Description

This man before you embodies an aura of substance and danger. His visage
is concealed beneath an assortment of shadowy attire and protective
armors. His cold eyes, narrowed seem to have an intensity that suggest a
creature of high intellect and cunning. His long raven-black hair has
strands of silver blended throughout and ties back into a braid, falling
freely down his back. His physique, lean and muscular, is a testament to
years of rigorous training. His attire is a blend of dark, well-fitting
garments to assist in his silent movement and blending into the shadows.
A dark, hooded cloak conceals most of his face and adds to his menacing
presence. Strapped to his waist are wicked looking sharp daggers and two
swords held in scabbards are ready to be drawn in an instant. He portrays
a formidable figure as you consider your next move.

Chapter 3

Imperial Life

I have now proven myself and have become a citizen of the Empire, a
member of the powerful shadow sect. I am yet to meet the Emperor and thus
am unsure of how he will lead us to glory. However, my sect leader, the
Shadow Lord, seems well versed in his art and leads us well for the
moment. The Dread Lord, a vampyre is a powerful black sect leader for the
Empire. The High Priest seems driven and impatient, and I think seeks to
overthrow the Emperor based on the way he acts and looks down on the
lower ranks and treats them. For now, I bide my time, collect donations,
train in my weapons and skills to an elite level to ensure I am strong in
all and any battles I fight in. I will continue to prove myself and make
my way up through the Imperial ranks and one day I will become Shadow
Lord. I am patient and all comes to those who wait.

Background

I have no recollection of my parents and my earliest memories begin with
my life in the Balator orphanage. How I ended up there is a mystery,
though I knew this was no place I wanted to overstay my welcome. Run by
some old retired knight, life was strict and overly ruled. Dark
tendencies were inherent to my nature and, on more than one occasion,
brought a punishment. This, of course, had no effect, only drove me
further into darkness. It took malicious pleasure beating on another,
showing my power over them. Showing my strength and superiority had
become second nature. The only reason I stayed was the hot meal and warm
bed. The fools thought they could change my being, but they could not be
more wrong. I bided my time until I came of age and left and make my way
on my own.

I ventured out of the town of Balator and travelled south to the large
desert city of Hamsah. A place full of fascinating guilds, inns, and
various markets. There was always something interesting to see. I spent
much of my time near the docks scavenging on fish and meat left by the
multitude of ships coming and going. Doing odd jobs on the docks and
around the city made me a few coppers for a hot meal and, from time to
time, a room at the local inn. On one occasion, a group of armored
soldiers entered, the light reflecting off their razor-sharp swords.
Armors glistening and confidence emitting from their entire being.
Immediately, I could see fear in the customers and innkeepers eyes.
Seemingly, they had come for protection payments to be made to the
Imperial coffers. Their strength and power they displayed over others was
intoxicating. I knew I wanted this for myself and from that day I
directed all my strength towards this goal.

Following, I spent much of my time peering through the windows of the
combat room of the nearby assassin guild. There I watched them practice
their deadly art and was eager to join them. I had inherent skills that
had I had used to survive my youth and that would benefit me joining. So
many were weak, and I knew by joining this guild and training hard, I
would be ready to one day join the mighty Imperial Domain. The vast
imperial lands controlled by the mighty Empire set to spread out and
conquer Thera. This is a structured organization commanded by powerful,
respected leaders. With superior law and fear, fear of the Empire every
man and woman will have their place and live a more enhanced life. Their
goals I believe in and we will show what a place Thera can become when
led by the strong. However, those who betray, do not follow, resist or
oppose such an improved existence will be destroyed. When the time is
right, I will take my place amongst the Shadow. I will be patient,
deadly, dedicated and begin my rise to power.

Summary of my traits

1. Malezathran was born dark, a bully using his strength and confidence
to get what he wants. He cares only for his own selfish advancement. He
has no compassion for others and they are just a tool to reach his own
goals. He actually gains pleasure inflicting pain and suffering to
others. It all adds to his self confidence and power strength driven
nature he has.

2. Like all bullies, he only wants to bring fear to others by using his
strength and power over them. The Empire perfectly suited him, and he
will pursue that goal with all his being. He believes in their laws and
will use them for his own personal gain. He has loyalties to those above
him in the Empire only so that he does not disrupt his own advancement.
The Empire is the ultimate power in Thera and he will drive himself to
the top.

3. He has an intense hatred for paladins like the one that ran the
orphanage in his younger years.
