Description

Tall and gaunt, this thin man easily tops six and a half feet.
His weathered skin is covered with what look to be small burn
marks, and other various scars. Dark black hair hangs in a
long braid almost to his waist. His left ear comes to a moderately
sever point, while his right, seems to have been mutilated
in some fashion. The one pointed ear though, speaks to perhaps
a mixed heritage of some form. His armor is worn, but well
taken care of. Not overly bright, but shining none the less.
As you look more closely you are able to see that....

Roleplay summary

Dedicated: Only the most kind of hearts can be broken so completly to
become a Dedicated. Chosen specially. But there is a legend, of one
that may come. Whose heart is so pure, who's understanding of what is
right is so inate, that he will overcome this training. Alithar is
the first to do so. The legend seems to be born. His parents ghosts
have not visited him since that day... But perhaps one again when the
time is right they will.

Sphere Reason: Given to the way of Einoh, Alithar will use his training
turning it against the very ideals that it grew from. He will look to
bring wicked down, to break the very places that they fester in. While
there is no direct link from the Dedicated to the Empire, they seem the
closest to it. He will seek Einoh to further his understanding of the
faith and learn the things that his parents would have taught him, had
the Dedicated not come.

Guild: His spirit was touched when his parents saved him. He grew past
the soley martial training of his time with the Dedicated. He seeks
the path of the Champion. Swords and maces being the most used weapon
of the Dedicatated, he has sought to separate himself from that part of
his past, taking up a new way of battle.

Cabal: A follower of Einoh, Alithar has heard that his Lord has come to
the Fortress to lead the Brigade from the Heavens. As such he has sought
to learn more of this place. As he has learned more, he has found himself
seeking to join the Brigade.

Chapter 3

Saved.

Four woke, his neck hurt, his body hurt, his soul ached.

"Alithar...." he whispered.

"Oh no boy, that name will not be spoken here." The Master took the
flail from the fire and lashed out with it. Tips hitting his skin
Alithar flinched, but did not cry out. "Four, Say it boy, I've never
lost a boy, and it won't start now."

"ALITHAR!" He yelled.

The master took the knife from the fire this time, grabbing the tip
of his right ear, he began to saw at the tip.

"A L I T H A R!" came the long scream.

Two apparitions appeared then, floating up behind the master, one
female, the other male. A glimmer of recognition fell over Alithar's
face as the first male apparition reached out, its hand passing through
the Master's back. As the hand stopped, the Master became rigid, his
eyes bulging, turning red, as though filling with blood.

The female apparition moved forward then, her ghostly hand grasping the
chains at Alithar's wrist. The chains turned cold then, deadly cold,
and then burst into millions of pieces.

"Go son, we know your heart, you have found your way back to us. Let
reason guide you. Our Lord waits for you. Our love will guide you,
but your heart knows. You were able to break your training because you
know that at any cost, even our own lives, we must do what is good.

Chapter 2

The Final Test.

The memories of his life in the village had almost faded. Almost....

Four stood there, stock still, back rigid facing the council. His
eyes staring front. Two figures knelt between him and the great table,
with hoods over their heads.

"The time has come four." said the master of blades. "The end of your
training. Before you, are your final tests. You have only one more
test. Slay them...."

Four stepped forward as one of the Dedicated held out a blade to him.
Grasping the hilt he raised it high.

"WAIT!" came the command "Dedicated, remove the hoods." said the Master.

Stepping forward, the Dedicated moved between the two figures and with
a sharp jerk from each hand, removed both hoods. The figured blinked
at the sudden light. Four flinched then, a small recognition hitting
his face. His parents....

"NOW!" screamed the Master. "Complete your training."

Four's heart burst then. He could not believe what was presented him.
His parents, he long thought them dead... Here before him.

"FOUR, COMPLETE YOUR TRAINING!" screamed the Master, just as he finished
his scream, a second dedicated steped forward behind Four, and a whip
cracked out. Four flinched but did not make a sound. The sword swung
then, just as it came close to falling upon the neck of his father, Four
turned it then, straight into the gut of the Dedicated standing between his
parents. The man gurgled as he fell.

The whip flew out from behind, snaking around Fours neck, chocking him.
The last thing he saw as the black overcame him was two Dedicated steping
forward pushin swords through the backs of his parents.

Chapter 1

The Kindest Heart.

The smoke from the burning buildings stung Alithars eyes. He stood
next to his parents in a line of villagers. Men stood before him,
strange men. Between them a line of corpses. Every man between
the agest of fifteen and thirty five dead in various ways. Some slain
by sorcery, some by dastardly prayers, yet the most, by the blade.

Alithars father was older, much older, had married his wife much later
in life, and for this reason, he was left alive after the initial
assault. One man, the only not wearing a full helm and face shield
walked down the line, eyeing each of the children. He would reach out
and touch their hair, or their cheek. He would say a small prayer at
each child. When something signaled in his prayer, he would raise
his hand and a masked man would come forward and pick up the child,
slinging it over his shoulder. Two others would grab the parents roughly
and push the off behind the burning buildings.

"Its always the kindest ones, that make the best Dedicated." whispered
the man as he made his way past Alithar, "Four this trip, I am impressed.
Welcome Four." He said to Alithar as the masked man lifted Alithar over
his shoulder.

Alithar Screamed then, as did his parents. It was a scream of anguish
of total loss. He beat his hands against the back of the man who carried
him. Easily ignored, the blows fell until Four ran out of strength and
slumped over the mans shoulder, limp.

"Yes. Four, a good number." The Man said as he waived dismissively at
the remaining families, and the masked men fell upon them in a fury. None
was left alive.
