Keilan the Master of Pyrotechniques

Description

Standing tall and proud is a strange form before, one of which may have
used be half-elf or half-drow. His blood-red eyes almost glow and send
chills down your spine. His fiery red mane falls down to his back, and
glows, almost as if it's on fire. His skin looks as if it's turned to
stone, and his veins are extremely difficult to find. His face doesn't
seem to grow facial hair anymore, and his steps leave very small puddles
behind. His slightly pointed ears seem unbothered by other annoying
sounds, as if they are attuned to something else. When he sees you
gazing at him, he waves his hand, causing fires to form midair for a
moment.

Chapter 7

A weakening body.

Keilan, a half-drow, paced back and forth within the library of
Invocation within the chasm. His blood-red eyes shifted back and forth,
looking at the many tomes hidden away within here. His fiery-red mane
had grown fairly long, and some sort of stubble is growing from his chin.
He was muttering to himself, as if trying to reach a conclusion to
something. As he paced, he continued to talk to himself.

"My body is growing weaker, with no reason. Some cruel trick of the
gods? Must be, or is this body just failing?" He spoke, his loud voice
echoing throughout the library, and even throughout other parts of the
dark chasm. "A new, body, that's my answer...but how. And whom? So
many questions...I must first discover a magic for this, though. It's
time to take this into my own hands, and restore my former strength.
I'll decide whom later on."

He stopped his pacing and began flipping through some of the many tomes
within the library, hoping to discover something.

Chapter 6

The Shadow Plane

A red haired half-drow stood upon corrupted ground, his eyes closing,
concentrating. He could feel the connection, feel the darkness within
this corrupted area. He knew this was where he'd make his discovery, in
an area just like this. He could feel his power pulse in this spot, so
corrupted and connected. He began to gather his internal strength, he
could feel the power flowing through him. Once he believed he had enough
strength gathered, he bagan to try and tug at the shadow plane. He could
feel the darkness, he knew this would be the day it happened. The more
he concentrated, the more he felt the power of the Shadow plane coming to
his beckon.

Two days later Keilan sat within the library of Invocation, wondering
what went wrong. He had felt it, felt the power. He had tugged at it,
yet he still could not fully tap it. He returned to his books for now,
trying to discern what he could do better to tap the power of the Shadow
Plane.

Summary

To quickly Summarize Keilan, he was born of a dark ritual, although not
imbued with any true powers beyond an extra understanding of elemental
magic. Of course, being born of dark powers, he is left with no moral
code, no true soul to speak of, and will kill anyone as long as there is
something in it for him. He is dark, cold, and calculating. Sometimes
he might even do something nice, just to make the backstabbing, which is
sure to follow, all the more satisfying, or to simply take someone off
their guard.

Bored

A very bored, red haired half-drow practially slept during the current
period of instruction given by a master within the guild of invokers.
This was easy for him, yet most students just couldn't understand how the
Quasi-Elemental planes worked. Keilan was surrounded by such stupidity!
It was simple lecture, yet they cannot even grasp that? They expect to
actually open a conduit to the plane, yet they cannot even comprehend
what it is? They would have been better left to the guild of
shapeshifting, such an easy and boring craft that was. His long, red
hair covering his blood-red eyes, he slowly drifted off, just barely
hearing the instructor, almost like a murmer.

He was startled awake by a loud blast, and looked up to see his desk
blackened, and sparking with electricity. That was it, he was done.
Keilan stood up, and just walked from the classroom, walked from the
tower, and continued on. Keilan decided he was too good for the tower,
and deserved more, better. He easily gained entrance into the
adventuring guild of invokers, and after a short time, had surpassed his
peers, although the few doing better than him, met untimely deaths which
no one could explain. The cold, merciless half-drow had killed his way
to the top, and was now about in the adventuring world, hungering for
more power, more knowledge

The Path

Brushing the stiff broom across the floor harshly, a young red haired
half-drow in his teens mumbled about sweeping this room for the tenth
time this morning. Grueling as it was, it was his last day doing these
menial chores. This very night, young Keilan would choose his path
within the tower, and would finally start his apprenticeship to an elder
student for a few years. How sweet this victory was over his overseer,
who had demanded so much more of him than others, all because he was some
wild infant found crying in the wilds. No one liked him, as no one
should. Since his earliest days, he was cold, calculating, and often
stormed off before he would get violent. Once his training was complete,
however, the half-drow would be on his road to power, that he could use
to show them all. One day he'll be back and take control of the tower,
but for now, he must complete his studies, and deal with these ignorant
people.

The time had come, now he would choose his course of study, now he would
choose the path that will take him to power! The rest of his peers
joined him on the bottom floor, with the Arch-mage, and instructors from
each respective guild of magic. The Arch-Mage waved a wand through the
air, and tables with chairs seemed to grow from the very ground. The
students all took their seats, and were given written exams. Keilan was
sure he had this, but none of the questions made sense. He figured it
out quickly, though, for the rest of the students still had puzzled looks
on their faces when he had finished. The questions were designed to
choose your path based on instinct, so they'd know exactly what the
students are proficient at.

After a long wait, the Arch-Mage began reading off names and their
respective guilds of studies. Keilan stood still, stone-faced, yet he
could not lie to himself, he was eager to know his, that he may start his
study. After a long wait, his name came up, he had been called to the
guild of invokers. No surprise to him, he'd love to rain death and
destruction upon his foes in the form of the very elements they rely on
for survival! His time would come.

Creation part 2

The world continued it's barrage upon this spot, lightning, wind, fire,
ooze, ice, and water all converging. As if in reaction to this dark
ritual, the very earth itself began to quake. The shadow lost no
concentration, just kept on with his dark ritual. As what seemed like
the elemental planes themselves began to quiet, a spire of stone shot
from the hole, towering at least fifty feet above the solitary shadow.
The shadow made some sort of noise, as if speaking, and from the spire,
stones and sand broke loose, falling into a pile at the shadow's feet.
Upon command, these loose stones began to rise, levitating above the
ground, and swirled into a humanoid shape. With one last gesture from
the shadow, from the very dark realm he resided in, darkness surrounded
the stone humanoid creature. It took on the humanoid features, and soon,
after the darkness faded, stood a naked half-drow, quickly aging in
reverse, to that of an infant.

The work was not finished, however. Immediately moving into another
ritual, the dark being pulled from nowhere what looked like an embalmed
brain of sorts. Chanting and casting, tendrils of mana and darkness
squeezed out from the brain, digging into the head of the half-drow
infant. The child showed no emotion, no pain, until the process was
finished. After the brain had been completely absorbed into this young
child, uncontrollable screaming and crying followed. The shadow seemed
as if to grin to itself, then once again began casting, and the shadows
once again formed around the infant, empowering it, granting it the gift
of magic, and forever darkening it's soul and thoughts. Now, only one
matter remained. Scooping the child up, the shadow flew off, and not
long after, the students at the High Tower of Sorcery discovered a young
infant crying in the wilds near the tower.

Chapter 1

Creation

The snow whirled around the lone, shadowy figure stalking through the
white forest. His details were cloaked, not by cloth, by shadow, yet
seemed completely unphased by the freezing temperatures around him, which
had frozen the very pine needles on the trees. Somehow, somewhere, a
bolt of lightning lit up the sky, following by the great bellow of a
thunder clap. His legs didn't move, he just seemed to glide through the
pillowy white around him, pushing up small banks of snow in his wake.
Finally, it stopped in the center of a large, frozen lake. The shadowy
figure knelt down, and invoking ancient magic, melted a hole in the exact
center of the lake, the freezing water below beckong for living things to
fall in, losing feeling and their life.

The dark shadow made a strange gesture with it's hands, and within them
appeared two strange glowing objects. It began chanting, and slowly
dipped on into the cold waters. The first object was purest black,
seemingly pulling in the light around it, the essence of the drow.
Following more chanting, the shadow-being dipped the second object in,
swirling in colors of gold, silver, and red, the essence of the humans.
Finishing it's chanting, and as to how it was chanting with no mouth, one
could only guess, the shadow raised it's arms, and from within the
freezing waters, a fire roared from the dark-depths, raising above the
shadow. Following the fires, strikes of lightning centered on the hole,
followed by a great gust of wind, which bowed the trees, felling even the
mightiest, the crackling of the wood echoeing throughout the forest, the
screaming wind carrying it miles away, the rest lost as it goes against
the gale. The wind centered into a vortex around the hole, bolts of
lightning continuing to light up the sky, the fires growing higher,
hotter, brighter. A primordial ooze began to fill the hole, turning the
water into a gel form, and further fueling the burning flames. This one
spot within the world burned of magic, the elements, and darkness. It
was as if the whole of the planes had opened up their fury on this one
spot, taking out it's anger of the world.
