The only thing that would have made this character more enjoyable would have been if I was able to get empowered. Shame I had to end it early but I didn't want to hit 100 hours and still have no empowerment. But apart from that good luck and have fun all!

In that I deleted around the same level with around the same hours on a lyristeon healer, it is possible you didn't do anything wrong. I subsequently played another lyristeon empoweree and got early empowerment. There can be an element of luck involved.
126153, I can't count how many times I was in the same situation. Dude, just relax and don't give a ####.

Roll something more fun. The bard to the Empire or ap.

How luck can be related at all? It's not gambling. You mean an IMM may not like the role and deny empowerment? But at least he could tell this so you don't waste that many hours.

I had the same experience with Enlilth and tbh I would really like to know why such situations are possible at all. I prayed many times, sent notes, emailed him, sent a message in AIM - no reply.

I see I am not the only one but what are the reasons? Can someone explain please?

Maybe the imm was on holiday. Maybe he didn't realise you were praying to him. Maybe he just hadn't had a chance to snoop you yet, etc.

Whereas with another char he might have loads of free time and get to you early on.

I'm talking real life, not the in game luck stat!

Your biggest error: you made a custom empowerment character centered around Hell with no role of substance to speak of until I told you that you had to outline a "real" religion in your role. After you were told that, you created a concept that had no direct link to your characters sphere or really even to the Devil that you were attempting to "follow"

Your second biggest error: you spent most of your time praying in a hole that exempted you from interaction with the mud. Its hard in the first place to get a custom empowerment done. Its even harder when almost no one gets to see any RP from you because you are sitting in an obscure place offering the book of Zurcon to an Arch-Devil.

This one is my own personal opinion, perhaps not shared with all of the staff: I will never do a custom empowerment centered around an Arch-Devil or anything from Inferno. There are too many red flags in it for me to make it something that I want to get involved in.
126155, Thanks for the feedback

I did read through all the helpfiles but I don't remember seeing much about avoiding picking devils in Hell as something to worship. Guess I got off to a bad start from the get-go!

I'll pick a better thing to worship and a better place to worship from next time :)
126157, Following devils...

Zhabala didnt follow a specific devil (at first), but my role was centered around my sphere. It was the imm (who I still dont know) that came to me in the form of Belial.. :)

So a few things here as I've done two of these.

The first was me sort of throwing the player a curveball since I didn't really understand how their general religion concept fit into the CF pantheon and I wanted to mix it up and give said player a dilemma. As such this devil wasn't all that malicious. (It isn't right to thrust an RP angle on someone that they didn't request and then shaft their character with evil evil RP.) I guess this could be defined as "Eshval evil", spooky evil, but not overly abusive.

The second was player requested and was not a specific inferno incarnation.

Note, Devil. If you go for devil empowerment there is a great chance you will get #rekt if you fail to appease them. Depending on the nature of the devil, this can be character-gimping. I personally refine the right as an Imm running the custom empowerment (if I bite) to ensure your RP experience is actually befitting of the empowerer. The same is true of demons, but due to their chaotic nature, it might be worse.

If you cut deals with powerful, evil beings in your role and it backfires, it is part of the role path you opted for. Devils, dragons, demons, etc. are under no obligations to their mortal empoweree and are liable to see them as prey.

Edit: This is not a path for "easy" empowerment by any stretch of the imagination.
126164, Forget devils.

It's not about devils or Hell.

It's about giving us certain things. One of those things is enough of a roadmap to play along by without leaving all the thinking up to us. A lot of people cram lots of character background into a role, for example, but don't tell us what Zuul is all about or why it would oblige this random mortal. Another one of those things, and often overlooked, is building a fair framework on which we can establish to hold the character accountable, set goals, judge RP, etc.

If a priest seeking custom empowerment approaches us with nothing more than a spiel about being a really bad guy and doing whatever they want, then that sort of cheats the crux of what empowerment is about. Real religions come with rules, trials, and accountability to some dogma (a dogma that's often not perfectly aligned with whatever the character might want to do). When a player throws all that out, nine times out of ten it means they're just being lazy and thinking, "I want all the good (i.e., juice) without any of the work.". Sometimes that's the reality even when the player thinks they've really nailed it, and unfortunately the nature of custom empowerment means that one isn't entitled to any amount of coaching when they go about it wrong.

In general, I think custom empowerment is a Bad Ideaâ„¢ and should only be endeavored upon in cases where the player understands the proposition and, more importantly, can get an acceptable measure of satisfaction out of the character even if they aren't successful in empowerment. Fortunately, it sounds like maybe that was the case for Drennor.

I had no idea what you were shooting for for a god until today. And then once I found out, it pretty much became a my god is going to hate your god sort of thing, for role reasons I cannot really get into on the forum. Sorry it didn't work out, customs can be very tough. I have had some over 50 hour customs get no answer in the past as well, so I feel for you. Good luck with the next, IC my character wasn't too pleased but of course, OOC I was rooting for you. Its a game, everyone should get to have their fun.

My deletion was a long time coming I guess.

You're a really great presence in game and I wish you all the best with what we discussed!
