Description

Before you stands a tall, thin man. His hair hangs long past his shoulders,
tied neatly behind him, stark black with silver flecked throughout. Silvery
gray eyes stare out from beneath a heavy brow and he has a small beard of
silvery gray hair. He carries on him several weapons it and a thin black
leather book near his waist. A long scar crosses his left cheek and his skin
is a dark gray color, very unusual looking for an otherwise human looking
man. About his neck hangs a small silver pendant bearing a symbol of the paw
of some animal.

Summary

- Dakraln Rokaine is a young man filled with immense hatred. He has never
learned to like anyone, or love anyone, besides his master and his mother.
If he gains the respect of another, he is fiercely loyal, but to all others
he would watch them burn without blinking.

- He greatly enjoys wealth and power. Secretly he wishes the strength he did
not have in his youth, to save his mother, to save himself.

- He is very paranoid, especially of human males and will not trust them
unless he knows them well. He prefers to spend time by himself.

- He enjoys destruction in all its forms. He has no place in this world so
he will burn it down.

- He believes in knowledge as the root to power and wishes to learn more of
the Scions of the Eternal Night, though he knows little of about them now.

Chapter 4

A New Master, A New Name

When Dakraln joined the anti-paladin's guild he was given a master to serve
and renamed Rokaine after his master, Betrok Rokaine. Betrok was not a harsh
man but very old and very wise, quite soft spoken for a human and quite
intelligent. He first taught Dakraln magic, initially just the words then
later the movements and incantations. He taught Dakraln of the planes and of
the heavens and hell and the beings both great and terrible that lived there.
as Dakraln became stronger, Betrok taught him swordplay and combat.

Finally when Betrok's aging body began to catch up with him, he spoke to
Dakraln. He told him life was too short to spend studying and that if he
wishes true strength and victory, he must go seek it. He must go out into
the world and conquer it, one man at a time, until he built his empire.Just
before his body gave out, Betrok pulled a small chain from his pocket and
handed it to Dakraln. He said, "Take this child, take this and remember..."

"Remember what, master?" begged the boy.

"...Shortly after I bought you, after your mother told me the story, I went
to your village. I spoke with the villagers posing as a paladin seeking the
murderer of the child...I spoke and I found out the names of the boys that
survived and where they lived...and I killed their families in front of
them."

"...And the last one whose mother I'd slain, I tore this off her neck."

"...Take it and remember, those who stand against you will die.Those who
betray you will die. Those whom don't accept you, those who dare confront
you...they will die, their families will die and vengeance will be yours."

Tears welled up within Dakraln's eyes as his master spoke these words and all
he could think to say was, "I shall remember...master."After Betrok died,
Dakraln made his way to the great academy to further his studies...

All Good Things...

Caitlyn gathered him up and despite his protests, packing a bag of provisions
they ran as fast as they could to the desert city. Before Dakraln knew what
had happened she had sold him to the anti-paladin's guild. In her rage she
decided no longer would Dakraln hide from the humans but instead, learn
strength enough to destroy them. As they carried away Dakraln, struggling,
she turned away from them...walked down a dark alley and slit her throat.
There she died in the gutter amongst the refuse.

Curiousity

As a boy though, Dakraln soon grew curious of the world around him. He could
not be contained to a simple cottage forever and he tired of hiding whenever
any passed by their dwelling or came upon their stoop to barter with his
mother.He ventured out on his own during the night of a festival within the
village honoring the nature gods...he watched from afar as the villagers ate
and drank and laughed and played music.Great joy welled within his heart
and a sorrow deep within him that he could not join in.

It was not long however, until he was discovered. Some teenage boys had
stolen themselves a jug of firebreather and stumbled upon Dakraln on their
way to drink it. His age being only ten did not stop them, as they snarled
in disgust at him and began to mock him. Indignant, Dakraln cursed them
back, which only ired them until they balled their fists and began to beat
upon Dakraln. Caitlyn noticed him missing and had ran out looking for him
and heard his cries as they began to beat upon him. One was so bold as to
produce a small wood carving knife and...holding the boy's face, raked it
upon his cheek drawing blood as he laughed.

Caitlyn cried out in anger and rushed to the side of her boy, fiercely
clawing and striking at the young men. They overwhelmed her though but the
boy with the knife dropped it in the scuffle as they began to kick her and
beat her in the stomach. Rage welled within Dakraln, his eyes turned red
with blood and his head throbbed with furor. He gathered up the knife and
with a scream, stabbed the boy who had scarred him. Over and over he drove
the small blade into the boy's face and throat until his whole body was
soaked in the boy's blood. The other boys ran off, screaming and Caitlyn,
wounded but still alive, knew they had to flee before the boys reached the
village.

Chapter 1

Born Into Adversity

Dakraln was born with the name Ortorous, that of his human mother Caitlyn
Ortorous. How he came to be conceived she would never tell him and he gave
up asking early on during his childhood. The two lived in a small humble
cottage in a small village in the forests northwest of the desert city Hamsah
Mu'tazz. Barely a cot and a pantry, it served its purpose given their
poverty.

She covered their paltry costs raising chickens and spinning pottery. They
were able to barter for their taxes and keep themselves clothed, although
barely, in simple cloths that had to be well cared for lest holes develop
that'd have to be mended over with ugly patches. Being born to a human
mother of a drow father, Dakraln was regarded differently by the humans from
the time of birth.

Caitlyn learned to hide him well, she taught him as best she could at home.
She knew better than to try to attend the services of the local church with
him or send him to school, or any festivals or festivities of the locals.
These were not a tolerant people and half-drow may as well be half-devil to
them. She loved him well however and protected him as best as she could,
hiding him from others and making sure he grew up healthy and strong.

An Immortal added 1500 exp for: Our mother hid us for a long time as we were a half-drow, but when we were found watching a revelry, we got bullied. Ended up killing one of the bullies and that caused our mother to sell us to the AP guild.
