A lich, any lich has his or her risks cut dramatically just because they're a lich.
No deafen - No blind - No unconsciousness - phylacteries that can mimic invoker shields and do a host of other things based on whomever contributed to becoming said phylactery.

Add Necromancer things to the mix like. Undead Army - Maledictions till the cows come home and so forth.

There was a day when Necromancers just went to hero like any other class and were a terror back then. Add lich properties and unless you're running around naked sans army the only risks you'll see is ignoring your health or fighting large groups. Even then, with the right gear you can potentially prog damage someone in one of those groups to death.

So Ahtielli should just suck it up. Unless you pull Zorszaul and at least one Istendil type fight(s), wherein you take on five or more opponents you will never be considered to really have taken a risk. If you don't do those and still consider yourself a risk taker as a lich, well, you're just fooling yourself..

The flipside, ie. solo taking on a lich who's not trying to suicide, that character is really just empowering the lich. The only situation wherein this would be acceptable is if a whole group was fixing to get whacked by the lich in question and the one person directly jumped the lich so the others could escape. But that's a rareity at best.

A rager will occasionally do the solo suicide attempt because they're ragers. That's how they roll sometimes...
