Description

A large, eye catching, protective plate, which looks
big enough that it could be used for a gnomish home
covers the sturdy, muscular chest of this man. The
remainder of his garb mirrors the apparent protective
qualities of his plate. Thick plated arm-guards,
densely covered fists, and rigid looking lower
coverings of girth, leggings, and boots, round out the
ensemble with their dimly polished appearance. His
visage which is often covered by an indiscrepant
looking mask, seems to highlight the rugged charm of
his kind. A light-blue, unmarred, complexion
highlighted with a neatly braided goatee, high, rugged
looking cheek bones, and glimmering peridot eyes
compete a pleasing facade.

Chapter 10

The Painfully Taught Lesson. Pt2

We were defeating them handily, they were against the
preverbal hard place, or the rock. Escape was their
only apparent goal and down the river, we gave chase.
We caught up to them, North on the Docks. I quickly
hurled myself at Yarglen and sent him crashing to the
ground. We'd finally put this annoying dark dwarf to
rest, I thought. Vallinane then missed an attempt to
trip him using his weapon heralding a poor end.

Before even realizing what had occurred, I was placed
under warrant for arrest and in the heat of the chase
had failed to feel the effect take place. Looking
around, the chase for the Duergar continued and down
the alleyways we dashed. Moving quickly, I did little
more than react to a goodly man attempting to perform
his duties and did strike back against a peacekeeper.

Crashing to my knees, I realized what had occurred and
I screamed knowing the result of my actions. For a
time, my heart felt as if it was breaking, much like
when I had first defended Daliana, so many years ago.
Blinded by my grief I eagerly turned myself in to the
mercy of the law, ending a part of my life. Solace
did not accompany my choice and no relief followed.

It was Honor that guided me this far, it was Honor
that would continue. Returning to the town of
Voralian, home of the peacekeeper, I noticed him
walking around once more, barely worse for wear. A
heartfelt apology was owed, and an explanation for my
penance, I did explain. I'd strive to Honor his
sacrifice through the duty of the Fortress and perform
at the best of my ability to not be fooled like that
and to remain more aware of my surroundings so that no
other members of the light are used that way again.

Chapter 9

The Painfully Taught Lesson. Pt1

My sword clanged loudly as it burst through parts of
the Vanquishers' armor and the blood began to flow.
Quickly seizing the opportunity, I switch to my flail
and jabbed at his eyes before rendering a viscous hail
of blades in a flurry, toward his direction.
Vallinane fervently placed his dagger into the large
warriors side while Illanthos mended any wounds we
sustained. This was the event that spawned the
lasting effect upon my moral and understanding.

Only a few hours earlier, my Guild Master was pleased
enough to offer the last title given within the
warriors guild, and I happily accepted. Afterward I
called out to the Cardinal and Marshall that we should
visit Yarglen and the Empire to procure the codex for
proper guarding by the Watcher. Soon we gathered and
moved together toward that goal.

The assault was fierce and drawing. In between
attempts to pull the War Master from the Imperial high
council, the Scarabite Demiero was calling down the
wrath of the father of devils. Pushing hard, I strove
too far over reaching and met my end afflicted with
the healing curse, luckily the War Master was very
soon to follow.

It wasn't too great of a span before we had been
reincarnated in our corporal forms, but this time the
codex was within the Fortress. We prepared for a
defense, as always, but the fate lain out before me
was completely unforeseen.

Accompanied by the Dread Lord, Cabakso, Yarglen strode
up to the Tara'bal and struck him violently. Quickly,
we three, tore off after them in a righteous fury.

Chapter 8

The Search of A Good Man.

It has been said that, in this day in age it is hard
to find a single man, woman, or child that can be
called truly pure and good.

Some go as far as to claim that, it may be easy to
find a good child, or the pure maiden, or even the
good man, but the rarity is that they sparsely
combine.

This is the tale of a man whom went in search of just
that. When rarity meets reality.

Knowing why such a trip was decided in the first place
is a story of its' own but to say that it came as only
an after thought from a few drinks and friendly
chatter at the bar would mostly be correct.

It began as men who were huddled around the fire,
drinking with some kindly folk and discussing their
lives and experiences.

While bickering back and forth, one lad laid a wager.

"I'll dare you to find one person in this tavern who
is truly pure and good." the man said.

The ideal itself was a simple one yet it assaulted the
man's mind "Surely there would be one soul around" he
exclaimed.

It didn't take more than a quick glance around that he
was soon to realized the foolishness of his thought,
and after bonking himself on the head, realized he was
losing this wager handily.

The next day the man awoke, groggy and in not so
minuscule of an amount of pain but he found last
nights' wager still running avidly through his
thoughts.

No matter what he attempted to do to quell it, the
quandary just wouldn't stop eaten away at his mind.

To satiate his thoughts, he strolled out for the day
in search of one person that was truly pure and good.

He trudged through the town, eyeing everyone he could
in sharp consideration, stopping on seldom occasion to
help any passersby. Secretly hoping to find another,
selflessly doing the same.

A tough realization occurred once he realized that he
wouldn't find this pure person he sought in his
diminutive trek through town, he kept right on
walking.

Through Snow, Wind, Hail, and Rain, he wonders about
the lands helping those along the way in his search
for the pure and true person.

Till this very day, rumors say that he can still be
found in your time of need. Because it is he that is
pure and good indeed.

In the end, this tale is told to remind us all, that
it's never be too late to take up ones' own search for
what you'd truly want or need to see.

This story of morality was derived from an ancient
fable passed down among his village and was freely
given to those in attendance during the story telling
event in honor of Cersee, the hostess and even though
it was in his slang, the meaning remains the same.

Chapter 7

As he Grows.

In the span of Alvoraxs' life, he has endured and
embraced several changes. Some to his body and
physical appearance or to his wears, a few to his
mannerisms, distinctions among his actions and
tactics, and even to his scope of religious beliefs.

Most recently he underwent a physical change to his
facial features and in doing so, this happened to
increase his moral slightly. Feeling slightly better
about his outward visage, he changed his armament to
compliment his features slightly better along with the
consideration for the increased general usefulness.

At times his slang gets worse and worse but on
occasion he realizes that it is hard to follow his
words by the expressions on other peoples faces.
Throughout all of these experiences, he continues to
draw from the larger pool of folk which he interacts,
emulating some of their "better qualities".

Discovered most recently are the additional benefits
that he has managed to learn from the various Guild
Masters around Thera. Undertaking long journeys has
aided his ability to whirl his swords at a high rate
of speed, watching objects as they pass allows him to
pull opponents into them, and as such he is slowly
beginning to incorporate these as new strategies.

Most recently he made a revelation of how set and
defined his ideals of Honor, Fate, and Wind affect his
life. Sometimes he rides the flow of the Wind,
drawing strength but at times he finds it most
opposing and painful. Accepting this as part of Fate,
he remains mostly cheerful. However, Honor retains
its' commanding presence and guiding action.

Chapter 6

The Fates' Deck.

Late one evening as the cool drenching rain pressed
down its' abundance, a call came through the Fortress.
Illanthos, a high elf and the Cardinal of Light, asked
all whom were present if any would be interested in a
card of fortune. At first my instinct was hesitant,
as I am not the best of card players, but my curiosity
reached its' apex when he spoke the name of the Game.

As if he were a bit scared, and at the same time
bringing praise to the cards, he laid out the name.
"The Deck of Fate" he called it, the game of ones'
life. Now the hook was set and soon I was headed to
the Fortress to put these cards and fate to the test.

When I arrived, the winds were diminishing and I
barged inside as I normally would, finding Illanthos
and Veneroth the gentle kind paladin, already within.
We conversed briefly and threw down the perceived
rules of the game, as estimated by my giant cousin. A
pair of cards each he said we could draw until someone
finally drew three cards and the game would end.

When Illanthos passed the deck to Veneroth the look of
terror and excitement washed over his visage and he
appeared to take a slight shiver. Reluctantly he
withdrew the first card, The card of Strength which
bulged his already stout form. The next turn was "A
poor draw", The card of Death, and his body collapsed.
Chagrin washed over us but the game continued.

Now it was my turn, eagerly I picked up the deck and
confirmed the procedure. I flipped open the deck and
out came the card of The Lovers and in an instant the
bones in my face augmented and my voices' tone slid,
improving my natural guile and charm or lack there of.

Chapter 5

Realization of the Larger.

I had returned one afternoon, just before sunset, and
as usual, she awaited my arrival. A small supper was
still warm from her preparation and lay waiting,
boiled salmon with egg and small slivers of cheese.
She knew that this was the day that I had been
planning for so long. The day that I would bring home
the announcement of my efforts within the guild and
how I had finally understood the basics and been
accepted into the guild.

From then on, I would often trail behind her while
performing her errands for the day. Hoping to ward
off any whom would harm, beloved Daliana. The attacks
were never to end however and often the news spewed by
the criers of other towns or the passing print from
the Eternal Star was little if any better.

One day after fending off a small band of goblins
during our trip to the the Manor on the Mount, we had a
chat. I explained to her how I had heard of a grand
and Mighty Fortress to the north. It was they whom
often roam these lands in an attempt to banish those
foul of heart who desired blood and gore in their
lives. She suggested that I find out more.

Before too much time had passed, I learned the lay of
the lands, strove to fight for what I shared in belief
with the Fortress and did join their ranks as a
Squire. I then returned home for a good spell, to
bask in the warmth and praise of the lovely Daliana.
After a brief period, I explained how often I'd have
to be away and that I would try to visit regularly.
She saw me off the next day, always telling me how
proud that she was of what I had become.

Chapter 4

The Warriors' Calling.

"Echulv" she chanted as she wrung the last bits of her
hydration from scant parcels of tattered clothing. My
aching body screamed with agony and rejoice at the
first water it had in a very long time. Before
passing out with exhaustion I saw a glimpse of her
smiling face and felt assured that all would be well.

Piling brush and any nearby debris together she had
formed a small lean-to which she hoped would help cool
me off. On the third day, decidedly, I was well
enough to move. She was my crutch, my moral drive,
and my provider for the trip into the big city.
Galadon, she said, would surely have the right people
to provide the nourishment and medical care that I
desperately needed.

As the days rolled onward and my health quickly
improved, we began to know each other better and
better. Before long, we were like brother and sister
living in a small dwelling on the north east side of
town. For a time, all was good and well but the
prejudice simply wouldn't go away. After the second
assault in so many days, I decided more than a
rudimentary knowledge of warrior-ship was needed and
in doing so, joined the warriors guild.

My first impression was that I had never met a more
humble but fearsome woman as the Guildmaster which
awaited me. She never held back her "Words of
Encouragement" often mocking the apparent lack of
quickness and grace bestowed upon my people. It was
then that I took my first few swings with a sword and
learned that strength, for certain, had it's part in
the wielding of this weapon.

Chapter 3

Alvorax, Quirk Explinations.

Where Alvorax grew up was a small and out of the way
village. This is the origin of his speech patterns,
slang and cut off words. To him, many of the people he
encounters sound funny because he speaks as all those
around him in the village did and to him that is
normal.

The gentle kind from his home town were always taught
to Honor and Respect their elders and the old ways.
Due slightly to his dim nature, he has simplified
these ideals and attempts to implement his sense of
Honor in every day life. It may include singular
combat but it may not. To him the true meaning is the
earning and giving of respect to self, peers and
enemies whom deserve it.

Largely in part to his elvish savior Daliana, Alvorax
has taken a word which she often used to describe him
as his second name. She used to say Raumo, meaning
storm because he was a giant and also a noisy one.
With his slang it became "Raumos" and he will answer
to either, most of the time.

Chapter 2

The Reaction.

I joined a faction of purist who had adopted and derived their beliefs from
our ancestral traditions of honor and kindness. This too wasn't long to last
and they began drawing their details and ideals from whom we saw to be the
strongest men and women of the land. The pure, bane of magi, the Villagers.
Realizing that these men and women were somewhat misguided took me a good
deal of time and effort because as a moderately simple minded fellow, other
than tactical notions, I'm not the wisest of my race. The final straw was
seeing them strike indescrimenantly of race, creed, or belief and this didn't
sit well with me.

Decidedly I chose to make a stand and defended a young elvish woman, two of my
faction were attempting to manhandle. Unfortunately, at the time my strength
didn't rival my beliefs in fairness and respect. Although I had succeeded in
saving the lady, I was beaten within an inch of my life and dumped, here,
into the desert as an exile. As the setting sun grew the vultures courage
and my last vitality was fading, a cool shade rose overhead. Small tumbling
specs of nourishment fell from above, revitalizing my skin and body, pushing
me to open my aching eyes to receive deliverance at the hands of Daliana. The
young woman from before, softly chanting Echulv (Awaken) as she sprinkled water.

Chapter 1

The Change.

My skin was dry and cracking but my dehydrated body bid no blood trickle
forth. Crawling through the desert was ever so exhausting and draining for a
giant like me. As the scorching ball of flame floating in the sky beat down
upon me it's wrath, I shuffled along. While inching along, the passing shade
of the vultures circling over head granted my only relief from the agony
along this desert plain. Surely I would die here, this would be my end. As
I thought and contemplated these things my past rushed by and I recalled it
wasn't always like this.

Not so long ago, I lived in a small aquatic village community full of
hunters, clerics and warriors. It had been this way for many generations,
we all lived our simple lives. One evening past, a mage arrived by boat, we
as a village were somewhat accepting and did not shun him but offer a place
to stay. He was unique among our small town but more were quick to follow.
After a few years they became the centers of town attention, governor, cryer,
leader of the temple, so on and so forth. It was strange to me after living
my life the way of my ancestors honoring what they stood for preached and
imbedded into our blood and souls that these men and women sought to change
that.
