Cabaq Freeman the Claw of the Jaguar, Marshall of the Fortress
DescriptionA stocky calico Felar is here. A trinity of oranges stripe down his back, fore paws, and to the tip of his tail just before it ends in solid white. A pair of glazed over beady green emeralds have a curious gaze. A bright pink rhinarium stands out among his maw looking very slick. Long, coarse whiskers fire out to both sides nearly a foot or so. There is a vague but familiar odor of jungle rot on some of his belongings. the claws of this tabby appear to be solid and quite sharp. A long, slender tail that constantly twitches and sways. 51640, Cabaq's Role Chapter 11
Posted by Death_Angel on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
RoleChapter 11 Marshall Freemans Leadership Added Mon Oct 13 22:57:36 2014 at level 51:. . Cabaq is getting older with a maturation perhaps nothing like . his younger self. Years of reflection, dedication, and outright . condemnation has not only protected his purity, not only preserved . his purity, and not only has nutured his purity, but has brought . him into a place that few faithful ever truly find. . . The applicants of the Fortress, future Squires, Cabaq looks to . like a parent does their children and in readying these one . day and even now soldiers of the Light, he truly wants to share . his own wisdom with them so that they will be better armed against . the impurities of the world. Any who seek to bear the Mantle of . Squire, he feels, need to be kept close and welcomed. A single . recommendation of a brother or sister, and what is evolving to be . is a demanding recollection of instances when purity was threatened. . This question comes in many forms and Cabaq has begun to ask his . applicants as he brings them in to further their understanding of . what the Fortress is, it represents, and how they can hone their . lives to nurture it as a sword is honed to a stone. . . With that being said, should any forsake the ideas of reflection . and fall into a bloodlust on the battlefield, seeking it for . pleasure and not neccessity, they risk crumbling their mantle. . The thrill of combat is to be embraced. As a Jaguar, he knows . that this welcoming of overcoming the enemy is a fine line . between that and enjoying taking the last breath of one. Just . in kind to the roles of the Brigade, this lesson must be clear . to his applicants and Squires, and Maran. . . Humility continues to be the most fierce weapon to defend the . impurities of Pride, Lust, and Anger. Even now with most of . Cabaqs elders gone those few that remain constantly remind him . of this importance in many ways. . . On his Marshall appointment, barking orders is not going to . happen. There is nothing Cabaq will ask or expect of his own . people that he does not do or have done himself. Granted, the . suggestions given by him when formally speaking with Squires . regarding situations are humble and offering, make no mistake . that a stern word can be shed when need be. As great and . successful even to have risen to the shoes of Dolindar, whom . did Cionadh, even more Cabaq braces his heart, mind, and body. . . The Trinity is at it's greatest risk now than ever, as the . evils of Power will become to question his very will. Keeping . to his goals, and keeping to his dedication to his people, he . will but only do his best. . .

51639, Cabaq's Role Chapter 10

RoleChapter 10 The Life of Maran. Thoughts on consequence of being the Lights weapon. Added Thu Sep 25 14:24:45 2014 at level 51:. Structure, order, rules to live by, these are things that have become . inherently of the most importance to Cabaqs day to day life. Reflection . after action, meditation before prayer, planning before battle... . . An entire lifetime Cabaq has been a soldier of some sort. An alley . brawl here or there perhaps but Cabaq has Never intentionally broken . the Law before an on duty Magistrate for any purpose. Yet, in his . own comfort of Galadon and taking for granted the powers of the . Eyes of Flame, Cabaq struck a necromancer Magistrate and earned his . first warrant. Bearing the warrant like a mantle, he took after . this necromancer with tenacity taking him to the tooth and nail. . . After the battle ended the corpse of Lithera lay before Cabaq . in the middle of Galadons main street for all to see. Assuming . victory over evil, Cabaq made his way out of town before the . guards got to him. . . Reflecting on this so called victory Cabaq began to truly become . troubled. As he teleported about the lands he would often land . in Voralia where his young elven friend Sivant takes the duty . of Magistrate. Immediately Cabaq began to see this consequence . of his actions. Never would he think himself wrong to slay that . wicked wizard as he did, however, did he gain victory? In the . death of the necromancer, all forces of the Lawful will now . be seeking to kill Cabaq. Elves, Storm giants, friends, many . innocent people are now put in harms way because of Cabaqs . actions, and this is very troubling. . . Never again will Cabaq strike another within a protected city, . never again will he disregard the safety of those in the future . to simply take the life of a single wretched soul. . . This consequence of harming the Light, or even bringing the . Light to fight itself is far, far too much to bear again. . Cabaq learned an invaluable lesson of patience this day.

51638, Cabaq's Role Chapter 9

RoleChapter 9 The plight of Pora and my intention to see him through it. Added Tue Sep 16 12:35:55 2014 at level 51:. . Since the time that Cabaq has realized his own lack of humility . and begun to seek to change that for the better of himself and . the Fortress, he has taken a keen interest into a particular . paladin. A paladin that disgraced his guild with an act that . before Cabaq's trinity, he himself had done in the past. . . No one is perfect, certainly not Cabaq by any means. However, . because of his rash response to Pora initially, shunning him . as he did... Cabaq became enlightened much so by the words . and wisdom of Marshall Dolindar, and the Elder Prophet Keara. . Taking his reflection and thoughts to Baerinika herself, . it became clear to Cabaq that not only should he have not . shunned this staying paladin but he should hold him even . closer. . Just as Cabaq's Trinity is designed to preserve, nurture, . and further his own purity he has taken to heart the . wisdom of his elders. Pora needs to be mentored, nurtured, . and helped along his path. The Light that still shines in . him will only shine brighter with the proper dedication. . . After speaking in long detail with Pora at the shrine of . Baerinika, Cabaq has taken a different view and approach . to Pora's possibility of becoming a Squire. Believing in him . and wanting to help him succeed, Cabaq took himself before . the shrine of Whiysdan to speak on Pora's behalf. . . What happens now is up to Pora, but Cabaq has made it his . mission to mentor and nurture this young adventurer so . that darkness cannot creep into him while he faces his . penance to the guild.

51637, Cabaq's Role Chapter 8

RoleChapter 8 What being a Squire has meant and taught over the years. Added Sat Sep 13 20:00:14 2014 at level 51:Time has been teaching Cabaq valuable lessons over these years. Some of the most important were lessons about himself, his humility, and expectations of those around him. Perhaps it was his military life when he was young, or his introverted nature focusing so much into studying magic but Cabaq has grown to see the faults in himself. Perhaps the most dangerous of anything he faces would be to ignore them.
After discussing his concerns with the Captain about his fears of becoming as blood thirsty as the wicked he fights in order to win over them in battle more than he has. The frustrations and toils of battle keep Cabaq in constant question of his intentions and righteousness. Taking up the creed of the Maran has truly honed his perception of himself to yes, battle fiercely when confronting evil, but to remain himself and not to lose track of his purity and dedication while engaging in these battles.
Even more, pride has crept up on him and allowed Cabaq to not see past his own expectations of other Squires to the point there was a bit of animosity. After speaking in detail about the virtue of Humility with the Marshall, he has learned of its fruitions as he remembers times that he too was humbled. Also, how to embrace this humility among younger, more novice squires in a way to produce results and reflect on the Maran.
Lastly, it is becoming ever more apparent to Cabaq that his journey is only just beginning within the Fortress. The faith that has been reciprocated from Light for Cabaqs dedication is unmatched but only by the Lady herself. As he is maturing, evolving, Cabaq continues to renew his dedication to the Light, to his purity.

RoleChapter 7 The sharpened Points of the Trinity. Added Thu Sep 4 18:46:49 2014 at level 51:The Heart loves, bleeds, gives and ends life.
Blessed is our heart that we bleed for the weak, we bleed for their woes, and we bleed for their suffering. Praise be to the Lady of the Mist, the heart beats with life, faster to preserve it, yet faster to take it. Your faith in me is my strength, my faith in you is my dedication. Preserve and evolve the youth of the land, let Her guidance be felt. The minds of the children are the leaders of the future.
The Mind is mortality, conscious and responsible.
Blessed our thoughts, guide our intentions. Steel your anger, your grudge, and let the blades, tooth, and nail that the Lady bestows be and only be your fight among men. The battlefields are necessary yet you will fight the memories of them even in peace. Forgive those that you can for wrong doings. Never forgive evil for the Lady of the Mists will judge them on Her spear. Purity is found when peace with yourself is constant.
Your body is My temple.
Preserve yourself, entirely. Those sentient forces of evil are to be destroyed and unmolested in any form. Their taint so great, gold, armor, weaponry, you will never pick the corpses of those we fight. Alcohol is to be rejected, and openly discouraged. To some cultures respect will be shown but be clear the value of a clear, unfettered mind. Artifacts of great evil among those in company will be instantly rejected. There is no tolerance for peace with evil, ever. Should the Light be assaulted in any form, from anyone, strike them where they stand and let your body shine the Light of the Sun!

51635, Cabaq's Role Chapter 6
Posted by Death_Angel on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
RoleChapter 6 Training Complete, Duty now Active. Added Thu Sep 4 18:45:33 2014 at level 51:Years ago, many years ago, Cabaq brought himself before the immaculate Lady Baerinika, and impressed upon her his dedication. His Trinity, Her Purity, the journey of a soldier within the Brigade, and the fight against as well the defense against evil in many forms.
The Tenets of kept Cabaq grounded, emotionally protected and genuinely involved among the Fortress, like it or not.
This Trinity has been but a base, a foundation of what is to become. This structure of life, in the eyes of Cabaq very similar to the Paladin Code and being given, ordered, divinely enlightened to, this Trinity has not created a condescending nature but a humble, and even more passive nature.
The throws of War are inevitable against evil. War will be had as long as evil exists in the lands the Light shines on. Forsaking and seeing little good from combat in the light of purity, but, knowing the necessity of this ferocity to face and overtake evil, Cabaq has enlightened his Trinity with the Lady of the Mists. Her faith in him, as his in Hers, has enlivened his spirit and shone bright as a rising sun across an open plains with clear skies.
His duty, and dedication both have been reborn with the death of the Orc Chieftain, and the Elite Imperial Black. These icons of evil that have been brought to the tooth and nail of retribution have not pleased Cabaq, but have enlivened him to his pledge of clergy, his pledge of duty, and purified from him fear, envy, and cowardice.
Enthralled with the glory of courage, bestowed with the power of combat to face his enemies, clear as the sun shines light, Cabaq has learned that only, Only when he sheds the blood and flesh of evil does the Trinity shine most. Faith, not blood lust is what enlivens Cabaq. Evil is to be, will be, must be destroyed.

RoleChapter 5 The Trinity of the Initiate Added Mon Aug 25 19:32:01 2014 at level 26:These tenets of the trinity are now Cabaqs lifelong dedication and will be the staple of all his being. After being visited by the Misty Ghost, Her divine influence has given him these rules to both foster and enhance Purity. Self discovery has lead him to take up and accepted these tenets as the core of existence. The first the most important and takes precedence. The third is the least important only in that the body is temporary, but the soul can be forever. This leaves the second as the most difficult for Cabaq must battle himself in this trinity of living combat to remain Pure. Each Tenet stands alone but equally encompasses the others.
Tenet I: Pure of Heart . . Spread the Light and all its greatness to any . that would hear it, or ask to. Purity in Heart is . defined by sharing over greed, forgiveness over . hate, precision over passion. The Light shines . much brighter to those innocent many when their . days are dark. In compassion to the plight of the . innocent you will harden yourself against the . enemies of Purity. Open your heart and shine . the Light. . . Tenet II: Pure of Mind . . Bloodshed is not to be enjoyed, or to revel in. . There is a thrill of combat in the midst of it . because you are fighting for the Light. Doing . Her work is its own reward and victory. Taking . of life, evil foes is not to be taken lightly. . Protect your emotions from all sides when you . engage in combat or understand that battle is . necessary, not a pleasure. Vindictive thoughts . and grudges will always try you as you fight . the many forces of evil. . . Tenet III: Pure of Body . . Reject pleasures of the flesh, temptations of . indulgence. The path of Purity requires great . perception and reflection at all times. Items . of evil craft or make, merchants of dark deed, . evil in all its incarnations will be met with . disdain. Do not even keep company with those . that would adorn such things for any peaceful . barter with evil, is evil itself and taints . the soul. Tainted fetters of the lands are to . be dealt with as tainted souls, Destruction. . .

RoleChapter 4 Embracing Purity Added Mon Aug 25 19:28:18 2014 at level 26:It has been quite some time since this young Felar set out from Blackclaw to find his way. His path has always been basked in the Light, even in his darkest hours. It is this Light that has called to him. Calling to him to use it, to pierce the darkness and shine bright as the sun for all to revel in.
This calling, this enlightenment, stems from his battles against evil, and hate. Even in victory, the thrill of combat, the blood spatter of his enemies, all these things are even more dangerous than the foes he faces, for the battle in his heart is the greatest. Learning more about himself Cabaq realizes that war for personal gain, for pleasure, or simply for the sake of doing it, will never be righteous but will taint only himself. To combat these inner demons as Cabaq becomes bloodied among the battlefields, he brought himself before the Lady Baerinika. His purity might be preserved should he realize the bigger battle, the preservation of inner purity. Should Cabaq lose this he would lose himself.

51631, Cabaq's Role Chapter 2
Posted by Death_Angel on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
RoleChapter 2 Answering the Call of the Light Added Thu Aug 21 15:53:07 2014 at level 14:Twice now, Cabaq has been attacked by aggressors for reasons of hate. First, a dark-elf necromancer. This was the first person Cabaq has killed since his enlistment. Unsanctioned, he pressed his defense into attack and slew the evil man where he stood before his orcish companion. This didn't feel... Good, however, it felt right.
The second, a wood-elf warrior. He met this man in the Planar Sanctum. After what seemed to be a cordial visit, not to mention warning him about that very same necromancer being in the area, the warrior lunged on Cabaq as soon as he revealed himself to him. Now, Cabaq has been deeply researching this magical area, too he was ready now, bloodied in the past by taking the necromancers life, he slain the warrior outright, barely taking a wound. This kill did not feel good, and too, did not feel right. Cabaq knew it was that guy or him, and it was that guy that wanted to kill him. There was no where to run, the wood-elf closed him in and committed the fight in the bedroom. He forgave the warrior for his actions, and hoped that would bring him some comfort during his time of retribution in his incorporeal state.
Killing evil, or those so blinded with hate like the battlerager applicant, should never be enjoyed. Cabaq realizes though that this calling has brought him into the circle of battle whether he likes it or not. Perhaps his journey may very well be in combat then, against evil, against hate.
If not with the wand, the dagger, but at the least with kindness. As Cabaq's studies continue, his core research will be to defend the Light, and then to attack the Darkness like a rising sun.

RoleChapter 1 Leaving the Guard, heading to Galadon Added Tue Aug 19 22:05:59 2014 at level 1:A very quiet person, keeping to himself most of the time. There is a curiosity that drives him, an inquisitive yearning to explore the possibilities of his mind and body.
You see, many years have been spent in servitude to the guard of Blackclaw. As part of his citizenship he was to spend the minimal enlistment as one of the grunts. Fending of the assaulting wargs and ugruks, bloodshed and the thrill of battle are no strangers.
His commander was very cruel however, and would torture the prisoners of war. Seeing the commander as no better than the enemy for succumbing to such brutal and ruthless actions, he knew then that this would not be his path. The journey into the elightenment of Order, the Spire, so on, is too filled with people like his commander. People too caught up in their greed, their evil, their selves.
Leaving Blackclaw, perhaps for the last time, he gathers his journals, scrolls, and basic equipment and sets out for Galadon to find his own path, his own journey.
