Zanzar the Emperor of Thera, The Grand Era, A Stronger Foundation
Added Fri Dec 30 14:43:27 2022 at level 51:

Zanzar had achieved his goals. The culmination of his life's work. The Grand
Performance, his great deceptions, it had all led him to the throne he swore
he would take as an anathema child, sold away as a slave.

Deception had served Zanzar well. It had become part of who he was. Dishonesty
flowed through his veins. But he found himself dissatisfied with the game of
it anymore, the manipulation for the sake of manipulation. It had become
enough he had outlasted and outwitted his foes. His Empire had grown, he had
risen to the point where he had the influence he needed. His deceptions had
uses, but they were tools. They were not a strong foundation to build his
Empire on. He would be looked at closely now for leadership, and to be an
example. Deception shows weakness, and it must be hidden. Because of that,
Zanzar has pledged to shed his deceptions, and only use his tools when his
influence fails to keep his Empire together.

It was a time of change for Zanzar. No longer relying on deception, he truly
felt he had become a man of the people. It was as if a large weight had been
lifted off his chest, and he was free to act of his own accord. He was
fiercely defensive of his subjects, every citizen was important to him. He
realized he was just not as young as he used to be, he was surrounded by a
young council, young citizens. He was aware his age may be seen as a weakness,
it was important to him to show strength. He was at the top of the mountain,
but to stay there, he would need to remain firmly grounded and aware. His
priorities were building the Empire, and maintaining the proper balance of
order. His sect leaders were fine choices, but he did not wish any of them to
get too comfortable, or too complacent. Instead of pitting them against each
other, he would have them worry about the rising prospects of the growing
Empire. He decided it would be hard for them to build a foundation on so many
hungry and eager prospects the way Zanzar had.

He was focused on his legacy now. Leaving the Empire in the better state it
was in when he entered it, marching the Grand marches, waging a war of
conquest and glory, and humbling himself to become closer to the Lord Rillan.
He still had a desire to please the Lord. His legacy went hand in hand with
pleasing him, and Zanzar still has that deep desire inside to be adored and
recognized. He would find that in his loyal subjects and in serving the Empire
with each day he had left, however long or short that may be.
