Description

Spirited pulses of life intertwine with the eerie touch of decay
show a creature caught between existence and oblivion. Her form
bears the enchanting grace of a living lizard, her scales depict
an enchanting mosaic of colors, vibrant and full of life. Yet,
upon closer inspection, you cannot ignore the haunting beauty of
her decayed elements, as hints of bone and remnants of death
emerge to weave a tale of paradoxical existence. She exhibits a
blend of suppleness and the ethereal rigidity of ancient bone,
merging together in harmony.

Changing right before your eyes the once resplendent scales now
exhibit traces of wear and tear, some edges fading into a delicate
patina of age. Her eyes, once vivid and alive, retain a glimmer
of vitality within their depths, but are surrounded by a subtle
halo of ethereal pallor, hinting at the enigmatic state she
embodies. The delicate balance between life and decay dances
across her features, revealing the duality that defines her very
being. You notice an open wound on her right arm that oozes a
green spore-like puss and attracts curious insects that swarm
around it.

Adorned in robes that speak of her dual nature, Bvalygg dons the
tattered remnants with an air of solemn acceptance. The once
vibrant garments now bear subtle accents of decay, a reminder of
the ever changing nature of existence. Yet, they still retain a
touch of their original beauty, symbolizing her refusal to be
defined solely by her decay. Her thin, black, forked tongue
tastes the air in a baleful manner which suggests she has an
appetite for something close by.

her like a cloak of choices. "Where does Bvalygg stand?" she inquired.

Zen'kra's gaze seemed to pierce the veil of Bvalygg's soul, as if she
could see the very essence of her existence. "Half way there, Twilight
Wanderer. Ritual disrupted, bound to both. Scales resonate with life,
bones bear decay."

Bvalygg's heart raced with the gravity of her situation. Halfway there,
suspended in an enigmatic balance. The options before her seemed like
doorways to fates as varied as the realms they represented. "What must
Bvalygg.. do? How choose?"

Zen'kra's smile held a mixture of sympathy and understanding. "Choice
must align with soul. Embrace what calls, let heart guide. Swamp whispers
secrets to those who listen."

As Bvalygg left the shaman's hut, the weight of her choice pressed
upon her, a decision that would shape her eternity. The options lay
before her like pathways through the unknown, each promising power,
purpose, and a bond with a realm beyond the mortal coil. In the heart
of the swamp, amidst the ancient magic, Bvalygg contemplated her destiny,
knowing that the choice she made would define not only her existence
but the very fabric of the worlds she straddled.

The Path to Undead, Part I

Bvalygg found herself drawn once more to the presence of Zen'kra.
The shaman's dwelling, a hut woven from the very fibers of the swamp,
emanated an aura of otherworldly wisdom. Bvalygg's existence had
brought her to this point, seeking answers that only Zen'kra could
provide. The shaman's eyes, ageless and filled with a knowing depth,
met Bvalygg's as she entered the hut. The air inside seemed to hum
with ancient power, and the scent of herbs mingled with the dampness
of the swamp. "Welcome, Twilight Wanderer," Zen'kra's voice carried
the weight of ages as she beckoned Bvalygg closer.

Sitting amidst the shadows, Bvalygg felt the weight of her duality
press upon her. She met Zen'kra's gaze, a mixture of malice and
determination in her eyes. "Guidance.. Death.. Options!" she hissed.

Zen'kra's lips curved in a gentle smile, and answered with similar
curtness "Paths to eternity: lich, mummy, vampyre, wight."

Bvalygg's tail lashed about in excitement, her interest piqued by
the shaman's words. Each path seemed to resonate with a different
facet of her existence, a choice that would define her eternity.
"What of these paths .. Zen'kra?"

The shaman's eyes seemed to gleam with a flicker of something ancient
and knowing. "Lich, master necromancy, bind soul to phylactery. Mummy,
guardian of secrets, body preserved by magic. Vampyre, thrive on
lifeblood but little more is known. Wight, a simple balance between
life and death, harness necromantic energy."

Dual Nature: Life and Death

In the aftermath of the intrusion, the spell that was meant
to transform Bvalygg into an akith'weh remained incomplete.
Zen'kra's powers faltered, leaving her in a precarious state,
suspended between life and death. As she awakened, she found
herself changed, not entirely alive, nor entirely undead. The
darkness that had once threatened to claim her now existed in
symbiotic harmony with the light of life.

From that day forth, Bvalygg lived as an enigma, a living
skeleton whose scales bore the haunting traces of decay. She
became known as the "Twilight Wanderer", her very presence an
embodiment of the delicate balance between existence and oblivion.
Filled with an unbridled rage at her demise, she seeks to learn
more about the negative magic that sustains her being. Her dual
nature, utilizing the powers of both the living and the dead
are acutely vulnerable to the veil. So not only does she set out
to fracture and destroy all those that oppose black magic and
negative energy but also those who seek to thicken the veil.

The Ritual of Akith'weh

A powerful and enigmatic ritual was performed that sought to
transcend the boundaries between life and death. Zen'kra led
the Sz'weh tribe in their most sacred undertaking: to unlock
the secrets of the akith'weh, the legendary undead lizards
spoken of only in whispers. The ancients of Sz'weh believed
that by transforming her into an akith'weh, she would transcend
death and become a conduit between the realms, a living
embodiment of the balance between life and decay.

For three days, the Sz'weh tribe gathered in a sacred clearing,
surrounded by the primeval whispers of the swamp and the hallowed
glow of ancient runes etched into the earth. The ritual began, and
Bvalygg was adorned in mystical attire, her scales reflecting
the vibrant hues of life and the haunting shadows of death. As
Zen'kra chanted incantations and wove spells of power, Bvalygg's
essence resonated with the arcane forces that surrounded her.

Yet, before the ritual could reach its climactic conclusion, a
devastating disruption shook the very foundation of the ceremony.
An unexpected invasion by a rival K'sra tribe, driven by fear
of tapping into the afterlife, interrupted the sacred gathering.
Led by Ghyss and with Jhel'nra by her side, chaos ensued, and
the ritual's flow was irreparably broken.

Chapter 1

Infectious Spores

The story of Bvalygg, at least what remains in her memory,
begins at the end of her former life in the swamps of Ysigrath.
As she wandered into its heart, she was attacked by a fabled
shambling mound. In a life and death battle with the creature,
Bvalygg was able to narrowly escape its crushing engulf and
flee but not without injury. She left a train of blood all
the way back to her Sz'weh village hut.

She lay for days trying to recuperate from her wounds however
she only got worse. It was this downward spiral that caused
her to get seen to by the ancient and revered shaman, known
as Zen'kra. The shaman noted that she had lichen around her
wounds and that spores had infected her blood. The Sz'weh
had no cure to this disease however this made her the perfect
candidate to join the Akith'weh.
