Description

Long auburn hair cascades around the frame of the face of the delicate woman
that is before you. The hair itself seems to radiate a soft glow as embers
from a fire would, illuminating a pair of golden eyes that look out from
behind the shifting veil of errant hairs. Her face itself radiates the same
soft glow, so that the delicate features of her face are easy to see. A small
nose and thin lips, but otherwise rather innocuous in appearance, her youth
is apparent. Not an imposing woman by any means standing an average height,
with her attire hanging loosely on her body. The glow of her skin carries
throughout, creating a soft aura that seems to enshroud this woman, giving a
rather warm and inviting feel to her very presence.

Sanshia the Maran

The halls of the Fortress were bathed in soft light, bringing a peace to
Sanshia as she roamed the hall. It was hard for her to remember her life
before the fortress, even her time as a squire often seemed more distant
memory. Yet now she was among the Maran, wearing the mantle proudly. The
essence within her seemed pleased with their life together.

Sanshia's life had been eventful, and at the same time quiet. Even as a
Maran, most of her life was spent in relative quiet, aiding the others of the
Fortress more than eradicating the dark hearted. However, it often seemed the
tide of darkness were at bay, rarely wreaking havoc across the Theran
landscape. She may have played a small part in such, if any, but no matter
how it happens it was pleasant to live in such a world.

The angel within her had calmed since her youth as well, or perhaps her own
essence had melded more with it, so that they had finally truly become one
and the same. She was less hesitant in standing against the darkness, less
tentative. She had confidence in her own abilities, and the abilities
bestowed upon her.

Sanshia, Maran of the fortress, after many years, finally understood who she
truly was now.

The Fortress of the Light was a natural home for Sanshia, and she had been
welcomed in by all those who served within. She was still yet unsure of
herself, and was honestly still unsure of how the gift that had been given to
her has changed her. For all her reservations though, the celestial side of
her was overjoyed to be serving the light and the joy in that surged through
her.

Her natural inclination would have been the life of a scribe, but at the same
time she knew she'd never find contentment not being on the forefront of the
crusade against the darkness. She knew she would have to confront that
duality inside her, the angelic nature demanding more than her human side
thought herself capable of. Though she struggled within, she still knew her
love was for those of the Fortress, her new family. And it was for them, and
all the others of the light, that she knew she must not let her doubts deter
her from becoming a divine instrument of the light in Thera.


She had never pondered it until just then, but it came to her all at once.
She had once been Sanshia, a mere girl living a simple life on the farm. But
the goddess of the light reminded her that she was no longer that simple
girl. She had become something more, and so she must be known as something
more, if only to remind herself who she now was. It had been early in the
morning when the blessing of the angel had came to her.

Chapter 1

Blessed.

The sensation was an odd one, and yet not entirely unwelcome to the young
woman. She had been playing a song for her parents, a quaint melody to pass
the time after dinner. Sanshia could not even tell what had happened at
first, until she saw the look of shock on the face of her parents. The
radiance that filled her came forth, altering her appearance before them,
even carrying into her voice itself. Her parents would say her voice drew the
angel's essence to her, but Sanshia was never so sure. To her, it seemed
purely chance, for she had never thought herself special before that day.

Sanshia had not been a very special young girl, indeed she was rather mundane
in most respects with a middling talent for music at best, prior to the
blessing of the fields touching her. The angelic ties the dwelt within her
changed that though, and it was something she struggled with at times, as the
spirit within her cried out to be unleashed. It was through her singing that
she let could let it out, and through her physical abilities to a lesser
degree.

One thing became clear to Sanshia though. Whatever path her life would have
led to, that path was forever changed by the spirit within her. She could not
deny the gift she was given, even if she could never understand why it had
chosen her. She knew one thing though. The spirit within her desired to serve
the light, and it would never be satisfied with anything less from its chosen
