Cainasir Nebuzaal the Slayer of the Hundred, Initiate of the Scarab
DescriptionBefore you is a human male. He stands just over six feet in height. His lithe body is well toned and muscular showing the product of years of training and labor. His face is long and broad with a prominent jaw that gives him a chiseled appearance. Much like the rest of his alabaster skin his face is unblemished and pristine. His eyes are a light blue and lend to his emotionless demeanor. His head, much his face, has been recently shaved and is perfectly smooth. A large, wandering scar runs from the top right side of his head and ends just behind his ear. He is clad in hooded sacerdotal black robes which are embroidered with a large rune that resembles Y with it's base curved like a fish hook.

54499, Cainasir's Role Chapter 7
Posted by Death_Angel on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
RoleChapter 7 The Haiku of Death Vol. III Added Sun Oct 18 09:48:10 2015 at level 28:More poems and their situational context:
Sent to another shapechanger, an airshifter named Slithaxxus who had evaded Cainasir in the past by flying high in the sky.
You can soar too high, Blinded by profanity, Longing for the Truth. ----------
This was sent to a young Imperial named Cehvryl after his death. Cainasir had followed him for a long time before finally striking:
Death was your shadow, Waiting for your baptism, In the blood of Truth. ----------
Another young Imperial, Gumiho, had attempted to take shelter from Cainasir in the Inn of the Eternal Star. Cainasir titled this Haiku "The Illusion" in reference to the false notion of "safety".
The Inn is not safe, Neither is your Empire, Both are built on Lies. ----------
The next was sent to a felar woodsman named Mezow who declared that Cainasir had made a "powerful enemy" after he died. Appropriately titled "The Adversary":
I have become death, An ever-present specter, Feeding on the Blind. ----------
The next for Tabuth, a dark-elf necromancer who had escaped narrowly four separate times from Cainasir. The fifth time he teleported to his death, prompting this Haiku on the subject of "luck":
When Darkness descends, Luck fades like the blinding Light, I am the Reaper.

54493, Cainasir's Role Chapter 1
Posted by Death_Angel on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
RoleChapter 1 The King of Fear Added Mon Oct 5 02:30:13 2015 at level 1:Far in the Southern lands lies an isolated land know as the Kingdom of Jaf'fa. At the head of its leadership is it's King, an aging human by the name of Nibuazik. Raised with a proverbial silver spoon in his mouth King Nibuazik has never known strife or discomfort. His entirely existence has been governed by the illusion of his nobility. This has led to a man with no sense of consciousness, no purpose beyond selfish governance. He has lived his whole life immune to the pitfalls of the common man. Until now, for now he has begun to fear his own mortality. An abyss that all men rich or poor must cross.
Some men take this in stride. A select few use magic to attempt to skirt Death's embrace. But others, like our feeble King, choose fear. Many nights sleep have been lost as Nibuazik tossed and turned attempting to come up with a way to sustain his reign of mediocrity beyond human expectations. He began to spend vast amounts of gold on Seers, hoping to find out how long he had left. Most of these were mere parlour tricks intended to rob the King of his wealth. But one provided something of actual use. A story of a great chamber that was sealed Ages ago on the outskirts of Jaf'fa. A room of great evil that held Truth for any who could endure it's darkness.

RoleChapter 2 The Chamber of Devils Added Mon Oct 5 02:31:02 2015 at level 1:Nibuazik exhausted even more of his wealth in digging up the edges of his Kingdom but after a year of searching the chamber was uncovered. It's door was sealed with a large, unfamiliar Y-shaped rune with a hooked bottom. The Seer had warned him that within was a great Devil who had been sealed magically by a conjurer of the Royal Court many aeons earlier. To say that the workers and the King himself were nervous about breaking the seal was an understatement. Nibuazik thought for a time and then decided to send in one of his servants, a young boy named Cainasir (prounounced Kay-in-ah-ser) who was born in service of the Royal House. He instructed the boy to ask the Devil of his (the King's) future and how to obtain immortality.
When the seal was broken and the door moved just enough for Cainasir to enter, a small gust of wind came from the crack, smelling of death. The boy froze with his own fear, but was quickly kicked through the door and it was again closed behind him. Armed with only a torch he began his descent down the stairs toward to the large, open center of the Chamber which adorned a simple, modest altar.
Shaking with fear he moved closer as the shadows swirled about him. Whispers came from the darkness in tongues he could not understand. He set the torch in a holder upon the altar and traced the Y-shaped rune upon the altar with his finger.
As he did so his mind began to clear, the shadows began to swirl and take forms and colour. Soon he felt as though he was transported as his hallucinations became more akin to a lucid vision. He saw the world for what it was, a hollow and empty place made miserable by communal lies which the masses accepted for the sake of comfort and weakness. He saw how every man died but so very few actually lived. He saw a crown did not make a King. How charity did not make goodness. How so many had quested for immortality when it was immorality that truly set one free.
When the visions faded he was again before the altar, his feet aching from the hours of standing perfectly still. He looked up and saw the Devil before him, a wicked grin upon it's shadowy visage. He spoke in the foreign tongue again, but this time Cainasir understood him clearly: "Go, my son and see the world through new eyes." And with that the Devil was gone, freed from his Ages of imprisonment.

RoleChapter 3 The Burden of Truth Added Mon Oct 5 02:31:57 2015 at level 1:When Cainasir emerged from the Chamber it was night. A dozen hours since he had entered. The guards noticed the difference first, he held himself taller. He did not have the confused and fearful look as before. The King ran to him and grabbed him by the shoulders, shaking him. "What did it say, boy!" He screamed. Cainasir continued to stare through the King as though he was not there. The King shook him again, and struck him across the face. Suddenly the boys eyes locked with his and Cainasir said: "Embrace the Dark." They would be the last words he ever said.
Upon returning to the Castle the King continued to try and force Cainasir to speak. When all else failed he had Cainasir sent to his Torturer in the Dungeons below where he endured days of unspeakable punishments. At one point the Torturer asked him if he was ready to speak to the King. Cainasir nodded weakly and the King was brought before him. "Speak!" the King commanded. Cainasir knew his will was failing him and that he would soon speak the Truth to a man who was the manifestation of the Profane. In that moment he determined the King was unworthy of such an honour. He stuck his tongue out slightly and bit down hard. The King's shock was easily spelled across his face as he saw the blood begin to flow from the corners of the boys mouth.
His eyes began to water but he bit harder, and soon felt his teeth clash together. He took a deep breath and spit his own tongue across the floor, having it land just inches from the King's feet. The torturer hit him across the back of his head, splitting his skull just behind the ear.
Cainasir slipped into darkness and slept for several days. When he awoke he found himself in a warm bed with his wounds well cared for. In Nibuazik's obsessive craze he never noticed unrest within his Kingdom. He had been usurped and executed along with most of his court. Once he was healed Cainasir slipped into the night and headed for the mainlands with the intent of learning more of the Infernal Path.

54496, Cainasir's Role Chapter 4
Posted by Death_Angel on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
RoleChapter 4 Cainasir Nebuzaal Added Mon Oct 5 02:33:08 2015 at level 1:Characteristics of note:
Cainasir is a mute. After biting off his own tongue to preserve the "Truth" which the Devil showed him he is unable to speak. He will use other ways to communicate when necessary including notes, penned parchments and body language. He does not regret his decision as he felt he was protecting the sanctity of enlightenment. It is better to change yourself forever than to waste a word upon the unworthy.
Upon researching what he saw he has come to worship Scarabaeus Sacer better known to many as the "Father of Devils". He believes that the process of learning the objective Truth of the realm is a sort of intellectual becoming. A transformation that he sees in the Scarab beetles of the deep sands. He hopes to continue this transformation through the devout worship of the Father.
He is attempting to challenge everything he once knew to be "truth" through measured immorality. He seeks to embrace death as a means to overcome fear. He seeks to bring death as a means to cull those who hinder the world from it's own becoming. At the top of his list in this regard are the Marans and the Imperials. The Fortress because of their weakness and the Empire because they remind him his former "King" who seeks to hide their fear behind false titles and gold.
He is a deeply introspective man with an Orderly soul that dictates how he approaches all things. He will frequently pen Haiku-styled items as he hunts his prey. Leaving them behind as a sort of calling card for his dark crusade.
He views himself as a defender of Truth. A guardian of the gateway to Enlightenment. Should he see any others, especially Priests of foreign religions, preaching a false way he will cull them with merciless zeal.

54497, Cainasir's Role Chapter 5

RoleChapter 5 The Haiku of Death Added Fri Oct 16 17:40:47 2015 at level 26:Below are a few samples of the Haiku style poems which Cainasir has left some of his victims. While he currently sends these by courier it is his plan to begin scribing them himself with pen and parchment. These poems reiterate his intent to become more than just a killer. He desires the meditative state of Truth which he has only been able to taste from shedding the blood of the Profane.
The first was sent to Ahmera. A foul-mouthed, arrogant village applicant who boasted of the "safety" of the Inn. Cainasir brought a mercenary to distract the Bouncer while he finished the Wood-Elf, which inspired this Haiku:
You can hide no where, Death is everywhere I am, Embrace the Father. --------------------------------------
Next was Salson, a fellow seeker of the Temple and student of Truth. Much like Ahmera our hunter found he did not care for Salson's mouth, nor his temper. He decided to teach him a lesson:
A seeker of Truth, Will not find much in the end, Crippled by anger. --------------------------------------
And as a final example was Isa. A shapechanger (a profession which Cainasir despises because of the luck involved in one's fate) who had fallen to Cainasir more than once, always because of a careless mistake: forgetting to fly:
You will learn to fly, For the shadows hold terrors, Learn to Embrace them. --------------------------------------
These serve as glimpses into Cainasir's psyche. His desire to serve the Father grows along with his reputation as an Assassin.

RoleChapter 6 The Haiku of Death Vol. II Added Sun Oct 18 09:38:58 2015 at level 28:More poems that have been sent to the victims of Cainasir's quest for the Dark Enlightenment which he refers to as "Coming Into Being".
Sent after the death of Karnnacidhe, a shapechanger. Cainasir continues to hunt those of the guild because he feels that they are not true masters of the Will. That sentiment is reflected by this Haiku:
You leave much to fate, Your potential in the wind, Come into Being. ----------
Sent to Karnnacidhe who was assuming Cainasir was near and brought him out of the shadows with a spell of fog. A decision which cost him his life again:
Death is never far, When the Blind walk in the fog, Woe to the Profane. -----------
Another shapechanger, this one Refolinae, had done well in evading Cainasir for days. Eventually her guard was down and Cainasir fell her. After which they have struck a bit of a mutual interest. Cainasir no longer hunts her because of it and often sends her poems without shedding her blood. The first here is after her death, the others are in attempt to shape her understanding:
I am the Reaper, A spider in a dark web, Feasting on the Blind.
Titled: The Illusion Safety is a lie, Born from the sin of weakness, Come into Being.
Titled: I Am Becoming Indulgence embraced, The blood of the vanquished, I have become Death.

RoleChapter 8 The Haiku of Death Vol. IV Added Sun Oct 18 09:55:23 2015 at level 28:More poems and situational context:
For Horner, a gnome druid who Cainasir slew in the Grove. Titled "The Purity of Truth":
The woodlands are pure, Your neutrality is not, Embrace the Darkness. ----------
This for a young Villager, Xendanth, who said after his death that he was frustrated because he couldn't see Cainasir coming due to invisibility magic. Titled "The Frustrations of the Soul":
You long for much more, See the Light in the Darkness, Lest you be consumed. -----------
This for Igvar, a young duergar who thought he had the upper hand because he could see the shadows. To his dismay, he could not see the invisible. Titled "The Shadow's Embrace":
Death will come for all, Even swifter for the Blind, Embrace purity. ----------
No death for this one, simply a response to Jyorgus when he commented on the 75 gold bounty on Cainasir's young head. Titled "Seventy-five Pieces of Gold":
They fear the Father, Gold does not shine in the Dark, I am Becoming. ----------
This on to another shapechanger, Zimana. Who made Cainasir chase him all over the depths of the Aryth until eventually Zimana's legs gave out. Titled "The Pursuit of Truth":
You were slain tired, Your Soul exhausted by Lies, Come into the Dark.

RoleChapter 9 The Haiku of Death Vol. V Added Tue Oct 20 09:29:59 2015 at level 29:Selected Haikus sent to those defeated in battle:
This one titled "The Tainted Stone" was sent to a svirnfebli Berserker of the BattleRager Village named Soody:
Your Stone tells vile Lies, Tainted by Fear and Weakness, Formed by the Profane. ----------
Sent to a Nexun Ranger who Cainasir found wandering the Eastern Road. Titled "The Long Walk":
The long road is dark, With terrors in the Shadows, Turn from the Balance. ----------
To Mezow, a felar ranger with a foul mouth who Cainasir has attempted to help transcend his limitations. This was sent after Mezow demanded to know why Cainasir had culled him again. Titled "The Hollow Sanctum":
Your mouth weaves a web, Anger and Profanity, It makes you suffer. -----------
"The Shackles" sent to a Destuvian Healer known as Zagan:
Shackles of Order, Weigh as heavy as your Lies, Find Truth in freedom. ----------
This one, "From the Shadows" was sent to Gnedist after a long stalk. To Cainasir's joy the gnome replied with a few Haikus of his own and has expressed the desire to learn. As such, Cainasir has spared him further suffering.
Death is always near, When His poet walks the realms, Waiting to Indulge. ----------
"The Blinding Fields of Light" sent to Efarem, an Azuretouched warrior. the first of such creatures Cainasir has laid eyes on. He despises them more than any other race:
Abomination, Born from remnants of the Light, Bled back to Darkness. ----------
This one, a note sent to Gnedist after he fell to Aldon, was commentary on how Cainasir views Aldon's actions and bloodlust. He does not approve of how the young thief approaches the faith and his emphasis on profit over Becoming:
Aldon is foolish, Truth does not abide in him, Your blood for nothing.

54502, Cainasir's Role Chapter 10
Posted by Death_Angel on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
RoleChapter 10 The Awakening Added Wed Oct 21 18:35:12 2015 at level 30:Cainasir's progress has been recognised by the Father of Devils. While praying to Scarabaeus before the altar he was tattooed by the Lich and in his own opinion took a considerable step forward in his own Becoming. That being a psychological transformation, a means by which he can transcend the limitations of thought. A means by which he can grow beyond the shackles of Lies which define the Profane.
It is with this in mind that he has moved on to the next part of exercisng his Will upon Thera. His Haiku poems have served usually as a post-kill reflection, both for Cainasir and the victim, as to why their path is Profane and how to begin to Become as well. Now he is broadening these efforts to bring the Word of Scarabaeus to the young and impressionable, before they find their way into the Fog.
From these he has focused first on the orc Groosh. Urging him to seek the Great Wild Beast, Saraba. An aspect of his Lord that Cainasir does not fully understand himself. He has also forged an odd relationship with Hirleu, a Village Assassin who worships the Spearmaiden Baerinika. At a glance this assassin is everything that is Profane and should be Cainasir's main target in the war. However he noticed early that Hirleu refused to hunt him. Out of respect of his abilities, perhaps? As time stretched it began to smell more like fear. Cainasir realised this weakness allowed him a rare opportunity to harm more than just Hirleu's body. He desired his Soul. To show him the corruption of his ways.
As he progresses he will continue to spread the word of this "Awakening." Which is he referring to as the Aeon of Scarabaeus. He will continue to seek entrance to the Cult and to further the corruption of Hirleu as well. He believes that as he continues to Change that he can change Thera as well.

RoleChapter 11 The Haiku of Death Vol. VI Added Mon Oct 26 00:28:57 2015 at level 33:Selected poems sent to those culled in the quest for clarity:
The first, sent to Igvar and titled "Understanding" was inspired after Cainasir offered the duergar peace for him to contemplate his path. He responded with violence and fell once more.
"This is not the Way, My blood will not quench your thirst, It comes from Within." ----------
The next, sent to a shapechanger named Beltraning is titled "The Changing":
"You may change your shape, But your Soul remains Profane, Embrace the Father." ----------
The next sent to Xendanth, titled "Becoming" is more about Cainasir than his prey. Perhaps a glimpse into his inner motivations:
"One cannot escape, The Father's dark desires, We all must Obey." -----------
This one, "To Be" was sent to Refolinae when she said that they were not meant to be as one belonged to the Sea and the other to Shadows. This reflects how Cainasir views "fate" and those who worship Drehir:
"Fate is malicious, A lie sold by those who Fear, Our Will manifests." ------------
"The Pursuit" sent to Inventorgla after he attempted to evade Cainasir by hiding in a cave under water:
"You cannot evade, The Father's All-Seeing eye, Woe to the Vanquished." ------------
This to Rhuen, a Village thief who claimed his demise to Cainasir was a "good death":
"Seek and you shall find, That which eludes you in life, Within the Father."

"The Empty Glass" sent to a dwarven Innkeeper named Arek:
The Son of Akan, Drowns himself in Ale and Wine, Blinded by the Lies. ----------
"Time" sent to Xendanth after he commented on how long Cainasir waited for the perfect strike:
Time does not matter, When you are Free from the Fog, Come, Embrace your Will. ----------
"The Two Elves" sent to Altrana and Kalrualithus who were culled while venturing in the Mausoleum:
Born into the Fog, Waging a pointless Crusade, The Reaper has come. ----------
"The Explorer" delivered to Siffeh after he took offense with Cainasir killing him as he was "just an explorer."
Many explore land, Some venture into the sea, So few look Within. ----------
This was sent to an Orc named Umuruk who was assassinated because he could not detect those hidden by invisibility magic. Cainasir stalked him mostly upon water and then finished him at the Grinning Skull altar, both places he cannot hide in the shadows. This was another of his attempts to push the orcs toward the Father's embrace:
The Blind cannot see, When Death looks them in the eye, Seek the Wild Beast. ----------
Delivered to a duergan death knight named Gradlatik.
Magic weaves a web, From which you will steal a Soul, But what of your own? ----------
"The New Citizen" sent to a singer named Mnellwi who fell within the Mausoleum to Cainasir's blade:
The Woodland Singer, Far from home amongst the dead, Now dwells in their Hall. ----------
"The Trickster" delivered to Calcabrizzo after he said that he would not fall for any of Cainasir's "tricks". He was assassinated within Galadon the following day:
I have many tricks, As you wander in the Fog, Death is always near. ----------
This was delivered to Deloriah after she fell trying to defend the Village from Cainasir's attempts to regain the Father's Icon. Cainasir expects more from the Reavers as he feels they are inherently close to Enlightenment. Thus far he has been disappoitned with them:
To aid the Village, Was to surrender your life, For the Unworthy.
