Description

You see before you a Duergar of just over four feet tall. His skin is as
dark as old coal and looks to be tough and leathery. His black beard and
oily black hair tied into a pony tail, frame piercing eyes equally as dark.
Calloused hands hold weapons that are not of the finest make but look well
maintained, and razor sharp. His armor is not a suit from the finest master
smith in the lands, but looks to be well maintained. He seems to have
assembled various pieces from many makers to form a decent set of armor. You
notice his trained stance of military bearing, moving with deadly purpose.
Muscles ripple as he shifts his weight between huge booted feet.

While eating a feed at the Drunken Efreeti Inn in Hamsah Mu'tazz the door
swung open and in marched a company of Imperial Blades.Armor gleaming in
the light of the open fire, the Blades had a arrogant swagger that was
compelling. The leader of the company, an imposing looking drow dressed in
gleaming black enameled armor with the mark of the Empire motioned to Habib
the Bartender.
"We will have three rooms for the night and some spiced lamb
for my men" he said looking at Habib. Habib mumbled "two rooms are already
taken" but motioned to a helper to ready the rooms for the Soldiers.
"t once Sir." Said Habib, sweat starting to apear on his brow.
"Very well Habib, your service to the Empire is noted." the Drow said
curtly, his keen hearing not missing the mumbled words.
The drow turned gracefully and joined the table
with his men, no intention of paying for the rooms or food. Khorlim had
watched the exchange with thoughtful eyes. He noticed the fear and respect
that the Blades held, their arrogance and deadly training. Well kept armor
and arms. He looked down to his battered trunk that held all his worldly
possessions and his mismatched pieces of armor. He now knew what he must do
to gain respect, glory and riches.
Darkness and Order he thought.
"My heart, My soul, My life for the Empire."

Khorlim Kazadarn was born in Aran'gird to a family of rare Duergar that
actually mine the Underdark Mines. His family was extremely wealthy by
Duergar standards due to not many others bothering with the hard labor of
mining, would rather use traditional Duergar methods of gaining what they
want with theft or murder. Khorlim despised the mining just as much as his
Duergar Brethren and when he was old enough he enlisted in the Duergar Guard
much to the displeasure of his family. On one rather brutal expedition
against the fortified dwarven keep of Mortorn, Khorlim came face to face with
a dwarven berserker. Khorlim feinted to the left and swung a mighty blow
with his hammer into the side of the dwarfs helmet. He had felled many
dwarves before with this tactic but the berserker just grinned and fought
harder.Khorlim was eventually knocked out and taken captive by the dwarves.


For almost thirty years Khorlim was held captive and forced to work in the
mines of Akan. Khorlim was beaten and abused by his stupid captives but would
not lose faith in escape. The dwarves liked their ale and sometimes would be
a bit lax in their guard duty, this gave Khorlim time to work on a hidden
switchback tunnel that he excavated in secret when he could steal a few
minutes in the shadows.Many years he toiled until he managed to break
through and escape into the mountains, dodging dwarven patrolers to escape.

Khorlim enlisted in the Warriors guild when he had gathered enough money
doing mercenary work for Alderari killing wolves and such. He knew he would
need to be much more skilled with his weapons than he was to survive in the
brutal world. He also carried out a couple of murders for a shady Duergar
called Gralan on the side as he would get work where ever he could find it.
Khorlim was wondering the world getting various mercenary jobs here and
there, saving what coins he could spare. Khorlim had a nice little fraud he
devised in the Desert of Araile, he would help the Bandits kill the merchants
caravan and their guards. Then Khorlim would take all the loot and kill the
Bandits and get paid by Hazaz the Watchman. He knew this would not last for
long before he was caught out in his subterfuge.
