Faelria the Weaver of the Elements

Description

A delicate woman stands before you, her wild silvery locks shining
against the blackness of her skin. She's very light of build, seeming
somewhat frail and reaching roughly five and a half feet in height,
and she has her share of the typical elvish beauty disrupted only by
a few unsightly scars on her slender, almost bony wrists. Shallow
wrinkles have started forming about her piercing blue eyes, a
testament to age along with the slight hunch in her posture. Still,
she moves silently and gracefully, as if ignoring the toll the years
have taken on her body. Her attire doesn't seem to be composed with
style topmost in mind, but rather functionality; it consists of random
pieces gathered together with just enough thought to avoid making them
clash, and she wears little jewelry or other adornments.

Chapter 1

The damned Tower

Of course, something else turns up just as the Spirit leaves her to her own
little plans. The damned Tower, Nyathl Ikalith... the Tower of Silence. The
enormous power hidden within those quiet halls is a temptation almost
impossible to resist, yet the secrets hiding it from her grasp are still too
obscure, too deadly... and yet it keeps calling to her again and again, to
take "one more try". This does not exactly amuse the aging dark-elf, and the
frustration of failure makes her even more susceptible to bouts of sadism and
random acts of destruction... which do bring some alleviation for a short
moment.

The fading ghosts of past

More often than not, days pass without even a whisper from the Spirit, now.
Sometimes, in the middle of some adventure, isolated from everything else,
it springs back to life, slipping thoughts into her head, but often it is
as if it had never existed...

Faelria, herself, is not certain what to think of the complete lack of her
"side persona", and has indeed come to suspect that what she always thought
to be a separate entity just might have been a very independent figment of
her imagination... yet, in fear of the case that it isn't, she takes care
of not speculating that possibility very much. What if it has simply
decided to observe rather than guide her... and is just waiting for her to
slip.

The return of the Old...

With the passing of the years, the Spirit's voice has grown more quiet and
become more of a suggestive whisper than a demanding, irresistible shout.
As far as Faelria sees this, not only has the Spirit gained more trust and
confidence in her abilities and thus allows her to act more on herself, but
she has also grown strong enough to resist its temptations.
On the other hands, perhaps it is simply the scars of her long imprisonment
slowly healing, her shattered personality gathering itself back to its
former shape... which has brought with it an even greater thirst to become
even more powerful, to expand her horizons. The years spent smoothtalking
and persuading various merchants and traders all over the lands have left
her more confident with her ability to gather allies, or "lackeys" as she
might more think of them, and those lackeys should prove most useful in
finding not only ways to sate her destructive urges, but to find those said
new horizons...

What and why?

"Yesss... this is a perfect place for a shrine to your power."
A flash of light, a wave of searing heat. Flames catch on to the dry,
simply wooden structures and they start to burn, filling the air with
thick smoke. Standing in the middle of the "street", if one could call
the trail going through the village of the jade elves such, Faelria
watches the destruction spread, focused intently on the bright, hot
flames despite their light making her eyes water. The villagers were
nowhere to be seen, hiding from the brutal, sudden attack, and those
who hadn't made it away in time... were now feeding the fires. The
dark-elf smiles in grim satisfaction, reveling in the sight for a while
longer before she leaves.

Faelria is never alone. Whether the voice in her head is just a lucid
dream, a hallucination brought to existence by the years spent in
solitude in a cold prison cell after being caught in a raid by a rival
house, or a true vengeful elemental force just seeking to unleash its
power on the world through the dark-elf is all irrelevant; for her, it
is her never-tiring companion, her provider, the source of her strength.
More accurately, two personalities dwell inside her, not always in
agreement, with the one she sees as "herself" being mostly in control.
Her cold, patient and calculating nature is countered by the fiery,
destructive Spirit side, with which she often converses and plots in her
thoughts... as well as tries to keep it at bay.

Even despite of her own personality being the dominant one, she sees the
Spirit as the one truly guiding her. It grants her all the power... and
in return, she helps it realize its desires. In her view, everyone else
does the same, as well. Whether they know it or not, they all are just
pawns in a game for some greater beings, and the ones ascending beyond
mere mortality become the ones in control themselves. Herself, she is
content being a "pawn", as she takes pleasure in serving the Spirit.
