Ilves is the child of a wood-elven maiden and a forest spirit. The maiden
was a seer, with a connection to the dead, and the spirit was none other
than Joheem, the Hunter-King. There was another, however, that desired the
fair sylvan maiden as part of a centuries long plot to restore the goddess
Ilraeth to life, or a version of it. A shadow of the godling Karithia that
had clung to life through the ages, believed it had found its way back via
the maiden. Even though Karithia had possessed a handsome young wood-elven
captain for her plot, she was no match for Joheem. The maiden was in love
with the carefree forest spirt of the Ancient hunter, and soon was with
child. When the child was born, the godling made a last ditch effort to
take him, and while she was unsuccesful, part of the shadow remained, and
stays with him still.
