There comes a time when everyone one, man or beast must grow up.
This little flower decided to hold off till the later sunset to bloom.
Like the winds changing, so too did I, either I stand on a side
or I do not stand at all. It's funny how life throws curves at
you and stands on the side to see how you react to it. The cost of a
life during our narrow escape from the battlefield prooved too much
for me to just stand by idling. I can never forget the diabolical
laughter of the firestarter. Someone who was bent on setting cities
on flames just for pure enjoyment, but that turned into a tragedy.
Now I stand on A side, the one to protect those who seek shelter in
confinds of the cities, seeking a safer passage than that of the wilds.

surface dwelling

It's been quite sometime now that I've been traveling on the surface.
Day by day, months by months, the surface experienced started to change
my perception of what was taught versus what was real. As it turned out
surface dwelling had fair share of problems as well. To some extent,
dark-elf history books had some facts about the upperworld. The stories
of fierce warriors that sought to destroy the magic fabrics were true.
My scar from one of their blades proved our historic books correct.
So were the light-skinned elves, the creatures wore armor of light and swords
of energy seared by flesh as we crossed path. Their insanity of hunting down
any dark skinned beings proved to be maddening. Their cult chants of
of purifying souls and bring forth the Light only made me more angry at them.
Not everything on the surface was bad though, their culture and technology seems
more advanced then our cobbled underground city. Their vast knowledge of building
materials yield large cities and towns.

Background

As far as I can remember, growing up dark-skinned tough.
Especially when you reach the surface, my childhood had its
moment, ups and down, just like anyone else would.
When all you see were drow-kinds, you were expected to think a certain way.
We were taught that the surface dwellers were murderers and barbarians.
Our light-skinned elven cousins, as we were taught, were a violent race, bent on keeping us
down in the bowls of the earth. What we were taught to believe and lived seemed right.
One day during my 100 year birthday, I went out exploring the Underdark caverns.
At a dead-end, I noticed something peculiar, there was a small circular light
shining in the far corner of the wall. I followed the beam of light so its
source and it came from above the surface. Somehow this beam had
penetrated the earth. Curiously, I poked and prodded at the little hole.
All of a sudden, the earth from top gave way and there in front of me,
the view of the surface world. The sunlight rays flooded the caverns
illuminating the darkness, temporarily blinding me. Where was the
burning feeling, the impeccable heat from the rays? The sunlight
was not harmful like how it was describe in books nor did it melted my
dark skin. Neverously, I began to crawl up the hole. Part nervous and
exillerating, I slowly emerged from the earth and came upon the surface.

An Immortal added 1000 exp for: Role - Role doesn't give very good specifics about a dark-elf that came to the surface and is not used to the unfamiliar world, but I like the disoriented point of view.
