Have been away for a couple three years and decided I would try again. I had
four goals with this character.

Follow a god/goddess: Fail. She had deleted and I wasn't aware of that when
I rolled Ary up. Took the wind out of my sails.

Get into a cabal and do well in rp: I consider this a half fail because,
although I got caballed, I just couldn't find a groove to rp well.
I don't know what it is but I thought that I used to be pretty good at
stirring the pot, but it turns out with this one I was a poor foil.

Improve my pk ability: FAIL! I simply suck at pk, ain't no other
explanation. This build with outlander powers should have many
situational wins. Not me though. This is what made me delete.
I expect I did okay in defending but that is the easy place to be
for a ranger. Have played off and on since the dwarf in 1996-7 and
he was my best pk'er.

Age or Con die: FAIL! Next time I won't set the bar so high and see
if I can produce some longevity. I need to spend time learning to
pk at hero, maybe some day...

Auldr: Thanks for the time and energy that you put in. I was amazed and
as you probably noticed overwhelmed at the beginning. As someone who had
never been an outlander before I did not have any preconceptions and so
I thought it was all very cool. I thought you were outstanding.

Rostrak: Thanks for everything. I am only sorry I came in late to
the story line. You kicked butt and I am jealous. But give me that
build exactly and I would go 5 and 60.

Bakrar: I saw you as solid as a rock. Sorry I didn't stick around.
I should have stuck it out and learned with this character but I
just didn't get through the transition.

Outlanders in general: I can't name everyone but I thought you were
all extremely cool and supportive. Thanks for the songs and shields.
Reply and i'll respond. Thanks again for a very cool environment.

Empire: You were all as cool to me as you could be. Fuarg :) I felt
sorry for you when I made the charge, but hey I had full con 3
trains and 21 practices when I made it, so I know you don't feel
too bad. I will have flashbacks of iron weapons, bash and flurry for
a while. Forgot sleep, plague, poison, rot...
I'd say, some day I would get you back, but I kind of doubt
it.

Peace, out.

It's a different game than it was three years ago, and the three years before that. It's not surprising to me that the character wasn't as successful in PK as you hoped it would be - just keep at it and try some more things. You'll figure out what's killing you now that wasn't killing you three years ago.

I tend to think of elf ranger as a finesse/RP choice more than a pk choice. When I look at ranger I think pretty much every other race looks better for the class than elf. Don't get too down on yourself for feeling like you struggled in pk with this one, I think at least 90% of the playerbase would feel the same.

Good luck on your next, play like duergar flail spec or something and haunt Eastern Road at level 22ish. That'll perk up your confidence with pk for sure.
