Pteric the Grand Master of Changelings

Description

An extremly tiny gnome with a bulbous potato nose and
bright blue eyes that seem to flick everywhere at once as if
he is full of energy. Curly dirty brown hair hangs three
feet past him on the ground with twigs and berries and a small
sappling growing in the middle. The robes of a shapeshifter
are sewn to tiny proportions about his tiny body. His ears seem
to randomly come to a point and twitch before returning to
normal.

He seems to be a most slovenly creature happy to thrive
in his own filth. He smiles brightly as his teeth sharpen
momentarily before reverting to innocence.

Negative Magics

Having finally come to some answers and more questions after meeting his
beginning and end the Lady Aylosi. She advised to look to the Negative
Magics that dwell within. A phylactery was his beginning and that Pteric
needed to study and research. He has found two practicioners of the art one
comfirmed that negative energies resonated from me. The other has been set
about researching phylacteries as that is more their realm of study.

He has begun to research the negative planes himself seeking out portals to
the Negative Plane hidden within the realms. He seeks to please his Dark
Goddess and discover the secrets within his past and origin. Hoping to
discover a way to break the block on his magic that holds it so defensive, to
once again have the freedom to adapt.

Chapter 3

Ponderances.

Pteric who had no family name set out knowing only that chaos and magic
churned within him and he needed to find answers. He was no gnome that was
for certain though he knew not what he was. The breaking and perverting of
his magic affected his growth in the guild defensive magics were all that
emerged, but he did find others who ponder the mysteries of Entropy and
Magic.

Pteric will seek out Aylosi to delve the deeper aspects of the things he
holds dear Chaos and Magic. The thoughts of Spirit guide him because he
wonders if he even has one being born from Magic. Is he really just a
manifestation of the lost soul of the phylactery.

Chapter 2

His Upbringing.

The two Magi kick the elf out of the way and walk over to the baby looking
dubious. The dark-elf says this is what our months of preparation and work
got us is a squalling brat? The gnome being more wise says I believe this is
a true gift from the Fae-witch.We must watch him and see how he grows. We
shall name him Pteric and give him to some gnomes to raise.

Pteric was raised in Galadon showing a strong affinity for shapeshifting his
body partially becoming animals all the time. His eyes shifting feral to
pierce the night. Growing gills if he swam. He adapted to his enviroment
easily to overcome obsticles. As he got a bit older his "Uncles" would come
to visit and perform tests on him. The tests grew progressively more painful
trying to force him to adapt to it. Over time this perverted his magic
forcing him to always be ready for pain instead of being able to flow freely
as he once did.

Pteric began to question who his uncles were and who his parents were. His
uncles did not like this line of questioning and beat him mercilessly, when
quills burst from his skin in every direction pinning his uncles to the walls
in multiple places. His hide like skin rippling over the wounds like water
as he walked up to his so called uncles and began questioning them intently.
Learning they were from the Cult of the Fae-Witch and about his strange
beginnings.

Chapter 1

The Ritual.

Two Magi drag a third Magi through the Haunted woods of outlaws and chaos to
a clearing. They gather magical paraphanelia in preparation for a ritual of
great power. They are all hooded but one is most definately a gnome. He
asks his fellow conspirator if they had gathered the phylactery to add spirit
and soul to the Magic. One of the others waves away the question with the
long slender fingered hand of a drow. The gnome reminds them that the chaos
magic they are about to perform in the name of Aylosi the Fae Witch is
unfounded and untested.Touching on the realms of vivimancy and necromancy.

The words make the third fellow start to scream through a gag and begin to
really struggle for the first time. The dark-elf walks over to him and pulls
back his hood to reveal an elven lawman they had kidnapped. You my pet we
need to channel true magic through you to use you as a filter for the Order
magic. I doubt you will survive but that is of little consequence we will
raise your lifeless corpse to serve after. The dark-elf waves his hand over
the elves face as he goes slack.

The gnome grows in size until he matches the dark-elf and they stand on
either side of the elf chanting as a cauldron bubbles nearby. They raise
their arms into the sky as their voices rise in crescendo. A violet pillar
of magic erupts from the sky into the elves body as it raises into the air
spinning. Two red arcs sparking with black lightning leap from the elf into
the two Magi. They begin to shake as they channel the raw energy into the
cauldron where the phylactery and magical ingredients begin to flicker and
blur into a nonsensical display of things. A candle, a pile of dung, a hat,
a cloud, before settling on the smallest of creatures even smaller than a
gnome but of similar shape and build. It lets out a piteous cry as if it is
hungry.
