Short version: this character was designated a storage character,
which comes with reduction in gear-searching abilities. In
practice, this does very little beside remove the very top-end
from convenient searching. Logically, if you weren't using it
"that much", it wouldn't have been particularly impactful.

For reference, this character was nearly two years old. In the
ENTIRE span of a year (roughly 2016), this character logged a
total of six hours at one point. They also had the most
login/logouts of any character I am currently aware of, which is
also a common practice of gear lockers. Login, locate, get
something cool if it's in, otherwise logout. Before his being hit
by the hoard code, he was sitting around with nearly every unique
piece of conjurer gear.

I do apologize that you never received response regarding your
inquiry. I remember the note, but at the time was uncertain
whether it was within my place to detail what happened, given I
was not involved in that decision. It's typically somewhat rare
to be applied, and seems to consistently end up being the same few
players that end up logging in just long enough to look at their
shinies. However, communication is something we could
occasionally be better at.

Per HELP HOARDING

If you log on only very sparingly, you may forfeit some of Carrion Fields'
most limited and coveted gear. This is done to make sure that these objects
appear in the game with some regularity, thus allowing all players to have
a fair chance at acquiring them. The rarity of the item will matter - a
unique artifact will be lost more easily than a more common limited object.

All of the rules regarding login frequency are kept very 'loose' - we
understand that players vary considerably in their ability and desire to
play often, and we have set them this way to be inclusive of both casual
and serious players. If you do lose an item to this mechanism, no
reimbursements can or will be given, as it means you have not been
playing your character enough to justify keeping those items out of
circulation.

You were holding onto limited, rare, and multiple unique items
while playing only an hour or two a week. No-one made special
effort to remove your gear, you merely weren't playing. Beyond
the designation as storage character (which this clearly was),
nothing detrimental was done to this character, and it's design is
exactly for situations where a character is clearly doing so, but
also seeking to avoid both the hoard code and actually playing.
I'm sorry you feel this makes the game unplayable, but players are
welcome to play as much or little as they like. The hoarding code
and storage character designation merely serve to encourage highly
limited gear to remain in circulation and use. If you're only
playing an hour or two a week, it's not going to break your
experience not to have every unique piece of top-end gear for your
class.

cool but the player doesn't care, he's moved on from CF.

Why is this mud so obsessed with keeping detrimental players?

http://www.qhcf.net/phorum/search.php?5,author=2115,match_type=USER_ID,match_dates=0,match_threads=0

A quick glance at his post history shows just how detrimental. For one, he has quite "forever" before it seems. Also seems to do things specifically just to "spite immortals." Finally, not the first time apparently he has been in hot water for gear hoarding.

It's curious to me how obsessed players of this game get. Either play the game if you like it, or don't play it. It's just a game.

There were some accusations, and some misconceptions. Also, the lack
of communication regarding his note to us was our fault.

Primarily, I wanted to be clear what he encountered, that no-one took
special pains to force his gear to go away, and apologize where it
was due. This is more for clarity, particularly in the case of a
third party.
131827, I think the majority of people..

Know this was entirely warranted based on the players history of doing this.

The guy has a lot of old school buddies who are basically in the same perma with him they've had for many many years, so of course those people will openly complain on his behalf like they always do.

I wouldn't lose any sleep over the situation or what people are complaining about in this instance. This scenario plays out every time this guy comes back to CF after having quit forever.
131828, Totally.

Appreciate the run down from you. "Who cares" was meant for the other guy as in "Who cares if he has moved on? It's good stuff to know."

In future you will need to be more clear on how you want us to play our characters and spend our time lest some other unfortunate soul gets nerfed without warning. Perhaps add a room in the Academy outlining exactly what Umiron wants.
131820, We could, but people would ignore it anyways

As an example, we have we have a help file in place that outlines the rules and people still violate them.

If you can't see the issue with punishing people for them playing within the rules then I am lost for words.

You keep informing imms of various cabals that you will be creating ultra rare combinations within their cabal and then act all surprised when you are showered with gifts. We'll all act like you were deserving with your elite RP.
131822, Your obsession with me is weird
Posted by Destuvius on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
My comment had to do with the silliness of your request. Even if we did make that room like you wanted us to, people would ignore it. Just like they ignore the rules helpfile that already exists.
