Description

Standing here is a beast of dark origin. With a face
of a bovine and the body of a man he invokes both
fear and disgust in the eyes of the modern Theran.
At an imposing ten feet in height this monstrosity
appears to be impossible to move against his will
courtesy of two large, cloven hooves. These hooves
are as black as the thick fur that covers most of
his body and have been shined like a pair of leather
boots. With an elongated snout, large flat nose and
bulging, lifeless black eyes he appears emotionless
as he studies his surroundings. The most menacing
aspect of this minotaur are the horns which adorn
his head. Each stretches out for two feet in either
direction before upturning into a dangerous and
sharp point. The horns are all black with the
exception of the points which are a cloudy shade of
white. He is wearing various armor and expensive red
robes which seem sacerdotal in nature.

Psychological profile:

-Grauk was born of evil magic and his complete lack of normal
human emotion reflects this. He is a cruel and calculating
beast with no moral objection to slavery and authoritarian
government.

-He is governed by the sphere of Purity and his single-minded
purpose is an example of this. He desires only to please his
Empress and further the goals of the South. He believes that
the Law is essential in this and that by becoming Provost he
can protect the South from all enemies foreign and native.

-He worships Lady Ishuli and takes his membership in the Priest-
hood of the Southern Winds seriously. He desires to expand his
knowledge of cultures and bring some of the values of the South
to the Spire in order to better serve both his Goddess and his
Empress.

-He does not trust the Empire but will work with them as he views
the Imperials as allies in the war against the chaos. With that
being said he will monitor them closely to insure that their
influence is not encroaching on his homeland.

-He is far more intelligent than his bovine tongue may show. At
times he may order a subordinate to speak on his behalf. If he is
prone to anger it will be because of the language barrier and
any sense of inferiority it may bring.

-He is zealously protective of the South and his Empress and may
run into issues with his own vows to the Spire if he finds anyone
assaulting the Royal Court in Seantryn Modan.

-He despises the Outlanders of Thar-Eris above all else as their
views threaten the Southern Empire as a whole. Beyond this he has
hatred for the Fortress of Light, Cult of the Ruby Scarab and
Barons of Chaos for similar but less obvious reasons.

-He will strive to be the finest example of a Magistrate that he
can be as he regards himself as an Emissary for his Empress, the
Priesthood and the South as a whole.

The Priesthood of the Southern Winds

Grauk Lechium isn't a typical Minotaur grunt. He
was born to the bloodline of the Lechiums, an elite
force of Minotaurs who are bred from virgin daughters
of the Noble Houses of the South. This sacrifice was
a sign from the nobility that they were willing to
do *anything* for the good of the South.

The Lechium line was born from these nobles and then
immediately entered into the Priesthood of the Southern
Winds where they would worship deities considered healthy
for the southern nobility, and coordinate the breeding
of common-born minotaurs. You could say that the Lechium
line, by virtue of their origins, are the noble class of
their race. This is a birthright they take very seriously.

Once a Priest is educated, he is introduced to the Empress
and her court as a personal protector, adviser and Priest.
This is the greatest honor a minotaur in the South can
be given. For Grauk, the opportunity came at a young age.
His zealous worship of the Lady Ishuli and his focus on
the purity of the Southern culture made his insight of
particular value to the Royal Court.

In fact, the Empress found Grauk so valuable that she made a
decision to send the young minotaur to the North. Given the
eratic behavior of the Northern Emperor and a rising threat
from the Outlands, she felt it was best that Southern interests
be represented by a Southern noble. She felt she couldn't trust
any of the others, given their own selfish ends. But a Minotaur?
Specifically a Lechium? She was convinced her agenda would be
properly pushed amongst the Nobles in the North.

And with that, Grauk was sent to Galadon as a gift to the Spire
from the Empress of the South.

Chapter 1

Southern Purity

The Southern Continent is a strange place. To understand
it, you must recognize that its culture is uniquely its
own. In the North, there will be Captains, Marshalls,
Provosts, Flames and even Emperors who will rise and fall.
The dynamic will change. Even the culture will change. It
is the ebb and flow of the realm of Thera.

But the South? The South remains the same.

Under the watchful eye of the noble Houses the South, led
by their Empress, Seantryn Modan has entrenched itself as a
pillar of Order, commerce and its own blend of Imperialism.
Southern life has been sustained by Southern values, values
which like its culture are uniquely their own.

An example of this was the creation of the Minotaurs. To the
North, they may be seen as abominations, born from black magic
and sacrifical human women. But to the South, they are a dutiful
Master Race, created by the nobility for the nobility. The South,
you see, is vulnerable. Vulnerable to the interests of the North,
vulnerable to the crude violence of the Outlands, vulnerable to
dissent within its own halls. The Minotaurs serve as a means to
circumvent all these risks as honorable soldiers, servants and
even advisers to the Empress herself.

The South has proven that in order to survive in Thera, one must
be willing to part ways with conventional, often limiting morality
for the sake of longevity and power.

Within this struggle there is great purity.

Within this struggle there is great evil.

And from this struggle came Grauk Lechium.
