Description

Pale, ash colored skin with a thin sheen of sweat or slime covers this
hideous woman. Her ears have been somehow thrashed to stubs, and are swollen
to such an extent it is unclear if she can hear in both ears. Her deep black
irises have burst, and one eye is red throughout. Her frame is lithe and her
chest flat. White hair grows from the top of her head, and has been shaved
bald underneath from a couple inches above her ears to her neck. The nape of
her neck bears the edges of massive whip scarring which no doubt covers a
fair portion of her body given her weak posture. Dark, dusty robes conceal a
great deal of the rest of her features and possessions. Looking closer, you

Chapter 4

The Horizon

The knowledge lay just out of reach. she knew this as certainly as any with
her gifts could. Her spuriously inherited gifts led her through strange
dreams, where the horizon she was tempted with lay just past her
transformation in undeath.

Some days, though, she felt it may just be her mind's defense against itself,
having potentially been damaged beyond repair in her first transformation
through the gulfs of time. But no matter the case, she would have to push
forward despite the forces of Chaos gathering against her. Nothing of the
physical mind could survive the Becoming, she supposed. Surely then, she
would take a form of pure distilled darkness, and be able to choose any
memory she chose from her life in another time as a daring lightwalker.

With all of the knowledge, and none of the light left in her essence to beat
back against the weakened form of a mortal being, she would be able to enter
in the same ritual as he and lurch forward through time, but as a creature
outside the bounds of life and death! Having seized the opportunity to gain
the seat of Dread Lady, and the hard won mastery of her blackest of magics,
she feels closer than ever to achieving this transcendent state, where her
very essence and consciousness can slip through the veil and ripple
throughout this age and any that come!

She awoke with a start, her body ruined, but her mind keen, as she inhaled
just a touch of the sand made by his disintegration. "Some prophecy" she
thought. So much power was imprinted on her, with no regard for the pithy
wishes of the mage that was responsible for them. She ventured in to the
Underdark for a time in a self imposed exile, mostly to avoid being
discovered alive by the Bloody Scimitar's heathen followers, and chose a name
in the drowish tongue. Ilhar Tha-lackz'hind, loosely translated, "Mother of
the Attack from Afar"


Some prophecy indeed.


She now seeks to rejoin the Empire and strengthen not the ties to the
self-righteous god of light, but to the forces that made her the way she is
today, those of the Black Sect, while doing her best to maintain good
relations with those of the Shadow.

Transferring consciousness in to a new born child, so much is lost. The
infant mind simply cannot hold the sum total of knowledge for more than a few
moments, nor the essence. But, having been discovered, the Shadow Sect
decided in a rare moment of clarity to reach across the Council Chambers, as
it were, and deal directly with the Black Sect. They trained one of the Black
the art of subterfuge, and placed them in a position as a midwife in the
lands where the prophecy would come to fruition, thousands of years after it
began. The simple tracing of a rune on the sweating mothers forehead in
unholy water, and the mages plans were truly undone. The power, the
knowledge, and the magical mastery that he held were shot forward through the
millennia as straight as an arrow, but his goodly essence was destroyed
utterly, doomed to a fate worse than hell. Limbo.

The child was discovered to not be as righteous as initially presumed. At
first, they thought that something had gone wrong, and so these merciless
servants of the bloody scimitar chose to put the young girl on the wrack, to
whip her, to torture her. They would utterly break this evil will attempting
to usurp the fledgeling chronomancer so that he might retake the body and
bring forth the true will of Muhadin. But this failed, as this essence was
long gone, and beyond the reach of any mortal and indeed even most immortals.
They presumed the prophecy was simply not to come to fruition in their time,
and after a few decades of torture, left the girl for dead in the same sands
where our prideful chronomancer disintegrated.

Chapter 1

A Black Arrow Shot Through Time: Pt 1

Long ago, mages of the generation of the great Chronomancer were more common,
albeit quite a bit less powerful than the one so named. Not so profuse as the
guilds of the arcane magics today, but none the less above the obscurity in
which such magics currently lay. One such chronomancer was a servant of
Muhadin, a priest as well as magician in his time. The story of his life is
not so much important, until the end. The magic to transport the essence, or
the soul forward or backward in time is powerful, difficult, and fraught with
danger to the user and indeed Thera itself. As the night fell in this age
past, when the Tailed Star gleamed in the sky as it does today, this mage
completed his spell, gathering components from afar and imbuing his very
essence in to them. With his last breath, he channeled the will of his
righteous goodly god, and fell dead, disintegrating to mere dust in the
following moments.


His intent was to place such a goodly essence in a time in the future, rather
than altering the past with possibly disastrous consequences. He would shoot
forward in time instead, and bring about the destruction of the wicked taint
that surely would not have been eradicated after his supposed death in the
former age. His target would be a matter or prophecy: a being born of light
and dark to balance the neutral magic of chronomancy, but with a twist. The
mother would be a drow matron turned to the light, and the father a dark
Imperial. Had our unfortunate chronomancer known those of the Shadow Sect had
already discovered his plan, he may have chosen instead to die in obscurity
than the fate that he would face.
