Rydell Feanathiel the Proven Friend of the Storm Giants, Cardinal of the Golden Sun
DescriptionRydell has a tall and graceful appearance which he carries with confidence and poise. However, it is evident that age has taken it's toll on Rydell's body. He hunches over slightly and leans upon whatever he can, whenever he can. His peaceful and quiet gaze wanders about, and faint and constant smile on his face. Within that smile is a wistful longing that you can't seem to identify.
He is fiercely handsome, his striking elvish features and opalescent skin brighten all beings which surround him. All manner of life seems to flourish around Rydell. Crimson and violet butterflies seems to flutter around his form randomly as a faint aura of light can be seen about his body. His grayish hair, streaked with reddish-gold stripes, shapes his face elegantly, and shades his piercing gray eyes.
His skin looks perfectly smooth and unmarred, his once unmarked and maintained complexion randomly marked with a slight darkening of his skin. A beautiful perfect purple lotus on the inside of his right wrist. The heart of the flower is black, yet when the light glints on it a certain way, it matches the opalescent color of Rydell's skin just right. His hands look very soft and maintained, his nails trimmed neatly and buffed to a fine shine.

45895, Rydell's Role Chapter 23

RoleChapter 23 A forgetful memory Added Mon Aug 26 20:04:05 2013 at level 51:As cooler heads prevail, Rydell seems pleased with himself, in his mind, The Commander Tiarehelle and Marshall Oshui would be pitted against each other, and unwilling to make compromise with Tiarhelle. Thank the light for the even handed Cainargen, and a young duergar even, by the name of Arratok.
Rydell hopes that the village will take a direction against it's true foes - the Chaos Magi who bent their will long, long ago.
The only mortal face Rydell seems to find peace about, is the Elder Prophet, Andira. She has been the only constant within his life since he had just arrived from the city of Eil Sharia to meet with his Lady Rayihn.
She spends her time mostly in the mountains, with Rostrak, a Paladin of the Refuge whom Rydell is most fond of.
Rydell misses his own love, that of Rachiel. She has gone on a trip somewhere, but Rydell can't seem to remember when she will return..
-----
As Rydell's mind further drifts into the past he continues to lose touch with those of the present. His mind is like an ever expanding sinkhole, slowly but inevitably devouring the memories of the present and in the depths - opening a portal to the memories of the past.
Rydell is quite tired of wearing heavy plate, crystal, scale, and bone armor and is attempting wear something with a bit more flexibility. He gave his battle armor, which has served him for nearly a thousand years, to a young elven healer, Deaer. Rydell is particularly fond of Deaer as she reminds him of the way Rydell was when he was young. Full of energy, life, and a nervous eagerness.
Centuries upon centuries of pain upon pain on Rydell's body has taken it's toll. He feels the aches, and the mental anguish of the suffering of hundreds of Squires, Scribes, Acolytes, and Maran whom have gone on before him. His mind swirls in agony from time to time, giving him intense headaches, rendering him unable to focus.
Yet within his heart, and within his spirit, the light still shines brightly.

RoleChapter 9 The Tenants: Water Draft Added Tue Feb 5 21:31:11 2013 at level 51:Rydell has continued to work on the Tenants of Lady Rayihn's faith. Carg shall co-author vanity, Either Quetzal or Brahm shall co-author water and healing. The Drafts have been written as follows:
The waters flow deep through cracks in raw land, creeping forcefully with chisel in hand. Slowly ebbing and flowing with grace, forever molding and shaping our place.
Some know her love, many her wrath, as even huge boulders fall to her path. But when she is calmed, catching the sun glimmer, the sounds of her tongue, send my spin into sheer shivers.
From raindrop to river, her power unfold, creation or destruction; both shape the world. Either gentle soothing wash, or deluge and flood, it quenches powerfully, cleansing all pain, all blood.
She is crisp, clear, muddy, or brine, the cooling hand or scalding wrath - both divine. The waters recede, and we can see ultimate affect, she keeps us alive, keeps us well, always perfect.

RoleChapter 10 The Tenants: Vanity Draft Added Tue Feb 5 21:32:55 2013 at level 51:Draft of Vanity - to be co-authored by Carg.
For who am I but most special and blessed, I should mention. Who do you claim to be, that I should pay _any_ attention? Worthy of my time, I do not wonder - I drink my wine, show you are more than a distraction, otherwise, I'm quite fine.
We are called to act, out of our own needs, we do not come to you for your cries, we do not heed. If deemed worthy of our interest, you would be equally blessed, for it is not often one of her chosen would take any interest.
Whether it is the light, or the dark, or balanced mind, we may not pay attention to you, or your kind. If serves our interest in some spiritual way, we might abide, if you are found unworthy, undeserving, you are then cast aside.
So who are you then, that we should be paying you any mind? To be touched in some way, by one so hallowed, so divine. Gifted and special we are, blessed, again, I should mention. You would do well to take notice, if we give you any attention.

RoleChapter 11 The Tenants: Healing Draft Added Tue Feb 5 21:39:58 2013 at level 51:In order to heal, in order to mend, nothing held back, nothing left to tend. Giving all you have to give within, either with a prayer, or a wink and a grin.
Mending the flesh is simple, easy to invigorate, little effort needed to restore to a healthy state. Not so simple to mend a broken heart, painfully made, it does always respond to bandages or first aid.
An act of healing can be simple, an act for another, something out of duty or love, for your fellow brother. The simplest caress or hug can bring this healing, nothing further needed, just expression or feeling.
If you wonder then, what you may do at the very least, you who are not an acolyte, or devout priest. Look to your brothers, or those whom you seek to warm, and ask, what does your heart pull you to perform.

RoleChapter 12 The Unifying of Love, Healing, Vanity, and Water. Added Tue Mar 5 11:15:28 2013 at level 51:Rydell has continued to grow in Rayihn's faith. His mentors Inerayo and Iklahn, speak with Rydell nearly every time he awakens, furthering his understanding of the complexities of Love, Healing, Water, and Vanity. Rydell has completed the first iteration of the tenets of Lady Rayihn's faith, and has began to work upon a unifying piece to pull together the ideology of Lady Rayihn as Rydell experiences it.
However, he wishes it to be as perfect as he can create it. Rydell created several drafts which he shall send to Inerayo and Iklahn for guidance and a bit of shaping. He hopes his understanding of the faith is close to their own, and his work pleases his Lady.
Rydell sent some of his works to the Elder Prophet, Andira, and was slightly disappointed she did not give her reflection or annotation to his work. On the subject of leadership within the Fortress, Rydell feels that Cand is a valuable asset to the Fortress, and has tremendous respect for his accomplishments. Cand was a made a full Acolyte prior to Rydell earning his robes, yet he has not shown his face for over two hundred years of Rydell's life. Reports of his appearance have come to Rydell, but only a waking or two. Surely a Cardinal cannot guide those to the light if they are never awake to do so.
Cand is no longer influential, many of the Fortress do not even know who he is. Rydell has sent missive to Cand, and will speak with Cand about the impact this has upon the light, and request Cand to rouse more often for the sake of the Fortress. Rydell is concerned this effects the strength of the Fortress on two fronts, the overpowering strength of the Marshall and Captain, and the burgeoning power of the darkness which grows without hold.
His love of the light continues to grow, and his failures to cure his people have not tarnished his shining spirit in the slightest. Rydell has thought again of his moment of weakness, as Rachiel found her way into the mirror, but he is no longer tormented by it. It was shocking to him how close, and how easy it was to accept the easier path of darkness, in order to postpone the pain of loss within his heart. His deeper understanding of the drawing of immortality and the undead has aided him in understanding his own purpose as a shining light against their taint, as well as a deeper understanding of love and pain.
He carries with him mementos of her, and is constantly reminder of their love together. He has told none that he had laid with her last before she had taken her last breath. It is a secret none know besides perhaps the Lady.
Rydell has felt Rayihn's absence. True, she is always within his mind, breathing his name upon the winds, and he sees her reflection in the sun against the water, and her warmth within his heart. Rydell has not spoken with his Lady since he first penned the first tenet. He very much would like to know how she has received his gifts to her, and to the world.

RoleChapter 13 Draft of the Unifying of Love, Healing, Vanity, and Water - and Lady Neltouda Added Tue Mar 5 12:20:19 2013 at level 51:Rydell has penned to the Lady Neltouda, and has heard no word regarding the inscription of the ode to Rayihn, the four Tenets, the unifying piece, and the ode to Rachiel within the lyceum. An unfinished draft of the Unifying piece inspired by Inerayo is as follows:
What is the root of love within your heart? This is where my meandering prose shall start.
Is it a deep sense of self, of beauty and amazement? A love of the world, to which you seek to shape? Perhaps of your shape, which you've come to admire? Oh even more, the Lady holds your greatest desire.
One thing is clear, in order to love another to a full extent, you must first love yourself without regret, or exempt. In order to heal, nothing must be withheld, all shall be given, all you can muster to quell. Vanity holds not that you withdraw from another, simply that you are more amazing than others. The water of love flows deep within your heart, healing the pain that once torn you apart.
If the waters seep within, the and loves seed grows, the lotus shall blossom, your heart and mind, no longer oppose.
While not yet ready for the gaze of Rayihn's chosen, it is a start which Rydell shall continue to shape.

RoleChapter 14 The Tenet of Faith: Vanity, and Rydell's own. Added Fri Apr 12 07:12:46 2013 at level 51:After long struggling to understand the meaning of vanity in Rydell's own faith, he received perfect guidance from Shamise, the Handmaiden of Rayihn, Inaeryo, the Watermarked of the Lady, and even Iklahn, Rayihn's chosen.
It turns out that Rydell had difficulty finding his own vanity, in that he did not see how perfect, amazing, and special his gifts truly were. He did not see vanity as an overstatement of his own self worth, but merely what he was. He *IS* more gifted and blessed than most mortals, he *IS* a shining shield against the dark. These facts are undisputed, they are non debatable, and in this Rydell felt this was not vain, but merely as things were.
The fact that this is how Rydell feels is not up for debate, nor can be disputed is what makes it vain. His being a boon to the light, to the Fortress, and to those of the light as he guides them through the darkness.
Rydell Penned the fourth and final Tenet: Vanity
Lady Rayihn's perfection so divine, her revered heart, so sublime, Her beauty is the reflection of within, perfect for all time. Within each of our (her) hearts, our blessings shine bright, As you gaze upon one of her chosen, you shall see such a sight.
Within my spirit you'll find a full bloom of life, life abound surrounds me. Unmatched by any mortal is my shining spirit of light, a shepherd when you cannot see. A stalwart shield against the ebb of night, a faithful incorruptible buttress. A fountainhead of Love and Hope, a healing voice of both the hopeless and blessed.
The tempers of many I'm inclined to calm, a guiding word and a hand to move. Like soothing waters and balm upon a burn, eyes of hatred I tend to sooth. The essence of these is not up for debate, I am led from within my (her) heart. These are undisputed, facts tolled; blessed beyond most mortals from the start.
It is of little wonder the light gathers where I stand firm; against the ebb of the dark, my blessed shining spirit shall spurn. A citadel of faith within my heart, that the light shall shine and shimmer bright. A fortitude of spirit that beckons to all those blessed, a guide in the night.
This is my vanity for it is who I am, a burgeoning wellspring of love and healing.

RoleChapter 15 Struggle of the Light, and Andira Added Fri Apr 12 07:24:56 2013 at level 51:After Six Hundred years of life, Rydell has seen many faces come and go through the Fortress. Many Squires, Maran, Scribes, and Acolytes have drifted into the Elysium to find their souls joined with the light.
Rydell has seen Captain Filndar pass, and The Last Cardinal, Cand, vanish from Thera wordlessly. Marshall Oshui and Elder Prophet Andira have been a constant since Rydell has joined the Fortress. Andira has been a guiding light to Rydell, as he has sought her council throughout his life as he earned his Acolyte robes.
Rydell believes that there is certainly a different way to view the light than the Spearmaiden Baerinika's or the creed of the Maran. In fact, Rydell has had conflicts with Baerinika on several occasions. Specifically, regarding the Maran's conduct regarding war with those whom are not of the dark, or do not carry the taint of evil within their soul.
Rydell believes that an open hand is more effective at pulling those who might be capable of committing an evil act to the light, as opposed to a clenched fist, forcing them to a path which conflicts with those whom are pure of blood.
Rydell feels this weakens the purity of the light, and dampens the shining souls of the righteous. Their strength is in facing those of the wicked, lest they too turn into a murderous rage as the darkness ebbs upon their own soul. Without this integrity the force of their own conviction, and ultimately the battle against the dark suffers.
Now, however, Andira faces an internal demon of sorts. Much as Rydell did when Rachiel died. Andira has had a difficult life, first losing her husband, then being barren and unable to give life, and now, her goddess Amaranthe has bestowed her with an evil raven to represent her spirit. A familiar that when called ties itself to her being in such a way that she feels as it does.
Rydell knows this cannot be easy for Andira. It must be the most terrible feeling to have a dark being pull upon their soul in such an intimate and consensual way. Rydell can only imagine her pain, and her confusion. He has heard that Andira would consider calling upon a Devil or Demon if her Goddess requested such from her. This concerned Rydell greatly, as this should not even be a consideration to Andira.
Rydell hopes to guide Andira, much as she has guided him. With an open heart and an open mind. He hopes that he can gently focus her eyes upon the light, and that her shining spirit pulls her to it's glory, and brings her, once again, peace.

RoleChapter 16 Mentorship of the Scribes, and a Devout Priest of Rayihn Added Fri Apr 12 07:33:53 2013 at level 51:Rydell has attempted to create a mentorship program within the Fortress. He feels that the overwhelming presence of the Maran and Squires within the Fortress places a singular view of the light within the minds of Thera.
He has been asking Tolgrumm to send him lists of the fortress so he can send messages to the scribes. He wishes the Scribes to find an Acolyte mentor to guide them to the Robes of the Golden Sun. Additionally, he asks the Scribes, once they have chosen an Acolyte, to seek out a squire or Maran and talk to them of what pulls their hearts and spirits to the light. To remind them what it is they fight for, and to keep their eyes focused upon the light.
Rydell feels he Tends to his Flock within the Fortress in such a way. Shepherding them as a Cardinal would. Rydell wonders if after the Death of Padwei, there is a path for such a place within the fortress.
Rydell has also finished the Tenets of faith for the Lady Rayihn, after many years of toiling and work. Rydell shall work with the Lady Neltouda to bring his works as a collection into the Lycuem for all to see. Rydell hopes these works will guide others of the Lady's faith long after he has passed, at the very least bringing them to her bathhouse in a search for their own story of love. He has been promised she would speak with him of bearing her mark as one of her most devout soon.
Rydell often things of some of the most favored of the Lady. Carg, Quetzal, Rachiel, and Baylahn to name a few. Now he oft speaks to Phred, Shamise, and Kraldinor oft of his Lady's faith. He hopes to see many more within the Bathhouse as a result of his work.

RoleChapter 17 Solitary Sojourn - Reflection Added Mon Jun 24 12:12:46 2013 at level 51:Hundreds of years have passed in Rydell's life without meaningful reflection. His waking days are a struggle against the onslaught of the dark. A constant cry of attention within his ears, the endless stream of those in need of his divine gifts. His mind and body consistently torn between the duties of the fortress, and his wish to do more for the Lady Rayihn.
On a solitary sojourn into mountains, Rydell finally felt a stillness within his spirit. Finding a high peak to sit upon, gazing down upon the vastness of the world - he closed his eyes and began a simple prayer. It would be weeks until he opened them again.
-flash-
The Rhyme of the Nexites, Ujesken and Svindabinden, his friend, come to Rydell to aid in the birth of the Valkallyr. Forged of the sky and light, in order to stop an evil giant born of Kraldinor's blood. Of course, Rydell would be called to such a task - to Undo what his brother had once again unleashed into the world. Obviously his prayer would be required to shepherd the being born of this union safely. And so it was done.
-flash-
Tolgrumm, Rydell's dearest friend and ally, asks his aid in building a Golem to aid the fortress. Something he had seen within his visions. Aiding Tolgrumm in gathering plating, and hearing of the success he has had, made Rydell very, very happy and glad for Tolgrumm. His dying words to Rydell was that he was to complete the Golem, and care for his creation.
-flash-
A group of Rydell's friends, whom he had gathered and travelled with over centuries, face down the ancient dragon Tiamat - slaying her. A victory unlike any other, and what took many attempts, felt yet so easy upon the final.
-flash-
Rydell paces in the spearmaiden ruins, jaguars that look all too familiar to Rydell pacing around him. Rydell misses the somber and sour Marshall, but know there is much work do be done. He has relied upon the guidance of Baerinika to guide him to being a Cardinal of the Fortress. A journey which has taken almost 700 years to complete. Without the aid of Andira, Tolgrumm, Oshui, and Baerinika pressing and challenging Rydell, he would not have finally understand his place within the light and would have simply been a powerful vessel with love and splendor of his Lady's faith infusing his being - never focused as he should have been - nor reaching the pinnacle of his abilities.

RoleChapter 18 Solitary Sojourn - Vodron the Golem Added Mon Jun 24 12:16:19 2013 at level 51:-flash-
The golem Vodron has been given directives - The wicked are to be destroyed, The leaders of the Fortress Obeyed, the Innocent to be protected. Yet he has no choice of his own to obey or disobey. The Golem acts within his capacity for good, yet if left to his own choice, it is uncertain what he will become.
Rydell has thought to give this being a heart, one full of love and peace. A heart to have him feel. Yet he now knows this is not enough. What Vodron requires is not a heart of love, but a choice to love.
Rydell has travelled and help Vodron for most of his life. He knows his deeds to be pure. Yet they are not of his own volition - but a set of directives. Rules. Once able to have choice, it is unknown what it is Vodron will actually choose, or enjoy.
Vodron has seen in his own visions that Rydell is the key to his entrance into the fortress. After discussing the matter with Andira, Rydell thought of a way to impart a soul to the golem Vodron. One which involves a dark magic. Anti-Paladins are known to steal the souls of their victims, and imbue items with their power. Rydell will ask his Lady Rayihn to fashion a spell of similar power, so a soul make be imbued upon Vodron. If any could be trusted with such a matter, it would be his Lady. Being the Patron of the Nexites, she has access to the source of Magic. If any can help him, it would be her.
Rydell knows that a soul is required for this very task, and knows that this soul must be his own - to finish the work his dear friend began, and to ensure that Rydell's spirit, pure and shining, shall be what fills Vodron.

RoleChapter 19 The Return of Corrlaan Added Tue Jul 30 18:20:00 2013 at level 51:When Rydell had first earned the robes of an Acolyte, he was a young elf by all standards. Barely three hundred years old, he had just reached the crescent of maturity when Baerinika promoted him to a full robed Acolyte.
Just as he was earning his robes, the Acolyte Cand, whom earned his robes not long before Rydell, was promoted to Cardinal. Rydell feels that this occurred primarily because of one event.
Padwei. Padwei had left the Fortress, and the lands. In her wake she left behind devout, such as Andira, with a vacant place in their hearts, and Acolytes like Rydell, without guidance.
Cand was promoted, righteously, by the spear maiden, to show hope sprung eternal, and that the spirit of the light had not abandoned those whom looked to it for guidance within the darkness that surrounds.
It's no secret to Rydell that Baerinika disagrees with his view of the light. In several of their conversations, impasse has been met where there simply is no ground to be made. Redemption to her is nonexistent. Only through death, and destruction, and utter annihilation, can one find purity through Baerinika's myopic view of the light.
In Rydell's attempt to 'counter' this view, to the best of his ability he often advised against violence, even when he should not have. He received on point guidance from his dear friend Andira, and ironically, the Spear maiden herself. Rydell failed to see that the actions he took limited those of the light he sought to guide. Essentially, he was making their choice for them, instead of guiding to the truth and love within the heart. Free will. Mistakes of his youth as an Acolyte.
It took Rydell Hundreds of years to earn the wisdom of both the Light and his Lady. Marked far longer than any of Lady Rayihn's followers, and promoted far later than Rydell's memory of Captains, Marshalls, and Cardinals before him. Rydell always felt he was gifted in some ways but not in others.
However, the long patience of his heritage has paid off. Now again, the heart of light has returned from the dark, and the blessings of the Acolytes flourish throughout the land.

RoleChapter 20 The return of Corrlaan Part two Added Tue Jul 30 18:21:13 2013 at level 51:Rydell had yet to speak with Lord Corrlaan, but had heard of his return through his various friends at the Inn, and those of the Inn. Rydell had a chance to speak with the Acolyte Lord, and was intensely inspired by him to pen a missive to search for those within the fortress that would be our next leaders of the Maran.
He penned the following after speaking with the Lord:
Fortress of the Light,
In our war against the dark, it is you who pay the heaviest toll. You do this so others may not. You stand as the shining beacon of light against the constant, endless flow of the dark.
As you face this tide, it is not the dark which ebbs, but the purity of your soul which bears the brunt of your chosen burden. The Scribes and Acolytes of the Fortress are at the ready to buttress your spirit. Our hearts and minds a steady stalwart arm to which we give to protect your soul. Protect the sanctity of the light.
I write this missive to remind you all, that it is not the battle of the flesh that shall turn this tide. No. It is not the blood upon your sword. It is the spirit that pumps through your heart. It is not the might you possess or the demons that you slay, but the fortitude of your shining spirit that shall prevail.
It need not be the greater slayer of you who step forth to lead the Maran, but the one which might give the brigade the greatest zeal to rise and fight against the dark. The one which inspires the spirit of the Maran, the one that understands that with the love of the light which burgeons within your heart, each righteous blow shall be towards a goal of a Thera in absence of darkness. A Land finally at peace and free of oppression.
It is time that you step forward, Champion. Step forward into the light and Marshall the forces of righteousness. Step forward and lead.

RoleChapter 21 A forgotten friend, and forgetful memories. Added Tue Jul 30 18:22:29 2013 at level 51:Rydell has been attempting to help the Golem Vodron in finding a soul, or a heart of his own, so he may be capable of the free will to choose his own path. In his effort to impart Vodron with a soul, Rydell has reached out to the Lady Rayihn, to have her craft a spell in order to impart some of Rydell's essence, into the golem Vodron.
Rydell does not know what would happen, if such a spell was to be used upon him only, so he asked for the Elder Prophet Andira, and Lady Voralia to assist him in this undertaking.
Since then, Rydell has not seen Vodron, and has oft wondered what would become of him. Is he rusting somewhere off in the forest, searching for evil to be vanquished, and light to protect, unknown to love, joy, hate, fear, or empathy.
He was given a heart of a heart of flame, an item that Vodron sought out to give to Rydell. Something he had seen in a dream. If only golems could interpret said dreams, Rydell would not be left wondering what happened to his friend Vodron.
Recently, Rydell has found himself drifting in memory. Unable to recall small details of his oldest friends. Recently he called Mylene a gnome, Rachael a felar, and the Dwarf Golial an Elf. He remembers a latest battle with Krunk, whom has been dead since right before the Marshall died, as the last Orc he has seen.
It's unclear what is effecting Rydell's memory, and he is concerned for the future.

RoleChapter 22 Thwarting another war with the Village. Added Thu Aug 22 19:56:01 2013 at level 51:Rydell has recently learned of Maran stepping into the village to strike out against the dark. He knows that in doing so, the entire of the light is placed at risk; both within the flesh, as well as within their spirits. He sought to stop a war before it begins, and in this effort - penned this missive to the Fortress:
Many, many, centuries before any of you were born, the Elder Prophet and I were in the midst of a war against the village. It was a terrible war in many respects, as most wars are. However this one was quite different. I wish to remind you of why.
Our Maran, trained and focused upon a war of darkness, had to fight against gnomes, wood-elves, dwarves, cloud giants, and all manner of race and creed that were not born of the dark. They had retrieve the Orb against these Berserkers, as well as defend our walls from them.
This served to weaken the light in many ways, most spectacularly was that the Maran were quite busy fighting hoards whom were not born of the dark. The Scion roamed freely. The Empire mustered it's strength in secret, and the forces of the dark cackled gleefully as the village turned it's wrath upon the fortress.
The Acolytes were unable to focus upon their work of bringing hope to the innocent, and raising the spirits of those facing the ebb - as their attention was diverted to a three front war.
Those whom are capable of both acts of good, and dark, were now sworn enemies of the fortress and would strike out ruthlessly. This does not facilitate our path as Acolytes. It does not aid us as we seek to guide their hearts to the beauty of the light.
It is the place of the Acolytes to protect those of the light, and mend their spirits from the ebb of the dark. The death of one dark Villager, while clearly within the duty of the Maran, is far outweighed by the costs to the light, to the innocent, and to the torn souls of the Maran.
I ask that you search your hearts, Scribes, Acolytes. Search them to find the truth within. Open them to love, and seek the glory of the light. Next you step foot upon the threshold of the Village, are you willing to trade that one death, for the death of many others whom could have been turned to the glory of the light? Are you prepared to mend the unnecessarily broken spirits of so, so many?
In the end the Maran must hunt the evil that hides within, but perhaps this is your opportunity to bring such consequences to their mind. Let it weigh on their hearts. I know the Acolytes will guide the Maran upon the path of the righteous. As always - you are their stalwart shield against the ebb of the dark. The guiding light within the darkness.
With Love, RF & Andira.

RoleChapter 2 A Priest of Rayihn Added Wed Dec 26 12:36:43 2012 at level 30:The life of a priest of Rayihn is one of intensity and challenge! Rydell has discovered in his travels that the great works of his Lady are very much in demand! The ebb of the dark is constant within the spirits of Mortals, both of the dark and of the light.
In his travels, Rydell has granted the blessings of the Lady to Orphans, Heroes, and those who stand firm against the taint of evil. Lady Rayihn has shaped the world through Rydell already: turning the tide in many a hard fought battle against the darkness, aiding a sword of the light stand against many, and sheparding the heart of Gragnash into the love of the light.
Just as a Shepard must tend to it's flock, and guard against the wolves; so much a gardener trim the ivy that chokes out the blossoms. However, this battle against the ebb of the dark does not merely take place within the flesh, but within the spirit. Already within the fortress, Rydell has found those unwilling (or unable) to open their hearts to the glory of the light. Unable to find love. Unable to see that an open hand extended to another can heal the darkest of spirits.
In his travels, Andira, the Elder Prophet of the light noticed Rydell's deeds in the name of Lady Rayihn, and granted him entrance to the Fortress as a Scribe. After reading through the scrolls within the Hall of Light, Rydell knew at once this was the place where he could hone his spirit and sharpen his prayers of Rayihn. Then, after his spirit is strong enough to become a true shield of the light, he can return to Eil Shaeria and bring the Blessings of Rayihn his people.
Perhaps then, Rydell can heal the failing spirits and broken bodies of those who suffer endlessly.

RoleChapter 8 Rachiel in Passing, Love Eternal Awaits. Added Tue Feb 5 21:18:45 2013 at level 51:Rydell awoke from the most divine evening with Rachiel, his last memory of her, a gentle scent of their Ladies herbs wafting up from the skin of her chest, where he gently laid his head to rest.
Their talk had been one of deep healing for Rydell, of their love, and of their time together. Rydell admitted that for hundreds of years, he had had a secret love of Rachiel, unable to express his most wanted desire.
First, she helped him stumble through his faith, aiding him in yet a deeper understanding of it's depths. Then she had become a mentor, a friend, and finally, she had taken him as her last mortal lover, Rydell's First. Rydell has told none of his being with Rachiel, a secret that likely only Lady Rayihn knows of.
In her mystery, and in Rydell's pain, he had finally understood how to experience the greatness of love, through the depths of the pain he felt by her loss. Rydell knew her time short, he had shut off his own love in order to shield himself from the pain he knew was to come. He had feared it, for it is something he had not ever experienced. To him, only through complete sacrifice, and letting go, could he truly enjoy his own love of Rachiel. In order to have her love fully, and experience that unending joy, he must first feel the pain of that loss.
Rachiel guided him through this as they lay together in the Bathhouse, soft kisses and tender embraced shared in the candle-lit corners of Lady Rayihn's shrine. No better place to find love and healing of his spirit.
Rydell did not have opportunity to speak with Rachiel again after they laid together - Yet, after all this time, Rydell can finally feel Rachiel within his spirit always. Rachiel walks at Lady Rayihn's side for all eternity, thus within his own soul. Just as she has become part of Rayihn, Rydell knows when he passes through the mirror in his own time, he will be once again able to embrace Rachiel in the full reaches of his love, and to live within the love he had but for a brief moment to experience within the bathhouse.
Rydell hopes the love he was able to capture, for but a small measure of time, he will be able to experience for the rest of all time at the side of Lady Rayihn.

RoleChapter 7 Tenant of Faith Added Wed Jan 30 09:31:54 2013 at level 51:Rydell now works with Rachiel on the installation of a four part piece of love, healing, vanity, and water - dedicated to Rayihn's faith. He hopes to complete it before her times comes. He hopes that Rachiel's knowledge can find it's way into their works so she may extend through eternity.
The first piece predictably titled 'love' has been drafted. Rydell has sent the draft to Rachiel for her edits, additions, and for what Rydell hopes will be a beautiful collaboration.
The First Draft is as follows:
A life well lived, is one lived in love, it is more than words said, or another you think of. Within your spirit, true love of self must surge, only then can your love of others, truly, emerge.
Love respects, finds patience, and is not always kind, it follows no boundaries, no rules, and prefers undefined. It can bring you high, your heart needs no wings to soar, an open heart offers the the greatest joys to explore.
Even in anguish and pain, our love can still grow, even the loss of our friend, a lover, or our beau. If love had once been, it still will be, for our hearts remember our loves, for all eternity.
If ever you find pain, where your spirit once had joy, do not close it off, do not let your torment destroy. Instead remember our tales, our songs, and our times, remember our love, and our spirit in our primes.
In these memories our love would never need leave, a lasting fabric through time, a tapestry of love is weaved. Remember your friends, your lovers, your dear, remember them fondly, raise a glass, raise your cheer.

RoleChapter 6 Immortality, Vanity, Love, Pain, and Rachiel. Added Wed Jan 30 09:21:16 2013 at level 51:Rydell continues to deepen his faith through the Lady's Chosen.
Recently one of his mentors, Inerayo, told Rydell a story of his youth. How in denying himself what he truly desired in love, he was able to heal the heart of another. The maiden that he saved was to belong to another, and in his form, comforted her in a time of her greatest need. What Rydell learned from this story of Inerayo is in order to heal another, you must be prepared to accept and sacrifice for another. If you cannot give yourself completely to the task of healing another's wounds, you cannot heal completely.
Rydell has grown as a shield of the light, and as a stalwart shepherd of the spirit against the ebb of the dark. Until recently he felt able to mend nearly anything of the body. Until recently Rydell had not understand the depths of love - even as great as his is for the Lady Rayihn, that is until he had news of Rachiel's apparent death.
Rydell loves himself, and his Lady Deeply - yet neither he can truly lose. Rayihn Immortal, and his own shining soul the same, he knows he will always be with his Lady, even in death. It was not until he felt the loss of Rachiel, the anguish that tore at his heart, and the hole it tore, visceral and tangible. Through this pain, Rydell finally understood the depths his love. He felt inadequate, and weak. He could not save Rachiel from her mortality, he knew not how to mend this wound. In his own vanity, he felt he should be capable of such a feat, even to defy the natural cycle of life.
Rydell thought of the Ghasts of his Eli Shaeria, and of his quest to mend the spirits of his people. He wondered, for a brief moment, as thoughts of ways to extend Rachiel life crept into his mind, that perhaps Rachiel could be of the wraiths. Perhaps she could be preserved until a cure could be found, until he learned how to stave off her mortality.
Rydell realized this was not love of Rachiel, for this torment and anguish would wither her beautiful spirit, just as surely his people suffered. He realized this was delay of the pain that must come; self serving and without respect of life, Rachiel, or himself. It was Inerayo's lesson: You must be prepared to accept and sacrifice for another. In order to love Rachiel, he had to be prepared to let her go. He had to be prepared to give of himself. He had to see his own limits, not as failures, but as lessons.
When Rydell learned that Rachiel had not passed, he was overjoyed, he wished to share all that he had learned. Even in her mistaken death, Rachiel had guided him deeper into his Lady's faith. He penned an Ode of Rachiel, and of her impact on the lives of so many, and on himself. He expressed his love, and his fear. He opened his heart, and was prepared for whatever consequence. It mattered little as he had followed the pull of his own heartstrings.

RoleChapter 5 Duraskandr, The Imperial Shadow Lord Added Fri Jan 4 18:08:26 2013 at level 51:Rydell has encountered a terrible affliction which can be called by Duraskandr, the Imperial Shadow Lord. The Healing Curse. This curse has resisted any attempt by Rydell to tend to the flesh of his allies, and friends. Even the simple bandaging taught to him by the Priestess of Eil Shaeria seemed to be unable to cut through the curse. Rydell could only comfort those afflicted, and watch them perish slowly - even if he had rescued them from the blows of the Imperial Shadow Lord.
He will continue to deepen his prayer and learn what he can of the light in order to lift this terrible affliction from his allies, saving them from their wounds of the flesh.

RoleChapter 4 Rachiel, Vanity, and the Village Added Fri Jan 4 18:06:41 2013 at level 51:Rachiel, one of the Lady Rayihn's chosen, spoke to Rydell about Vanity. Lady Rayihn's followers are gifted, and special. They have this innate knowledge without ever being doing of their gifts. Rydell knew this from a very early age, as his spirit shines brilliantly with an aura of life. Just as the Priests of Eil Shaeria knew of his gifts would be a powerful force against the ebb of the dark, Rydell had felt a surge within his spirit when he had felt the warming embrace of his Lady.
Yet knowing whom is worthy of receiving his gifts is certainly something to give considerable thought to.
Rydell learned a lesson with Gragnash, in that there comes a certain point where our gifts are wasted upon those whom would not receive them with an open heart or mind. There is a point where the ivy need be trimmed from the spirit of the blossom, and it's root cut, before it can leech anything further. Rydell turned his attention to Rahedra, a Tara'Bal of the Fortress whom had been quested by Lord Lian to enter into the Nyathl Ikalith. Some dark within the tower has ebbed Rahedra's spirit, and then his will to live. Rydell sought out Lord Lian, but it was too late for Rahedra, as he had returned to the Elysium of Angels.
Rydell then sought to mend the rift that has been created between the Village, and the Fortress. At first, it seemed to Rachiel that Rydell cared for the well being of the village, the Fortress, of those within it, and basically everyone else. This was not the case. Rydell feels that his efforts are those of love, and he does so with purpose. Rydell shields the spirits of the Maran from the ebb of the taint. Rydell feels that Maran striking and drawing blood from gray wood-elves, dwarves, svirfnebli, gnomes, arials, and their likes turns the eyes of the Maran from their true foe. In an effort to shepherd the Maran back to the glory of the light and let the healing waters of his Lady wash over their spirits, Rydell has worked to end the war.
This task has been two fold, as Rydell has also attempted to refocus and redirect the energies of the Village back into the Dark Chaos Magi that had once enslaved them. In speaking with the Drillmaster, Arratok, and the Commander, Cainargen, Rydell has spoke of the Village History - and how the village has once again become enslaved by the dark magics of the Scion into fighting a war against the light. To some extent, this refocusing has been successful, as a cease in the war has begun, and the attention of the chasm once again in the forefront of the barbarian minds. Now to open the heart and mind of the Marshall is yet another concern.
Rydell continues to grow in his Lady's Faith, and has forged friendships with many of her followers, as well as those within the Fortress. He has many guides, and many whom help him along the way. He hopes that one day - he too can be one of her Chosen.

RoleChapter 3 Rayihn's Chosen, Baylhan and Love. Added Sat Dec 29 23:56:06 2012 at level 47:Many an day, soaking within the hot baths of Lady Rayihn's bathhouse, Rydell has spoken deeply of love, healing, and the mysteries of his Lady's faith with many a wise assortment of her followers. Rachiel, Baylahn, Quetzal, Iklahn and an occasional visitor have aided Rydell in capturing a deeper understanding of his path within the world. Rydell does not comprehend fully why he was chosen, yet he has a deeper appreciation of what makes him special amongst all others.
Not long after a particularly enlightening conversation on the impact of love of another, and how the simplest acts of kindness can mend the spirit in the most surprising ways, Rydell had opportunity to apply his new appreciation for love.
Baylahn had come to the bathhouse, while Rydell was just speaking with Andira of the death of Padwei, and to an Imperial Shaman in aiding him in his understanding of love. She was visibly upset, shaking, quivering in sadness and pain.
Baylahn spoke of her parents, Pikin and Mienna, and how she felt abandoned by them at birth. Rydell soothed her mind, and spoke to her of opening her heart to the possibility they merely adventured, as they always did, and were still alive, or had found a perilous path from which they could not return.
The pain did not end, and the uncertain past crept into Baylahn's mind. Rydell felt his heart move, and in an act of genuine love, thought of a solution. He penned one hundred scrolls to be placed in every tavern, town hall, village, bar, market, well traveled place he could find - seeking information on her parents.
In it's crafting he asked the counsel of Lady Rayihn's chosen, Iklahn, and was advised to address the responses to Lady Rayihn, himself, and Rydell - as the news that came back, might need be broken gently to his friend. In an effort to spread the news about the lands as best possible, Rydell requested help from Filndar, Andira, Rostrak, Quetzal, Cand, Carg, and others, to blanket the lands with his scrolls seeking information.

RoleChapter 1 The Chosen of Eil Shaeria Added Mon Dec 24 10:36:25 2012 at level 8:Rydell Feanathiel was an born in the city of Darsylon, to an everyday herbalist and a chamber maid of the Royal Palace. On the day of his birth a rare crimson butterfly had flown to his bassinet, and landed upon his forehead, gently kissing (as butterflies do) his opalescent skin.
As a boy, wandering the mossy lined streets of Darsylon, this trend seemed to continue. Living creatures would flourish and thrive about Rydell. In his youth he tried his hand with a sword and found himself unable to wield it. He tried his hand with a bow, and found no accuracy in his pull. He had not the tongue for magics, or incantations?A What he did have was a special and unique gift of life, through no action of his own.
This did not go unnoticed by the elves of higher learning within the Palace. Rydell Feanathiel was moved from the cities of Darsylon shortly after his sixth birthday, to the stronghold of Eil Shaeria. The High Elves felt that perhaps whatever gifts which were innate within Rydell, would somehow have an effect on the darkness which crept into the blood of it's citizens.
Indeed, even among the undead, the Aura of light that emanated from Rydell had an effect upon the weakened, the sick, and the diseased. His soul shined as a beacon of life, exceptional in substance amongst his kin.
Rydell was taught some of the most basics of mending, rough patches to stem the flow of blood and ease the burden of pain. He found that his gifts allowed him to keep the anguish of others at bay. Even being around those inflicted by the darkness gave them hope, bolstered their spirit, and put them at ease?A However, no cure had been found yet, and Rydell quickly reached a limitation on what could be taught to him in Eil Shaeria.
Seeking to find a way to cure not only the bodies of his kin, but protect their spirits from the ravages of the dark, Rydell left Eil Shaeria to find the legendary Goddess Rayihn. Rydell had heard of her unspeakable acts of healing and love. In order to cure his people, and protect his kin and others of the light from the destruction and ravages of the dark, he would need to seek His Lady Rayihn. He would need to become a shield against the ebb of evil, and a shining beacon of hope to those who would fight against it.
He would find a way to pull back the darkness within the spirit of his kin, bring to them the healing and love of the light, and stand as a shield for his allies against the dark, blessing them with the greatness of Lady Rayihn.
