Vramun Strongarm the Leviathan of Law, Provost Magistrate

Description

A large figure is before you. Broad shouldered and heavily
muscled leave little doubt of being one more accustomed
to the physical side of life. His sheer size dwarfs the large
head that rests on his shoulders, a thick heavy brow sit atop
eyes which peer from the shadows of the deep eye sockets.
Divided by a flat a wide nose, nostrils flared in what seems
a perpetual sneer. Time has weathered his face this sneer now
resting within wrinkles and broad crows feet push their way free
at the corners of his eyes. A broad mouth shows glimpses of
yellowed teeth as large as a humans thumb. Thick corded muscle
stems from the base of his jawline holding his head in rigid
alignment with the rest of his body.

He is covered in a set of mismatched bulky plates, each piece
seemingly choosen as they fit his frame more than anything else
Between the gaps orange and silver hair pushes its way free as
muscle and skin strain on the metal and leather straps that contain
them. His hair is matted and bound together, seaweed entrapped
in these twisted bundles of hair forming as much a body covering
as his armor does. Large salt crystals seeming baked into these
bundles binds everything tight forming a shimmering scaly hide.
Despite the appearance of his hide, not a single mark of rust
or salt damage touch plates he wears. Heavy calloused broad hands,
thick fingered punished by the obvious signs of hard work hold
implements of combat in a tight embrace.

Chapter 11

The Last Stand

It was a harsh day on the seas that day several war barges severely damaged lumbered yet
forward, the remenants of several harpoon stations scattered through out decks of each
each ship. Then the cry from the crows nest "Due west captain, due west." Craning his neck
up towards the sky the captain yelled "If your sure lad signal it." A flag containing
a red square, surrounded by a white square, surrounded by a blue quickly hoisted high. The
surrounding ships raising their own in reply. As the fleet slowly shifted direction
the captain paused for a moment focused on the mass aboard two of the vessels, as round as
an ancient tree, covered in barbed suckers, they near dwarf the large vessel. Grabbing his
telescope the captain takes one last look. noticing the crew standing infront of it in all
manner of victory poses. Lowering his telescope one word comes from his mouth "Idiots."
Gazing forward he sees just the faintest whisp of black ink disipating through the sea
"This has only just begun."

...

Vramun stands within the Vindicator halls, staring into nothing ness, his thoughts disrupted
by news of a criminal sighting. Instinctively reaching with a well trained hand, a small sigh
escapes his lips as his fingers caress the smooth steel of a set of Manacles. Moving his hand
and clenching his weapons tightly, he mutters the words "There be fight left in my yet."

Chapter 10

The Weight Of Time

There is a frustration building in Vramun. particularly in the hunting of
As the weight of time starts to wage war heavily on Vramuns body, he knows
that the time the Spire looses is strength will be coming sooner rather
than later. Knowning how hard he works with every breath he believes this
is going to be a huge loss for the Spire. For some they will likely rise
to the occassion for others tho they will fade to be little more than paper
pushers. So to counter this Vramun is going to start taking moments of
time to start pushing some out of there comfort zone. To become a pillar
of strength within the spire, and a symbol of fear for those who dare cross
it.

With his ageing body starts to come the associated pain, pain starts to radiate
through his body, joints, muscle all hold a dull ache and even some of the
simpler bumps and bruises seem to take far longer to heal. But well over five
hundread years of strength doesnt fade over night, so he is still a brutal
giant, its just that it takes some managing. And he has found the simplest of
solutions that which formed who he is now sustains it, fire and water. These
two contrasting temperatures bring relief and draw blood in and out of weary
muscle and joints. While he may have slowed down somewhat in his opprtunity
for fight, none of his ferocity within one has faded.

Chapter 9

Land Kraken II

There is a frustration building in Vramun. particularly in the hunting of
certain criminals. The tactics used not dissimilar to a large war barge
surrounded by smaller defensive ships. Not that the criminals should be noted
for great power and destructive force, but more for the slow lumbering speed
and defensive wall formed by other ships. Such a formation was sent out
after ships had started sinking completely torn in two, for weeks the ships
roamed the seas. As time went by thy travelled further and further out with
barely a sign, and as the reached for far bounds of the sea is when it all
changed. A dark shadow loomed on the horizon, stalking them remaining out
of reach of the harpoons on the great war barge. The shadow circled them
several times before stopping, it was then that all manner of creatures were
hurled towards one of the outer defensive ships, storm giants, cloud giants
sharks, whales. The sheer burden of weight eventually sending the ship under.
The shadow then moved through this gap, another defensive ship suddenly vanishing
from sight. Methodically the shadow picked off the defensive ships, the chaos
of the defensive ships movement providing the cover from the War barge, the great
harpoons striking its own defense. When all defensive ships were gone, the shadow
disapeared deep into the sea, time went by and the seas surface as still as glass
in one final crash the war barge was shaken violently as tenticles raised below it
wrapping it in an embrace pulling the war barge under.

...

Like the creature of the deep, Vramun has started to employ the same tactic. If
he cannot make it to a criminal directly, then he will tear down those defensive
walls, those defensive boats. All the while the criminals in their slow lumbering
ways will watch as the panic begins to settle in. Once all alone floating on a
windless sea he will then make the final push and drag the criminals under.

Chapter 8

Land Kraken

Vramun stands on the edge of the seaport docks east of Hamsah, ships come and
go frequently as sailors and merchants gingerly walk a circle around the giant.
His arms hang from his shoulder somewhat relaxed a marbled green stone rod tied
to his left hand, and a mass of braided coastal vines coiled in his right. As
the breeze blows across the docks he inhales deeply the saltly air filling his
nostrils. He closes his eyes for a moment before slowly opening them as he scans
the horizon the distorted silhouette of serveal ships far in the stretch of sight.

His grip tightens around the mass of braided coastal vines and he mutters a single
"Kraken"

...

History has told of the Kraken for as long as there has been a ship in the sea
many as a sailor on the Hamsah docks and they will claim to have seen it or know
someone who has seen it. Lost loved ones, lost boats, lucky to be alive. Vramun
is starting to feel he is the embodyment of this creature on land, within the deadly
embrace of his flails and whips very few have come out the other end and survived.
And yet like the stories of the Kraken there have been the survivors those who have
desperatey run aground out of reach, or even laid trap with another "ship" in waiting
ready to try harpoon the creature and brag of victory. Then ... things go quiet
slowly people grow comfortable ... the stories then soon start again, more destruction
than ever before great ships Kings of the sea not simply damaged but torn in two.
Vramun is this creature somewhat beaten of late, perhaps licking recent wounds at
the hands of the tree and fortress but single focused stoic and he will only be the
the stronger and more agressive for it.

Chapter 7

Reflections

Vramun stands in the center of the city of Hamsah, corpses surround
him, a camel, a couple of citizens and the large putrid form of an orc.
He grunts somewhat unamused by his circumstance, as he gingerly keeps
the weight of one foot, the orcs have breeched the cities serveal times
now. Not just Hamsah but Galadon as well and each time they have proven
difficult to push back. His service did not go unnoticed within the cities
but none the less he feels that this is perhaps just the start of the
orcs boldness.

As he clenches his weapons tightly he inhales the salty air that hovers
over the city this day, closing his eyes he focuses a moment on the sound
of waves nipping at the wooden pylonsof the docks to the east. Since
disembarking from Grurks Rising, he has always found a solitude from the
smells and sounds of the ocean, and a respect for the sheer unrelenting
raw power of the waters. While other Tribunals may pawn and beg for chance
to serve in Galadon or even Voralia, Vramun will remain true to the coastal
cities. When the chance to move comes he will choose to base himself in
either of these two cities, someone has to do it so it may as well be him.

The here and now

One often cannot so simply forget what has shaped him over the greater part
of 100 years. It is always easy to focus on the positives but often one ends
up far stronger from the negatives if they can truely learn from them.

As a free man Sakaarason wandered the streets for many months until finally
settling in Galadon. When it came time to register he made the choice to
register under the name of Vramun Strongarm, both a hommage to a new start and
that which shaped this start.

Other lessons remained with him from the ship, the time spent with so many from
various walks of life shaped his Common Tongue into a slightly below average
standard.

He will continue to serve the Order that eventually freed him, as part of the
Tribunals. A role he will fullfil with an iron clad fist, boardering on the
side of vengefulness, mirroring the punishment for his simple crime barely
a bruise entitled 50 years of pain and suffering.

Many things learned on the ships will stay with him in the way he applies his
futher guild studies, which will continue on from Drathgar's initial work. As
such
1. He will study in the Warriors Guild
2. He will fight with the style he became acustmed to facing on the ship
2a. Hand to hand - From the arranded fights in the Galley that the crew often
bet on
2b. Whip and Flail - From the brutal lashings and control the crew used to keep
the Galley in line
3. These hardships will also shape the way he will fight near the guild pinicle
3a. Fires of Advesity - Matching his ability to push through the greatest of pain
and a hommage to his time on the mountains.
3b. Hours Past Midnight - Also from the Galley fights and the need to turn almost
anything into a weapon. Chairs, Oars, Rope, Shackles and so forth.

Chapter 5

A new start

Sakaarason stood before Captain Syge Ravenhart, as the captain walked
around the shackled giant.

"You know some of the ships out in the ocean, they wont have slaves in
the Galley. The Galley is a place of nobility and just as one would not
go to war with an idiot by their side. Nor would one allow it to be
steered by idiots. It is a place if Discipline, Order, Grace and Strength"

Captain pauses a moment tapping his whip on his chin.

"One oar executed poorly can have a ripple on effect with all the others
sometimes uprighting a ship."

"But some ships they are powered by slaves, and sometimes the duties
performed by those slaves is so great that it one day buys their freedom."

Two men move from the back of the cabin inserting key into lock and
shackles fall to the ground with satisfying clunk as the captain moves
infront of the giant. Piece of paper held in hand.

"I will save you the time, you are a free man. Your time served has saved
not only ship but those onboard it. There is little on record of why you
ended up here my forebearers a little heavy handed and far to light handed
with the records. So use this chance wisely."

Chapter 4

The sea was angry that day

One word one shrill scream echoed across the deck of Grurks Rising

"KRAKEN!"

The tension could be felt in the Galley immediately, chained to the
center of the ship Sakaarason, three oars lashed together either side
allowing both pace and balance of the ship to be set with the lesser
galley slaves. The giant set himself forward tension evident on every
part of his body as he pulled on the oars lunging the craft forwards
with the other crew. They had been here before, you had to act fast,
overhead the sound of the largest sails being unfurled could be heard,
pulling the ship forward again.

Everything else fades to nothing when you walk the knife edge of life
and death this moment was no different, what seemed like moments seconds
was hours dodging and weaving trying to outpace and out maneuver the
large beast.

Stoic and unrelenting Sakaarason kept pushing as other around him could
not until the cries of "The cliffs, we made the cliffs." It was well
known that the other side of the reef away from the Aryth was far safer,
and while the pace dropped the men continued to row into port at Hamsah.

Chapter 3

Galley Slave

Sakaarason woke to the chill of cold water across his face and the
crack of a nine-tailed whip. As he moved the weight and sound of
being shackled was unmistakable, his feet were locked to the hull of
the ship his forearms to the oar. Looking along its length he could
see he was chained with three other men, all humans.

He would over the next half a century that was to follow see these men
fall to the ravages of time, such is the curse of a human existance.
Tho he would not be sitting along side them for to long, it was in
his second year Sakaarason was shackled to a oar by himself, he had
for a long time now be overwhelming the ship with sheer brute force,
in the years to follow he would soon find himself sitting on the third
oar of five that had been lashed together.

Lips soon started to move between the ships of this giant with the
strength of twenty men, able to row a ship like a childs row boat.
In these whispers his true name had long been lost, and he was rather
aptly nick named Strongarm.

Chapter 2

The Outside World

Just after his 100th day of birth, Sakaarason was sent to the
west to gather supplies, with several other giants. Small chest
of gold in hand they were to return with a boat full of supplies,
various meats, grains, weapons of war. It was the day this boat
bumped into the docks of Hamsah Mu'Tazz that Sakaarason was not
to return to the mountain.

Sakaarason saw the ship in the distance, sitting on the horizon the
morning sun framing it a sinster black. As the ship got closer the
nasty barbed railings became evident as it turned towards the
southern dock. As soon as the ship pulled into port the several
figures disappeared into the crowd.

An hour or so passed and soon Sakaarason forgot about the commotion
an easy thing to do given the anger that was boiling inside him. This
food merchant was abviously trying to rip him of and after several
heated minutes of argueing Sakaarason finally snapped. Savagely
reaching forward with one hand he grabbed the merchant by the neck
and lifted him clear from the ground. Drawing him closer all he could
utter was the words "You listen ..." before a sharp crack filled his
ears and the light was taken from his eyes ...

Chapter 1

The Younger Years

Vramun wasnt always known by the name he has now, once upon
a time he was known as Sakaarason Rah, The Red. Like most of
his kind he was born deep within the volcano to the East, he
always believed named as he was, that he was a decednant of
Kiadana-Rah himself, but like the many that have born this name
in the past and will so in the future the exact correctness
of this belief would never truely be substantiated.

Like most giants of his kind he spent years under the watchful
eye of the mountains greatest warrior, Drathgar and the ways
of the warrior were drilled into him as soon as he was able to
hold weapon in hand. Here he remained battling other fire giants
pushing their bodies to the very brink of collapse and pain,
fueled by the heat of mountain only to push through and swing the
next blow unrelenting until only one remained standing barely
able to lift empty fist let alone weapon. Disciplined and stoic
they all trained and fought, studying varous weapons for a time
that would surpass essentially render most humans well into old
age. For that opprotunity to push back the mountain invaders,
and it was here just on 50 years where everything changed.
