Carreana Corbin the Heroine of Faith

Description

Standing before you is a figure with raven black hair that falls down upon
her shoulders in loose curls. As the light hits it at different angels, it
almost shimmers a deep purplish hue like oil upon water. With her hair pulled
back from her face, one can see pale cream colored skin which is smooth and
unblemished by any marks or scars. Her slightly almond shaped eyes a piercing
icy blue in color. While her ears as well mark her of her elven heritage, the
left ear appears to have the tip cut off from it. Though she seems to wear
jewelry which seems to display and accentuate the scar as if she is proud of
it in some way. While she stands taller then most women, her body is
accentuated by soft curves unseen upon any Elven women marking her half blood
heritage. Her garments appear to be well fitted and taken care of, as a light
scent of perfume can be smelled upon the air. A coy smile graces her face,
yet there is no doubt there is a vicious viper behind those hard eyes.

Chapter 31

In the end, there is only Father

It has never been a secret that Carreana could care less about nature and she
only cared about the destruction of society. Yet so many are constantly
shocked when she does not hunt those races which the Refuged had decreed to
be hunted. Such was stupid, for they too were born of the world. Simply
because they did not fit with the Refuges vision they should be hunted? How
was this any different then society looking down upon those who embrace sin
and debauchery. To hate something simply because of what it is or chooses to
be, THIS is part of what needs to be destroyed.

So many wish to bend Carreana to their little wars and demands but she
refuses. If their death proves useful or amusing to her Lord it shall be
done. Though she is no ones puppet. For as she turned her back upon the
Refuge and left ashes in her wake many now claim she walks in the darkness of
the Scions. While it is true Danssha beckons her to the shadows, Carreana
places that of Father first and foremost. It is to him she lives for, as she
is his loyal daughter. She cares less about the petty wars over things that
do not matter, for in the end she shall destroy the world.

Let the fools think what they want, for in the end she shall be the one left
standing at her Fathers side.

Chapter 30

The path of shadows

Long has it been coming, and Carreana has planted her seeds of rot deep
within the roots of the Refuge. The sad amusing part is that she perhaps has
held the closest to what the outlanders should seek to be. Yet they fawn over
each other and pretend to make a difference yet fall in step with the
shackles which binds everyone else. Carreana, well she has found that the
TRUE ancients were those who were before those the Outlanders praise. Things
of darkness and shadows which formed in the primordial chaos of nothing. The
things which case nightmares and cold sweats, things which Carreana seeks to
return this world to. The Outlanders talk yet they always stop short of their
goals, as if they truly did not wish to bring about true change.

It was perhaps the droning annoyance of Rinn who told her that she should not
place her Pride and Morius before that of the Refuge. That it was as if she
was there simply for handouts from the ancients. Gnashing her teeth, she
would not let this stand as NO ONE shall ever be placed before Father Morius!
And handouts? She had to fight for everything she has ever taken within this
world. These fools fear to accept the true powers of the ancients for they
are dark and powerful. Instead they would wish to sit in a glade and hug a
tree and kiss a toad. Idiotic fools. This is the true reason Carreana now has
turned her back upon the Refuge and removed herself. Ashes in her wake, for
SHE chooses such and shall not be exiled by their choice.

Chapter 29

Summary to this point (continue)

Carreana does as she pleases and refuses to bow to any rules or laws, even
those of the Refuge. She seeks knowledge on nightwalkers and the shadow
planes where she believes the leviathans were banished to. Her ego has lead
her to make acquaintances with Danssha of the Scions who courts her to join.

Ever since being spurned with the Nightreaver incident, Carreana has pushed
harder at the destruction of the Fortress. She see's them as the bastion of
morality and the source of problems for Morius. She has taken pleasure in
raiding the Fortress and watching them complain as they thought they were
safe. She even mocks them and points out to the Refuge that they have a
keeper and watcher which are not from this plane. She uses this to point out
the hypocritical views of the outlanders.

Carreana finally got the full attention of Father Morius and gave her soul to
him. She was marked as his and this has only enflamed her goals to destroy
the world. Morius promised her power should she stay in the Refuge or leave
and join the Scions. She advised him that there was some more seeds of chaos
she must plant within the refuge before she burns the tree and leaves ash in
their mouths.

Carreana knows that she will not be named Nightreaver, as they fear her with
power. They know she will not hold back and bring destruction to the world.
They hope to control her but they do not know her true path. Once they name
the Nightreaver, Carreana shall burn all she can and join Father in Scion to
continue her studies of the shadows.

Summary to this point

Summary to this point for Carreana:
Born to a elven cortasan who fell out of favor, fled from society with the death
of her mother.

Followed in her mothers foot steps, as she saw it as a way to take power back
from people. She was the one in control, the one in power.

Is driven by her pride that she was able to survive and grow. Refuses to let
society break her will or her spirit. Within the Church of Morius, she found
a Father she never had. Where everyone would point out her flaws, her sins,
her twisted morality, he would simple embrace her with love. She is driven
to be his most beloved daughter, and will destroy any who gets in her way of
his attention.

Joined Outlanders more out of her hatred of order, society and morality.
Could care less about the nature aspect of Outlanders. She wants to see the
world torn down and burned, as that is the only way to reset the world and
society.

Within the shadows, whispers speak to her of power locked away and banished
since the early ages. She is now driven to find these leviathans, these
monsters which would destroy the world.

In her research she discovered that the two original gods came from another
plane and created everything. In truth, shattering the entire beliefs of the
Refuge as these gods even created demons and the shadow plane.

Carreana was passed over for the Nightreaver, and she refused to accept such
slap to her pride. She refused to ever call Riazle Nightreaver and she always
made a point to mock him in public and seed chaos between him and the Refuge.
Carreana also stirred up conflict between Riazle and Rinn.

Chapter 27

To be Witnessed! (pt II)

Having put one fool in his place, Carreana would soon be set upon by yet
another trying to steal away her glory. Yet as ever, she would emerge from
this trial unbent, and unbroken. Danssha slithered in as a ghost before
Father Morius, already a state of insult. One should have prepared themselves
in a manner befitting his love and faith. Yet Danssha would go on to question
the power and love of Father Morius, trying to bring low Carreanas unwavering
faith.

Carreana however refused to fall for Danssha barbs and came at her even
stronger then before. To this, it only caused Father Morius to smile and nod.
Danssha was sent away so that Carreana would have her time finally with
Father, have her place rightfully at his side as his most beloved. It was
here that Father Morius placed his hands upon her head and asked if she would
be his. Yet it was a question that did not need to be asked as she had been
his from the start. With her words, he plunged his fingers deep within her
flesh. Pain and pleasure mixing deep within her soul as it was hard to tell
what sounds she truly was making. As the power of Father Morius coarsed
through Carreana, she could feel his finger upon her forehead still, the
smell of singed flesh upon the air.

For now all the world would look upon her and see that she was worthy. That
Carreana truly was beloved by Father Morius and that she walks with his mark.
By this all shall be judged by her to see if they are worthy enough to
embrace Fathers love and those who are not shall be broken.

Chapter 26

To be Witnessed by Father!

Entering onto the holy ground of Fathers shrine, Carreana gave her praises to
Blessed Morius. And lo, the door to his personal space opened up as if to
welcome her deeper into the church. Times before she had wandered in
un-invited, for who could resist such a thing? But this was the first time
she felt the pull of her Father within.

Before her the air seem to twist and writhe with pure raw emotions, and from
the shimmer darkness stepped Father Morius! It was then Carreana knew true
joy in her heart unlike all else. It was now that all her life had lead up
to. As the blessed words of Father caressed her, all too sudden they were
interrupted by a fool. False converts lured only by the potential of power
and not true sin within their heart. For Nimms attempted to subvert Fathers
attention from her, yet she would not have it. But the joy and love upon
Fathers face from seeing her fight so hard for him, knowing the faith she
must have, only made her more fierce. It was determined that each would
present Father a gift, in which Carreana grinned. Nimms stepped up and
presented Father Morius with an Imperial Ration, and stepped back with a
proud look upon his face. This one could not be serious, could he? Standing
before the Blessed Father and you present him with some drivel which a slave
could procure?

While the fool watched, Carreana stepped before Father Morius and presented
to him not one but two offerings. The first was a slice of the ninth level of
hell, in which all sins were born from the hearts of mortals. Though this
simply would not do, for Father deserved more. Father Morius deserved pure
and unwavering Faith of the soul, so to him Carreana gave herself to him
completely and without question.

Chapter 25

The Chaos of the sheep

Mmmmm the screams and cries from the Sheep as word spread of Carreana taking
the Crystal orb. Even Dohri the Elder Prophet dedicated to love and
compassion was filled with rage and spoke harshly towards Carreana. And this
filled her heart with excitement to gain such a response. Even those foolish
members of the Refuge cried out, claiming that they would now have to defend
against the very ones they truly love.

The Refuge did not hold the crystal too long, for a paladin and Gara came for
it. Licking her lips, Carreana filled Gara with despair and slayed him within
the Forest as the paladin left him to die. Ah the rage and screams at such,
the filthy little felar spiting upon her as his eyes were filled with rage.

Those of the Fortress ran crying and screaming to all who would listen, till
they found the ear of Rinn. For Rinn thought to bring Carreana to task for
her actions, yet should could not care. Where did it say that the Fortress
was protected from the wrath of the world? For were they not part of the
problem? Rinn professed however that there were more important enemies which
one should focus upon, yet would never truly address the problem or issues.
Rinn could not tell Carreana which rule (as if she cared anyway) that she had
broken, nor could Rinn explain why the Tara'bals were protected while demons
were not.

Carreana dared them to remove her, for it would only show the world how many
truly were blind within the world. For too many speak as if they wish change,
yet when faced with it back down and have not the spine to do such.

Chapter 24

Defiling the Crystal and Maran Library

Ever has Carreana been unbroken before the assault of those of light, for
they challenge her and fear her because of the truth Father Morius brings.
They have even struck at the refuge many a times in attempts to bring her low
yet she always walked out untouched. And of late Rinn and Riazle has
blustered about bringing about the destruction of those against the bark so
Carreana thought she would make a fun little excursion.

For it was also rumored that there was a library deep within the Fortress to
which may help unlock the mysteries of the Shadow plane and those banished to
such. Assaulting the Fortress, Carreana battled the Tara'Bal and Watcher and
brought them low with the blessed power of Father Morius. In such she was
amused to discover that they too came not from this plane but from another.
Yet Rinn and others would dare defend them and fret over the destruction of
such.

Upon the obtaining of the crystal orb, Carreana plunged into the Library of
the Fortress but was greatly disappointed by the drivel which she found
there. With the crystal in her possession, she took it to Father Morius
shrine to present it to him as a gift to please him. Upon offering it, and
debasing it within the Sins of the world, Carreana then took it to the tree
as a trophy and placed it within.

Chapter 23

Voices within Shadows

Either Carreana is favored above all else by Father, else she is going insane
by the voices she hears from the shadows. Her path has ever lead her to walk
within such, as she knows there is power there and that such powerful
creatures slumber yet shrouded in them. But the vague whispers almost tease
knowledge that she lust for, giving her just enough to continue to put up
with the fools whom she walks with.

This time, the whispers spoke of how she must seek out the Arial storyteller
for they shall lead her to something wonderful or powerful. An Arial? There
have been very few which have ever risen to the importance for Carreana,
however here HAD been one which opened the door for her research. The Herald
assassin. If Carreana remembered correctly, they had been a story teller and
was the one who vouched for her to enter into the Lyceum.

Traveling to the Inn, Carreana could not find him and told Gwendelya that she
must speak with them. That foolish Gwendelya refused to tell her if he was
awaken or not and insisted that she be told for why. This Elf demanding
ANYTHING from Carreana? Amusing to say the least and while Carreana had
promised many of the Heralds that the Inn shall remain when she destroies the
world, she made no promises about certain individuals.

Another however stepped up and spoke that the Story teller was not about, and
in such Carreana left. She will find him, and learn what he knows or has to
offer

Chapter 10

Some Just want to watch it burn

Ever since Carreana has been on her own, she has stood strong and refused to
bend to anyone's will. Refused to conform to morals and laws which only bind
and inhibit one's soul to the truth of the world. Granted, she has always had
a love for riches and shiny things but not because of any value placed upon
them by society. But merely because she loves taking from those who think
they are better then her. Once she has what she wants, she could care less
about its worth or use as it no longer has the appeal of the hunt.

Perhaps it is because of this is why she has often shunned that of
civilization and their rules. Or perhaps it was because of what was done to
her mother. The fact that they were always looked down upon for surviving,
for not following like sheep the arbitrary rules set in place. By allowing
those to manipulate the system, her mother paid the price so that she could
live free. This is why she will take from those within the world and society.
This is why they owe her and she will not be satisified until she has torn
down every major city brick by brick. To set the world ablaze and allow chaos
to reign, allowing the primal nature of mortals to return to sin.

While there are those foolish children within the refuge who have these grand
ideals and beliefs, Carreana is simple in her actions. Unlike the tree
huggers, she simply wants to watch the world burn while she indulges in life.

Chapter 9

To walk among the Trophies

As Carreana entered into Father Morius' shrine, once again she offered her
essence so that she may be noticed. Though from the wings she was greeted by
Riettlor the Prideful as he watched her with a look of disdain. Carreana has
seen men like this time and time before, thinking they were her better and
underestimating her. Men like this were easy to handle in most cases, yet
there was something a bit more about this one. This one emanated power, and
this set Carreana's skin tingling with excitement.

With an exchange of quips, Riettlor thought to boast of his power and show
Carreana all the "trophies" in which he had obtained for Father Morius. Yes
his little toys were impressive for a simple man like him, though Carreana
knew in her heart she would provide better and more. Hell, her mere presence
within this room made her a move vaulable trophy then anything which could be
seen. Though she was not to be Riettlor, only that of Father Morius.

Intriguing Riettlor enough, he consented to give Carreana just a taste of the
power which Father Morius to prove if she was worthy enough to gain Father
Morius attention. As she basked in the glory which filled her, it was all too
fleeting. For as soon as she had felt its power, she wanted more. The craving
of this power was all she could think of for hours after, knowing without a
doubt that she must gain Father Morius attention at any cost.

Chapter 11

Trophies

Ever since the day Carreana received the blessing of Father Morius, she has
thirsted for more. To feel the rapture and bliss of his power coursing
through her body, yearning to have him acknowledge and witness her and her
actions again. It has driven Carreana upon a long journey into the wilds
where she could be free of societies shackles.

Into the world Carreana ventured spreading the word and joys of Father
Morius. To bring to the blind the truth of the mortal spirit which had been
shackled by society. Her first trophy came at the death of Ceva, an assassin
of little renown. However it was a death that shall forever live in his soul
as she was his first. The fear and joy that Carreana brought upon Ceva made
him beg her to allow him to join in her travels, which she graced him with
such briefly. This wold be a trophy that even Riettlor would never possess.

The other trophies were more mundane yet worthy of Father. The heart of
Brimstone from an insolent assassin who dared assult her as she spread the
word of Father. From his corpse she took this ring, and now it is ever a
reminder of the power of Fathers blessing. And as well Lammasu was beset
upon, where she fell in a bloody pile. Her weapon stripped of her as the
wailing screams of souls could be heard within such. This was destroyed in
Fathers name, and sadly would never make it upon the walls.

And last trophy which was pointed out by Riettlor was one that was hers and
hers alone. Another scar given to her by an Imperial assassin. The assassin
feared her so much that he hunted her not long after the first battle to try
to break her. Yet she stood and became stronger. Society could not break her,
nor could this little worthless assassin. Instead it only drove her on.

Chapter 12

To be Witnessed by Father, and become the Priestess of Pride

The last time she was within the Temple of Father Morius, Riettlor challenged
her to rise up and show herself worthy of Fathers attention. Carreana knew
that she was indeed worthy and it would be a minor task to prove such.
However she did not wish to obtain simple trinkets as any could acquire, but
she wished to prove her dedication and show her pride in her faith.

Once she had acquired which she wished, she returned once again to the Temple
of Father. While lounging within the Trophy room, she knew she would be
witnessed by Father and earn his blessing once again. She just HAD to have
it, as she craved this attention, this power which he filled her with. With
verbal jabs and quips between herself and Riettlor, she had proven herself to
this soul with her actions. Carreana's actions would be spoken of upon the
lips of Riettlor onto the ears of Father Morius. It was rapture to know
Father would witness her words and actions, however it annoyed her that it
was not by her own liips but by another.

Yet she knew this was only another step in her path. A step proving not only
to Thera of her pride and faith in Father Morius, but to those who have been
chosen by him. Accepting her place as was rightfully hers, Carreana walked
forth into the world. For now it was known she was not only a priestess of
pride, but a priestess of Father Morius. And in her words the world would be
saved and destroyed.

Chapter 13

Awakened within the Refuge

For so long Carreana traveled alone, as she refused to bow to anyone within
the Refuge even though she had pledged to such. It was only when the Night
Reaver approached her did she decided to grace them with her presence, for he
recognized her power and greatness. And not long after assuming such a
position within the Refuge, she began to make her mark known.

She struck quick and hard at the Spire when they would dare take the fetish,
for it was hers and she would never allow someone to steal from her. Yet, she
was still treated at arms length by the other members. Perhaps it was awe of
such beauty and power, or perhaps even that of jealousy she did not know.
However it did not stop Carreana from living life with passion and indulging
in everything it had to offer. She would help awaken the ancient spirits, for
they too would feel the blessings of Father. Though as she journeyed through
the lands, there were whispers spoken of in the dark jungles which had been
forgotten to memory. Tales of even greater and more powerful beast lost to
the world. Beast which would have ruined society and civilization if they had
been allowed to roam the lands unchecked. Leviathans they were called, beast
of nightmares.

Now these creatures, they deserved her attention and to such she began to
learn all she could to awaken them or bring them back into this world. For
they would herald the rebirth of the true garden of Father Morius, cleansed
of morals and shackles so that one may ever indulge.

Chapter 14

Bards and the Words of Father. (How Carreana met Atrissa)

With the rising power of Carreana, it stirred fear within that of the
Fortress, for the elder prophet of the light Ithyssraya sent forth a missive
slandering Father and the holy church! Carreana took great pride in this, as
it appeared that she was spreading the word of Father well enough to cause
such. However she could not let such a slander stand, and to pen she went
speaking the truth of Father. Though the light had done their work well, and
caused fear among many of the bards who could put her word out there for all
to read.

And yet Carreana persisted in her quest, for she would not deny Thera the
blessings and love of Father Morius. Such was when she came across Atrissa
the herald of the Eternal Star. Those of the Inn do love to indulge and it
would not take much to stroke the passion and ego of thise woman. To give her
some attention and fan the lust and vanity within her, Carreana sauntered to
the Inn. With words of honey, she began the banter with Atrissa in which she
actually said she would consider publishing her words of Fathers blessings.
Yet Atrissa was not as easy to win over as Carreana had hoped as she too seem
to enjoy the sins of life, even if she would not fully commit to them.

It was here that Carreana began to establish a bond over the death of the
Fortress Captain in which they both disliked. To the point where Atrissa
fawned over Carreana and insisted that she attend her event. While knowing
such things are often pomp and dreadful, she could not pass up an opportunity
to stir up drama of those who would attend. More so, Carreana had hoped to
win over and influence Atrissa so that she would print the praises of Father
Morius.

Chapter 15

The Celebration of Loss and Life

Ah, the time had come when Carreana had promised Atrissa that she would
attend her gathering. Originally it had not given her anything to look
forward to as it was merely a means to an end. However Atrissa had promised
her that she could stir up all the drama that she wished so long as she
attended. With the death of Vlijerous, Carreana started to plan a gift for
those grieving within the fortress.

As the event unfolded and words were spoken of Vlijerous, Carrena slipped off
to that of the brawling room. It was here she summoned forth the spirit
animal of the dead captain, a vulture. For Carreana and Atrissa had earlier
toasted and laughed at such, both noting how he was nothing more then such. A
fitting gift from Father to the Fortress! To give them something to remember
their dead captain about.

Yet this did not seem to please the Maran at the event and several left in
such a huff. So amused that she could provoke them to feel the anger and
rage, Carreana knew this night had been worth it. Though as the night wore
on, and the drinks losen the tongue of Atrissa, it became apparent to
Carreana that Atrissa seems to think to have won her over. Pfah! Yes the
woman had her charms and looks, but she was no mere common woman who could be
won over by sweet words and drinks. It had become clear to Carreana that she
would not get words of Father sent to Thera by this means, and such irrated
her. Finishing her drink, and well the drinks of another Carreana walked
through the event as all eyes watched her and left the Inn.

As Carreana wondered back to Fathers Shrine, still warm by the essive drink
she knew she could not depend upon anyone else to spread Fathers word. She
would find a way to spread his word and blessings to a greater mass, and
those who would shun such would know his wrath.

Chapter 16

The refuge so far:

As she gained within the ranks of the Refuge, Carreana has grown a bit
disappointed with that of the refuge. While there are a few who truly
understand hear beauty and place, many others seem to open their eyes and
giver her what is due. What is worse, it has felt to Carreana that there are
some who plot against her and allow her stumble. Perhaps in attempts to break
her pride and devote love for Father Morius, or perhaps just out of sheer
stupidity.

Carreana has found how they woo her to burn the spire down, yet are first to
run and leave her behind. What is worse, she also has her suspicions that the
Harbinger picked over her corpse and passed along a few of her garments to
the Nightreaver. Since that time, Carreana has a growing distrust of those
two and is ever plotting ways to bring them down.

Carreana has always has an eye upon the Harbinger as she speaks of destroying
the world so it can be reforged with all the elves as one, yet she always
stops just short. More so, when Carreana approached her to post the words of
Father in defense of moral zealots within the Fortress, she declined to get
involved. To believe, that the harbinger would side with those who base their
very existence upon civilization and morality!

Chapter 17

Danssha and the Scions

It has been said by some that Carreana falls short of the idealistic member
of the refuge, and she could care less. She is not a slave to a set path or
rules, the very thing it is said that the Refuge rally against! Instead she
does as she wishes when she wishes. Now granted more times then not such
chaos is aligned with the goals and ideals of the Refuge and all is happy.

However, as of late she has had her interest piqued in those of the Scion.
Early on she came across Danssha who as well was not beholden to any dogma
which shackled her to morality or rules. In fact Danssha had no issues in
striking out at the Fortress nor did it seem to be an issue that Carreana was
of the Refuge. Carreana praised Danssha for recognizing her for her powers
and refusing to yield. It was in this moment that Carreana found an
interesting alley that one would never expect.

However those of the Fortress cried out with such a union, and this only
widened the smile upon Carreana's face. Carreana truly never witnessed
Danssha walk with any unborn nightwalkers, and honestly she could not care
less. They were tools which would destroy civilization and perhaps those
within Scion would know ways to find and unleash the leviathans and ancient
beast upon the world.

Use anything and everything, for there was no limit. Carreana would induge in
this pursuit without a second thought.

The wrath of a woman who's pride has been scorn

The anger and rage flowed into Carreana upon hearing the pathetic dark elf
male Riazle had taken the mantle of Nightreaver. This worm dare take what
should have been hers? Where was he when she blazed the trail for the reavers
alone against all odds? Where was this sniveling whelp when the Spire sought
the shackle the world?

Did her unwavering faith in Father Morius scare Ergush? Was this an insult
intended towards her beloved Father? Did Ergush fear having a strong
independent female take the leads and instead think he could control the weak
willed Riazle easier? This must be the case, for there is no other answer.

Yet Carreana shall not let them see her gnash her teeth and weakened before
them. It would be too easy to give in and submit or to take her own life and
allow them victory. Instead, Carreana shall sow discord and strife among any
and all. She shall be there smiling at Riazle while plotting his death by a
thousand thorns. And to all else, she will ever tell them that she did not
wish to be shackled with authority of such a title, as she is already blessed
by Father. Let the weak willed have their little victory, for they are
nothing.

Chapter 19

Whispers in the darkness, temptation of the night

For some time now, Danssha has been a useful tool furthering the chaos and
destruction upon Thera. A word here, or a suggestion there and those in the
refuge who have crossed Carreana have fallen without it being traced back to
her. And with each interaction, Danssha has always pestered Carreana to
embrace the night and join that of Scion.

Such has crossed her mind before, yet she will not be tempted by the random
promises from just a member of such. If Danssha held any sort of power as
Chancellor or even Advisor she would perhaps take it more serious, for then
it would mean something. Or if it would mean being acknowledged as first
among the faithful of Morius, if such actions would please Father then
without a second thought she would do such.

There IS merit though behind the offer, and one she has been mulling over for
some time. For Danssha has whispered of ancient leviathans and primordial
beast which the scions have knowledge of that slumber yet. Could this be the
path which would lead her to the unleashing of such across Thera? To bring
destruction to the world and raze it to the ground, doing what those of the
Refuge stop just short of in the end? With such destruction and despair,
truly then mortals would look to Father Morius for salvation. And by his side
his most favored would be there to bask in his love and blessing.

There is much Carreana must ponder and consider.

Chapter 20

Flaws within the Refuge

First it has always been amusing to Carreana that there is even rules one
must follow within the group who shuns structure, order and well rules. It
has always been a thing of pride of the Refuge that they flaunt the laws of
society and civilization to show that they are free to do as they wish. So
long as it follows their own rules. Such delicious irony to Carreana, and
something which had lead to her to look further into her desires and studies.

The bark says to live in accordance to the lands way, which is dark and
savage. The wolf does not ask for permission to do as they wish, it takes.
The beast of the lands are pure and primal as they live by no rules of
society. Morals are a construct of the foolish, and the pure essence of one's
soul can be seen in them. They are truly loved and blessed by Father as they
are pure in Sin.

The next thing which the bark speaks of which Carreana has found laughable is
that the bark says endure not that which offends her. To be offended first
shows that you gave a bit of power of yourself to that which you are offended
by. You have given control of your own emotions to them and allow them to
manipulate your actions. Nature does not care for if it did it would strike
it down itself from the lands and purge it.

The main part of this which Carreana has researched is that of demonic
sorcery. It intrigued her as she has always been upon a quest to find ancient
beast of destruction which had either been banished or sealed away since
forgotten times. It had always been her goal to awaken these beast as they
would reign destruction across the lands and destroy civilization as we know
it. Only then should everyone be equal and there would be no social standings
nor morals. The age of Sin would reign and all the souls would turn to Father
with Carreana as his beloved High Priestess

Chapter 21

Flaws (continued) and Research into the Shadows

In her quest for such, Carreana was allowed access to the ancient Lyceum in
attempts to research such creatures. Strangely though it seemed as if someone
did not wish these ancient beast discovered nor known about as there was very
little in any way about such. In passing Carreana spoke with Danssha of such
and the dark lizard seem to know something of them. Danssha claims that such
beast had been banished to the shadow plane and it was there they slumbered
and awaited a time in which they could return. Danssha also spoke how those
of the Scions had made a pact with Nightwalkers which were the denizens of
the shadow plane.

Intrigued by such, Carreana once again returned to the Lyceum now with a clue
on how to find better information. It was within the ancient history where
the trail started, for she found the tales of the First Age. Carreana began
to read of how Thera was actually formed and how the two original ancients
had came from another realm and created this land. This made Carreana grin
from the start as this broke the dogma of the Refuge. For then EVERYTHING
created was un-natural and not from this plane. This world was created by two
ancient gods to be nothing but a play toy for them, and as they grew bored
with such abandoned it to the natural order of chaos.

Even within these ancient tales, demons and dark creatures were spoken of
commonly as they were created by the ancient original gods. So if such was
brought forth and created by them, then they too were just as natural as
anything else upon the world. So why would the Refuge lie and fear such? Why
would the Refuge hide the truth of this world and promise the return of
ancients yet never truly seeking such? More so, when you would actively seek
the total destruction as any good Reaver should, you would be pulled back and
chastised for such actions.

Research into the Shadows (continued)

Carreana however knows how the foolish Outlanders would refuse to believe
such simply based upon that, and once again dug into her research. For
another thing written upon the bark speaks of slavery and such is forbidden.
Carreana knew that even if they accepted demons and nightwalkers natural as
is written, they could then claim that they break such rules of the refuge as
slaves. The bark claims that conjurers are in fact slavers for they pull
forth extraplanar captives and bind them to their will. In this pure form,
Carreana would agree but could actually care less. Nowhere did it say however
that creatures from the other planes were abominations nor un-natural, only
that they were slaves to the conjurers whim. So this very thing admits that
devils and demons could be within this world and only because they are bound
should they be destroyed.

Carreana had exhausted much of her research within the Lyceum as they did not
have a lot upon Nightwalkers so she continued her search for such knowledge.
It was this which lead her to another great library, that of Ishuli's
library. Here Carreana found a treasure trove of research which filled her
lust and desires as there was a tome directly upon the Nightwalkers. It was
said that the nightwalkers in fact were not slaves, as a portal was made to
the shadow plane and allowed them access to this plane. They were free to act
as they wished and it was said would not stand to be around those who were
weak. So in fact they were NOT servants and more as allies for those who
opened the portals. No different in Carreanas eyes then the beast which the
Refuge called forth to die on their behalf. Carreana once again spoke with
Danssha who confirmed that she does not bind the nightwalkers and they are
free to rampage across the lands as they wished.

More so, it was also confirmed by the research that they came from the shadow
plane as has been whispered. So if the beings from the elemental planes were
accepted and protected from enslavement, then so to should the shadow plane.

Chapter 1

Mellisana Tal'athean

A beauty beyond compare, one that is often told of in epic tales by bards
around a hearth before a crowd. Yet Mellisana Tal'athean was one of these
legendary beauties, and there was no doubt that she fully knew it. Mellisana
was an elven maiden from a poor family, however with her exotic waif like
looks, she was sought by many outsiders throughout the lands to the dismay of
her family. Mellisana however saw this as a way out of her poor life, and
loved the attention which was given to her. It was a life of wealth and
comfort, one which she was able to indulge in and feel no regret.

Concubine, Courtesan, Lady of the evening, all names which Mellisana
fashioned herself as, yet the self righteous pious bastards would call her
harlot, proustite, whore. In truth, the words did not bother her as it was
those who were jealous of her looks and stature among her lover who kept her
well paid within a small house outside of town. When she would stroll through
town, Mellisana would revel in the lustful glares of the men, and the hateful
scowls of their wives.

Yet Mellisana would simply smile at them and give a wink, knowing that almost
all of them had approached her at one point or another attempting to buy a
night with her. Mellisana however was not a simple cheap whore, and beyond
that she was loyal to her lover who was a minor lord of the area. She would
never demean herself to the touch of these mere commoners, as she had to keep
herself in pristine shape. Plus they could never afford what it would cost to
be with someone like her.

Chapter 2

When the Dream becomes a Nightmare

When one is an elf, one does not have to worry about the hand of time
ravaging ones beauty. Yet Mellisana would soon find a fate far worse then
losing her looks. Never in all her years had she worried about becoming
pregnant, as it was said she could never conceive with a human. Yet here she
was, an ever so slight bump visible to her keen eyes. Panic at first set in,
for this life was all that she had ever known and what would happen to her if
she could no longer make her lord happy? But as she sat there and thought,
how could her lord NOT love her more so now that she was carrying his child?
This would be the thing which would bring them together and bind them, this
would be the event which he would public acknowledge her and they would live
a life together!

Ah the dreams. Dreams that would never come to pass and soon become a living
nightmare for Mellisana. As Mellisana approached her Lord with the news, she
was met with a backhand to her face. Falling to her knees in shock, he glared
down upon her and even spit in her face. Those names of whore which had only
been upon the lips of the commoners now rained down upon her ears. He accused
her of being unfaithful to him and spreading for any man who would pay
attention to her. He claimed that the child within her was no spawn of his,
and that he could never love such a monster that was not human. That she was
only a play toy to him and now his toy was broken.

And as a child does with all toys which are broken, he tossed Mellisana out
onto the streets. Stripped of everything, she was only allowed to leave with
the clothing upon her back. As she trudged through the streets of the town,
she was greeted by the smug looks of the pious bitches and sneers of the
bastards. Yet Mellisana stopped in the streets and held her head high, daring
to look everyone in the eye as they passed. They would not break her, they
would not stop her. For now she had a greater purpose in life.

Chapter 3

Unbroken

Upon being chased out of the village, Mellisana had attempted to return to
her own town which she had grown up. Though as she entered into the town, she
was met by the same glares that the humans had given her. However it was said
that she was unclean and impure to debase herself in the sins with humans.
That she dared muddy the pure noble elven blood with those beast which were
no better then monkeys. An offer was made to Mellisana that she would be
allowed to stay should she repent her sins and rededicate herself to the
light, and purge herself of the vile thing which grew within her. Disgusted
by those around her, she spit at their feet and turned around. Mellisana
would never return to her home, for she no longer had one if such was how her
society would treat her.

Mellisana traveled for a few months going where she could to earn a living,
yet in the end she was always chased out by the church of some self pious god
of light. Where was their compassion for those who were truly in need? Where
was their forgiveness when it actually mattered? If they would not help her,
then she would do everything in life herself! Never once would she beg or
plea for anything, and soon the day was upon her.

It was not as she pictured it, as she found herself in the back of a barn
surrounded by braying animals. Though that day she gave birth to the only
soul which she would ever bend her will for. A little raven haired girl which
looked up at her with loving eyes, as Mellisana named her Carreana Corbin.
Mellisana refused to give her the family name, and thought the sur name of
Corbin which had been the lord would forever mark him for what he had done.

Chapter 4

Never the same, yet we return to what we do best

Granted, Mellisana took some time to get herself back to where she was, yet
she would never be the same. The child like aura of her had been turned hard
and cold into a woman set upon a task in life. The primal task which all
chase, and that Is survival. And not only for survival for herself but now
for little Carreana.

And life with a small half-elven child was hard as she could never stay in
one location too long nor be too picky in the work she could acquire. Gone
was the luxury of one wealthy noble, at least if she wanted to eat and
provide for Carreana. Yet she knew it was merely only a means to an end,
where she could collect and save money to find themselves a small little
house in the outskirts of some remote town. Or so that was always the promise
and dream she told Carreana.

In Carreana's eyes however all she saw was a heroine of a woman before her,
as her mother would never be broken by the glares and words thrown upon her.
She would hold herself with grace and dignity and often cut them down with
her words and wit. The world looked at her mother and saw a blight upon
society, yet Carreana saw a goddess who could command the world.

Chapter 5

Pride

As Carreana grew into a young woman, she was a bit more exotic then her
mother in many ways. Her slightly pointed ears and almond shaped eyes clearly
marked her elven heritage, though unlike her mother she had a bit more
curves and dark raven hair with piercing blue eyes. And Mellisana always told
her to take pride in who and what she was, that she was a survivor and that
no one could ever take that away from her. That she would never have to bend
her knee to anyone and that the world was filled with lies and dreams.

Perhaps it was here that Carreana first began to see the hypocrisy of the
church and light, as all she ever saw from them was hatred and vile acts. In
the light of day they would scream their filth yet when night came they would
creep up to her mothers door and seek the very sins which they hated. And
when her mother would stand up to them and refuse to fall into line, they
were driven out as pariahs of society. So quickly those of love and faith
would seek to hammer all into conformity and compliance.

Her mother would simply collect what little possessions they had and leave as
they had done so many times before with their heads held high. Refusing to
allow their pathetic morals shame her into thinking what she did was wrong.
It gave her power, power that others feared for she would never break before
them. And in her shadow little Carreana walked with her own little head held
high, a smile upon her face and pride within her eyes for her mother.

Chapter 6

The love of a mother (part I)

Mellisana found it a shock when it happened, even though she had been
preparing herself for the day when it would arrive. As she negotiated with a
potential Lord, she caught him leering at Carreana as she sat quietly in the
corner. Arching her eyebrow, Mellisana asked the Lord if there was a problem
with her daughter. A perverted grin spread across his face and the offer of
an outstanding amount was proposed if she allowed him a night with Carreana.

Granted Carreana was a young woman by all human rights, yet this was her
little girl! How dare this pig not only insult Mellisana's beauty by wanting
another, but to even suggest her giving up her daughter! Slapping the Lord
across the face, she rebuked him for such an outlandish proposal. Growing in
anger, the Lord charged at Mellisana and only came up short as he noticed her
holding a dagger towards his crotch. How DARE this whore threaten him! How
dare she subvert this poor poor little child to such deviant ways! Having
enough of this fool, Mellisana gathered her things and Carreana and began the
process of yet again moving on to a new town.

Chapter 7

The love of a mother (part II)

As they approached the edge of town, the towns Tribunal officers came chasing
after her ordering her to stop. Having no fear of doing anything wrong,
Mellisana complied with such orders, for the officers would clearly aid them
in any way possible. Yet as the guards parted, out stepped the little Lord
which she had rebuked hours earlier. Face red in anger and now a small
scratch upon his cheek, he bellowed how she had robbed and attacked him! How
she was corrupting her poor daughter and sought to sell her anyway she could.

Carreana standing off to the side saw a small pouch being given to the guards
from the Lord, and then a curt nod given as the smile spread across their
faces. The guards ordered that they were to take custody of young Carreana
and would place her in the care of the holy lord for the safety of her own
soul. As the fat little Lord snatched ahold of Carreanas hand, the glint of a
knife flashed out and imbedded itself into the crotch of the Lord. As he
crumbled to the floor, the guards turned and struck out at Mellisana. It was
as if the world had slowed down as Carreana watched her mother fall to the
ground within a puddle of blood. Reaching out to her mother, she was snatched
back by one of the guards who clamped onto her with an iron grip. Screaming
out her name, he mother appeared to try to get up to her hands and knees to
reach out trying to claw at the other guard. Cursing at Mellisana, the guard
placed a single solid blow to the neck of her mother. Wailing out a blood
curdling scream, Carreana bit down upon the hand of the guard which held her
causing him to let go. The other guard seeing this swung his blade around
towards Carreana's head, yet the last act of Mellisana grip kept him from
fully connecting his strike. Instead of a blow which would have taken her
head, it merely grazed her head cutting off the tip of her left ear. A small
whisper from her mother found the ears of Carreana, as she simply told her to
'run'.

Chapter 8

An orphan to society

Carreana did not know how long she ran through the wilds, nor even where she
ran to. But she ran until her legs gave out in fatigue. The sound of pursuit
had died out an hour or so ago, and she did not think they would bother to
chase after one young woman. Yet Carreana hid herself away in the underbrush
and refused to make a fire out of fear of being found. It was perhaps the
longest coldest night of her life.

There was no sleep as the images of her mother filled her vision every time
she closed her eyes. She was sickened by the world around her. While she had
grown up surrounded by lust and every other sin imaginable, they were proud
people who knew who they were. They were survivors who embraced life like her
mother.'Yet those who had taken everything from her were false and fake,
seeking to live a lie. They feared to embrace what they wanted, and instead
imposed their will and morals upon everyone else.

Reaching up Carreana touched the tip of her left ear and only felt the crusty
scab which had begun to form where the tip had once been. Anger filled her,
as the sadness turned to rage at what had been done not only to her but her
mother. These pious bastards who thought they were the saviors of society,
would one day know the truth of this world. They wished to break her and
destroy her mothers legacy? To mark her as a pariah and call her a daughter
of a whore? Let them. Carreana vowed to rip every stone from society and lay
it bare to the truth of how everyone has a sin in their heart. A sin which
they are afraid to look upon because they may enjoy it and learn to know the
truth. Only when society has been destroyed shall the imposed morals crumble.
She shall never bend a knee to anyone, and shall never be subservant to any
mortal. She is the one in control of what she chooses. And she is the one who
shall break the world.
