Description

Before you appears a dark, lithe figure, standing at just over six feet in
height. He has a full shaggy mane of thick black hair that messily cascades
down over a set of piercing, cold eyes. A slight sneer has formed with a set
of thin, colorless lips below a long pointed nose. You notice his garments
and armaments are extremely well kept and appear to be a collection of light,
costly materials that move fluidly with his silent motions.

Disrespect and options of grandeur

Much has changed in the years since I graced these pages with my thoughts. My
status as a Magistrate, however, is not one of them. Where are the bounds to
which I owe the spire for pulling me from the muck and nothingness of the
streets? How far does my obligation take me? Is my entire identity bound up
within this badge that I still wear, unchanged?


All these questions pour through my mind as my service goes unnoticed. The
undead Provost has abandoned the spire to chase his own whims, and offered me
a place of power at his side. Do I leave this thankless spire, which has
scorned me for so long, to grasp at more, and more, and more? I certainly am
tempted. I am not one born to be satisfied with this lowly station. I will
always want more. At least more than this.


On top of this, Aztezul revealed, whether true or not, that Ishuli will not
grant me the office of Vindicator ever during my lifetime, for following my
duty to Provost and to the Spire, and for laying my life on the line to wage
her wars against the savage and fearsome BattleRager threat. If what the
Mummy says is true, she has protected her brutish priest Tohrak against this
fate so that he may hold may office, but to worthless, pathetic Jaco, who so
often alone holds the watch now after the Mummy's betrayal, who so often
alone retrieves the Scales against multiple foes who consistently strip him
of all his covetous trinkets that he, more than most, covets with greedy
appetite.. to this worthless worm of a Magistrate, she apparently gives no
warning not to raid the Ragers lest he lose his spot as a Vindicator. While
it is true that the Mummy could lie, the possibility of truth makes my blood
boil and seethe with rage.


While my mind mused over my position and opportunities, I was granted the
possibility of commanding the Shadow Sect of the Empire as their Shadow Lord
- an office truly worthy of me and my skills. All this was evidence of the
rest of Thera growing to fear and respect my reputation, and yet the Spire
sees nothing. Ishuli upon meeting me had only comments of my lighthearted
demeanor and words that jest. As though the coping mechanism for my blatant
disrespected status was all she had noticed. This was an obvious sign of the
way the spire had come to sneer and spit upon me.


Still, the Provost is quite attractive and the power of women is a great
thing indeed (This is not actually a factor, but anyone reading this upon
publication will appreciate a love story I am sure).


Nonetheless, despite every reason to leave and dwindling reasons to stay with
the Spire, it is true my identity has become entwined with that of my badge.
I have not known a successful life, relatively unfulfilled though it be,
outside of the Spire. I shall remain with the cause of Order and Law, but
mark my words.. I have been pushed to the brink and turned back, but the
slope is slippery and I might not return if pushed again.

First Musings of the Future Vindicator

As it becomes ever more apparent to me of the magnitude of influence my
singular life will have on all of Thera, both now and for the rest of time in
historical archives, I am deeming it wise to record in detail my
accomplishments, musings, lessons learned, wisdom gleaned etc, both from my
past until now and in future writings as I continue to carve my mark on the
fabric of history.


I truly am blessed to have been born in the squalid filth of the life of a
Galadonian pauper, for truly it has done nothing but grant my already
inherently heroic spirit a clearer appreciated for how high I have ascended.
As I write this, I gaze from the shadows of the formal Galadon dojo on whose
doorstep I begged for scraps of food and learning from the sensei in my
youth. Now it serves as my perch as I gaze over the city that is mine to
guard, protect, and ruthlessly judge for an orderly and strong civilization
that I am a large part of maintaining.


Even now, I wonder whether it merely good fortune or perhaps intervention of
some benevolent deity who foresaw great potential in me. Regardless, fate led
me to earn the Magistrate badge truly fresh out of the academy when my hopes
and dreams up to that point had been servitude in the ranks of Imperial
spies, hoping to claw and scrape to higher levels of status that I craved.
How foolish and quaint these lesser cravings seem to me now that I have
tasted true order and power which we, the Blood Tribunal, enforce with an
iron fist against all who would oppose true order.


Though I have quickly risen to guard and maintain the most powerful of our
four great cities and have become a feared and mysterious legend in the mind
of the lawless through my shadowed deadliness, I still have that unending
craving as I did in my youth. I would say my cravings have become refined in
my increased age and experience, but I know very well that may be far from
the truth
time I pry a finer trinket from the corpse of a slain enemy and adorn it on
my body, I only seek it ever that much more. My next immediate goal which I
grow ever more thirsty, is the badge worn by the true hunters of the lawless
- The Vindicators. Once earned, order will flow ever more fervently through
my hands, and I will be the perfect tool of justice and might as I will
appear evermore in the hushed, worried whispers of my enemies, and any who
are deemed worthy to gaze upon me in the open will be awestruck with the
trinkets and armaments from the savages I will slay.


P.S.
Though I assume I will be recommended from the spot, for I am by far the most
worthy (and this indeed will please me), what I truly long for in the
Vindicator position will hopefully be an easier transition from this
heightened spot in power.
