Description

A elven like figure stands here and at first glance, he seems to be
extremely handsome. As you look over him more, you see that there
are places on his body that seem to be deformities. His right hand
is mutated into the shape of a claw and his left leg seems to look
more goat-like than human. Your attention is drawn back up his
face and you notice his bright green eyes seeming to study the world,
almost like he is searching out the stares of the disgusted looking
at him. His hair has turned white and he has grown a beard that
is as white as his hair. Wrinkles have began to become more prominent
around his eyes and cheeks. As you look closer, you see...

The warmth of the sands envelop me as I lean against a rock while resting
in the Island. A note is in my hand, one that reads that for the second
vote, I have been chosen Meter of Mind for the Island. While there have
been times where I have not always been awake as often as I should,
apparently I have made an impression on the Seekers of the Island, enough
that they have placed their confidence in me unanimously. A small number
still voted, but the belief and backing of the Island fills me as I see
the number of eleven to vote me as Meter.

Contemplation

I sit here in the sands, where I have spent so much time conversing
and talking with those who have become my family and my friends. I let the
feeling of warmth that radiates off the sands of the Island warm my bones,
bones that while not old, feel worn sometimes. Sometimes I wonder if I've
lost a step or a thought during my time here, but whenever I get to moving,
I feel as spry as ever. Perhaps I should instead liken myself to the water
of a river held by a dam... it might take me a bit longer to work up to
breach over the dam, but once I do it seems there is no stopping me.

My duties on the Island have expanded with my becoming Meter. Even my
blessing of being able to become a dragon turtle seems to embody how I feel
these days. What kind of Meter will I be, I ask myself. What kind of mark
will I make on the Island in my passing, will I stay Meter for more than
just one vote? The questions move through my mind like flashes of lightning
down a metal wire. After a time, I realize it does not matter. As long as
I am the best Meter, the best Seeker, I can be during my time, it does not
matter what type of mark I make. Perhaps this is where Iklahn has gone
wrong in his thoughts of leaving a legacy. Our legacies speak for
themselves, not worry about what we seek to make of them.

After deep contemplation and relaxation upon the sands of the Island, I
stand, refreshed and feeling strong again with muscles and bones full
of energy and warmth.

Lover of All

Inerayo's reason for being of the Island is because he cares for and truly loves
all of those who affect or are affected by the Balance. They can be the worst of
enemies or the greatest of allies, yet he feels the same about both. Because of
the acceptance of his true nature in this, he chose to name himself and his
family forever more with the name Melar'el'een, in elvish meaning "Lover of All".

Over the past bit, I have spent much time working with my fellows from the
Island, tending the Balance and enjoying my life. I have found love with the
Lady, even with the fact of my deformities hanging over my head, and love
within the Island from my friends. I have also come to find love out within
the world. I came across a young girl in the woods as I was running about as
a fox. Afraid to show her my true form, for while I had accepted what had
happened in the past, I was afraid she would not. I curled up next to her,
letting her pet my fur and stroking my head. It seemed to calm her, as she
had seemed very distressed when I first came. She had me follow her to her
home when she had finally composed herself. I vowed to myself at that point,
that I would return to her soon, perhaps to show her my true form.

Balance

The half-elf found himself in Galadon, a part of the shapeshifter's guild.
He covered his leg and walked with a cane, trying to conceal what looked to
be a limp. He kept his hands within the sleeves of his robes unless he
absolutely needed them.He was ashamed, he knew people looked at him with
disgust. He sought to learn more of the ways of the guild, to perhaps
reverse his fate at some point.During his time thinking of his past, he
realized that the elves, the embodiment of good in the world of Thera, could
also be evil as the students who pushed him into the experiments were cruel
and jealous, direct ties to evil. He was a product of rape, a evil act. He
came to believe that everyone embodied a portion of every aspect of Balance.
He also came to realize that magic needed to be controlled, regulated. So
that the things that happened to him would not happen to others. He took up
the name Inerayo, casting away what his past had been, hoped that learning to
change his shape completely would compensate for his deformities, and sought
a life of Balance. He worked to draw attention away from his deformities by
saying sweet words and flashing smiles at every lady so that they did not see
him in disgust.This is how he would live his life. Could this be his fate?

Jealousy

No one was ever surprised that magic was going to be taught to the half-elf.
His aptitude was incredible, and it caused increased jealousy in the elves
who were taught with him. As soon as the half-elf was taught something, he
could nearly repeat it exactly.Eventually, the other students sought to
work against him, normally in dares. They would suggest that something could
not be done near his hearing, and when he heard he would do what he could to
prove them wrong. Often, they chose things that were capable, but nearly
impossible... and the half-elf would complete the dare.Finally, the
students came up with a dare to have him try shifting his body form. They
suggested that no one could shift two parts of their body at the same time
without changing the shape of their whole body.Unfortunately for the
half-elf, they were partially correct. When he cast the spell, using
concentration to change his left leg and his right hand at the same time, he
completed the spell and his legs changed... they would not change back.His
hand had become a claw, much like that of a lobsters, and his leg had turned
into more of a goat shape. They had done the worst thing they could do to
the half-elf, they had marred his vain beauty forever. The half-elf left
Darsylon then. Had fate run it's course?

Beauty was not a rare thing among the elves. Almost all elves are beautiful,
unmarred by time and unweathered by the wilds. Hair seemingly always
perfect, eyes that shine so bright that they seem a light in themselves, and
skin that even with a scar seemed only to enhance their beauty.A half-elf
among elves should have been outshined so that none ever noticed him. But
not this one. His hair, black instead of the white or gold normally around
him carried a beauty that could only be described like the beauty of a
hunting cat in the dark. His green eyes full of so much color that it could
hypnotize a snake with just barely a glance. His skin, while more tan than
the pale skin of those elves who lived near him, was perfect and unblemished
and glistened when sweat covered his muscular body. Even to the elves, he
was nearly the embodiment of perfection. The aura of magic about him, almost
so great that it could be sensed by everyone, only enhanced his beauty,
making him seem almost to glitter in the sunlight. The jealousy of the
elves, legendary... fate seemed only to be on a collison course.

Pain, blinding pain. A scream made her body shudder, a scream that placed
into her head visions of the past full of pain.She was held down by her
neck by a human, a large human.With his other hand, the one not tightening
even further around her neck, he ripped open her clothing and forced himself
on her, using her like an animal. He left her there after, laughing as he
walked away from her body covered in mud and his spittle and sweat. A cry
broke the flashback, a cry that was so unlike the scream of pain that it
shattered those past memories like glass. The baby she had just delivered,
crying loud with air filled lungs. Her eyes, enhanced by magical spells to
sense other magic, looked upon her newborn child, one that seemed as human as
she was elf, and was filled with both hate and love. His whole body was
filled with magic. Even his mother was jealous of him after just seeing him
born. A beginning to tempt the fates.
