Chapter 3

A Veil of Souls.

Two centuries. That is how long she has endured her stations in life. At one
time she longed for the grandeur, of being at the top, ruling over her own
great House, and in turn all other Houses far, wide, and below. But what is
dominion of insufferable fools, ingrates, and usurpers if not, at best, a
thorn in her side?

This Empire needs her more than she it, and the bloat only exacerbates this
truth while it exasperates her.

Greater than any Empire is the individual. It has always been the combatant
to which victory is due, where wars are won, and glory lives on. There may
be dominion in the machine but there is power in the combatant.

She will topple the machine. All of them, each and every House in demise in
a scorched landscape of ruins and shadow. There will be no eternal war, only
survival of the one, the true combatant of blade, body, and mind.

Even now she erodes the confidence of Darkness and Order. But they are on to
her operating in the shadows. For now remains the clash of subterfuge but it
will soon turn to blood.
