118510, Well Done
Posted by Qintaris on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I enjoyed this character a lot. His use of the word wicked would usually annoy me but somehow you pulled it off with your roleplay. After hearing how you character was so organic in is choices and such I can say I really appreciate him more now. I very much enjoyed traveling with you. you were always so positive and such a go getter. Well done

118471, Respect

Thanks for the mention, not sure that I belong next to the word 'powerhouse.' I enjoyed fighting you and respected you keeping your cool through the wins and losses.
Having read through your synopsis of how your build came to be, I have to give it up to you for those decisions. I don't think many people would leave their character choices so up to the wind like that (shapeshifters excluded, though even that can be mapped ahead of time). Fire dagger spec is, well, a very niche build.
I hope you didn't think I was too much of an ass, certainly not my intent neither on the PK nor RP side. Sometimes it's hard to communicate effectively, as I end up spending most of my time in form.
GLWYN!

118461, Some goodbyes
Posted by Ishtugar on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I was blessed with a lot of cool enemies. I am sure I could have done better, but the build did feel a little gimped. I had a lot of thrills all the same and I hope some of my opponents had the same and not just some cheap laughs.
FORTRESS The majority of raiding and fights. I think most were cool, with a little banter now and then and a lot of fighting. Some stick out:
Trenloch. Great on so many levels. I hope you are still around and wish you the best with everything.
Yuolud. Damn you were a tough nut. One of the few that both I and Ish was scared to death of.
Avalusci. The Energizer bunny of the Fortress. Well done!
Dwybaen. I could count on you being after me within minutes of logging in. You provided a lot of thrill, even though my chances of a getting a kill was rather slim.
Voralia. Paladins are tough, but your gear and aggressiveness took it to the next level. I was a little bummed I died to you because of losing link, but then again you had kicked Megrul and Ishtugar around without breaking a sweat for like 15 minutes straight just prior, so you certainly earned it.
BATTLE RAGERS I got beaten a lot by you in the 20s and 30s, so Ishtugar had a healthy respect for the fighting prowess of ragers. In fact, his only play at politics was trying to get a truce between the blades and the battle ragers.
Klibendon. From logs and our interactions I am so impressed by your character. Temperance, persistence and skills. Keep trucking. Another who scared me. A lot.
Rohktiss. Very fun. Thanks for the fights and the laughs. Ishtugar was impressed by you, so he liked to fight you to improve, but he wasn't really seeing you as an enemy. For instance, there was some raid which Ishtugar thought was a stupid idea, so I made sure to let you escape after having made a reasonable effort.
Ogun. Had a lot of respect for you.
SCIONS The powerhouses.
Halifan. Very scary. You were something of an ass IC, but it made me chuckle. I think a high dex version of Ish could have given you more of a fight - I did note that I was pretty low on your radar, so thanks I guess.
Mirozah. Nice RP. I liked how you'd deceive, lie and manipulate others to do your bidding especially before hero. I made sure to grab some save vs. spar just for you and while it was enough not to die horribly, it was clear that outside of finding you on the retreat from another fight, there was no way I'd have a chance of taking you down. Keep kicking ass.
Drogtar. My favourite character. I can't say enough good things about you. From your gung ho attitude, your persistence, your silly jokes and all the crazy #### you pulled. It makes me laugh to think of it now. Keep trucking. You make the game more fun for all.
Others: Xalisten. I just wanted to say that I was impressed by the sheer level of your trash talk. In some ways it is refreshing to have a neutral/evil that isn't buddy, buddy with the Empire, even though I could imagine you bring the worst up in people.
Voszoad. Creepy RP. I would have liked to fight you a bit more, but shaking the tree alone just for the hell of it was too borderline even for Ishtugar.
Foedett. Nasty traps. You have been around forever and provided quite a stir among the imperials. I liked that you rolled with my little dumb giant speech the other day and I think we could have had some more fun. Best of luck.

Hey Thanks! It takes a LOT of effort to keep that many lies going at the same time. So many just between the different Imperial Sects. At one point, I had so many I had to make an excel spreadsheet just keep track of who I told what to. Insanity.
When I con-die/age-die I'll reveal a lot of stuff, promise. :)
I did enjoy our interactions and I hope you come back with something super nasty. GLWYN. You will be missed in Empire for sure.

but you really should have made a separate scions section for me instead of listing Drogtar under the power houses. Maybe the power houses then other Scions.
Thanks for sharing effect you were getting from me since I don't really know what everything does yet.

118467, Great Character, Great Player! Gimped build.
Posted by Yuolud on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Great Character, great player. RP choice o' build...ye deserve much recognition for lastin as long as ye did. I hae no doubt ye come back wid somethin that works better and ye will be one o' th' powerhouses.
Thanks fer th' compliment. There was a few times ye lost link late at server-time night and I let it go -- glad t' see that was actually going on. There's always that doubt...
Really enjoyed our fights and th' banter, though most ended up wid one o' us retreatin. Hope that last one didnae tip ye o'er th' edge, bit o' guilty on that.
Th' fact that we could banter an' insult and show battlefield respect fer one another while tryin to cave each other's skulls in is t' me th' ideal Maran/Blade relationship.

118469, Pretty neat character...

Much respect for the build you took and how it went against the grain. If you picked a cookie cutter powerhouse build you would of been trucking I think, but I like characters that go against the grain. We had some fun fights and good interactions. Ad I must say..Good lord that one day I sat FOREVER hidden by the tree so you would think I had slept and come to retrieve. That drove my patience to the brink.
Awesome character!
Croooooaaak!!

118460, Power to the Empire!
Posted by Ishtugar on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I had a lot of fun with Ishtugar. On the other hand he felt somewhat gimped, so when I died the other day, I decided to delete and try something else.
This character was made with two vague goals
1) Try not to take things too seriously but still try to RP. 2) Try out a fire sword spec.
I was sastisfied with 1), but 2) went south somewhere along the way.
Empire was alright. There was a little too much raiding going on for my taste and Ishtugar was by role too disorganized and simple minded to thrive in the political climate. Furthermore, I found group fights (even 2 on 2) very confusing, something I will have to work on. I just started logging and will look into highlights next :-)
I think the worst time I had with Empire was when Gharzal was around (no offense). There were a lot of strong heroes, but little opposition, so logins consisted of getting the items, suggesting stuff to do, get turned down, then try to make a little light hearted RP while sitting on guard duty.
Some imperials I liked (not an exhaustive list): Ankhran. Total badass. Ishtugar didn't like the black sect, but he couldn't argue with that you hands down was the toughest imperial around.
Morrow. You were cool. I find traps interesting, but they seem to require a lot of planning ahead, something I and especially Ish didn't really have the patience for.
Rahzeez. I think you were a good imperial. Very orderly, and lots of small, neat touches. In many ways, the opposite of Ishtugar, but it was great to be around you and see how tough fire sword could be. A shame that our play times didn't mesh.
Olddarund. Best of luck. You had a lot of flavour. Looking back, I think my favorite interaction was you paying Ish for something and we fooled around with the gold coins. That was fun and I'd like to experience more of those kind of moments.
Ergoth. You obviously know your stuff. I liked your dry wit, but Ish thought you had a stick up the arse. I tried your patience, playing the dumb, impatient giant and I hope it gave some interesting moments, if not excactly the optimal results. May you have fun.
Eumridae. I got a cool shadow vibe off you even though we didn't interact that much.
Qintaris. I liked how civilized you were. Very proper and imperial. Best of luck with everything.
Destuvius. Very cool. Ishtugar was as far removed from a follower as I can imagine being while still in Empire, so I certainly didn't seek you out, but it was great that you were around and offered small tasks and commentary on plans and activities. A huge boon for Empire. Oh, and thank you for the gold. Too bad Ishtugar had a weakness for elves and decided to blow it all on them :-) I hope to try a follower one day.
Cabarael. You came out of nowhere. Thank you for letting me see the interesting stuff, even though Ishtugar would rather be somewhere else. Good luck with getting mummy.

118458, Interesting build.

I'll admit that I was very surprised by your choice in specs and legacies. We didn't have too many interactions but I had fun in the few that we did. I hope you enjoyed them as well. Good luck on your next incarnation.

118462, Thanks
Posted by Ishtugar on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
The build was just short of horrible :-)
Almost every mechanical choice was made on a whim. Ishtugar was not one to plan ahead. I found a poison spear around lvl 15, so I decided to go spear/staff. At level 20 I found a cool flail lying in the guild and I choose flail as a spec instead. Gedunthos sent Ish some awesome tells, so I took the blood oath. Ishtugar was drunk and had some argument about specs (can't remember the details), so I chose dagger.
I got the claw of the dracolich at level 43. It was the best weapon Ishtugar had ever seen, so he wanted to use that. Except then he couldn't use specs. So I took balance of the sisters and so on.
