967, [FORTRESS] Monduphel the Weaponsmaster
Posted by Death_Angel on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Monduphel the Weaponsmaster
DescriptionUnusually tall and thin for a Storm giant, this young Storm stands hunched over, almost as if there is a conscious effort to not be so tall. His long green tresses fall far below his wide, skeletal, shoulders and fly about freely as they are not tied back at all.

971, Monduphel's Role Chapter 1
Posted by Death_Angel on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
RoleChapter 1 Explanation of his legacy choices Added Fri Dec 26 15:48:39 2003 at level 51:His first choice, was to Greet the Avalance. At the time he had no clue what he would study next within the Order...but he knew that his place in the war was as a Soldier. And what is a more common picture of a Giant warrior than a massive mound of flesh charging into battle against his foes, using his weight and size to crush them underneath. Thus he chose is first studies in the Order.
By the time he obtained enough learning to attempt further studies in the Order, he was beginning to understand that a mindless soldier was not exactly what the Light needed in this war. Thus he began to think hard on how he might grow inside his head, to attempt (however daunting the task seemed to him) to become more intelligent, as it were. And what other than Magic is connected with high intelligence throughout Thera. Once he understood that, his final choice of studies in the Order was clear...and he began to study to use magic as much as any warrior can.

972, Monduphel's Role Chapter 2

RoleChapter 2 Changing and maturing outlook on life. Added Fri Dec 26 15:41:40 2003 at level 51:As Mond has grown in strength and the knowledge of the Visceral world...both the good and the ill, his outlook on where he stood and what his purpose has evolved as well.
While he began his journey believing that it was his duty to find some Lord or Cause to pledge himself to in service...his idea of what form that Service must take has changed subtly.
At first, he approached the Fortress not knowing where he might fit in, and it was only after long talks with Amiwiel and Thalit and Beltantis and others that he began to see that "serving" the cause of the Light also can include being a soldier in the War against the Darkness, and he saw that his own small gifts and native temperment led him towards that path.
When he was younger, and just set out on the path of the Squire, the heat of his blood was often hard to contain, and he found it hard to listen to councils of caution and safety...and had a hard time dealing with such orders like that time that Lariya ordered him to not come with her to the Palace to retrieve the Orb...just because there at the Palace were six that he could...by the grace of the light...bring to the Justice of the Light.
While the heat of his blood has not cooled with his bit of aging into maturity, he has gained quite abit of "world wisdom" and has gained a measure of control over his hot blood.
The largest change to his outlook and the way in which he serves the Light, is his growin understanding that, while he is still not the most intelligent even amoung the slow-minded of his race, and as such is often lost in the High thoughts and discussions....he often finds himself in a position where his insights into the lowly needs of the day to day struggle are more acute than those who he is serving and travelling with at the time. Often he has found himself in the position where he had to step forward and make strong suggestions to those who are undoubtedly much more intelligent than himself, in order to make sure that their lives were preserved, often needing to lunge himself between them and danger in order to give them time enough to escape or rally for another assault.
Also, recently, he is becoming more and more impatient with his seeming inability to come "in time" when his friends call. It seems he is always dashing here and there, almost always arriving too late to bring his skills to the aid of his friends. And soon after he obtained his final advancement, this problem is what weighs most on his mind...how he can become better and a more useful servant to the Cause.

973, Monduphel's Role Chapter 3
Posted by Death_Angel on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
RoleChapter 3 Road to maturity. Added Fri Dec 26 15:02:48 2003 at level 51:Mond had quite a long road to the mature state that he was in when he reached the final lessons within the warrior's guild. Through hoards of "foul-smellers" and "stinkers" he knows that he most likely only won through with the help of the friends that he was lucky enough to find.
He counts himself in awe of the providence that brought him early into the friendship of such intelligent and wise people...like Amiwiel and Alynthorin and a few others. And he counts himself doubly blessed since his acceptance into the Fortress and the chance to meet so many wise worthies in the Fortress.
He may not make much of it aloud, for he would not wish to embarrass, but he believes that just about any and all of the successes that he has had in his life only came about through the help of his friends, formost being Amiwiel but also including Beltantis and Lariya and Floriyase and Analaen and many others in the Fortress.

974, Monduphel's Role Chapter 4
Posted by Death_Angel on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
RoleChapter 4 Short history Added Mon Dec 1 11:04:50 2003 at level 2:He always knew he was a little dull in the head. And to tell the truth, he likes it that way most of the time. Leaving all the hard decisions and deep thinking to people more suited for it.
He might have a bit more native intelligence than he projects and gives himself credit for, because growing up both of his parents drove into him how slow he was and how he would have to work extra hard to overcome that.
It did take a very long time for his parents and teachers to drive into his skull an understanding of good and evil, and why good is good and evil is evil. Knowing that he had a natural ability to judge people, and also knowing that he had a tendency to get confused when forced to do much thinking, his parents and teachers spent many years impressing upon him the need for him to find a Worthy Lord that can tell him what to do....and the overriding importance of Loyalty to those who he befriends.
I would have taken sphere loyalty if it was a sphere. And thinking on the other choices, Dedication was a close one...love was also a close one...but I finally settled on "Purity", but maybe a bit different than others have used "purity" in the past.
So, he enters the warrior's guild in galadon and begins his adventures, literally trying to sniff out new friends, and hoping to find someone wise enough and good enough to be able to see how best to help the light, and to tell him what to do.

975, Monduphel's Role Chapter 5
Posted by Death_Angel on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
RoleChapter 5 Personality Added Mon Dec 1 11:03:24 2003 at level 2:There are two things that really drive who Mond is. Loyalty, and his limited intellect. Mond's personality comes from an amalgamation and distillation (then maybe taken to an extreme) of a number of my favorite less-than-intelligent sidekick characters from literature. Among them being chiefly Samwise gamgee, and I am sad to say it...Hagrid the giant groundskeeper from harry potter.
He's basically a cheery sort, except when he thinks his friends aren't being treated well. And he rarely thinks of his own physical well being until all of his friends are safe.
He's always known that he is not the sharpest spoon in the drawer, but he also knows that he has a fairly accurate native affinity for character judgement. He's not quite intelligent enough to know exactly how he does it, but he rationalizes it to himself by convincing himself he has a really great sense of smell, and that he can tell by the smell of someone if they are trustworthy or not.
That isn't really how it works, and sometimes his nose and his native character judgement will conflict....like meeting an anti-paladin who smells great...or meeting a dirty-smelly dwarf paladin. In these situations, he tends to get very confused. And he hates being confused. Confusion, and being forced to ponder things that are beyond his ability to ponder, are among the few of the things that can put him in an altogether ornery mood.
