Theme song: Stronghold (Heroes 3 OST)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1iNjldnNSPY

Hrrnt -- Hello, Miss Viking ####. I remember I helped you rank and you deleted, which was disappointing, though I understand not wanting to play that build with the axe murderer bug fixed.
Theme song: Snow over Northmoor (Daggerfall)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfCOzhFCtl8

Murmyak -- You asocial freak. I wanted to kill you for stealing that retrieval, and for refusing to follow or group me while fighting the vanquisher. If you did, I would've had my 10 retrievals for edge points that much sooner. But attacking you would've been another questionable thing I'd do with my alignment. Which is too bad, I would've loved to dance. Next time I'll roll evil.
Theme song: Cheetahmen Theme Song
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IUeYdjZJJBM
(There were great things about you, and also bad, that's why I thought of this song, itself good but from a terribad game. Well, that and cat-people.)

Tsigu -- I lol'd when we accidentally discovered that AI spot for you. You were more confused than I was, and IC, as an outlander you were supposed to be the know-it guy. I'll just discount it for my character's impossibly wise wisdom!
Theme Song: Night Walk (Wolf OST)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QTZc0fivOAA

Qarodeth -- All good points, but Kanlax just did not feel sympathy towards the Outlander cause. Appreciated the discussion though.
Theme song: Keep On Galloping (Korpiklaani)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZbucSufNm4

Gyrld -- Well, we didn't stay non-confrontational forever. Hunters are actually quite good vs. polearm; I still had a few tricks against you, but we didn't have that many 1-on-1 fights to try them all out.
Theme song: Build that wall (Bastion OST)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8cELTdtw6U

Thorawyn -- Regretfully I haven't had the opportunity to speak to you at all -- we had a lot of interaction but it was mostly just business (e.g. fighting a common enemy).
Theme song: The Dawn (Dreamtale)

I first thought of Garruk when you got your special title as Gromm.

You clearly went for a similar angle with Kaer, so the song pick was natural.
132371, Sorry to disappoint with Kirwin...
Posted by SPN on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
The height of Kirwin was the few weeks just before the birth of my son (First child), so that pretty much shot everything in the foot. In particular, my wife had a very hard home birth, so I had to wait hand and foot on them both for the first two weeks. It really took the wind out of the sails of a really fun combo.

Also, I was really pissed when I learned Centaurs get acute vision....

Inkfil -- Howdy, crazy midget. Still peeling your potatoes? It was awesome to have an adoring fan like you :)
Theme song: Mashed Potatoes (OMFG)

Graun -- You sly neutral dwarf, you.
Theme song: Viinamäen Mies (Korpiklaani)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-eD_1CvhhIU (Original, Finnish)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bc0sJvtKrRM (English version -- A Man with a Plan)

Vronwei -- Thanks for keeping me company. Since you styled yourself a storyteller, that was also what we had in common.
Theme song: A Proper Story (Bastion OST)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xzGEiER7mkc

Aiya -- The way to a centaur's two hearts lies through his two stomachs. Now, I wasn't sure it was moral to eat sentients. Dragons are sentient! But let's just assume they were so tasty that no flimsy moral excuse stood a chance. No, you don't get to cook me after I'm dead.
Theme song: Pressure Cooker (VVVVVV OST)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L0gOUmQ39uk

Ghrimmli -- My character also had an inner conflict about his species, so I had limited sympathy, but I'm not buying your convictions.

Kanlax says, 'I'd feel conflicted about eating sentient beings.'

Aiya says, 'Dragons aren't conflicted about eating you.'

Goodies never take that argument. They all want to be better than what they fight :P
132372, Always enjoyed your visits to the Inn.

Irikdriby liked Kanlax, as he was a wise being who always had a tale, joke, or riddle to parlay. I got the sense that I never really nailed your drink preference like I did with others, but you weren't all that inclined to snub free ale either. Great showings at all of the tale telling contests. I kind of wish I had held on to Sigard for awhile longer now that Dragonslayer will be back in the mix, great job in being such a long lived and successful character. Also many thanks for your talks with Kiriam, I really had no insight into the religion outside the help file before you came along. Even just showing my the library was a help, but I also enjoyed your story.
132342, FORTRESS
Posted by Murphy on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I did some things routinely that were inappropriate for a maran-style goodie but were not truly evil acts (e.g. trading with imperial guild merchant, paying centurions when it suit me, cooperating with certain evils when fighting a common enemy, etc). The idea was that Fortress restrictions do not apply to every goodie, and I wanted to highlight it, and for that to succeed I needed to do these things, and disagree with Fort about them but still remain fundamentally a Good person. If I got turned neutral it would've meant that I failed at the role. Note that there were things anathema to me, that would've been okay for a maran (breaking the law, most notably). I also didn't like attacking a red-aura just "because evil", it kinda felt lame for this particular role.

Wriennen -- Poor girl. Kanlax felt that they (the acolytes) took you from him, and then took everything you could give until there was nothing left. It made him a bit sour against Fortress for a while.
Theme song: Illusion (VNV Nation)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evpGu3eO0pY

Natesthal -- Like I said, you looked like a model Maran with no obvious conflicts or troubles, but eventually I found your character did have depth.
Theme song: Everybody off (Shadow Warrior OST)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=74KgbhitOa0
(...reading your logs had made me think of this track, moreso than interacting with you. Haha! You no mess with Natesthal!)

Koidel -- Go, go, go. Always on the move. I now know how people felt being led around by me.
Theme song: Glorx (Vangers: One for the Road)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hqGMDm1K524

Barafel -- We had one of the most solid discussions about the merit of cabals. It was very useful because it helped me get a clearer picture of my own character's philosophy and outlook.
Theme song: Faithful Warriors (PC Dune 2 OST -- Orchestral Cover)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xe4bUkk-loI

Brondalorm -- Classic example of Same's masochistic tendencies leading to character frustration. At least you got people to roll to help you.
Theme song: Chosen One #1 (The Bard's Tale)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BNqxUFmI1K4

Thaedan -- We did cross paths from time to time, but you seemed so reclusive. We should've worked together more, we'd be a great team.
Theme song: Playing With Danger (Team Fortress 2)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=llOvd2yGEio

Sephira -- My cheerful friend, I was only regretting you didn't last longer so I could have my excuse to kill more villagers.
Theme song: Get Along! (Slayers opening theme)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8UR9OHFswDQ

Leire -- Right from when you were level 11 you spoke to me, saying basically that I am a member of endangered species and should be protected at all times. I found it a little unsettling, almost as if I were going to be put into a preserve or somesuch.
Theme song: Uwa!! So Temperate ♫ (Undertale OST)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rHU4rpQUshg

Silvyr -- Man I was so bad at keeping groupmates alive. I wasn't supposed to care about cabal items, only about keeping a friend safe / killing an enemy. Though I didn't mind the edgepoints I got for those retrieval assists.
Theme song: Waiting for Romero to play (Doom 2 OST)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TnzRBZd5_uA
(Get it? I was waiting for you to come retrieve so I could help you and get those OP EP.)

Krelroy -- I know quite a few people hated you, but it sure feels like you put soul and effort into your character.
Theme song: Alone (Marshmello)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ALZHF5UqnU4

Ruqyrym -- I saw a kindred soul in your business-like attitude, and beyond that you had a lot of dedication. Good times fighting together and running around the world, and I admit there was a little bit of prideful enjoyment in being able to run any non-ranger groupmate out of moves. 1700mv + seasoned traveler. Haha.
Theme song: Potential for Anything (VVVVVV OST)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uj8MsbgpjaQ

Ignolmeer -- When you vaguely suggested that I was wasting my given time on trivialities and it could be so much more, I was initially going to send you away. Kanlax never felt that his existing lifestyle was in any way unfulfilling, plus he was wary of attachment to strict causes. However, the exact way you styled your invitation made me think that I would otherwise have to deal with Jormyr and obviously Kanlax didn't want that. In the end, I'm glad it worked out for us. Never been part of a religion before.
Theme song: Read Me (Doom 2 OST, story screen music)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ye1fLA1fOls

Daralius -- that "remorse for endangering me" was sarcasm, was it? I realize I made a super crappy impression that day. I was just having a bit of headache IRL and I think everything else (two deaths and three eq pieces lost) was just consequences. I should have logged off an hour earlier.
Theme song: Danger Zone (Kenny Loggins -- from the Top Gun movie)

I interacted with you on many occasions with a multitude of characters, and it was a great experience for someone who was jumping back into CF after many years gone.

Though I'm unfortunately now no longer playing due to RL, I just want to thank you for all the fun and the help.

- Barafel and Zugnu (just the ones you mentioned) :P
132369, I realized I missed Hunsodin

Hunsodin -- People looked at you funny for jumping religions, but I knew better. And, looking back, it seems as if being solemn and contemplative was always natural for you. I apologize that my reflexes weren't always as quick as needed for successful teamwork.

Is what it is.

Muuksube -- I guess the karma of killing AFK ragers as Kowelu has finally bit me back. Mechanically, I didn't enjoy fighting you (malice shaman with healing curse AND unerring smite, not to mention sigil), but I can't say anything bad either. Word of recall made me sad.
Theme song: Message for the Arch-Vile (Doom II, remixed)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S4HEJdTH50s

Nazarates -- Well, I couldn't really match up to you if we were both at peak performance. Closest I came to success was intercepting you without trance as you chased Brondalorm. Regardless, you were a classy foe and I respected you.
Theme song: Precipice (VNV Nation)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vYhdhOeJQ_o

Glikhardiz -- You sure spent a lot of time lecturing me on how I am not worth your time. I was going to elaborate, but really, you're not worth my time.
Theme song: You're so vain (Carly Simon)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mQZmCJUSC6g

Kromps -- Shout-out because you seemed to struggle a lot; having a pocket healer evened the odds somewhat. Funny how there's always a pocket healer in Empire, but never when I play it.
Theme song: Push it to the limit (Scarface OST)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9D-QD_HIfjA

Uigioiui -- Oogieboy, you've gotta learn some composure. How you deal with being outnumbered or outprepped is none of my concern, and I had to deal with it just as often.
Theme song: Danger Room (Simon Swerver)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=02nLHpSLTxo

Kotu, Undemelm, Shalic -- The despicable trio. What made your presence still bearable is that you were mainly PvE focused, so you would be away doing your thing and I would be doing mine and nobody would be having a bad time. Mostly. (Only mostly because I am a believer that hell gear is bad for the game and should stay in Hell.)
Theme song: Want you gone (Portal 2)

Buon -- The AFKat. For a while I suspected this was Same.
Theme song: Spanish Flea (Herb Alpert)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mML2fPec7xU
(Because you were so often "on standby with technical difficulties". I can relate to that.)

Hokrur -- It was good having some mutual respect. Though I don't know why you found it so difficult to fight me. You have dispel, remember?
Theme song: The Demons From Adrian's Pen

132340, BATTLE
Posted by Murphy on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
"But Murph, don't you hate Battle?" Yeah I guess I do, but Empire was so #### for the first half of my time that I couldn't really find it in me to focus on ragers. I punked some early on, but afterwards I pretty much abandoned hunting any of them unless there was a specific situation that called for it. In part it was influenced by the fact they were very tolerant towards me, even though I probably used more magic than any other warrior. For my part, I tried to be respectful to their beliefs but I goddamnsure didn't subscribe to them.

Also, Kanlax did not understand the villagers' obsession with courage and hardship and whatever else. If he could win effortlessly, he wouldn't start inventing ways to handicap himself, he would just go for it.

Kirrakar -- We fought once. Then when Empire and Scarab rose to full force, I started pointedly ignoring evil ragers and even "helped" them beat on Empire and Scarab occasionally. It was a rather emergent decision, but talking to you was one of the catalysts.
Theme song: Slough Feg - Heavy Metal Monk
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1edqSLCYP8Y

Pips -- Yeah like I said... fighting half-naked and with no prots is not fun, even if it's just fighting mobs. But I figured why not try.
Theme song: Triage at Dawn (Half-Life 2)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-GU4jvSvz4

Grembolin -- I know this character was all adrenaline fun for you. Cheers. We had some good times scaring the #### out of our enemies, even though we never really got to gank anyone. Blah, ragers...
Theme song: Hero's Theme (Kameo: Elements of Power)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KE9BE3H01-g

Zinszar -- I don't know why you thought I was in Fort. I walked past you so many times without attacking, and that despite berserkers being total meat to my build. As for that ugly 2-vs-1 gankdown with Koidel, well, I just happened to pass by and he asked for help, was I gonna say no to a goodie asking for backup?
Theme song: Seven Swords' Victory (Seven Swords OST)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=igzMnLsYooM

Oxias -- You totally did seem like Grem's younger brother to me. My initial intent was to not be too friendly because once Empire died down, I was going to start messing with ragers again. It did not work out in practice. Oh, and Reginald Galadius is good-aligned. Tsk tsk.
Theme song: Viking Gods (Paradox, Crusader Kings II OST)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=izXVqwWmR78

Gragon - Ye dumb duergar. I lol'd at your antics at the Inn. Not that you were weird or wacky. You just were a duergar.
Theme song: Big Bar Fight (Firefly OST)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=odLF9TuMs50

Ervyn - Okay... just a lot of people did the disarm stuff to me so I was like "oh sure, yet another turd who's gonna do it". And then, well, it made me feel bad because you died. It's not easy to make murphy feel bad about killing a rager. Congrats.

Yeah, it just seemed to be a bit more natural, for me at least, to be loose allies with Kanlax.

Kanlax was a cool character. This has to be one of the most prolific uncabaled characters in a long time. And definitely at the top of the centaur list. I'm always impressed how you can manage to age die all your characters.

Thanks for that song! Loved it. You might have actually shown me some new mudding music ;> That was good stuff.

On a fait partout crier

D’un haubregon de fer.
L’homme armé doibt on doubter.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XPuCiFZjfO4

People typically think uncaballed = low-key, but somehow I ended up famous *because* of being uncaballed. It added some more variety into the character's life. Cabals, in his eyes, were stagnant and never achieving anything -- I built my outlook around flexibility and acceptance that the world was never meant to be dominated by any one side.

Another central idea of the character was his constant "nature vs nurture" conflict. His upbringing made him a civilized person, but one does not simply discard being a centaur. He also saw many faults in society, and eventually I chose to rebel against cabal dogma instead of rebelling against civilization.

I didn't start with this idea, though. I initially envisioned a 100% comfort zone character, a callback to Kowelu who just cAN reLAX, doesn't do anything he isn't comfortable with, and has no serious obligations. So it's really cool that it evolved into something more and got recognized as such.

Hopefully the character was interesting to interact with, and if not, well, we all make our own fun.

Goodbyes will follow. May even stomach logging on to Dios again so I can post some logs.
