Sindrir Hraesson the Viper of Aran'gird, Emperor of Thera
DescriptionBefore you is a male duergar. Standing at nearly five feet in height he looks like a tree stump, wide and stout, with bulging muscles that lend to his strong presence. His skin is rough and rugged with a distinctive ebon hue. His face is rounded with prominent cheek bones that give his eye sockets a slightly sunken appearance. The most protrusive feature on this dark dwarf is his beard which hangs nearly at his navel. It's thick, greasy hair is a shade of black so dark that it almost blends into his skin and shadowy armour. Unlike the dwarves he has not decorated his beard with any braids or cloth. It appears to be even less kept than the rest of him.
His head is clean shaven without any sign of stubble. His abnormally large forehead adorns a dull red tattoo that slightly stands out against his skin. It is of a large X shaped rune that runs up near the crown of his head. diagonally intersecting lines cross near the top of the design and form an arrow. From the top of that intersection runs a straight, thick line down between the intersection of the X to it's base. The inspid red of the ink matches his eyes which are a dim, almost lifeless grey that pulse with a similar shade of red.
His armour contributes to his shadowy demeanor and much like the rest of him it is not neatly maintained. Emblazoned on his breastplate is a sigil of cave viper wrapping itself around a broadsword. Upon the hilt of the sword is the same rune which is tattooed on this man's face.

53333, Sindrir's Role Chapter 7
Posted by Death_Angel on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
RoleChapter 7 Sindrir the Scrapper Added Wed Feb 11 01:15:42 2015 at level 41:Sindrir reached the mainlands nearly broke. He had run through his family's wealth in just a few short years. He approached the academy with a simple goal in mind: join the Empire and find real power. He carries with him a lot of baggage which has created a few character traits that are worthy of note:
I) Sindrir is driven solely by his envious nature. This impulse makes him both dishonest and disloyal. If he does not feel like he is the strongest, wisest or most poweful in a room he becomes uneasy and seeks to find ways to position himself as such. When he is under the influence of such envy he is likely to lie, to flatter and to exaggerate. A good example of this is his own background, once on the surface he will tell no one that he poisoned his father and brothers like a coward. Rather he will claim to have claimed the Throne justly and dismiss any tale to the contrary as slander.
II) These lies and bold claims are hard for him to keep straight and anyone who is around him long enough will find that he often contradicts himself with his own history and accomplishments. The boldest of these false conquests is a familiar tale, one he originally weaved for his father, where he claims to have slain the great cave viper that adorns his family Sigil in the darkest cavern of the Underdark with nothing but a broadsword.
III) Sindrir is in many ways the same broken, fragile boy that was abused by his father and brothers. EVerything he does is a means to over compensate for that delicate state of mind. He will be the first to take credit for success in a situation but also the first to run if things are not going well. To call him a coward would be an understatement. He takes loses poorly as they serve as a reminder of his lack of worth. A feeling he tries to avoid at any and all costs.
IV) Sindrir will work to reacquire wealth as he feels it's the only way to regain influence. He is however prone to over spending especially if doing so will ease his sense of envy. In this and many other ways you could relate his envious nature to a drug addict. He only finds peace for brief moments where he indulges himself while removing outside stimuli that make him feel insecure.
V) Sindrir sees the Empire as his only option in this life. He has lied to himself to the point that he believes his own nonsense. He truly believes that he is a noble and fit to rule when in reality he is still just a fool. Subconsciously he believes that if he should be crowned Emperor that there would be no one left for him to be envious of and that he will finally find peace.
VI) He worships Enlilth and finds the Destuvians he's met to be intimidating and reminiscent of his brothers and father. He will seek to restore Enlilth's influence in the Halls of the Empire and to stifle the presence of the Destuvians as their protocols and demeanors inflame the envious demon inside of him.

53327, Sindrir's Role Chapter 1
Posted by Death_Angel on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
RoleChapter 1 The House of Hraesson Added Wed Feb 11 01:09:51 2015 at level 41:Deep beneath Thera lies Aran'gird, the home of the Dark Dwarves. In the dog-eat-dog world of Duergaran politics a few families have risen to prominence through the thriving slave trade. One of these families is the House of Hraesson and they are the center of our story.
The House held little influence until late in this Age. By Duergaran standards they do not qualify as nobility by blood lineage but rather through the vast and rapid accumulation of wealth. This is due solely to the patriarch of the House, an exceedingly cruel duergar named Velger. Velger is a warrior who goes to war not to kill, but rather to enslave. He is one of the fiercest warriors of the Underdark and his slaves are regarded as some of the best in the realm. He married four women and sired nine sons and no girls, a fact that quickly added to his growing reputation as the misogynistic residents of Aran'gird came to regard him as blessed by the dark gods.
Velger believed much of these legends himself. He believed he was destined to become King of all the Dark Dwarves. To project this to those around him he chose the sigil of a cave viper, a snake whose venom was so potent that it could even kill the poison resistant duergar, wrapped around a broad- sword which adorned a rune of war and conquest. He wanted the rest of the kingdom to regard him as the deadliest of foes, one who could kill even those thought untouchable. He immediately began plotting how to unite or remove the other noble families and slave traders.
He trusted no one in these plans save for a few of his most trusted Slavemasters and eight of his sons. The ninth son he regarded as lowly as any of the slaves in his pens.

53328, Sindrir's Role Chapter 2
Posted by Death_Angel on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
RoleChapter 2 Sindrir the Worthless Added Wed Feb 11 01:10:44 2015 at level 41:Velger's fourth born son is known as Sindrir. No one knows why Velger never took to Sindrir as he did with his other sons. Physically and mentally he developed no different from his brothers yet Velger always despised the boy. He would make it routine to openly embarrass Sindrir at family and public functions. He often referred to him as "Sindy, the only girl my loins ever gave." He refused to let Sindrir train as the others, relegating him to working with his mother and her sister-wives. When he was finally able to work with his brothers in the slave trade he found his only responsibility was cleaning up blood and other bodily fluids. Soon his brothers began to treat him as poorly as Velger did. These instances scarred Sindrir badly and led to the creation of a battered and broken psyche.
Envy had always been inherent to Sindrir. From the time he was young he was constantly envious of those around him. This included his brothers, especially the half which were older than him as they were Velger's favourites. Soon he found himself jealous of the women as well as they were not beaten as he was. Then he found himself even envious of the slaves because they at least were sold and got to leave the caverns which he related to the Hells themselves.
This envy led Sindrir to constantly try to prove himself. He trained with a wooden sword on his own. He read what books he could find. He studied the political situation that his father was tryin to conquer in his quest for a truly unified Underdark. He thought that if he tried hard enough, he could earn his father's approval and take his rightful place in the House's hiearchy.
This was the first of many foolish delusions to come.

53329, Sindrir's Role Chapter 3
Posted by Death_Angel on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
RoleChapter 3 Sindrir the Fool Added Wed Feb 11 01:11:49 2015 at level 41:In an attempt to garner support for a coup Velger called an assembly in his Hall of other Houses that were loyal to him and also emissaries from Teth Azeleth as he felt support from the Drows would be necessary in removing the royal family of Aran'gird. At the front of the Hall sat Velger at the middle of his table and four of his sons to his left and four to the right, all dressed in ornate battle armour. The presentation involved was very militant and it impressed (or frightened) all the other Duergar families in attendance. After everyone had feasted on warg meat and copious amounts of ale Velger began to speak bluntly about his plans.
One of the duergar in attendance was another slave trader named Harstra. Velger had long questioned his loyalty but he needed the trader's vast resources for a coup attempt. Harstra was, in terms of Velger's plans, the wild card. Harstra yelled loudly from his table, interrupting Velger: "Ya know, I can't help but wonder: who tha 'ell made you King? Ya gonna hold this little party and expect all these great warriors to jus' bend knees to you because ya dressed up all yer lads like little generals?"
The entire Hall hushed into a still quiet that was disturbed by the snickering of a few scattered men. Velger opened his mouth to retort but before he could shout his words the silence was broken by Sindrir, who had been watching from side, near the kitchens. Sindrir gave an impassioned, yet short speech about the great deeds of his father and then made a false claim: "My father has even slain the greatest viper, Slitheria!" this was in reference to a legend of a giant snake which at the depths of the Underdark's tunnels. None of the present Age had ever seen the beast in the flesh let alone killed it.
When Sindrir finished the Hall remained silent before loud laughter erupted everywhere around him. Harstra yelled over the ruckus: "Ya! Sure, he should be king cuz he killed a non-existin' fargin' snake! That's where that sigil come from, lad?!" he exclaimed while pointing at the large symbol which adorned everything from chairs to banners in the Hall. Sindrir looked at his father and saw a familiar look of hatred. His eldest brother stomped down from the front of the Hall and drug Sindrir out by his beard. "Ya god-damned fool, ya be lucky if Pa don't take yer shit lickin' tongue." With a swift kick the noble born Sindrir found himself in a slave pen. He curled up in the corner and listened to the party continue and then conclude.
Hours after, perhaps even a full day, he was still in the pen. He had lost all hope and ambition, then he heard a voice speak from the shadows.

RoleChapter 4 Sindrir the Traitor Added Wed Feb 11 01:13:10 2015 at level 41:The voice spoke with a thick, Drowish accent: "Tell me boy, do you hate your family as they hate you?" The slender Drow stepped from the shadows up to the bars of the pen and spoke once more: "Of course you do. How could you not? Then tell me this: would you really like to see him rewarded with the Throne of the Slavemasters?" sindrir thought for a short moment and then replied: "Only thing that basterd deserves is a shallow grave." The Drow smiled, her teeth a bright white which stood out against the darkness. "Then you have a friend in us, boy. We will be in touch."
Hours later Sindrir was released from the pen by his brother. "Ya damn lucky Pa smoothed that over or it'd be yer head on that pike." Sindrir looked over by the gates and saw the familiar face of Harstra looking back at him. Behind his head were four more pikes with the heads of other diners from the night before. The brute force had gotten Velger the support he wanted for his devious plot. What he didn't account for was that the crafty Drow did not truly support his aims. Their allegiance was a lie.
Sindrir was again visited by the same Drow in the dead of night in his chambers. She delivered him ten vials of a pulsating, thick green liquid. "The King of Aran'gird appreciates your cooperation, boy. He has said that when this is over you will inherit all your fathers wealth. Just put in their drinks and the future belongs to you." with that the Drow was gone and Sindrir was left with the decision of his short life. Would he kill his own blood or live the rest of his days as a worthless welp? As he struggled with his options he was interrupted by his brother: "Sindy, get yer arse into the kitchen with the other women and make us some fargin' food."
Sindrir nodded and hid the vials in his cloak. He delivered several rounds of drinks to his father and brothers, waiting until they good and drunk before he slipped the venom into their drinks. The harsh poison stained the pale shade of their ale but the drunken lot did not take notice. They drank it down swiftly and Sindrir watched with anxious anticipation. His younger brothers were the first to show symptoms, then his elders and then finally his father.

RoleChapter 5 Sindrir the Traitor Added Wed Feb 11 01:13:34 2015 at level 41:Soon the Hall was a mess of bloody vomit and writhing bodies. The venom of the dreaded cave viper was enough to kill the young duergar outright but his elder brothers were merely frozen in silent terror. His father was still mobile, limping from son to son, gasping for air.
Sindrir did not think he just acted. Walking to his father he reached down and pulled his father's sword from his sheath. He then staked his three surviving brothers in front of his father. Velger made a lunge for him but Sindrir easily evaded it. The sprawling Velger crawled to his make-shift throne and pulled himself to his seat. He looked up to see Sindrir standing before him with the sword: "My son." he said, with a smirk. The first kind words he had spoken to Sindrir would also be the last as Sindrir sunk the blade deep into his father's chest, cutting through his black heart. Velger died on the Throne of his House, just days from reaching the Throne of the Kingdom.
Sindrir turned and saw the women of the House and a few servants. He pulled his father's corpse from the chair by his beard and took his place as the patriarch of the House of Hraesson. He looked at one of his father's wives and said: "Well, wench. where's my dinner?"

53332, Sindrir's Role Chapter 6
Posted by Death_Angel on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
RoleChapter 6 Sindrir the King Added Wed Feb 11 01:14:38 2015 at level 41:What followed were months of chaotic terror. Sindrir began to over compensate for the years of living like a slave. He took on the role of his father (without the political aspirations) and spent massive amounts of wealth on furthering his own image. He even took his father's wives as his, including his own mother. He eagerly betrayed the other Houses which conspired against the King and found himself without any alliances. Even the Drows who he foolishly envisioned a future with had left him to his current vices.
While he was spending the House's vast wealth he was also neglecting the source of that wealth. He wasn't the warrior his father had been and he had no training to acquire new slaves. The other slave traders had no desire to work with him as they simply desired his father's territory which they took without a fight. He beat one of his wives to death in a drunken rage when she took a familiar, condesending tone with him and soon found that another of his harrem was pregnant with a child.
Sindrir didn't notice his dwindling wealth and influence. For the first time in his life his envy was sated by success. However much like any addiction the cravings soon began to creep back in. The first case was when he saw the other slave traders amassing even more wealth, which just forced him to spend faster to keep pace. This was pointless however as they saw as a weak traitor who only had what he did because of the Drows. He didn't realize it but his time was coming to an end in the Underdark.
After selling the last of his father's slaves, a pack of wild felar, he met a man that would change his life forever: a powerful Blade in the Imperial army and loyal servant of Destuvius. He appeared as an imposing general with polished mithril armor and a masterful tongue. Once again the pangs of envy began to ravage Sindrir's soul. He became obsessed with commanding the respect that the Blade had. He went home and took the last of his wealth and without a word to "his" wives he left them in utter poverty and headed toward the surface.

RoleChapter 8 Sindrir the Scrapper Added Wed Feb 11 01:16:11 2015 at level 41:VII) He hates women and views them as subservient to men. Much like his father he desires many wives and many sons. He does not think about nor claim the child he sired with his father's wife. This, ironically, makes him more like his father than he realizes. A theme we will see continue as he advances.

53335, Sindrir's Role Chapter 9
Posted by Death_Angel on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
RoleChapter 9 Sindrir the Conspirator Added Wed Feb 11 01:17:11 2015 at level 41:Sindrir's time in the Empire has been as fruitful as it has been predictable. Surrounded by some of the greatest warriors in the realm the envious Sindrir has found little in the way of peace of mind. He has already begun planning on how to remove those stronger or better suited for Imperial life than him. This began with his bloodoath, which he requested from the Shadow Lord Piktazu. He found the presence of the Shadows to be much less intimidating. Aside from their wealth he found little to be envious of.
This attraction to the other Sects has extended to the Blacks as Sindrir has formed a partnership with Ychram. Sindrir appreciates Ychram's bloodlust but also finds him to be a simple, single-minded murderer. This (and most) simplicity is what Sindrir desires the most in comrades as it makes them easy to control, predict and ultimately surpass.
In his usual cowardice Sindrir has been singing the praises of his newfound adversaries. He praises the Empress at every turn but secretly despises her as the source of true power in Thera. This is not personal as much as professional. Sindrir would be at odds with anyone in that authority as the dynamic reminds him of his relationship with his father.
The problem with simplistic comrades is they often go off script. Ychram voiced his opposition to the Empress and is now an Anathema. Sindrir, for the time, continues to work with him. Hoping that they can find a way to bring a new Emperor to the Throne. One that can be more easily controlled. This secret alliance is growing slowly, but it's a ship that Sindrir won't hesistate to abandon if it starts to take on water.
Despite all his insecurities, the deceptive world of Imperial politics is where he is most comfortable.

53336, Sindrir's Role Chapter 10
Posted by Death_Angel on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
RoleChapter 10 Sindrir the Punished Added Wed Feb 11 01:17:44 2015 at level 41:Sindrir has grown more vocal of his dissent against the Empress. He cites a decree which contradicts Imperial Law as the foundation for his actions but in reality he doesn't care about any such protocols. As a matter of fact he would prefer that the Emperor has the power to change things on a whim as that is a weapon he would like to wield as Emperor one day himself. He continues his association with Ychram but he is even more cautious about obscuring the alliance. This fell apart one day when he walked into the Anathema fighting a Paladin. He was sucked into combat by an iceball and could have slain Ychram with a single strike but instead opted to flee. An Imperial Citizen, Iulimato, noticed this and reported the strange decision to the War Master Altariel.
When confronted with this Sindrir claimed stupidity. He bumbled about how he wasn't ready for combat and wanted to be magically enhanced before trying to throw his shoulder into the Anathema. Altariel believed this, but was not so quick to excuse Sindrir's loose tongue on the subject of the Empress. "How dare you speak ill of the Empress in this Hall?" she asked with strained enthusiasm. "Because o' the laws on the wall." Sindrir replied, referencing a Blade protocol of removing the Emperor if they are not a Blade. "You will speak of it no more." she replied. Sindrir nodded but then Altariel asked a follow up question about his motivations. When Sindrir answered she told him he had been "silenced" and demoted him from his standing as an Imperial Blade. She then whispered that the walls had ears and never to speak of politics in the Hall. Whatever respect Sindrir may of had for Altariel was lost at that moment. He began plotting for a future that did not include her.
His demotion was short lived. After shedding more blood the self- described "Undefeated Champion of the Blade Hall" was promoted back to his old standing and then later to that of an Elite Blade. His festering envy grows along with his reputation.

RoleChapter 11 Sindrir the Anathema Added Wed Feb 11 01:18:35 2015 at level 41:Sindrir woke one day to find himself an Anathema. He immediately assumed that his moves against the Empress had been discovered. To his surprise he found that no one on the council, including Reegun herself, could explain his current standing. The best he could piece together was that it came as an order from Lord Destuvius himself. He also noticed that Altariel had been demoted. All he could piece together was that he was being punished for disoebying an order from the War Master while remaining faithful to Reegun. This confused him if for no other reason than he despised both of them.
He was surprised by the reaction to his exile. Members from each Sect reached out and told Sindir that they would not hunt him. Even a member of the Nexus offered her support if he wished to grow in the ranks. Sindir had no such desire however. He would claw his way back into the Sect Hall or he would return home to try live out his days in obscurity and poverty in Aran'gird.
His prayers to Destuvius were swiftly answered the following day. He was told that Reegun claimed that Sindrir had told her personally of Altariel contradictory order. Of all the crimes and sins that Sindrir is guilty of, this simply wasn't one. He explained his situation to Destuvius and soon found the Lord to be as merciful as he is wise. Sindrir was allowed back into the ranks of the Hall but not as an Elite. A fact that still drives Sindrir to envious angst as he sees others take his place. Namely the Blade known as Szeven who he regards as a fool.
Destuvius' mercy was not without a price. He's been tasked with taking down the Shadow Lord. This would have been difficult for Sindrir before his exile as he regarded the Shadow Lord as his only reliable ally in the Palace. Now, however, he knows that Reegun's knowledge of Altariel's order could only of come from one place: the Shadow Lord himself. He feels betrayed by Piktazu's bold move and will seek to see him ruined along the way to Sindrir's inevitable rise to the Throne.
With the death of Ychram and foolishness of Piktazu he now regards Tallith and Qedkub as his conspirators moving forward.

53338, Sindrir's Role Chapter 12

RoleChapter 12 Sindrir the Marked Added Tue Apr 14 03:19:38 2015 at level 51:As the years have pressed on Sindrir has accomplished much. He, along with a large portion of the Imperial Army, ventured into the depths of the Nine Hells. Here he saw first hand the Infernal glory of the Prince's Kingdom. When the fateful moment finally came that he laid eyes upon the Prince himself he had no choice but to bend his knee. In the Prince he saw every quality of which he was envious. To be offered a piece of his power was simply an offer he could not refuse. Then later, the burning mark of the Devil still hot on his flesh, he stood over the corpse of Tiamat, carving off some of her scales which he carries with him now. These great feats coupled with his reputation on the battlefield have done little to stop the delusional fabrications of exaggerated self-worth in his own mind. As far as he is concerned he slew Tiamat. He conquered the Hells. He rules Thera.
Which brings us to the next hurdle in the saga of the Viper of Aran'gird. He is currently locked in present standing as an Elite in the Blade Hall. The War Master Kregan seems to be going no where and Xeneth's Drow blood will make him far outlive Sindrir who is growing older by the day. Even if he did have a route to the Throne it would be difficult to justify backstabbing within his own Hall. It seems that even the lowest, greediest of Duergar have some standards.
His new plan is simple. To draw Kregan as close as he can. To begin positioning her rise to the Throne in the case that something should happen to Xeneth. Over all he is not as envious of Kregan as he is most and he certainly doesn't hate her, as he does most. This is due to the fact that she seems to geninuely appreciate his works. Her kind and complimentary words tend to soothe his inner beast. If she is simply manipulating him then she is doing it perfectly. He will act so that all others both within the Blade Hall and outside it see them as one. A powerful duo who will define the future of the Empire.
In addition he continues to refer to himself with grandiose and borderline ridiculous titles of nobility such as: "The Crowned Prince of the Seven Houses of Aran'gird, Champion of the Blade Sect Hall and Protector of the Emperor's Realm."

RoleChapter 13 Sindrir the King in Exile Added Thu Jun 11 09:32:17 2015 at level 51:Sindrir has once again found himself an Anathema to the Empire. He was cast out for questioning a demotion after he gave the Fortress' Orb to the Grinning Skull Village as he could not place it within the Throne room due to losing the Codex while slaying the Watcher. Sindrir has been demoted in the past, even cast out entirely before. He crawled his way back each time, biting his tongue and doing what was expected of him. He had, at least partially, swallowed his envy and forced himself to find some satisfaction in his post as an Elite.
However with time, that envy began to fester. He despised the Emperor who he never saw. He began to hate the fickle High Priest who serves several Masters. He even began to hope for Kregan, the only person he truly values, to die so he could move beyond his perpetual state of stagnation. When he was confronted for giving the Orb to the Orcs, something he (and Kregan for that matter) had done a hundred times, that envy boiled over. The verbal exchange that followed saw him thrown from the Palace.
Now free from the shackles of the hierarchy of weakness that has become the Empire, he has a simple goal: Raise an Army of Anathema to do what the Council failed to do: remove Xeneth. In a way Sindrir always knew this day would come, since his days with Ychram he has been making strategic alliances outside of the Empire in case it ever came to this. He now rallies Orcs, Villagers, Anathema and even the Spire to aid him in his war for the Throne. He plans to show that he is the only one worthy of the title of Emperor but for now he is content with his newest grandiose, self-imposed title: The King in Exile.

RoleChapter 14 Sindrir the Emperor Added Fri Jul 10 22:05:53 2015 at level 51:The long, blood civil war was ending. As Xeneth's support crumbled around him Sindrir made an uncharacteristic offer: drink poison, the same blend Sindrir used on his father and brothers so many years earlier, and die a Blade or lose the vote and be wiped from the history pages. "Do the right thing", Sindrir wrote. Xeneth did do the right thing, as did his lapdog Zhabala. But Sindrir is a liar, a thief without proper training. He still intends to wipe both Reegun and Xeneth's name from official record.
Upon the votes completion Sindrir was confronted by Lord Destuvius and ordered to slay Kregan. This was not an easy decision for the fledgling Emperor as Kregan is perhaps the only person in life he's ever held in any sort of regard. As he struggled with this decision Kregan chose to act first. Lunging herself onto Sindrir's sword, pulling the blade clean through her abdomen. "It is how it must be." She said. And so Sindrir finished her, but not before promising to right this wrong. He then told the Lord of the Twin Honours that he had made a powerful enemy. The Lord expressed his surprise that Sindrir killed the Anathema, his former mentor. "Many men have doubted me in the past. Look where they stand now."
And so he sat upon the Throne for the first time. He looked about the room and for the first time in life the envy was gone. He was not jealous of anyone he saw. He did not have that burning, uncomfortable inadequacy in his stomach. As that three century old discomfort subsided it was quickly replaced with a new emotion: Fear. Unbridled, cripppling fear.
He'd been through the Hells, more than once. He'd seen their darkest corners, their greatest suffering. All he'd done to reach this point, what would be the cost? This fear shook him, it made him stray from battle, especially fair combat. It made him obsessed with using magic and any other means to extend his life. To prolong his mortal reign. To avoid the Hells.

RoleChapter 15 Sindrir the Changing Added Sun Jul 12 23:02:14 2015 at level 51:Since the start of the civil war subtle changes became more prominent with Sindrir's actions. For one he began to speak clearly, even eloquently. Long gone were the days of "fargin" and "basterds". Secondly he became even more calculating than he was in the past, seeing often four steps ahead instead of two. Lastly his cruelty began to shift from a purely physical act to mental as well.
All of these changes had one common source: they began when Sindrir met Daphedee, an Elf of the Inn of the Eternal Star. From their first meeting he could feel the Devil's Mark burn upon his flesh. He knew from the very first moment that they locked eyes that the Prince wanted her soul and that he wanted her flesh.
Sindrir devoted nearly equal time to subverting Daphedee, now the High Herald as he did overthrowing Xeneth. He saw this union as having two additional benefits: 1) It would bring the Inn under the influence of the Empire and serve as an example of how Sindrir's Empire would spread and even acquire civilization under it's wing. As an extension of this it also proves that all have a place in the Empire, even those of the Light, so long as they do not worship at rebel altars or serve the outlawed cabals. 2) He learned that an undead being known as Davarrah desires the Torch of Shadows which the inn keeps. He feels that he could perhaps barter with this being for a longer life, lending back to his paranoia over death and what awaits him in the Hells.
After ascending to the Throne he presented Daphedee with a choice: swear an oath to his House and essentially become his property or have the full might of the Empire called down upon her Inn, her beloved city of Darsylon and everyone she's ever cared for. Daphedee chose the former and swore the oath to the House of Hraesson, sealing such with a deep cut across her palm.
After this symbolic act Sindrir informed her of something more binding: the two were to be married.
