Matters of Faith

Exlajin, two days before he died, spoke with me about his charity, his good works.
He was understandably proud for giving things to others, but he did not see that
giving tainted items about was not about balance, but was promoting evil. This
lead to a discussion about what it means to be balanced in regard to morality,
and when confronted on this issue, he stated that morality was not a priority.
In truth, his "amoral" stance was a matter of convenience, not of one o priority,
for it would have interefered in his exploration, adventures, and acquisitions.
It saddens me we could not follow this conversation with another, but I hope he.
is now in a better place.

Orenby has been a good friend and companion, but I am afraid even after our talk,
his bank account is still excessively large with gold that might rival an imperial.
Obviously the future may hold a need for finance his war against the darkness,
but that becomes too easily a justification for avaricious behavior. He did not
argue, but I have no idea if he is still slaying dragons repeatedly for their
hoards.

Luthias, a young paladin, showed interest as I departed with a group to Trothon.
"Exploration can strengthen the light," I told him, "but we should never let our
desires for adventure or artifacts jeopardize the lives of those in our care."
This came about in response to the covetousness of a squire bard aspiring to Maran.
