Description

At what looks to be nearly eight feet in height, this may be the tallest
Arial you have ever seen. That being said, his lithe, dark-feathered form is
hunched at his shoulders as it appears he tries to take up as little space
as possible. His wings are tipped by feathers of burgundy, also seen on the
crest above his steely eyes. The talons and claws are the same glossy rose
as his falcon-like beak. Simple, tight-fitting leathers hug close to his
body and he absently holds a dagger at the ready.

Day 12

Normally I wouldn't report on yet another roadside encounter. Not one, but
three of our wagons had strangely similar damage on their wheels. Taking the
time to repair them, we set up camp near the bottom of the canyon, not far
from the trolls.

Soon after, a birdie approached -- the tallest I've seen -- and started
hitting us all up for coin. The usual bits of fortune telling and story time
for the young ones. He was not only awful, but I'd wager my mother's cooshee
that this very same birdie had sabotaged our wagons.

All that being said, I don't request, nor recommend, that this birdie be
punished. In fact, I suggest that any and all reading this seek out this ...
Zik, er, Zeek. Hells, just look for the big birdie. It might be just a
feeling, but I feel it's worth your time.

It would generally be agreed by all that the show was kind of rough.
Several people walked away before the end. I stayed, as I was the first one
in the spot to sit and relax so why should I be the one to move. Well, one of
the children sat next to me, Anders the blacksmith's son. The little boy
that never speaks.

As the torches were lit and the miserable makeshift for a curtain strung
between them, the kid's focus narrowed. As the birdie put on his show, the
child began to talk. In full sentences. He called me by name and I had no
idea he even knew what my name was. He was engaged in the show at one point
commenting to me that if there is a dragon then there will be fire. And there
was fire. He talked all throughout the show. When the big birdie took his bow
to a small group of stragglers the child quit talking and returned to his
world.

So, yes, I could list all the little things that were obvious parlor tricks
or ways to convince one to part with one's possessions, but that is not what
this show is about. And that little boy certainly didnt see those things as
he sat talking in the dark, watching a too-tall frame for feathers with a
a name I neither remember nor care about.

My purse is lighter by a copper or three but I'd pay the price a thousand
fold for what I saw. It wasn't what I expected, definitely wasn't what I paid
for, but somehow, I got a bargain. Hope we run into wagon trouble again.
