Fimbledin the Kingpin
DescriptionThe jolly looking fellow before you is short even by gnome standards. He is just a bit on the pudgy side, but still looks to be quite nimble. Fluffy brown mutton chops trail down the sides of his face in a vain attempt to cover his chubby cheeks, and the chestnut brown shock of hair on his head is wild and unkempt. He has a kind smile and his bright brown eyes glitter with excitement, and just a teeny tiny bit of mischevoiusness.

65182, Fimbledin's Role Chapter 1
Posted by Death_Angel on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
RoleChapter 1 Life on the Road Added Sat Dec 7 14:53:45 2019 at level 21:Fimbledin was born in the city of Hillcrest, but he spent most of his formative years on the road with his thespian parents. His mother and father, whom he loved very much, were renowned actors throughout Thera and demand for their performances took them from the regal audience chamber of the Empress of Seantryn Modan to the boisterous stage of the Eternal Star and every performance hall in between.
Fimbledin, because of his life on the road, did not have a traditional education growing up. However, he was a natural performer after observing his parents on stage for many years. He never made friends in Hillcrest because of his constant absence, but because he was left on his own a lot he developed friendships where he could at their various stops on the road. That being said, the groups and individuals that hung around tavern halls and public houses were probably not the best influence on a young impressionable gnome. He ran with the nomad children in Hamsah Mutazz when they swarmed unsuspecting travelers and lifted their jewelry, he wandered the Voralian docks and cracked open unwatched crates and pilfered their contents with the other young vagrants, and in Galadon he put his burgeoning acting skills to use when the local riffraff encouraged him to dress up and act like human boy because he'd earn more sympathy coppers if the residents of the city thought he was a 4 year old. And that was pretty much his life until his parents were killed.

65183, Fimbledin's Role Chapter 2
Posted by Death_Angel on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
RoleChapter 2 The Death of His Parents Added Sat Dec 7 14:59:20 2019 at level 21:Fimbledin's parents weren't killed by any dramatic event. There was no crazy wizard that killed them in a fireball accident or some deranged reaver who mistook them for dwarves.
Fimbledin's parents had just finished a 7 night engagement at the Inn of the Eternal Star where they performed their original comedic musical "Twist and Shout", a hilarious story about Twist, the god of magic, who stomps angrily around Thera looking for his lost barrier wands. The show was an enormous success with a packed house every night, and promises were made that they'd return for an encore performance in a fortnight. Fimbledin and his parents left the inn in a small mule drawn cart and headed down Sumner's road toward the crossroad where they'd take the North road back up towards Hillcrest. However, when they turned north onto the road their cart overturned when it ran over a pair of clay shin guards that someone carelessly left in the road.
Fimbledin survived the crash but his parents were killed instantly when the cart fell on top of them. And with that, Fimbledin was taken back to Hillcrest by an uncle that he barely knew, but a gnome his parents spoke highly of and they always wrote him letters while on their travels.

65184, Fimbledin's Role Chapter 3
Posted by Death_Angel on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
RoleChapter 3 Fimbledin's Mission Added Sat Dec 7 15:02:45 2019 at level 21:Fimbledin was incredibly distraught when he returned to Hillcrest. His uncle, who had always been a bit of a mystery, tried his best to welcome him to Hillcrest but he could tell that this was a strange land to his nephew and he was not adapting well and this became very obvious when Fimbledin started acting out. He started stealing and vandalizing and at first the citizens were forgiving because they knew that he was reacting to the death of parents, but after awhile they stopped making excuses and demanded the governor and councilors to do something about the Fimbledin Menace.
A few weeks after the complaints started Fimbledin's uncle rousted him from bed in the early morning. He marched him towards the governor's office and presented Fimbledin to the city officials.
"Here he is as you've requested," Fimbledin's uncle said as he gently pushed the young gnome towards the serious looking gnomes sitting behind a long table. Fimbledin took his seat across from them.
Governor Holtag lowered his spectacles and looked him up and down for a moment. He then sighed and turned towards Fimbledin's uncle, "Well we're in a bit of a predicament, but we're desperate. Do you think he's ready?"

65185, Fimbledin's Role Chapter 4
Posted by Death_Angel on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
RoleChapter 4 Fimbledin's Mission part 2 Added Sat Dec 7 15:12:10 2019 at level 21:His uncle responded, "I think he's as ready as he'll ever be, and he's smart! I think he'll pick it up quick."
Fimbledin was a bit angry and very confused. He didn't know why he was dragged out of bed at such an early hour, and now a bunch of old gnomes were speaking about him in a confusing way. He shouted at all of them, "Tell me what you want from me!"
Fimbledin's uncle was about to chastise him for his outburst, but Governor Holtag put up a hand to stop him. "Young Fimbledin," he said quietly, "do you know how important your parents were to Hillcrest?"
Fimbledin shrugged impatiently, "They were famous actors and singers. Culturally important I suppose."
"Fimbledin, your parents were Hillcrest's greatest spies," he then paused a moment while he waited for Fimbledin's laughter to die down, "I do not jest. They traveled the lands undercover as performers and reported back to Hillcrest through letters to the Hillcrest Spymaster, your uncle."
Fimbledin was shocked, "But what does that have to do with me!?"
"With the death of your parents we need more spies,"his uncle explained, "Gnomes don't leave Hillcrest often, we like the safety of being with our kind out in the remote north, but we gnomes are an important part of Thera and we need to know what's happening at all times! We need to know who runs the Village, who the Emperor favors, what's with the re-opening of the Chasm south of Hamsah?! We need to know!"

65186, Fimbledin's Role Chapter 5
Posted by Death_Angel on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
RoleChapter 5 Fimbledin's Mission part 3 Added Sat Dec 7 15:23:43 2019 at level 21:"And you want me to be this spy? Like my parents?" Fimbledin was very intrigued by this prospect as he saw this as a way to honor the love he had for his now deceased parents, "But I'm a terrible actor compared to them. I'll never be able to do what they did!"
Fimbledin's uncle waved his hand dismissively, "We have another cover story for you that we think will work out quite well. You've developed a skill set from your travels that we think will be quite beneficial."
Fimbledin was curious, "Well what is it?" "We're kicking you out of Hillcrest for being a sticky fingered thief. You're not welcome back here! You'll have to find your way out in the world on your own!"
Fimbledin cried out, "What is this? My parents just died, and now you're kicking me out of my home which I barely even know! You get my hopes up of following in my parents footsteps and now you're kicking me out of town? What game are you playing?!"
The governor had a twinkle in his eye and his uncle chortled loudly, "That's your cover! A petulant little thief who was kicked out of Hillcrest. Never to return."
Fimbledin considered this. Hillcrest had never really been his home, but he always felt a loyalty toward his kin. Furthermore, if his loving parents saw it fit to do this duty then Fimbledin was more than willing.
Holtag continued, "Basically we'd like you to be seen as an exile from Hillcrest due to your thievery. You'll make regular reports to your uncle, but you'll need to find a courrier, but you'll figure out something on your own. But you can' t blow your cover by returning to Hillcrest."
His uncle added, "You may want to alter your personality as well. You're somewhat of a dour gnome, and that just doesn't work for this job." To which Fimbledin raised his eyebrows quizzically.
"Well, I should say, dour by outsider standards," Holtag said exhaustedly. "For whatever reason outsiders don't take us too seriously. They see these small gnomes and they think we're....," and then Holtag spat our the last word derisively, "Cute!"
"Cute?!" exclaimed Fimbledin throwing his tiny child sized hands into the air, "That's insane! We're proud and wise gnomes who live hundreds of years! CUTE?!?"
His uncle nodded solemnly, "Yes, a mighty shame, but we will use that to our advantage. If you give them what they expect, a cutesy little gnome that wanders through life with reckless childlike abandon, they will never suspect you of anything more."
"I think I can pull that off," Fimbledin said after giving it some thought, "I will do my parents and the gnomes proud!"
Holtag, the councilors, and his uncle leaped from their stools and started bouncing around with glee, and it was the cutest thing you ever did see.
