My dearest darling,

I won't keep you with the stories I've told you of the senile High Herald and
the traitor Kytria. You've heard it all already when I've dreamt fondly of
and found you. This letter is for after. When we're finally again, my love.

I will follow the High Herald's words to the letter. I am at her command for
all things Herald. And yet it seems I'm the only Herald bringing gifts of joy
and food those outside of the Inn. How is that someone who tries to teach me
of Heraldic values keeps herself in the words of her goddess till she's
blind?

I miss you. I fear for you. When we spoke, you asked me to teach you the ways
of my craft. Candles made thick off fresh fat. Crimson rugs and runes drawn
in ways that made my eyes hurt just to see them.

I know that what you do is for us. It is what we both do. It's why you called
to me in my dreams. But I don't like this new quest. My darling, I'm afraid
for you.

You will go where you said you would and asked for my help with. It is your
way and why I love you so much that it frightens me.

But please, my love, if this letter can reach your ears before you read it in
our home next to me, be careful. Those things that you asked for aren't what
a noble elf such as yourself should sully themselves with. Before you go to
that dark place, please, remember that your heart would go there bravely for
you in your place.
