Description

You see before you a human that could only be described as
eccentric. Standing about 6 feet with muscled shoulders and
a lot of meat on the bone, she could have been imposing for a
human, but her warm face and welcoming disposition send a
different signal. Her odor is pleasant and her sun darkened
skin appears to be kept clean, so you have trouble discerning
why her bright red hair looks as though it has not seen a comb
in ages. Her crystalline blue eyes also seem to blaze with an
intensity to match the color of her hair.

Her clothes speak of a simple life. They look built for
travel and anything but extravagant. Her boots make little
noise as she walks and now that you notice it, nothing about
her clinks or clatters. Perhaps the most remarkable thing
about this human is the subtle sense of assuredness that
accompanies everything she does.

Reflections on Meter

Relia is very excited to be chosen for the position of Meter, perhaps
as much due to the vote of confidence from her brothers and sisters
of the Isle as to her increased ability to strengthen the Isle. It
has however given her cause to reflect upon the direction she would
take the Isle.

All in all, she feels the Seekers have charted a fine course for
themselves. They most certainly need to continue to growth and
strengthen as the other powers that be can get quite unruly at times.
Perhaps in addition to that though, the biggest thing she wants her
fellow Seekers to understand is that the preservation of the Balance
goes well beyond any one of us.

Far too often in our sworn duty it is easy to develop grudges as we
must sometimes burn bridges with those we would call friends. It
is imperative that those grudges, just like our friendships, don't
ever come to outweigh our judgement in what is best for the Balance.

Relia has looked to courage as her totem all her life and would have
it no other way. However, as she reflects upon this she realizes
that courage does not always mean to stand and fight. If a force
that is not in power seeks Relia's blood, it will take far more
courage to make the choice to withdraw from the fight, to place
the needs of Balance over the frustrations of the self.

Some will struggle to learn this lesson, seeing it as weakness,
but Relia sees only strength in putting the Balance and the Isle
before herself.

Fortunes

After much deliberation, Relia has decided to use a simple coin
as her totem. It is such a simple things really, that the revelation
of it left her near breathless for a time.

A coin is the purest representation of fortune, so many choices made
and bets placed on the simple result of a coin toss. People see
the results of such and curse or praise their fortunes, never realizing
that even in that, their fortunes were surrounded by free choice.

They chose to make wagers or place their fates in the hands of
chance, they even chose what side of the coin to side with. Through
it all, while fortunes will most certainly influence our lives, we
must never forget that it is our choices that define us. This coin
will serve Relia as a reminder of that principle, and as a reminder
of why she fights to allow all to embrace their own choices.

Lord Whiysdan's Task

If Relia had one thing in abundance from her time as a great oak,
it was time to consider and reflect. Once, years ago the
Lord Whiysdan asked her to bring him one thing that best
represented who she was, and she's never forgotten that task.

Although she struggled with the task for some time, it was
more a reflection on her own lack of confidence. Relia has
put that aside now, and has embraced the path of Balance that
she started down years ago. She will be a fighter for free
will and a champion of choice, not just for some, but for all.

With this in mind, she will seek out an item that resonates
free will and choice at its very core.

Chapter 5

The Life of a Tree

Relia's passion for the world at large was bound to get her
into trouble sooner or later. She heard rumors from a merchant
of a tree that could stop a person from aging, simply by
dripping a few drops of your blood at it's base. Well, being
more than a little vain to begin with, this was soemthing
that Relia had to see!

With much searching, she found the tree deep in the Hardan
woods, performed the basic ritual and....much to her freight
found that it had worked, in a fashion. It seems the enchantment
was such that it turned her into an ageless tree herself, but
unlike her own communes to do such, she had no means to turn
back to herself.

After what seemed ages, she finally found herself back in her
old body, but at least she'd not aged a day! The best that
she can surmise is that it is a curse that must pass from one
to another, and that some other poor soul had gone seeking the
same promise of youth she herself had.

Adventures

Relia had some grand adventures seeing the world with her exotic
trade merchant mentor. A few of the more notable ventures include:

-- Trekking across the wastes of Nonveil in search of a cup that
never goes empty (stumbled upon in a cave within the sandstorm)
-- Sailing the high seas (Western Aryth) in search of a chest that
turned any metal to gold (never found)
-- Scouring the underdark for a sword that was rumored to be lighter
than a feather (found lodged between two plates of a cavefisher)

Personality

Courage. Looking back on all of her adventures, Relia has a
deep appreciation that it was her courage that made any of it
possible. Without courage, she would still be eeking out an
existance with the other orphans in Balator. She loves the
freedom she has created for herself and desires that others have
the same opportunity.

Relia seeks out the Nexuns as her new home. Outwardly she wants
to defend those who would be oppresed by powers greater than
their own so that no one is denied that freedom of choice.
Inwardly, she always has a soft spot for the underdog in any
fight and seeks the fight against unbalanced odds because that
is the fight she has taken on her entire life.

Wonders

Relia had many grand adventures in her journey to see the world.
She signed on with an exotic goods merchant and traveled to
fantastic places in the pursuit of the most exquisite wonders
of the known world. Forests, mountains, plains, deserts, and
oceans. Relia loved the trade but she came to understand that
the journeys were the most awe inspiring part of the business.

They collected exotic gems, magical relics, cultural symbols,
and good ole fashioned gold. Relia treasured the discoveries
but she also discovered the stories were worth more than the
treasures.

Background

Relia never knew her parents. Her earliest memories come from
an orphanage in Balator and even those she just remembers as
dark days better left forgotten. Abused, neglected, and otherwise
disregarded, Relia always had grander schemes than what her initial
circumstances would allow. Saving up what meager belongings she
could, she packed up and slipped out in the night on the day of her
eleventh birthday.

After weeks of wandering she ended up in the Holy Grove, where she
met an old Druid who began her education in the wonders of the
world, and better yet how to find sustenance in any walk of life.

Mesmerized by what she learned, Relia began to understand the
temptations that the untapped world had yet to offer, and set off
once again to create her own adventures.
