Description

Glowing with a holy light and clad head to toe in heavy battle armor, here
stands a mountain dwarf war-priest. He stands little more than four feet
tall, his oversized boots rising nearly past his knees. A full, firey-red
beard tumbles down his chest and well past his midsection compeletely
covering his face. His kindly blue eyes glisten from underneath his large,
stern brow as he proudly admires his surroundings. When he speaks, his
words rumble out of his large belly and fill the air with a booming voice.

Chapter 2

Heartbreak and Betrayal

The evening was calm and quiet in the bustling dwarven city of Mortorn, as Drayden brewed his final batch of special ether for a new batch of rye whiskey. While sampling some of his newly distilled product
he gazed out the circular window of his brewery and laid eyes upon the fairest dwarven lass he had ever seen. It was love at first sight, and as he stepped out into the alleyway to offer her some whiskey she
smiled warmly, welcoming his invitation to walk. The streetlamps were dimly lit as they walked the city,
and soon the two became deeply engrossed in conversation. The whiskey was taking its toll by the end of the night, and they parted ways untill the next day. She visited the distillery everyday from then on,
bringing breads and cheese, and talking to him while he worked. Soon enough Drayden got to showing her
how to make the special ether that he put in the oak barrels. She took to it swiftly and soon they began making special blended whiskeys with one another to pass the long underground nights.

It was on one of these fated nights that the ultimate tragedy was to befall them both. Returning from the neighboring city Akan with a cartload of supplies, Drayden had left his beloved to mind the
distillery. It was windless and dry evening as he approached the citygates, and allready he could tell
something was wrong. There was a blazing red glow comming from inside the city, and as he neared home he realized it was set ablaze and burning fast in the night sky. As he frantically joined in with the other
dwarves to quench the blaze, a huge explosion rocked the foundation and stone, blowing flaming debris into the air and street. Charred by the blast, Drayden dropped to his knees, and watched the rest of his
distillery finally burn to the ground. The lady dwarf was nowhere to be found, not a thing was left in the ashes of the building. Days passed and Drayden began to wonder if she was really consumed by the
fire. His heart was heavy, shattered in two, and ached for the truth, the knowledge of whether she had set the blaze, and was perhaps still alive. What betrayal he felt was no consolation for the destruction
of his livelyhood, and he took up arms with the clerics guild. Several years later he returned home from his crusade to find a basket of bread and cheese at his doorstep, crusty and molded from the long time it
had spent sitting there. Once again his heart yearned for the truth, was she still alive? Could she have betrayed his trust?

Drayden was born and raised in the popular dwarven city of Mortorn. He took up apprenticeship in a distillery at a young age and worked with refining spirits untill his young adulthood when he entered the priesthood. The age old war
between the dwarves and the duergars had made a strong impression on him and his focus and goal became to drive the darkness back from whence it came. The teaching he preached spoke of the corruption of the darkness, the purity and
truth of the light. Only through purification of mind, soul and body could one acheive truth. The cleansing of the darkness was the process of purification of
the land, and only then could the truth be seen and known. And so the young dwarf set about on a holy crusade, to hunt the corrupted souls wherever they may be found and cleanse their impurity. For several battle hardening years the
dwarven shaman crusaded against the darkness and was met with victory after victory. At long last he approached the sacred shrine of the lady jaguar priestess and sought her blessing...
