The sacrifice

The small acts of Weh at first had been enough to sate his thirst and
curiosity, filling the void which he felt within his soul. Yet now his hunger
had grown having tasted it, and he needed more. He needed something grander
then the small mammals and creatures found within the surrounding swamps. For
while their essence was delightful, there was something bland about their
soul as if it lacked something.

The whispers pulled upon this and told him of how the more evolved and
intelligent a species became, the more nourishing their soul would be. And so
slowly the whispers eroded at Aubrasz sense of morality, bending his natural
predatorial instincts of survival into believing it was his true purpose. He
truly wanted to feel the Weh pour forth from the vessel, to embrace that
primal connection to the Aether and watch as the life dimed in its eyes.

But who would have this honor? The honor of being the one to show him the
path truly dedicated to the Weh? It was indeed a great honor the whispers
told him, and he must choose wisely to give it great importance. Such an act
was intimate and personal, and he would feel disgusted if his first taste of
true Weh and Death was of someone below his station. As Aubrasz mulled over
who would be given such an honor, the whispers placed a simple name in his
ear. A name which caused him to pause and a look of joy lit in his eyes. Yes,
yes, this would be the perfect soul. The one who had given him life shall
once again give him HER life. Jyasillas would have the honors to embrace Weh
and truly give her son everything which she had promised.

Once committed to such, Aubrasz wasted little time. In his younger days he
was impulsive and given to his emotions driven by the hunger within him. As
his mother came to bring him his meal upon the very night he made the
decision, he turned upon her and placed her own ceremonial dagger into the
soft spot under her throat. Oh how the blood rushed forth and coated her
scales, now giving her the same appearance of Aubrasz as her white scales now
stained red.
